Ever been to a Korean bakery? Neither had I until I tried Paris Baguette last week! The first thing you'll notice as you walk into Paris Baguette is the exquisite artistry of their cakes displayed in the glass case. Almost all of them are topped with ripened fruit, adding a burst of color to their cakes. The cutest part is all their cakes are kissed with a chocolate logo of the bakery, giving it that personal touch and so all your guests know exactly where you got it from! I tried a slice of their blueberry chiffon cake and if there was one word I would use to describe it, it's LIGHT. The cake was wonderfully moist, had an abundance of fresh blueberries running through it and was masterfully layered with whipped cream. Loved the texture of the whipped cream but it needed to be a little sweeter perhaps. I definitely knew I wasn't a fan of overt sweetness, but until I tried Paris Baguette's cakes, I realized there also has to be a right balance. Not too much but not too little, either. I did go back (because I am such a pig) and saw more pastries. I saw a lot more tarts and breads. I got myself a sweet potato stick ($2.10), blueberry yogurt cronut ($3.50), and royal vanilla pudding ($2.75). I also took a small sample of sponge cake with some chopped up strawberries and whipped cream. The cake I sampled was good; it was your typical Asian cake. It was not overly sweet, but super airy, and fresh. The sweet potato stick had a beautiful caramel-like outer layer; it was not overly sweet and super flaky. It is a perfect snack. The cronut was a bit greasy, which I guess is not so surprising. However, it was quite flaky and filled with delicious tangy blueberry yogurt cream. I have not tried the vanilla pudding yet, but I know it is going to be delicious. The moral of the story is that don't visit a bakery near its closing time. I'll definitely bring my boyfriend back to this location during the day! read more

Paris Baguette is what my dreams are made of. Aisles of flaky pastries, both sweet and savory, macarons and light, spongey cakes. Grab a tray, walk around to see what looks yum, and use the provided tongs to pick up whatever you want. Their croissants have sweet glaze on top that I've never experienced elsewhere. Try the ham and cheese croissant and the croque monsieur! The sugary top and cheesy meat work so nicely together. The only problem with Paris Baguette is that it's all terrible for you and you can't really ever go there unless it's a special occasion or something! Oh, and the cups are ADORABLE. read more

Since I don't have internet at home, I frequent a lot of the cafes in my neighborhood, constantly searching for the least crowded place so I don't have to fight for an outlet. Well I'm happy to report that on a whim, I decided to come here and found ALLLLLLL the outlets available. I am the only one sitting here and I friggin love it. They also carry my favorite tea (jasmine green) so I'm perfectly content sitting here, Yelping and doing my thang online, listening to some bomb music too. By the way, after 4PM, the cold deli sandwiches are all 40% off. They apparently run out of baguettes very early, despite their name and somewhat false advertisement. Korean Owned French name? Interesting concept, hey it works! I absolutely can't stop having their curry croquettes & the jap chae (noodle) filled Croquette here. Its a very bad addiction one can not break. Crispy, crunchy, oily & heavy in flavor all at the same time. I also love their sausage on a stick. Its a polish sausage with an herbed bread twisted around it & baked off. The flavor on that thing oh my! Sadly they have discontinued their amazing chicken salad & tuna salad sandwiches. Big bummer! I also can't get enough of their cheese soufflé mini pastry at a whopping $2 it better deliver right? It's exactly what it says it is. This location is located in a very convenient location because it is close to the freeways and Glendale downtown area with all the shopping malls and restaurants. It is NOT located in the heart of downtown but it is close enough. If you also need to go to a Korean market, theres one right in front of this location as well. Usually this plaza has a lot of cars and is sometimes hard to find parking but you should be fine if you wait a couple minutes or so. They usually always carry various kind of bread compared to the one in Koreatown. I think it is because this location is less popular and less people coming in & out. Workers here are usually students working as part-timers but they are all very nice & friendly! I havent visited a Paris Baguette in a long time since I can go to a 85°C Bakery instead but they do have some good selections here as well. Dont forget to ask for 'discount bonus card' where a certaib percentage of your purchase gets added everytime you spend whatever amount of money and you can use it later when it has accumulated on bigger purchase such as cakes! read more

I will say this, I have been to this branch SEVERAL times right after I went to the one in Santa Anita, and it has been BAD. The place is tucked into a small plaza, so be careful when hunting for it. Going the first couple times, I missed it by a block or so. Place is WAY smaller than Santa Anita, but this is normally how I see an Asian bakery, cramped to the point that you have to have a single file line just to get around the place. But being small, it has its perks, not a lot of people going, and a smaller selection of baked goods, meaning that I don't feel like I want to try EVERY single thing. All the stuff that I've gotten so far, none of it has failed me, even the purple sweet potato latte. Not as great as the one I had at YakiniQ from SF, but it'll gets my craving down. I haven't had the guts to try the black bean one, but I will be daring enough to do so. read more

