I had a bad day today and when I got home instead of cooking we decided to treat ourselves to a mid day restaurant night. We tried to go to Steuben's but it had a wait so we walked a few doors down and ran into this spot. Completely pleasantly surprised with the service, vibes and food. I got a Cobb salad and was so happy to learn I would add fried chicken to it. My date got wings (tasty and drenched in sauce) and a steak melt which was not the star of the show (to me) but was still very much enjoyed. Pleasant experience here! Our waiter was possibly the most friendliest and funniest waiter I've ever met. We started off with pretzels with cheese and mustard which was SO temperature hot but when it finally cooled down it tasted super fresh! I ordered the fuego sandwich (I told the waiter I can only handle mild spicy, so he put the jalapeños to the side) and it had the perfect amount of kick for me. Super tasty. My work bestie and I wanted to catch up and we were both craving nachos. We decided to walk a few blocks to Park and Co as we had seen on line that they had some inspired nachos. Since it was noon on a Monday, the place wasn't terribly busy. It had a neighborhood bar feel to it. There was no visible sign at the front door saying to seat yourself. So, we had an awkward moment where we looked around and it felt like everyone was staring at us. We finally found a spot out of the way. The waitress came over right away. She was super friendly. We already knew what we wanted and ordered right away. The food came out quickly and I couldn't wait to dig in. However, the nachos were a vast disappointment. I couldn't distinguish the difference between the queso and the chipotle crema. There was very little of either. The "guacamole" as the menu refers to it was merely smashed avocado. Mine was an unripe avocado that was so hard that it was inedible. The pickled jalapenos tasted like regular jalapenos. I love plain nacho tortilla chips, but these were so bland that they weren't enjoyable on their own. Their saving grace was that fact that they stayed crispy. Excellent burger. They somehow pulled off that perfect level of cook where it's fully charred on the surface but perfectly medium on the inside and this gives the meat a bit of texture. The veggies were solid and very importantly the bun was the right consistency--not so hard that when you take a bite it squeezes out the burger but not so soft that it just falls apart on your plate. Honestly, not sure how to feel about this place. While I didn't have an overall bad experience, I had an experience that I would describe as confusing/messy. While waiting for my man candy to park the car, I had a drink at the bar and started a tab. I've ordered takeout from Park & Co twice when I was craving a decent burger - and boy did it satisfy my cravings. Ordering online is pretty simple with Park & Co, and they're able to prep things pretty quickly such that you don't have to wait too long after you place your order. Both times, I was able to pick up my order within the given time estimate too. They do a pretty solid job on their burgers, especially with their "burger sauce" as a tasty addition. The only knock on my first go-around was that I explicitly excluded pickles (I despise pickles with a great and immeasurable passion), and yet there were still pickles in my burger. I took them off, and didn't taste any of that pickle residue, but it did put a damper in my taste buds. They took it off the second go-round, and I was a happy camper then.
