Amazing atmosphere. This restaurant bar is so cool. Good variety of drinks and beers. I am giving parkside three stars only because the food was not all that great. We had the pretzel and beer cheese and the cheese was kinda bland. We also had the steak street tacos as well as the shrimp street tacos and both of these were also not all that great. Really nice building, very nicely built bar that is unique to Chico.... I just wish their food was as good as the rest of it. I would like to say the food was decent but I have to go with poor. I have tried various things on the menu and everything seems to be average. The prices are also very high for what you get. The burger is probably the best deal. I would honestly eat somewhere else and then come back for beers. The bar scene/atmosphere is fantastic. read more

This is a cute place. But the service was the worst we've ever had. We ordered simple food and it took more than an hour to get it. Our waitperson had to be called over repeatedly for status, and stopped her to order another beer. We asked for the manager and she was somewhat apologetic but made excuses. I use to love this place for its relaxed adult outdoor ambiance and ADULT playground; equipped with corn hole and Jenga and with dogs allowed to rest at the feet of their owners. The menu is great, with a variety for everyone's palate. The service and quality of food is inconsistent. Although, still worth the ambiance for a bar atmosphere. Unfortunately, its turned into a playground for bratty kids with their inconsiderate parents without a babysitter. These parents are allowing their out of control, disrespectful and careless kids to run amuck, while they're buzzing with deaf ears and eyes. THIS IS NOT A MCDONALDS PLAYGROUND PARENTS!!!! These parents are not paying attention or don't care, that their kids are climbing on benches, barstools, running and jumping off the corn hole boards or throwing corn bags at each other or hitting other patrons with their foul throws. They're allowing their bratty kids to sit anywhere on the ground, under foot for a non-suspecting adults to step on them, while walking in normal pathways. The kids are taking Jenga pieces and playing hide and seek; while the parents are buzzing without a care in the world and turning a blind eye to their brats. The patron dogs are better behaved!!! I'm not sure what management can do to remedy this issue; but, until then - it will certainly cost them valuable, non-returning business. Perhaps signage indicating FOR ADULT USE ONLY, might be a start? You have a great concept, location and business like no other. Please do something Parkside. read more

I never actually looked up Parkside on Yelp and have been going there for 2 years! Please DO NOT look into the negative reviews. If it takes a while for a drink, its because there's 15 other people trying to get a drink and of the multiple bartenders that have made me a drink they don't half ass them, which takes TIME.... I've had cold plates and hot ones and across the board they were delicious each time. I think they gave me normal fries on accident once, but I politely and quickly asked if I could get sweet potato fries and they apologized, quickly got me them and didn't charge me. If you go in unbiased, you're going to have a great memorable experience. Whether its a quick game of cornhole while you wait for your food, or one of the many booths to catch a game on TV, I look forward every time to the chance I get to go. They also always bring you a dog bowl if you bring a furry friend! read more

Last weekend I had some friends, and future residents, in from out of town and I decided to take them downtown to show them a bit of Chico's nightlife. We started off at a different establishment for dinner and a drink then decided to head over to Parkside Tap House for a few more drinks. As I was pulling out my ID to show the doorman, the doorman in a friendly/joking manner asked us how our night was. I told him that it was a good night so far and we were out for a few drinks. Still, in his joking/friendly manner, he asked me how much we had been drinking that night. Since he seemed to be in a joking mood I responded in kind saying as sarcastically as you can imagine, "oh, we've had a ton tonight". It was a joke since we only had one drink each so far that night, but his tone changed and said he wasn't going to let us in. I then tried to explain that I thought he was just joking around and we've only had one drink each. He then decided to say that one of use had swerved as we walked up to the door, which I highly doubt since it's about 10 steps from coming around the corner to the front door, no one was even slightly tipsy, and he refused to say who of us it was. I have lived in Chico 10 years and have never had any trouble with any form of law enforcement, the bars, restaurants, stores, anything. What my friends and I experienced last weekend at Parkside was embarrassing, felt like a betrayal of trust, and left a stain on our night and on the perception we had of Parkside. We ended up taking our business elsewhere and happily gave other establishments our business and had zero, none, no problem with any of the other bouncers or bartenders that night. I would like to shoutout the other establishments we visited downtown for having a genuinely friendly and welcoming atmosphere, not some deceitful facade of a friendly atmosphere. With so many other options in downtown, I don't see myself returning anytime soon. read more

