I thought I was going to love this place like I loved the hike to Stinson Beach. The sunny patio was oozing good vibes all over the place. At around 9:30AM, Jiwon M and I took the last available outdoor table and were looking forward to a relaxed, hearty brunch. You can't see the ocean from the patio, but it's surrounded by quaint markets that sell locally sourced food. When we passed by later in the day, it was SUCH CROWDED. Live music and a lively atmosphere creates a positive feedback loop. The initial excitement for us started fading as we perused the menu (both sides) for the second, third... fifth time. Long enough for even indecisive people like me to choose an option. And by this time, we still hadn't gotten any water. Finally we flagged down a flustered looking waiter who took our orders and forgot our water, which meant we had to flag down a very spaced out table boy. Looking around, we were in the same boat as nearly every other party on the patio - trying to blend into the mellow scenery while waiting eternity x23421 for progress to be made on our meals. Tried the Biscuits & Strawberries and Eggs Benedict w/ avocado, washed down with the Maverick smoothie. The B&S is like two yogurt-stuffed biscuit sandwiches. It was good on the first bite, but the combo of vanilla yogurt + honey + strawberries turned almost nauseously sweet after half the first biscuit burger was consumed. Rationing the biscuit to balance the rest of the dish was more difficult than anticipated. No complaints about the Eggs Benedict - a solid choice if you're a fan of the traditional! And smoothie is nothing to talk about. Overall, not worth the price or the WAIT. A single bathroom is located inside Parkside, tucked away in the waaay back corner. Kind of resembles a closet? But it's much cleaner and more well-equipped than the ones you'll find at the beach or the basketball park, so take advantage. Even if that means ignoring the "no waiting next to the bathroom" signs. read more

I had the Caesar Salad and roasted chicken, perfection! I would have went with the crab, but wanted to keep it on the lighter side. I'm a sucker for a great patio and Parkside has a lovely patio surrounded by nice plants and citrus trees. The only other real positive was the drip coffee was good. Prices were high, portions were fairly small, and the food was just ok. Given the location right near Stinson beach, I can wrap my head around higher prices, but the miserably slow service made us all wish we had chosen a different place for lunch and I would not return. read more

The food is great, love the location but the service was super disappointing. I drove 45 minutes to treat myself to a crab Benedict that I LOVE there. I brought my dog and asked how long they served breakfast, and was told all-day. Great, I walked my dog on the beach first and came back a few minutes after 1:00. The waiter told us breakfast just ended. We told him we were told it was all-day. It was a very foggy uncrowded Sunday. No one would make an exception or cared. Continent location. Food is decent but definitely not worth the price. The water cost money apparently due to COVID, but come on....you have no problem serving beer in a glass? I got sick from their food. I ordered from their shack and was given cold to room temp pizza and sent on my way. I got incredibly sick and when I contacted the management, they tried to convince me that I was sick from something else, but I hadn't ate for almost 24 hours the day before. Very cute restaurant in an beautiful location. Unfortunately terrible service. Our server argued with us when we asked so sit down and get some apps/beers. They had 9+ open tables. We were a table of 5 and were probably going to spend 100s of dollars at this establishment. Luckily we did not. After spending our hard earned money we were ushered out being told they had a waitlist. Still there was 9+ tables open.as we were exiting the establishment my friend needed to use the restroom and was yelled at by a staff member. I have never written a review in my entire life except for this establishment. And honestly I would probably get better service at San Quentin. read more

Horribly rude staff and "restaurant policies". Drove an hour to Stinson beach for a birthday lunch, and planned to eat outside at Parkside. We showed up and asked if we could eat at the outdoor patio wooden tables, and they said "no that area is closed". OK - we have a dog, so we'll take our food to go and sit at the park across the street. We were planning to order approx $60 of food + tip. My partner had to use the restroom (after a 1h drive) and the beach restrooms were closed. She asked if she could use the restroom while we waited for our $60 of TOGO food, and she said NO! "Restaurant policy - you must be a SIT IN CUSTOMER to use the restoom. (This was a Wednesday, the place was basically empty) .But we had a small dog, couldn't sit inside (as expected), couldn't sit outside (for no reason), and couldn't' even use the restroom while we got take out! We asked again and pleaded with this individual - and they still loudly said no, embarrassing us in front of other customers. We decided to cancel our order and leave this horrible business. We left feeling completely disrespected after planning a pleasant birthday afternoon. Ended up finding port-o-potties and eating some snacks from another market. read more

