Before last weekend, I would have given Parkside Cafe a 5-star rating. But, last weekend, we had an issue. My Mother-in-Laws and my food came out cold. Ok.. things happen.. it's the recovery that really makes a difference. We waited an exorbitant amount of time for the food to be replaced, and again, it was cold! We are talking eggs and home fries.. nothing major. The manager took all our food and drinks off the bill, and as we walked out, we stopped to thank the manager for taking care of us, and he decided to ARGUE with us that we don't know what we are talking about and his food is NEVER cold! He sat there making comment about my attitude, saying he didn't like my tone. Really? If he only knew the attitude and tone I could have had. I ventured into Parkside Cafe after reading the Yelp reviews. I have yet to try their regular food, but I have had breakfast there 3 times now. I have loved everything I have tried other than their gravy (it is too thin and tastes canned). Their Greek Skillet is really good and probably my favorite thing so far. I like to order it with my eggs over easy so that the yolk runs down into the potatoes, gyro, etc. Sprinkle on some salt and some ketchup. It's SO good. Make sure you order the grilled biscuits as your bread, they are awesome. Their Kielbasa is also delicious! They slice it down the center and grill it. Yum. The Quiche Lorraine is pretty good and I like the fresh fruit it came with. The staff is always friendly and efficient. We have enjoyed our experiences at Parkside Cafe and we will continue to visit. read more

On our regular breakfast rotation now! This place is solid. So glad we decided to stop in. Dining area is bigger than it looks from the outside. We were seated fairly quick for how busy they were. Coffee was actually ok. Food was better. Huge portions and great on taste! I ordered some special they had going on that was 3 pancakes, 3 eggs, and 3 bacon for like $6-7. Too much food! Luckily I had my family with me who each took a pancake. Pancakes were fluffy and had a nice texture. Hubby ordered the country fried steak,eggs, hashbrowns, and a grilled biscuit. My son ordered a bacon and egg sandwich on a croissant with hashbrowns. Everyone was very happy with their food. That grilled biscuit was on point. Service was great and the food did not take long to come out. They also have a lunch/dinner menu that features a wide variety of options...or order breakfast for dinner! First timer! This place is great! Nice cute diner setting and the staff was nice as well. I can't believe I have never seen this place because it's literally right down the street from my job. I called to place an order for pick up. I was craving corned beef hash (it's more of like an addiction) and asked the young lady on the phone if it was prepared with potatoes. She (not so kindly) responded "I don't know, I don't eat that stuff." Really? Well I don't smoke crack but I bet I could give you a fairly accurate description of it. Anyway, that did not take away from my experience here. The corned beef hash was amazing! Tried Parkside again - for lunch this time. I had the Reuben sandwich, fries, and coleslaw. The Reuben was good, but was on pumpernickel bread (I prefer rye/pump swirl) and it seemed to be toasted bread, rather than grilled with butter. To me a Reuben should be somewhat "greasy" on the outside and this was dry. Still very tasty, and probably a lot healthier, but that's not my goal when ordering a Reuben. Everything else was very good. On a side note, there was a customer that was very hard to please sitting a few tables away, and 2 different waitresses helped with their "issues" in a very pleasant way. I have to give both of these ladies credit, because most people at some point would have said enough and sent the manager over to deal with it, but they handled the whole situation very professionally. read more

We were desperate to find a breakfast spot after driving around St. Pete all morning. We finally arrived here at about 10 on a Sunday morning to a completely backed room (lobby included). Disappointed, we almost left to find someplace with a seemingly shorter wait. But we got lazy and planned to wait it out. So glad we did! Park side cafe really hit it out of the park! We waited less than 5 minutes and were seated in a great little booth with an excellent waitress. The menu had a wide variety of options, and I loved my veggie omelette. The portion sizes were huge, and were shockingly inexpensive. I was thrilled with the choice, and felt marvelously satiated after the meal. Upon arriving it was extremely busy which is a good sign and I was hopeful that the meal would live up to the hype. This is the most unfriendly restaurant manager I have ever encountered. We asked for a quiet table for a short business meeting. The rude male manager put us in a room with a loud 20 top breakfast party. When the kind waitress tried to move us, he said no, there is another group coming in for this area. When we asked (politely) for a booth near the door that had just been vacated, he said "Look, I have been a manager here for long time. I say you cannot sit where you want". When you first walk in, you notice that it is clean. We were greeted at the door by a very nice lady who led is to our seats. It has an old fashion diner style bar which gives it a nostalgic feel. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. I ordered sweet tea and hubby had a strawberry milkshake. The tea could be a bit sweeter for my taste but I'm from the south where we like it super sweet. The milkshake was made with fresh strawberries and was awesome. We have been patrons for many years but usually breakfast or dinner! We got hooked on the fabulous pork steaks! After covid, they cut back ro days and eventually 3 nights til 8. Prices rose a little but we were glad to have the nights back. Last week, to our surprise there's now an up charge of $1.25 plus when the salads came they were noticeably smaller! Same quality but less. And the pork steaks, although nice sized are thinner. Pork is cheaper than beef but at $15.99, it was way overpriced! We like the place and help but enoughs enough! They only have a few servers and they really hustle. My coffee cup stayed full! I had the Italiano skillet. Two eggs over easy, potatoes, peppers, onions, sausage and meatballs. I typically get an omelet, my boyfriend orders eggs with biscuits and gravy and we split a banana pancake. We tried it for dinner once....stick with going for breakfast! Just for the record I have been eating at Parkside Cafe in Pinellas Park, FL for over 10 years. In 10 years they have not given me a free meal or even a free desert, they don't even know my name. When it is my need to eat healthy stuff I go there, about twice a month. I know when I eat there I will get a large fresh salad and a fresh vegetable with my meal. None of that peas and carrots stuff. Everything is made from scratch and really good. Their home made soups are fantastic. My favorite is a toss up between Lemon Orzo Chicken and Beef-Barley soup. I even like their Navy Bean soup, which I do not like anywhere else. And you get a big bowl not a cup. Their daily specials are always my choice. My favorite is their Salmon Divan with noodles. The first time I expected little chunks of Salmon on noodles with a white sauce. It arrived with a very large cut of salmon over noodles with a heavenly herb scampi sauce with broccoli, artichokes hearts and sun dried tomatos, just the thought of it makes me drool. This week I had their Salmon Picatta, it wonderful with capers and lemon butter sauce. And don't think they have only fish, their Beef Tips over Noodles is a winner. I love their Lamb Shank, in fact I just had lamb shank at a so-called Italian restaurant which tasted exactly the same as Parkside Cafe but was twice the price. Their pork chops are tasty but I recommend you skip the veal. Yes their prices are low, a full meal of home made soup or fresh salad, a garden vegetable, very taste rolls (if you ask) and a fantastic entree for under $10.00. Service is caring if not PC, the waitresses usually remind me of my favorite aunt. They make sure you enjoy your meal, I believe they really care, and if you are nice they may call you "honey". read more

My wife and I patronized this establishment for breakfast on 5/52012 after reading some reviews on Yelp and came to the conclusion though while it was better than Denny's it was far cry from a fantastic dining experience. I ordered their Classic Eggs Benedict While my wife ordered the Garden Skillet. The food was OK. It wasn't that great, the food seemed to have a lack of lust and the water was warm. The server was nice and speedy but the environment was also a Denny's quality place as well. We had a combo meal and a skillet with eggs, potatoes, ham.... Coffee was very good. I noticed they grind the beans just before they brew.
