The restaurant staff made two greeting cards to congratulate him, that were better than anything I could have written. So heartwarming! Our service was a Master Class. Our server seemed like the chef herself, so knowledgeable, so helpful. Perfection. Chef's kiss! The wine list is as good or better than a Napa/Sonoma Winery, and we chose French for this evening. A beautiful Bordeaux. I had Gazpacho that was one of the best I've ever experienced. We had some confusion from previous pictures of reviewers, think that we had to order any side dish to go with the meat of sea food. Well, the main dishes come with a perfectly proportioned side, so we ordered enough food for six or seven people, instead of four. Recommend asking the wait staff about accompaniments on the plate. The embellishments for the steaks; We got one with blue cheese, one with truffle butter One with asparagus, lobster and Béarnaise. I imagined that the Béarnaise would be created with bits of asparagus and lobster, but instead it came like a surf and turf! It was way more food than I could eat. The restaurant provided a delicious chocolate celebratory cake with sparkler, wow! And one guest had the creme brulee, which is layered between crisps instead of in a little bowl. This is definitely a special occasion restaurant. The interior decor combines both the old and new. There are historical elements in the ceiling and the wood finishes lend it a modern, polished look. The side dishes were truly delicious. The broccolini looks simple, but is roasted to perfection. The lobster risotto is very rich in flavors, with lobster pieces sprinkled throughout. Finally, the scalloped potatoes here are a must have. It is a bit of a cross between scalloped potatoes and potatoes au gratin. The bread basket and the black bean soup were okay, but neither of them adds much taste value to the meal. The Ragù alla Bolognese smelled great, but it was a bit disappointing. The entire dish felt very heavy and monotonous, and it turned out quite dull in the end. The dessert was decent and the raspberry purée, but I might choose something else next time. Has always been one of my go to restaurants for special occasions as they never disappointed with either the cuisine, service, or ambience. However the last 2 times the experience was not so great. The 1st bad experience wasn't their fault (rude guest) But the 2nd was. Inexcusable wait times service & food. 2 hours( with reservations). Posted my experience & management got hold of me to inquire what happened. They apologized, promised to rectify & sent me gift certificate to make amends. In These days of impersonal big corporations it really means something when management takes the time to reach out & admit mistakes & offer apologies. Parkway Grill is a class act! If you live in the Pasadena area, you know this place as well as I do. It is amazing. Upscale, classy, delicious. Everything is wonderful, from the Valet, to the Service, to the food. I could rave about the poorly named tiger shrimp corndogs, because they're not corndogs, they're amazing tiger shrimp on a stick. But I'm not judging on the name. They were damn good. Truly, it is all about the whole ginger fried catfish. Period. Come here just for that. I think everybody does. If you do not like it, you are a Klingon, a Romulan, or a communist. Or all three. If you do not love this dish, you need to spend some time on a deserted island, thinking about where you currently are in life, what is wrong with you and your value system?!?? It is unbelievable. So, I treated myself to the Parkway Grill on Wednesday, February 8th. Went with a friend; we had been wanting to check it out for a while. The ambiance was very nice and the service was excellent. I ordered crab cakes, the beet salad, scalloped potatoes, and the shrimp scampi pizza with a cranberry pineapple Juice drink. My friend ordered the black bean soup and the broccolini (cheapest things on the menu, lol). The best thing I ordered was the shrimp scampi pizza... it was absolutely divine, the crust was perfect and the shrimp were plump and juicy and flavourful. Everything else was just so-so. The portion sizes were great, however. My friend's bean soup was just "meh" nothing special . The broccolini was very, very tender, but she didn't care for the citrus flavor. My scalloped potatoes were nothing to write home about.. they could have done with some seasoning pizzazz. The beets in the salad were plentiful, and the Romanian lettuce was crisp and fresh. The crab cakes were very disappointing, and I had really been looking forward to them as I am the crab cake queen! They were just so so ...I could not really taste the crab meat, and they were on the small side. I brought home a lot of leftovers that have lasted me for 3 days. Did not get dessert this time. You do have to pay for bread and it is a nice assortment but it was not warm and the butter was cold. One final thing: the bathrooms are very clean with nice paper towels that really dry your hands well! I will definitely be back for the pizza and the molten lava cake. read more

Came in to grab a drink while we waited for a planned dinner at Arroyo Chop house for a friend's birthday. Our server Mark greeted us with kindness and swiftly offered us a seat. He suggested the Aged Bourbon old fashioned . I was hesitant because I'm not usually a huge fan. This was perfectly balanced. What was even more impressive is that Mark is actually the one who mixes the bourbon!! Pandemic review - Easter brunch Parkway grill has adapted quickly to the outdoor seating arrangement fit for current pandemic climate. They win in terms of the most comfortable outdoor experience. They have a gorgeous heavy duty tent setup, artificial grassy flooring, and wind breakers. Paired with the pleasant weather on Easter, our brunch couldn't have been more perfect. I had the French toast, ribeye $56 and scampi pizza, Shrimp Linguine $29 and broccolini. The French toast was fantastic. Crunchy and paired with in season strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries with a side of vanilla cream and syrup. Everyone wanted a bite. Ribeye comes a la carte and was perfectly tender and juicy. It went well with our grilled broccolini. Shrimp linguine was to die for. The capers and lemon really made the dish POP. The texture of the chew pasta in the creamy buttery sauce was an absolute 10/10. Scampi pizza was equally as satisfying. Perfect texture and creamy Alfredo sauce with spinach and shrimp. Can't go wrong ordering this for the table. It was my first time dining at Parkway grill and it has left a great impression enough for a return visit . I have to report absolutely terrible service. We were a party of six at the restaurant for a birthday dinner. When our entrees were served, they did not include my mother's entree. The waiter apologized and said there was a mistake. 