Man the service just isn't good, and I get it person reading this review you've got no other choice, literally there is no other place to eat. We ordered a pizza and a burger I left a 20% tip (for takeout). They tell us 20-30 minutes. At 30 min we peek in and there is just a cold burger sitting with no pizza. The gal doing to go is just on her phone constantly with no mask on (but does put it on when talking to us). We ask about the pizza she says it's not done yet. We wait. I eat a cold hamburger and cold fries. We continue to wait. 1hr after ordering we ask her about it and what a surprise it "just came out of the oven." We receive the pizza and it's warmish and as people who own a restaurant we know that when a pizza is made and boxed up it's put on the oven to warm until the customer gets it. We say that we are so sorry but could she just toss it in the oven for just a few minutes to heat it back up (I mean we've been waiting an hour for what? Luke warm pizza). She takes it back with an attitude and starts to bitch about us in the kitchen. Dudette all the windows and doors are open we can hear you cussing about us. I mean we get it, as mentioned, my spouse owns a restaurant it's so frustrating when customers complain, but after patiently waiting and tipping well we would like hot food. I let her know we could hear her cussing about us, bc I think she should know she needs to complain about customers a bit quieter. If you bring your own food to Stinson beach you can save yourself $60, luke warm food, and attitude. This is my first 1 star review but I felt this place definitely deserves this. After a long hike we decided to visit this quaint looking cafe. We sat down and ordered a hot chocolate and a smoothie to start. While waiting we as a group decided we wanted to try the pastry from the bakery next door instead of eating the hot food here. The waitress comes around, and asks what we would like. I told her I would like another hot chocolate, but we are not ordering food. Her eyes lights up, and she says 'Oh, we have a wait list here. If you are not ordering food we would request you to take out so as to free up the space for patrons who will order food.' I look around, there are some free tables, but there are also some people standing around the front. "Ok, sure we will do that", was our response. It didn't feel nice but hey, I understand as a business you need to be firm if other people are waiting. This is not the reason I am leaving a 1 star review. The waitress comes back, with the hot chocolate i ordered in a take out cup, and she brings another empty take out cup for the hot chocolate my friend was drinking. She was not going to give my friend time to finish the hot chocolate. We get the hint, my friend pours the hot chocolate in the mug to the take out cup. We leave to go. At this point, there is nobody standing in the front, and there's clearly 3 big tables (in an establishment of like 10 tables in total) that are free. I am not happy at this point, but whatever. I do decide to not give a tip in this case though, because the waitress basically refused to serve us so why should I pay tip to pay for non-existant service. As I walk out after signing the 3 different receipts I was handed, I hear her saying to me, without looking at me "thanks for the tip by the way". Well done Parkside Cafe in hiring such great people. Very expensive for the quality of food. The Calamari was definitely frozen and then heated in a microwave. It was chewy with no flavor. The clam chowder was definitely from a can then spiced up with garlic, parsley and two pieces of toast. Calamari $22 Clam chowder $12. I love this place. It is hard for the workers here with people coming from all over the Bay Area standing in lines and being really impatient and sometimes very rude to the workers. So I cut them slack and like them. Baked goods are some of the best I've ever had- either brioche dough pastries or croissant dough pastries. Only dough I didn't like was the tart dough, because I don't like a crumbly sandy style pastry dough. But if you like that texture it is well made. The fruits they use in their pastries are also high quality. Their veg pizza with truffle oil and pesto is incredible and well balanced. Good coffee too. If you to the Market behind the restaurant please wear a mask. We like to buy a salmon entree and a sandwich from the fridge and the salmon and couscous is so delish with the best barbecue sauce I've ever had on the side. I also buy a loaf of Levain to take home. Products back here at the store are really expensive like a bar of chocolate was $17 that I put back. But if you are loaded then go to town because the quality of the goods is unbeatable. Part of the pleasure of Stinson for me is being able to buy food from Parkside and enjoy it on the beach and at home. But like I said the employees here get a lot of grief from some of the customers. Stopped here for an impromptu outdoor late lunch with a large group. Nice setting, right by Stinson Beach. Waitress was good. Food was okay but really overpriced for what it was. Three of us ordered specials which were not priced on the menu. Our fault for not asking but they were really pricey on the bill ($36 for a lunch entree, relatively small portion). Restaurant policy not to split bills. We were