We were driving to LA and searched Taco's along the way. Decided to stop by this very small town off of 101. To our surprise, the food was so good and authentic. Had best Mexican food in a while. Stopped by the tiny town of San Miguel for a taco fix. The restaurant is tiny and has an open kitchen so you can see the chef at work. There are several tables available inside and outside as well. The place is nice and colorful and inviting. You get chips and salsa at the table while you're waiting which is nice. The salsa had a great flavor. Food wise, I tried the asada tacos and the carnitas taco. I felt the asada was lacking a little seasoning and slightly chewy. The carnitas were delicious. I also tried the chicken enchilada which was my favorite. I ordered that with a side of refried beans which were very flavorful as well. Overall a solid pick for a Tex-Mex fix. read more

Our second time visiting Paso Robles and stopping by San Miguel for try their food. The first time it was amazing and was really authentic. This time it felt alittle different. Service was great, the waitress and chef were super nice. This time it felt more like Tex mex style and even American music was playing versus Mexican. It's not a bad thing. We tried their tacos and I had their carnitas burrito which was amazing and filling. Tacos were good and of course we got the chips and salsa. Salsa was ok. Didn't taste authentic to me but it was ok. The horchata was super good. Again, not saying it's bad, the food was great but not as authentic as the first time we went. Food was not what you call Mexican. My taco was paired with the sope which made it all soggy and the taste was not at all good. My husband ordered shrimp tacos but the taste was not good so he said "do t eat lets go, I dont want to get sick." Drinks we good and our waitress was amazing. I went because of the yelp reviews but as we got there it said owner change in April. The sign in the kitchen said, Never Trust a stinky Cook! No maam! I ordered the hard shell taco plate to-go for lunch and it was so good. The to-go plate was sturdy and packaged well. I got chicken with rice and the portion was so filling and the chicken was moist plus the rice was also flavorful. I also got complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was good and I ended up saving the left over since it was that good . I ended up going there later for dinner. We sat down and the setting in the restaurant is nicely decorated and clean. The wait wasn't too bad and we got complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was mild , definitely fresh and homemade. I ordered a cheese enchilada combo with rice and my husband ordered a chicken salad. Both great sized portions. The quality, price ,and service was great. Although it was not on the menu, when I asked if they could modify the burrito to add grilled vegetables instead of their meat items it was not a problem at all. I think this was one of the best veggie burritos I have ever had because the grilled vegetables were cooked to perfection! We often travel by San Miguel and this will become our new place for meals because it is an easy stop right off the highway and it has plenty of parking for our travel trailer. This is a small restaurant tucked in a corner. There is indoor and outdoor seating available (flies are relentless if sitting outside). Service was nice and prompt. There are a few parking spots available right in front of the outdoor eating area. Upon being seated, the waitress brought out a giant bowl of tortilla chips and medium spicy salsa. I tried the asada and chicken tacos. The portions are generous and the plates have tons of meat! They had some kid's meal options, which was also generous in size. I've returned with C to have dinner at her favorite spot in town. My last visit was not so convincing that this place is as good as the five stars shown on Yelp. In all fairness we returned and I ordered four shrimp tacos, and a side of guacamole, C had a chicken qusa dilla. I will say that everything was Great! Plenty of shrimp on my street taco's, flavor was outstanding. The qusa was thick with chicken and cheese a meal in itself...now I can see why there were so many five star reviews, hard earned and well deserved. Very small place in San Miguel right off the 101. I thought the map was giving me wrong directions as I left the boulevard in this town that only has one major road. When I found it and went in they had just opened so I had the place to myself. Staff were friendly and fast. The table salsa was very flavorful but lacked spice. I ordered 2 shrimp tacos al a carte. When I initially got my plate I thought the order was wrong, I could not see the tortillas underneath the mounds of shrimp. They cook the shrimp in a finely diced pico de gallo and serve it inside the taco. Overall it had a nice flavor and the two were enough to eat leaving me full. Loved it. Stopped in when I was on my way back to Morro Bay after driving up to Mission San Antonio de Padua in Jolon. Service was friendly and fairly quick. The Mafia Burrito was delicious. Big shock I chose carnitas. I love carnitas. I also ordered some guacamole with the chips before the meal came. It was pretty good. Very fresh. And the beer was ice cold. The burrito was huge. This is a must-try for taco lovers! The fish tacos are some of the best I've had. They are served like street tacos with two small corn tortillas per taco. The fish was grilled and served with lots of finely chopped veg. There was a light sauce but it was more like a lemon drizzle than a sauce. So good! We also had chicken tostadas and a giant burrito. The chicken on the tostadas and in the burrito was shredded and braised in a rich and flavorful sauce. It was so tender and made the dishes outstanding. The ambiance was great! We sat outside under a thatched umbrella. It was so pleasant. And to top it off, the service was great. The Large Burrito is always excellent, I definitely recommend to get it wet style, the sauce is very flavorful and the carne asada has great taste.