I came here with my major to celebrate our graduation from Chico and had a terrible experience. I bought one beer at the bar, which was a ridiculous $8 after a long wait. I had a temporary debit card at the time, and meant to close it but come to find out when I looked at my bank history I was being charged $140. I called and spoke to the manager, Brennan, who claimed he would call me back once he figured out who was serving me. I had to call a week later as I never got a call back. Another manager spoke to me and claimed a complete stranger was charging on my card. These managers were very rude, throwing jabs and using manipulative tactics to blame this on me. They said I should've closed my tab. Once they knew I wasn't going to let this go they claimed I must've not remembered buying any of those drinks, after telling me someone else bought them with my card. Funny thing is that was the only beer I had. I wouldn't trust this bar with your money, you're better off going to one of the many other bars in Chico.. read more

We went there this afternoon and it was hardly busy. The hostess was nice but we waited for 15 minutes and still hadn't been helped. I knew it was that long because I could time it via the game that was playing on the television. During this time, I did see a group of workers clustered together, talking, and checking out each others' cell phone for at least 5 minutes. We walked out without being served. Wish they would take reservations, got there and it was packed. Hard to get a table with 11 of us and told us it would probably be an hour and a half wait, so we went to get drinks somewhere else and they called within 20min. Small but good menu, little high price point but quality food. I don't know if they're just understaffed but service took a little while even just for drinks. I come here pretty regularly and have rented out their side room several times for Chico State Organizational events. They have corn hole in back which is chill, the food is pretty good but overpriced for what you get in my opinion. The bar service has always been hit or miss, but a few weeks ago on a non busy night, the apparent bar manager in back named Bill blatantly wouldn't serve me. We were not drunk or rowdy, just patiently sitting waiting with my girlfriend waiting to be served. He purposely made a point on the third go around of skipping to point at the people on my left and right and skip over me for a third time. When we got up and left, he looked at us smiled and starting laughing. The only thing that set me apart was I was the only non-white person at the bar, and I'm a Veteran. No one working wanted to listen to my complaints so good luck on missing out on thousands per semester from us booking your private room. We will take our patronage elsewhere. read more

Don't even look at this place during Thursday Night Market....literally! I made an impromptu stop at the Thursday Night Market for a quick ice cream. I had not been downtown in a LONG time. As I was strolling the streets I came across this place and took a few moments to stop and look at it. I didn't know this place existed and was just taking it in and trying to remember what business was there before it. Just as I was thinking, "that might be a nice place to check out sometime" the bouncer came over to me in the street and told me that I either needed to pay the $3 cover or move it along. Really? I was not trying to enjoy as free concert. I was at Thursday Night Market. I did not even like the music, I was just looking at the fact that there was a new business that had gone in. I didn't realize that you could not stand in the streets of Downtown Chico during Thursday Night market. There were other people in the street and sidewalk too that did not get a "talking to", but I guess it is because they were looking away from the building? Needless to say, it left a bad taste in my mouth and I will not be checking this place out as I was planning in my head while enjoying my ice cream. I went to my car, finished my ice cream, and was reminded why I don't go downtown much anymore. People are way too uptight! read more

Basically the things of undercooking their burgers. Must be frozen pattys and a chef who doesn't know how to cook them. 4 separate trips and 4 cold in the middle burgers. With all the fresh meat they can source in this town it's surprising that they will consistently produce a sub par product. And then have the nerve to put 18% gratuity was a joke, i understand how hard being a waitress is but I see my waitress 3 times every time I go there- must be a system they have in place. Drinks food and once after food comes out. Then u gotta flag em down for the bill. Which when I go out is about 100 bucks so it's not like Id be considered a non important table 4 separate times. Needless to say just go to The Pour House- food is way better drinks are stronger and the waiters and waitresses are so nice and the managers will literally sit at your table if there's an issue and fix it (which only happened once in 3 years- they forgot to put the Marg mix in my Marg lol). read more