not asking for anything complicated, just a 50/50 split and they refused. Then after we had paid and left (over $400 for 7 people for lunch), my wife needed to use the restroom and they rudely refused, saying since we had finished our meal it was restaurant policy to not let her use the restroom. She was masked so that was not the issue. She had to ask the manager who grudgingly let her in. Not a high bar to treat your customers properly. Dreadful. I ate here for breakfast. It used to be very good. Now the service was terrible and the food was expensive and very poor. The menu is pretentious with prices set accordingly. Then the food is badly cooked and plain. I ordered a dish called eggs with beans and rice. I was expecting something like huevos rancheros. I received dry, overcooked pale yellow scrambled eggs, black beans out of a can, plain white rice and cold tortillas obviously taken straight from the package, rolled and plopped on the plate. A decent spot to soak up the Stinson Beach sun on a nice day. We've eaten here twice now and most times have been pleasant. The food has been OK, and the portions big, but nothing has ever been wowing. I recommend sticking to their burger or their catch of the day. Just note that they only have one bathroom - and there is always a line -so be prepared for a wait. After eating at Parkside several times over the years yesterday's meal will be our last. What the Parkside has going for it (stunning setting, quality ingredients and fairly good straightforward food) is overwhelmed by horrific customer service. I have found the demeanor of the hostess ( /owner?) to be consistently so off putting that it makes it very difficult to enjoy myself. I guess the hostess is an owner because otherwise I'm certain she would have been fired half way through her first shift. There are copious other reviews that attest to her poor attitude but I'll share that her perspective on serving her customers stretches to an extremely slow kitchen and inattentive waitstaff. If you grit your teeth and chose to eat at the Parkside after dealing with that woman your temper will probably begin to ease after a second glass of wine (assuming it arrives before the check) because the food product is better than you'd expect and the setting is great. With that said, going forward we've made the decision to take our business to more welcoming restaurants. read more

All I can say is wow. I came here on a bike ride and spent $14 on a brisket sandwich that had way too much fat, $3.75 on a burnt latte, and $4 on a dry pastry. Before heading back on the road, I asked to use the restroom and was told NO! The waitress was extremely rude claiming that it was "her boss's policy". I honestly can't believe that after spending over $25 (after tax and tip) I was getting refused to use the bathroom and being pointed across the street to the public port-o-potties. My son and I came across this gem after going to Muir Woods. There is a takeout area with pizza and then we went to a quaint outdoor area with bench tables. We looked at the menu and there was a good baked selection of choices. We both chose the burger and fries. It came out pretty quickly and was perfectly cooked. The fries were great as well. This was one of the best burgers I have had in a long time. Not on a hamburger bun, but on a brioche type of bun. The server was very attentive and polite and we had everything we needed. The one issue was a lady at another table who was very demanding and rude to the server. She sat there and said she was going to write a bad review. She wanted a pizza, but the server politely told her that is served at the other end of the building in another business and if she ordered it from her it would have to be taken out. She did not like that answer and told her that did not make sense and she wanted a pizza. Then she rudely asked for a pizza menu. When she asked for the check the server POLITELY said that the other place would have that and she could pay there. This server had more patience than I would have had. Anyway, great burgers (can't vouch for anything else, but with the quality of the burgers I can assume that everything would be good there) This is a must if you are in the area. So disappointed today, June 17. Was at the cafe a couple of months ago and would have given it 5 stars. Today we were seated at the table by the entrance, by about 6 waiters/busboys, so noisy. But the worse part was a really bad odor at the table. Not sure were it was coming from, but I told the guy that seated us and he said he couldn't move us, even though the restuarant was half empty. This Stinson Beach venerable institution serves delicious fresh seafood in a fun, beach-adjacent location. The service, as other reviews note, may often leave something to be desired, but hey, Stinson is a sleepy beach village that has to draw on a largely high school staff, so what do you expect? The food alone is worth the visit, although pricey (wine price inflation!). Our server was friendly and attentive. I had one of the best seafood stews I've ever had. Friends! I don't know what changed at Parkside Cafe but the chef there right now is THE BOMB! We've been a few times over the year and the food was meh at best. But something is new!! We took a ride to the beach to take our new car for