Upon the one year anniversary of owning our home, the wife and I decided (sorta last minute) to celebrate with some wine and dessert as friends were coming over. As it was last minute, we didn't have time to make anything so I yelped bakeries around us and many were closed, many were... meh, and Paris Baguette was our best bet. Knowing nothing about it and not really reading the reviews but looked at the overall rating, I was surprised that a "French" bakery had so many Asian pastries and breads. They look quite good and I will go back and try some of those, it just caught me off guard. The display case was packed with all sorts of beautiful looking desserts and I liked that you could get slices as it gave me more opportunity to try what they've got. They also had the much talked about Cro-Nut so I tossed one of those into the order as well. Of our desserts, they were all beautiful to look at, but I wasn't super impressed with any of them. The chocolate lava cake had a good center but the outside was really dry. My wife's fruit tart was quite good and both slices of cake my friends had were good, but nothing that would make me a regular. I haven't had a Cro-nut before so I won't judge this as I'd like to try other ones. It was good, but wouldn't see what the hype is about based off of this version. It was pretty busy when I came in and the other customers were sort of rude and I got shoved a couple of times and two guys budded in front of me completely aware they did so. I also wasn't sure how this all worked as part of the bakery is serve yourself and the other you order behind the counter and no one was kind enough to explain that to me and that I needed a tray, and you pay over on the left and... sigh. I would like to come back and try a few other pastries. Macarons are 2 one inch cookies for $5.00 and along with traditional flavors, they also have some Asian flavors which is interesting. read more

We selected the Glendale Paris Baguette to prepare our wedding cake, and overall we were pleased with their service. :) PROS: 1) Their cake is yummy. PERIOD. Our guests loved the cake. 2) Reasonable price for a wedding cake compared to other bakeries (i.e. Porto's). 3) They didn't require placing the order too far in advance. CONS: 1) Was not an easy process getting our schedules to match with the girl who handles wedding cake orders. We had to go out of OUR way to match HER schedule. 2) Limited in cake decor and cake layouts. 3) They didn't follow the design EXACTLY as requested. We ended up ordering a 3 tier vanilla wedding cake plus an extra sheet cake. The exterior was butter cream and the interior had "sang cream" mixed with strawberries. The design I wanted was simple, and I even gave them a photo AND supplied the ribbon so that they could produce an exact replica. They assured me that they would be able to accomplish this, but come the day of the wedding, the cake they delivered did not match perfectly with the one I requested and ordered. If you are looking for a very detailed and decorative wedding cake, I would not recommend this place because the cake decor and layouts they offer are pretty limited. But I wanted something simple, so they were a good fit for us. Another thing that caused undue stress was that they called me the morning of my wedding to tell me that they would be running an hour late. Apparently they had miscommunications within the bakery about the delivery time. I was pretty mad, but then I got over it. Fortunately, the cake did arrive in time for my florist to decorate it. But still, who calls the bride about that on the day of her wedding?! Really, who does that?! Nevertheless, we would use them again for future events. A lot of pastry selections and sometimes it's hard to decide what to get. I already tried almost all of their pastries after going for few times here. When you enter Paris Baguette, the scent of the pastries from oven will make you crave for more of this place. It's a fushion of Korean and French bakery. BTW I like their coffee. In my own opionion it's better than the starbucks. This place is one of the best tasteful bakery I had for awhile. I'll rank this place as number 1 on my list in korean bakeries that I've tried. I'm not sure if there's a language barrier but 1st time I asked for 5 pumps of vanilla latte I got pumpkin latter. 2nd time I ask for vanilla latte I was told they use powder for vanilla and not syrup and the drink tasted awful. 3rd time the drink was alright and today I asked the lady "do you use powder for vanilla or syrup" she said powder. I get my drink and NO vanilla flavor. I go back and ask for more powder vanilla, she tells me we use syrup. Wtf?! Conveniently located in Glendale - in a small shopping center. A quick tip for parking - there's also parking in a garage downstairs if there are no spots left in the main lot. It's a bit hidden but there's plenty of spots. Their cakes are works of art! Love the frosting landscapes and the cute cupcakes (the polar bear one gets me every time.) They have a lot of gift items - roll cakes, mochi, macarons. They also have a loyalty stamp card - to get discounts on future purchases. Too much goodness for one bakery. When in the area, I do stop by for at least one of their delicious pastries. I although did come to conclusions that I spent too much time trying to choose which pastry i want. Today I walked in and was greeted right away by a nice young man. He asked me if I needed help to ask him. I went into my own world taking pictures and literally looking at every single pastry one by one(yes i did have time). I got the mocha bread,finally, which is HEAVEN in a bag. It was so fresh and delicious!! I had told myself to just eat half and take the rest to my mom and brother but when i got home i ended up handing them an empty bag. I literally ate the whole thing in less than 10 minutes with their freshly brewed coffee. We bought a giant cake from them for my daughter's first birthday. Since then, I've been back to buy birthday cakes and delicious pastries for my family at various times. All my experiences have been great. The freshness and quality of the ingredients have been excellent and their delivery of the big cake and overall service has been fantastic. Their soft and spongy cakes are topped/filled with fresh fruit and really light whipped frosting which is sweet but not too sweet like buttercream frosting can be sometimes. Their sweet red bean buns and individual-sized cakes are great too. The last time I was there, after I bought and paid for a birthday cake and a big bag of pastries, the dude from behind the counter ran to the door to open it for me with a big smile. Paris Baugette's cake $100. hmm... Came here to sample a couple of the cakes so that I would know which one to order for a party up north. This place was much smaller than I expected and the workers here were all Korean men! (Where are all the ladies at?!) they were all very polite and customer service was fine. So the cakes I do not recommend: -The strawberry cream cake - The cake portion was a tad drier than I expected. There was not enough strawberries in the cream to give it a decent strawberry flavor. -The regular tiramisu - this was not the tiramisu cake that is my sister-in-law's favorite cake that she always orders! The one we liked best was the blueberry chiffon cake! where the strawberry cream cake lacked in flavor and moistness the blueberry chiffon did not disappoint. But yet out of everything we sampled, my favorite was actually not a baked item but the cappuccino pudding!!! I appreciated the yelp freebie of iced coffee which was delicious. if I lived close by, I might frequent it every now and again. If you've ever been to JJ bakery, Sheng Kee, or Kee Wah bakery, this Asian style bakery will be very familiar and very similar. One thing to note in particular are the packaged sponge cakes. They're actually made in Korea. It's not that this is a bad thing... I buy food items imported from Korea at Trader Joe's (the pae jeon for example) all the time. But I expected baked items from the bakery to be baked there fresh. Just set your expectations properly & you won't be caught off guard! If the manager is still reading the reviews which I appreciate that he or she is taking the time to follow up on what customers are saying, here is some feedback I'd like to give: 1) some of the cakes had little icy bits in them as if the cakes were frozen. I am not sure how often the cakes are being baked and if they are freshly made, perhaps the refrigeration case is just a tad too cold? 2) there was a rack of cooling pastries right behind the cash register two steps away from where people get napkins/ add sugar to their coffee. Although I realize you need to air the pastries out and let them cool so they don't get soggy, I think for cleanliness purposes & food safety, there should be one side covered facing where the public pass through the hallway to go to the restroom and where the people are fixing their coffee. read more