Came here after a beautiful day kayaking with some family and friends out toward Bolinas. We plopped ourselves down at a table and immediately dumped out our Bananagrams set to get started with some fun word games. The menu is vast, the food is fresh, and the service is immaculate. Our waiter, Javier, struck the perfect balance of checking in on us, while allowing time between uninterrupted to enjoy each other's company. We got the Niman Burger, the Chilled Hog Island Oysters, Hand Cur Fries, Fish and Chips, and some sort of dungeness crab risotto - it was spectacular! While the place is a bit pricey, the experience was well worth the spend, and is probably the best you're going to get out there in Stinson. We will definitely be coming back! read more

Great place to load up before hitting the trails! I love the hiking around Stinson Beach. The trails are great and you usually tend to burn a full tank of gas walking up and down those hills and around the trees, so it is even more important to fill up before you head out! Parkside Cafe is one of my favorite spots because they serve no nonsense breakfasts, the service is great and the ingredients are always fresh. It does not hurt that they have plenty of parking right next to them and are a few steps from the beach! read more

I absolutely hate this place and it seems like I'm in good company. The staff here are RUDE and are so far removed from how a service oriented team should act. The weathered, elderly "woman in charge" (as you'll see in other reviews) is downright nasty. She acts as if you should be giving HER service for having the privilege of eating here. The food is BLAND and the prices are more EXPENSIVE than San Francisco. Want to eat on their beautiful patio? Be prepared to get pooped on by the absurd amount of disease ridden pigeons that hangout right above the tables. My poor friend got SHAT on TWICE and the boomer in charge literally was like "what do you want me to do about it?" No apologies, no attempts to rectify, just a stern, cold look from her. Our server told my black friend that her only tipping 8$ that she was subjecting her to slavery which we have on video. She was also telling us that she makes minimum wage and trying to make us feel bad about being broke teens not able to tip more. She was arguing with other costumers about using the bathroom and arguing with us, four highschoolers. The food was pretty bad and extremely expensive for inadequate portions which was not enough to feed the four people at my table. A quick impromptu rainy day lunch on our way up the coast. Despite the less than stellar reviews, we decided to follow the smell of sourdough. We had the table bread with fresh pesto (a house specialty) alongside the clam chowder and it was all excellent. The clam chowder was fresh, well balanced and the serving size was perfect. What a fun little beach town surprise! We started with Hog Island Oysters, which were small and a little salty, but tasty. I love that they served it with Black Caviar and a nice White Wine Minette. We just shared fish and chips, which were crunchy and tasty. A hamburger that was being served to someone else looked delicious and I wish for once I would have ordered that! The service was friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was a fun "beach" one. It was quite pricey for what they served, and I did not order the Crab Cakes, as they were $38.00, and usually would have enjoyed those. The French Fries were plentiful and crisp. I really liked the soft-serve ice cream for dessert, even though I can probably have the same thing from Mcdonald's and pay 1/4 the price. I would love to try other things on the menu! read more

The regular Stinson Beach breakfast spot. Fabulous freshly baked goods. Sit out on the patio, soak up the sun & the sea air & nosh away. Over the years I've found its best to stick w french toast or pancakes. Do bananas or berries, or both, & life is very good. Literally & figuratively. Majorly family friendly. And being a bonafide beach town, of course it's uber dog friendly too. Win win. My last visit we sat at the counter & just had a plate of french fries as a mid afternoon snack. My man had never been here, & I wanted him to see it. It's a little bit diner, & a little bit beach cafe. Extremely casual & comfortable. Patio seating is lovely! We came hungry after a long hike and appreciated the convenience of this restaurant. Rounding up 3.5/5. Pros: solid food, outdoor seating. Cons: Pricey, lots of flies on the outdoor tables. Most picnic tables are shaded by umbrellas, which makes dining more pleasant in the sun. The only drawback to sitting outside were the fruit flies on the picnic tables, maybe due to all the lemon trees. There must've been 10+ on our table before we sat down. They dispersed around our plates but remained on the empty areas of the table. The food was quite good but pricey. I ordered a catch of the day, with cod, which came with a mix of roasted vegetables. My friends had fish & chips and the cobb salad. Everything was within the $24-28 range. Extra for bread, although the pesto dip with it was a nice touch. I also ordered the raspberry lemonade which came in a cute mason jar. We all enjoyed our food and the ambiance. read more

