Surprised at all the bad reviews - I went in yesterday to ship out five packages without a label and one with a label. I didn't get the name of the man, but both he and Michelle were very friendly and patient with me and my packages. We even talked about Hawaii and some other fun things in the time I was there. AVOID at his Postal Service Place the owner David charged me for a PO Box but sent back all my mail. I tried to reason with David and he was not a pleasant person he is arrogant , rude and greedy . He would not refund my money back for a years service fee for his PO BOX service although I provided him proof of a new PO BOX I got with at the Post Office I pay $97 twice and it's with the real Post Office not this fake place. They don't loose my mail or send it back and they actually treat me like a paying customer and I have access to my box 24 hours a day. They don't overcharge me for anything. The clerk Michelle is nice, and resourceful not her fault. DO NOT EVER SHIP YOUR FEDEX BOXES HERE - EVER! If I can leave a review with zero stars, I would. Just like some of the negative reviews, I tried to give this place another opportunity and still experienced the same rudeness at this shop. I had to transfer my fedex box to a pick up location since I wouldn't be at home when the box would arrive. They hold the box for up to 5 business days only. I was extremely busy at work was only had the opportunity to pick up the box on the 5th day. The lady behind the desk would not let me pick up my box because the first name on the box did not match my first name on my drivers license. I'm Asian American and my legal name is my Chinese name, however, I use my alias name for all shipments. She advised I call FedEx. I spoke with Fedex and they said as long as the address on your license matches that on the label, you can pick up the box. When I mentioned that to the lady behind the desk, she refused and said "how do I know who you're speaking to is actually fedex?" Mind you, not only did my address on my license match the box, my last name did as well. She still would not give me the box. Now I have to wait for fedex to return the box back to the shipper and then reach out to the shipper to ship it again. If you want to save time and rude customer service, believe me when I say you're better off not stepping foot ever into this dump of an establishment. read more

Incredibly rude. I can't even believe it. To start, when we were parking we were yelled at and told "this is private parking." Like sir, we know. We have business to do here can we park? So instead of parking IN FRONT of the shop where the handicapped parking was (spoiler we're handicapped) we decided to park in front of a different store. I'm assuming the man that yelled at us before is the manager because he FOLLOWED US AND YELLED AT US and took PICTURES of our car and continued yelling at us. DO NOT SHIP YOUR STUFF TO THIS PLACE!! I ordered some UGG shoes online and had the opportunity to ship them to a postal place (since i live in a sketchy area, I didn't want my package to be stolen, especially for how expensive these shoes are). UGG has this place listed as a delivery option so i chose it since its closest to me. The package was out for delivery today and when the delivery man went to deliver my package this "Postal Place" refused my package!!! They said they didn't order it...which of course they didn't, i did!‍ Anywho, my shoes were on backorder so i was excited to finally get them today but that excitement was short lived. Now because of this place my shoes were shipped back to UGG and i will need to re order the shoes which are on backorder which wont ship until late January-early February! How frustrating. Park Place Mail & Ship - Notaries Near Me - San Diego, California

This store is listed as a delivery point option on the Old Navy website if you don't want to the package sent to your home (because thieves). According to the UPS website, my order was delivered to this store. They refused the package and returned to the sender on the day it arrived. If they aren't going to provide the service, they shouldn't be offering it to begin with. Lesson learned. Next time, I will use the UPS store on Park. If you're reading this wondering why I didn't just go down to the Old Navy in Mission Valley...they aren't currently selling the items I need for my kid. So now, my kid has to wait another week to get some new pants and I don't have an excuse to go to Golden Donut. read more

Inability to multi-task in most of the cases One particular employee acts like he is policing the items so odd questioning what you are sending granted I have a business and ship all the time If I am dropping off a pre-stamped and only going to your location for a drop off for i.e., UPS, USPS etc., just route the item sir What also really bothers me is typically even if there is a long line of customers and only 1 person working, you still typically should acknowledge and/or tell other customers I will be right w/you This location is the closest postal service for the most part since the post office is closer to Hillcrest as well as the postal annex (they are both near the DMV) but its far better to go to Postal Annex and drive in most cases Last but not least, the parking is a terror most of the time in this small center area The pro is there is a tasty donut shop next to it w/great Vietnamese coffee (you can adjust the sweetness) but overall this place is a last resort versus a great place to go read more

