Came here for breakfast with my family and the staff was very kind. The diner itself was clean and beautiful. I ordered eggs, pancakes, bacon, and potatoes. All well done and tasty, my husband had a burger and fries and stated it was really good as well. The waitress was very sweet with our toddler and brought out Crayons and a coloring page for him when she noticed he was trying to climb out of his high hair. Affordable as well. One of the best diners I've been to in NJ by far! This diner has everything you can ever imagine and hope for. Their menu is soooooo long and has everything from regular American breakfast, to Cuban dinner to a nice hearty dinner. The staff are wonderful and really make you feel homey and comfortable. The waiter I had was super attentive and made sure everything was up to par with me and my group when I went. The owner is very nice and accommodating as well. It's a quiet, relaxing and humble diner. Honestly you can't go wrong with dinning here. The Park Ave Dinner in South Plainfield NJ is an impressive looking Diner with beautiful stone and stainless exterior. They have a very large parking lot with a side street entrance which makes it easy to avoid the high speed traffic of Park Ave. Inside is a clean and inviting dining room where we were seated. Our waiter was personable and seemed to give every table the ultimate service. When my wife asked if the macaroni & cheese was any good, he said hold on I'll check. He returned within seconds and said yes, it is very good. It did arrive in a beautiful hollowed out bread bowl and plated like a 5 star restaurant would. My son and I had cheese burgers ordered medium rare and rare. The rare one was medium rare and the medium rare arrived medium well and that sucked for me. It also sucks for The Park Avenue Diner because they aren't getting a good rating. The bottom line for me is that the cook doesn't have the ability to cook a burger correctly. Hidden gem, actually went here because it is one of the few places that is 24/7 and near Avenel. It was an amazing experience, nice decor and the food was so good. My boyfriend had to order more entrees since it was that good. I had the Colossal Burger w/ fries while he had the Jack Daniel's Burger with a second order of the bacon mac & cheese. We came at a very busy time! Sunday just before noon when late breakfast and early lunch patrons were coming into the diner. I felt attended to even though it was busy, food was good and importantly! bathroom was pretty clean - no smell. They have an extensive menu. Giving a 3 but will revisit my review in the future as I feel it could move to a 4 depending on the quality of the food and skill of the cooks / chef. One point, my side of potato salad was overly salted so would advise quality control when preparing. Over salting of food causes me to go elsewhere. I can add salt to my food, if needed. Thank you! Took my husband for a Birthday lunch, our first time here. it was just ok. as we were seated the waiter wiped down the table it was dirty. You would think this would be done beforehand. Best BLT on the planet (lots of bacon but request mayonnaise). Excellent burgers and a nice variety of salads. As with any diner, the menu is huge - from all-day breakfast to dinner specials. Avocado toast with salmon is outstanding. You may have trouble finding it on the menu but it's there. I've been to several other diners in the area but this is my go-to diner. South Plainfield NJ is very close to a food desert. Yes there are a few gems here and there but in all not much to choose from. The Park Ave Diner is a nice, clean diner you could have a good meal in for a fair price. They use fresh vegetables in most of the dishes. The salads especially are very fresh. Most of the meat look to be frozen but prepared well. The burgers are very good. The fact that you can get a beer here is great! I have not done it yet but I will get to it. I would need to come eat AFTER work and not for lunch. If you need a local place to get a nice meal from a clean kitchen give the Park Ave Diner a shot. read more

Yesterday, was very bad. The server took the menus away from the table before she took our order, so that we had no menu to refer back to when we placed our order. Went downhill from there. This is NOT a good diner at all anymore. It is horrible! It was a decent place to go before the renovation, but it has gone completely down the tubes since it re-opened. It is not filthy, but it sure could use a good cleaning. That said, everything here is poorly made. I usually give a restaurant 3 strikes before I am out for good. I gave this place a dozen times because it used to be good. I kept hoping, but NOTHING. The salad dressings are so thick that they do not mix into the salad at all, but sit in a gloppy mess in the middle no matter how hard you try to mix it. How can you ruin a BLT??? Park Avenue Diner sure ruined it. Burned bacon on barely toasted soggy bread with tomatoes cut so thick you need the jaws of a crocodile to eat it. Their brioche burger buns are hard and burnt, and the burgers are so greasy. One time, my burger was actually raw on a burned bun and the waitress did nothing about it. NOTHING! The drinks are very strong so be careful if you order more than one. The food I usually get are the California burger and the jack daniel Sirloin . The burger is average from what you expect from a diner. The burger was pretty juicy but the fries were a bit below average. Was. The steak was The Jack Daniels Sirloin was also juicy , but was a bit too dry for medium rare. The veggies and mash potatoes were very good . Service was also quick and orderly whether it was quiet or busy. Free delivery is a HUGE PLUS. Would recommend if you just want a quick bite to eat or if anything is closed.