This place is one of the worst bakeries I have ever been to. Visited here on a Saturday afternoon and there were only some breads and pastries in the display case. The pastries that were there looked old and not fresh. Everything here is so expensive for the size that is given. I wanted to give this place a try because the pictures looked good but this place is not worth it. I got a croissant and two other pastries with fruit on top with a milk coffee. The breads are super super dry and I could barely wash it down with their too sweet milk coffee. I definitely would not recommend this place. Their employees are ok but look overworked and stressed. Given the fact that this Paris Baguette is located in a city (Glendale) that has many high end bakeries, it has done an amazing job holding its own!! By now I have purchased every pastry, cake and bread that they offer and have never been disappointed. From one small bite one can understand the quality of ingredients and care used in preparing the pasties. Everything is delicious, light and addicting!! I like this location. We've come by here after lunch next door. It's small, quaint with a few chairs outside and one or two inside. Their pastries have high turnover, so it's usually fresh. Coffee is always served hot from the carafe. Look out for their daily specials or yelp check-in. Get your stamp card stamped for $10 or more purchase and you can earn discount rewards. Was at the plaza and decided to get some decaf coffee before leaving after spotting this bakery. I was very impressed on how organized and clean the inside was. The pastrys were very organized and displayed all around under glass and even named and labeled from ingredients to calories per pastry! Most of all which is why I am rating this a 5/5 is because of the gentlemen (asian guy cashier) who took my order. He told me the decaf would probably be cold and that he will steam it up for me if it was not up to par. I was not upset about this but was thankful for him to being honest while I was ordering. Any other person could have ignored this fact and having cold coffee would have been a turning point on my experience. My steamed decaf coffee actually tasted very good so I will deffinetely be back to try their pastrys next time and maybe ask them to steam the coffee from now on. Haha. read more