Can you get 5 stars for shipping? Tell you what - how about 6 stars just because Dave and Michelle are just awesome. I can't tell you the number of times that they have packed all sorts of items and equipment - and nothing has been broken. I've had issues at other places. This place does get busy and it's just the two of them working the counter. As a result, you need to bring your patience - because someone is always shipping something obscure - like holiday fruitcake sculptures - and that ends up slowing down the line massively. If you see a line - go around the block, grab a donut next door - they usually clear the line in 15-20 min. Shipping is never a pleasant experience - but I've really enjoyed the customer service as well as their package holding services (we got wicked porch pirates in NP!). They also ship via all major carriers (USPS, UPS, & FedEx). read more

I have been a customer of the Postal Office on 2358 University Ave for the last 7 years (rent PO, sending and received mails and packages, as well as buying lottery tickets)))). I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation for all they do for customers and our community. It's a friendly, positive atmosphere and they always answer your questions and get to the bottom of the problems, if the customers have any issues. I like their delivery notification service. Going to the post office I know if it is a big package and I have to drive to pick it up or if it is something small that I can walk with my dog. The working hours are very convenient, and they are open on Saturday. I love coming there after my work and always feel that they are happy to see me. It makes my day! read more

Tired of the angry looking micro aggressive vibes that come off as just plain rude. I used to like coming here but when i noticed I never get a friendly greeting or a simple acknowledgement it makes me get a bad vibe being in there for any type of service... Every time I ever go I get dirty micro aggressive looks and an awkward service as if I am there to rob the place or something. I noticed I consistently get an off putting "why are you here" type of feeling when I am here. I said "good afternoon" and all I got was dead silence and stares from the guy and the older gal working behind the counter..Do better guys. Realize that there's plenty more full service places nearby where the people are friendly AND the service capabilities are actually up to date with QR code readers etc. You're falling behind in customer service, don't fall behind in what you're actually able to provide when it comes to shipping services. Overall, an experience is moreso defined by the customer interaction than by you simply being able to get something done for them like shipping a package etc. When I took a few packages that were only returnable using a QR code that I had, instead of sympathizing and offering to do something, all I got was "we do ups, but not with those codes" This wasn't my issue. My issue was the way that you have absolutely no sense of how to properly assist. All I got was a "better go elsewhere" type of response. It costs $0.00 to be a nice person. Do better. Friendly approach with intelligence and charm. Professional and courteous too. :-) Best place in town for postal service because Michelle, the manager, is a total pro and a delightful person as well. This business used to be located at what was then the Uptown Shopping Center in Hillcrest, now called the Hub. They had more room and were able to offer copying, greeting cards, knicknacks, and so on--things that they don't have the space for in their North Park location. But that's immaterial compared to the reason they had to move, at least as I understand it. The Postal Place had been at that location in Hillcrest for twenty-four years when the center was sold and the name was changed. Apparently representatives of the new administration were making the rounds and informed Michelle and the owner that they would have to find another location because their business wasn't "hip" and "trendy" enough. Wow. So they moved to a smaller space with no frills whatsoever. But at least they don't have to put up with insufferable individuals half their age who think they know something about business. Sadly, the Hub (what a name, eh?) Is anything but hip and trendy. Except for DC Computers and the pet store, there's no there there. And there's no comparison between the Postal Place and the business that replaced it. Just my opinion, of course. read more