a spin. We needed dinner and Parkside was the only place open in Stinson. We ordered 4 things: crostini with hummus and cauliflower-curry/olive tapenade, fish tacos, calamari, kids pasta. Ok. The crostini. Not what was expected but I will go back just for this dish. It's more like a baked flat bread cut up with herbs and then the hummus topped with the unique tapenade. WOW! The calamari was so fresh and also had a unique tasting cocktail sauce. Like a Spanish version with cilantro. So interesting and GOOD! The tacos came with lightly floured pan fried fish over a green salsa, fresh avocado slices on the side with tortillas. WHAT?! This was our first time going to Stinson Beach. We traveled pretty far and had an entire day planned of hiking and grabbing some nice lunch somewhere close to the beach. We were very excited. When we got there parking lot was full but we got lucky and found a nice big open spot to park. After the long drive we were hungry. So off we went looking for a good spot to eat. We came across this cafe, read the menu and figured it sounded good. Besides there was no wait ( on a Memorial Day weekend that should have been our first red flag). We got seated right away. Our Waitress comes over to take our order. And asks us what we would like to drink. So my BF says a Diet Coke. Right away she says we don't serve soda. We have lemonade and ice tea we thought that was a little strange ( 2nd red flag) but thought nothing more of it and said water was fine. So she continued to take our order. I ordered the fish and chips and my BF ordered the clam chowder. Clam chowder was ok. But...let me tell you. The fish was horrible. For all you fish foodies out there. If you have had good fish you know what good fish should taste like. First let me say. This fish is frozen not fresh. It was soggy, no flavor, slimy , the bloodline was not even removed that's right brown fish people, it was just disgusting. Not to mention, the prices were absolutely egregious given the quality of the food. 27 dollars for Fish n Chips. The Fish n Chips order was promptly sent back and removed from the bill fortunately. Which gave our waitress a bit of attitude (3rd and final red flag). Not sure why because I told her it had nothing to do with her. However, then our waitress felt the need to exclaim that customers usually love the Fish n Chips. Lol I didn't say anything. Based on other reviews here, that is NOT entirely true. The food was ok but ridiculously priced. The restaurant is in a beautiful location so I would ordinarily be ok with the high prices if it weren't for the terrible service. I sat down at 11 am on a weekday to have lunch and to do some work on my computer. The restaurant was empty except for me and two other tables. After 30 minutes, the waitress told me that I would have to "bounce" if they started to get busy and that the owner has a 1-hour policy. It would be one thing if I had been there for several hours during a very busy time, but I had not been there for even an hour. There was no need to say anything to me at that point. That combined with their stupid bathroom policy (see other reviews) made me feel extremely unwelcome and I definitely won't be back. Good job owner, whomever you are. My family and I visit Stinson quite a bit but won't eat at your restaurant ever again and will make sure our friends and family know about it. read more

I just ate at Parkside Cafe in Stinson Beach and had a very bad experience. I sat on the bench seat. It flipped up and knocked me to the ground. The young waiter, instead of helping me get up told me it was my fault. The bench seat was made incorrectly as I was told by the waitress that the restaurant has been having problems with the way they were made. Either way there should be signs up warning people and the management should eliminate the seats. My experience with this restaurant only tells me they could care less about people who eat there only the money they can make from them. read more

I've bought their bread for years, but it is consistently 3-4 oz less than the stated1.5 lb size. I've emailed them about this, but they didn't respond. The best "veggie" omelette I have ever had. The truffle oil drizzled on the veggies were so fragrant and delicious. Assumed it would be too much and oily but it was like a sauce to the omelette. The veggies were cooked perfectly. Had a savory lemon taste that made the dish very refreshing to eat. The veggies were still crunchy and not overcooked. We LOVED our two meals at the Parkside Restaurant. This is different from its snack bar at the other end of the same building. We didn't eat there, but we had a large lunch and then breakfast at Parkside, and everything was quite delicious. Highly recommend. Experienced blatant racism. After purchasing and eating $100+ food, my Black son was not allowed into the restaurant to use the restroom. He was instructed to use the port-a-potty in the park across the street. This after I, his white mother, walked right in and used it without incident, and later we witnessed other white people freely walking in and out without being stopped. Oh yeah, the food; way over priced, not good and meager. 2 fish tacos had 1/4 oz of fish if that. BLT was bland, chewy, and a lot of bread. Service was unfriendly all around. Very bad experience.