My friend and I visited this restaurant for the second time recently and I was appalled by the terrible service/management. TL;DR Management was rude and threatened to fire any employees that would help us and then chased after me and my friend to yell at us after we walked back in asking for napkins. My friend and I sat down to eat on a windy, cold day where the restaurant was empty. We realized they did not have pizza on the menu (which we had got the previous time and loved). When we asked bout it, we were told there was absolutely no table service and we had to order it to go. So, we get up and go to the counter to order our pizza. On the menu, at the top it says pizza is to go or for the patio seating. We walk around while the pizza is being prepared and come back when it's ready. The woman at the counter was one of the most disrespectful people I've met in my life. I asked, "since no one is here, could we just eat our pizza over there?" And she responded in an extremely rude tone, "absolutely not! There is no eating on the premises. If anyone allows that here, they would be fired." I assume it was the manager speaking loudly so everyone could hear. We point to the menu to ask about the patio and she cuts us off to continue yelling. My fries were not ready yet and she pushed me out the door and told me to wait outside in the cold. We began to walk and realized we needed napkins so we headed back and stepped inside to grab napkins and we're immediately snapped at, "what are you back here for?!" At this point, we are frustrated so we respond, "just grabbing napkins, don't worry, we aren't trying to eat here." And she chased us out the door to yell at us while shaking her fist... I'm not sure why this place is rated so poorly. The employees were very nice and the food was great. The host said our order would be ready in 20 mintues so we just walked to the corner market to buy some drinks. Our order was ready soon after we returned. We were starving after our hike and were totally revived by the pizza!!!! We just walked our pizza to the picnic tables by the beach. It was perfect. We were able to split the entire pizza between 2 people. We were so hungry. I forget what the pizza was called but it had red sauce, cheese, grape tomatoes and arugula. The crust was very thin and crispy and the flavor was great. A few slices didn't have enough grape tomatoes but that was just a minor thing. The potato pizza -This one is my husbands favorite. I love the fingerling potatoes on it. They are the perfect size for the slices! The heirloom pizza - I love the halved cherry tomatoes on it. Spent a week at the beach. The snack shack is great and always has been. Bakery - bread and pastries also fantastic. Restaurant is a disappointment. We went for lunch one day and it was just okay. Went for dinner one night and it was super disappointing. Very expensive and very small portions. I'm sure the last few years have been tough on them. I understand that. But the quality of the food was not great and the flexibility of the staff also not great. I just had the worst dining experience in my entire 70 years at the Parkside Cafe. I just arrived in Stinson Beach with my family (including 2 small Grandchildren) for a 7 day vacation, and walked down to the Parkside for breakfast. We saw outdoor tables and an area with muffins, coffee, burritos etc. before we ordered I asked the server could we sit at the outside tables, she said yes so we proceeded to order over $60 with or items. We get our food, head to the tables, get the kids set up to eat - and someone comes over and says we can't sit there, it is for table service only. And not one table had customers. I said we were told before we ordered all the food we could eat there. They said we would have to eat in the park (!!!!). Surprised, angry and with kids in tow we head to the park to eat on wet benches. I later went back to the restaurant to use the rest room and I am once again told no. The restrooms are for table service guests only! If I wasn't a customer I could understand. It was all pretty jarring. read more

UPDATE: One day later, I took my friends to look at different menus in Stinson Beach for take out, and we realized they also have a full pizza menu to go with some great vegetarian options! we had the brussel sprout, butternut squash pizza, and it was pretty tasty. probably the only restaurant in Stinson Beach with any decent selection of vegetarian options. Original review Vegetarians review: we had come here several years ago for dinner and had the mushroom pesto pasta, beet salad, and gnocchi. Gnocchi was most disappointing as gnocchi dishes are generally great but their gnocchi was mushy and lacking chewiness. For a restaurant with $15-20 price tag minimum per dish, it was. Not acceptable. Otherwise the food was good. Fast forward to yesterday, the dishes we ordered are still on the menu and not much else available for vegetarian options. Avoiding the gnocchi, We ordered the same mushroom pesto pasta, beet salad without the blue cheese and added club sandwich without bacon. The server mentioned they would add more avocado to the sandwich without us asking. Food yesterday was great! Mushroom pasta had good flavor, good chewy texture to the pasta and the mushroom, club sandwich had great buns and and natural veggie flavors tasty side fries, and the beet salad flavorful with tender beets. Food is well proportioned and great ambiance. Overall a great experience, and they accommodated us with our baby stroller replacing 2 chairs. If you are vegetarian and havent tried this place, its a great place to go once in a while, but we wouldnt come back too frequently as the vegetarian menu havent changed much in years!