The staff is very rude and dismissive. I walked there with my husband and got there at 11:30. The lady acted like I couldn't read and walked up to the door and pointed to the sign. What kind of postage place opens at NOON?! I told her all I need is to drop off my packages in the makeshift drop off box literally inside the door. I didn't even have to step inside the store that's how close the drop box was. (But the door was locked) She was extremely rude yelling behind the door we do not open until noon and gave me the most disingenuous smile. It made me sick. The best part- she let some random guy in and allowed him to drop off a package. This is now 11:52 and she still pushed back on letting me drop off the packages, lady! You are literally at the door allowing other people inside to drop off packages but telling me you're not open until NOON? What the actual F?! she finally allowed us to drop our packages in the shitty cardboard box to be scanned who knows when. She then proceeded to lecture me about how they don't open until noon and sat there with a smile from ear to ear. GET OVER YOURSELF and be a decent human. I've come here several times bc it's right across the street from my house. I read the other reviews and sure.. these two aren't the most chatty or personable but both have been absolutely professional and gotten the job I needed done. I wish I could give this place zero stars. I want to be gracious, but there is no other way to say this- working with the postal place was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I had a fed ex package - a birthday gift for my toddler from my parents- diverted here because we get packages stolen from our front porch. Had I know what I know now, I would have just risked it and had it delivered! As it ended up, the package was practically stolen from me by this business. The gift was addressed to my daughter (same last name/same address). When the two of us arrived to pick it up, I was told that because my ID didn't match the exact name on the package, I wasn't able to take it home. I offered to bring in a birth certificate to "prove" the name on the package was that of my daughter, a minor- a TODDLER without any type of photo identification. But the man I spoke with (who I believe is the owner) told me that wouldn't work. But he also offered me no way forward, did not bother to try to figure out a solution. He basically told me to call fed ex. Which I then did... Both my mom/I spoke with a total of four fed ex customer service representatives over a span of two days, all of whom agreed that the package should be released to me given that it belonged to a minor child. But the shop owner was caught up on following the prompt from his handheld device, which asked him if the "name on photo ID matches that on the package." Because the names did not match (obviously, because my toddler doesn't have a photo ID), he refused to release it to me. Fed Ex made a special note on my account (which they said they shouldn't even need to do). And they also tried calling the postal place directly (but no one answered). When I returned to the postal place for a second time, the owner told me that there was no way for him to access the note/ information that fed ex had added. When I kindly offered to get customer service on the phone for us to resolve it together, he refused. Truly, I felt like I was being pranked at the absurdity of his unwillingness to figure out a solution. He finally suggested that he send the package to another fed ex location, one that would release it to me given that the last name/address were the same as that on my ID (meaning that they knew to hit "yes" on the "matching name" prompt on the handheld in this type of scenario). He told me that it would get there the following day. However, it never showed up at that location. Nor did I receive any updates re: tracking. I tried calling the postal place, left a voicemail, and never heard from them. We had to call fed ex yet again and be transferred to someone to help us track the package. It was then that we were informed that our package had been returned to sender. Don't waste your time/energy with this place. I carted my three kids, including my newborn, around in search of MY package for a reason that could have been entirely avoided. I wasted hours doing this. My poor daughter was devastated that her gift was right there and yet, couldn't come home with us. It's astonishing that a business can become a fed ex authorized shipper when they don't actually abide by fed ex's own standards (which multiple customer service reps explained include releasing packages to a minor's parent). Anyway, a very kind fed ex miracle worker intercepted our package moments before it was to be shipped back and drove it to our house to hand deliver it to us one day after her shift ended. And that's the only silver lining to have come from this fiasco. I'll know better next time and plan to stay far away from this place. I hope you do, too! read more

This place as well price gouges, and considering the distance from the post office, might as well go there or to the Postal Annex. One package I had was delivered to this location, and although USPS showed proof of delivery and a confirmation this place "couldn't find it", and another package I had delivered to this same place was "lost" after USPS confirmed it delivered as well. The only thing worse than their business hours is the attitude of the horrible excuse for a human being of the crotchety old woman that works there. Never encountered a business that opens at noon and closes at 5, so my wife and I show up to drop off pre paid packages at 11:30. That's on us, however, the Crypt Keeper was in there staring at us from behind the counter and instead of opening the door to let us drop our packages in the bin literally next to the door, she points to the sign and says "that's why we have business hours" in a voice that I can only describe as a baby dolphin being speared. Funny enough, 20 minutes later, a white gentleman wants to do the same thing and she lets him in no problem. I'm white and my wife is Asian, and it was so disgustingly clear that golden girl was racist. Read the other reviews and you'll notice a pretty consistent pattern that the owners are not nice people. I went to this place because I found out I can drop my Fed ex package. When I went to the door, it was locked, I could see two people in there, I just thought during COVID, they were only allowing one person at a time in the business. I know they could see me, but they just ignored me, after a long time of waiting, one employee came to the door and pointed to a small sign with the hours, they open at 12 noon. Why did they just let me stand there looking like a fool, when they could have just told me they aren't open. They need a bigger sign stating their hours. I have had a box here for probably a decade and have always been greeted with friendly and happy employees that seem more like friends, isn't that what we all want? They have always been friendly and courteous and joking and generally the mood of the place seems quite happy. I thing the staff is professional and they know what they are doing. They always answer questions about my mail and are very helpful with packages and boxes that they hold for me. . This place is doing a lot of things right or they would not be in business for so long and I think they do an excellent job. If I had to say anything negative it would be to customers to respect the staff more by listening to them and to stay off your phone during your transaction so the process will run smoother for all of us, thanks read more

I love Hillcrest for the atmosphere and the food. NOT for the Postal Place. When I asked for a "Do Not Bend" stamp on my package the guy took a Sharpie to it and wrote Do Not Bend with each letter about as big as my hand. Classy. And they forgot to send someone's package Next Day Air and had to run it to Kinko's. Way to be on top of things! By the way, this wasnt my first visit. It was my 2nd.