20-30 minutes later, they got around to serving her entree. This is an expensive restaurant. I arranged a birthday dinner there to have a great meal and good customer service. Instead, they let us down and ruined our festive meal. When you keep one person from getting their meal in a timely fashion, you ruin the meals for everyone. Either you wait for other person to get served and are left with cold food, or you eat your dinner and feel guilty about the other person having no food to eat. read more

They put the grassy area in the parking lot and covered it with a tent with some heaters and lights with tables not too crunched up close to one another. Their drinks were yummy, we had a few appetizers and an entree each. small bread basket is more than enough for two. The wedge salad was good. A literal wedge, but who doesn't love that crunch? The grilled spring lamb lollipops were our first choice, we liked this a lot, along with a very interesting pomegranate mint syrup to dip which was such a unique combination taste! Tiger shrimp corndogs were quite good, basically some shrimp on a stick and you can't go wrong with Thai sauce. For entrees we went with the whole ginger fried catfish. Huge, obviously.. and a bit too oily for my liking. I didn't feel any seasoned presence so it was needed that squeeze of lemon most certainly.. id rate this a 3/10. 40 day aged prime New York. Meh, we've had better. If you're a fan of aged steak you may enjoy this although I felt it wasn't prepared too well. If you don't enjoy aged steak, do not event think about trying this one.. Went out for the first time yesterday for dinner since February for an anniversary and decided to check out parkway grill. Even though I have lived in pasadena for four years, I just noticed the nice setup they have on the outside while driving by one night. I would highly recommend! The service was absolutely amazing (shout out to our server,Jose!) and the food was delicious. As you can see from the lack of pictures, hunger took over once the food arrived and I have no regrets! The Yukon potato purée with lobster was absolutely delicious, and I would recommend ordering it as a side. My partner said that his steak was one of the best he has had and would definitely return. Which is rare for him to return to a restaurant. He likes to try new ones. Overall, a great first night out in a while and they even supplied us with a congrats card and tres leches cupcake! Which was the topping on the cake! Such a nice gesture. Thank you Parkway Grill staff!!! COVID precaution is being taken. Valet is $5 and you can park on either side (chop house parking lot or parkway grill lot). You check in at the front door of the resturante where there is hand sanitizer available, and then get walked over to your table where they are spaced apart. The atmosphere is very "upscale", but without being "stuffy". That set up a very pleasant evening with excellent food. The entree that we split was the Double Cut Lamb Chops. The lamb was perfectly cooked and the spices that were used paired well with the flavor of the lamb. Service was attentive, but not intrusive. The only on-site parking is valet ($8). It wasn't bad, it just wasn't "special". Iceberg Wedge - roasted vine tomatoes, caramelized bacon, red onion, point reyes blue cheese dressing - REALLY GOOD blue cheese dressing! Roasted Heirloom Beet Salad - little gem lettuce, gorgonzola, apples, walnuts, lemon zest buttermilk vinaigrette - great salad with lots of distinct flavors having a party in my mouth. Let the festivities begin! Lavishly decked in beautiful holiday decor from floor to vaulted ceiling, this is the perfect place for a very nice holiday meal. A large Christmas tree was the focal point of the waiting area. The ambiance was relaxed and social. Myself and two others were fortunate to have been invited here by our supervisor for a holiday lunch. The four of us arrived separately at around 12:30 pm and each easily found parking (free valet lot and street parking). The restaurant was busy when we arrived but we had reservations and were immediately seated in the main dining room. An artistically assembled complimentary bread basket was waiting for us in the center of our white clothed table. Our server, Shane, promptly greeted us and handed us our hardcover menus and briefed us on the specials. The menu had a good selection of something for everyone (starters, salads, pastas, steaks, signature dishes,sandwiches, and sides). Being a vegetarian, I selected the black bean soup and beet salad. The others ordered the salmon, petit filet mignon, broccolini and scalloped potatoes. After a short wait, the appetizers were brought out and the main courses followed. Everything was simply but nicely plated. The food was fresh, flavorful and of good quality. The steak was described simply as "DELICIOUS!" The dairy-based dessert menu was presented after our table was cleared and the Creme Brûlée Napoleon was selected. Due to the dairy, I did not partake but I heard it was wonderful. It's presentation was so vibrant in color and aesthetically pleasing that I enjoyed just looking at it. Service was outstanding! Shane was attentive, personable, helpful, and patient. I've had some really wonderful meals here in the past, but the quality control has really suffered with the pandemic. Just look at the picture. $63 + tax + tip for this USDA Prime 40-day NY Strip. I planned to order rare. The waitress convinced me to order medium rare instead. It arrived almost well done. This is from the center of the steak. I was with a large group, so I didn't send it back. we go to parkway grill a couple of times a year for special occasions. we went 10/28 at 530pm for my wife's birthday and did not have a good time. first the temperature in the restaurant was warm, probably 75^, not really uncomfortable, but with poor airflow. when we walked in the restaurant was virtually empty which , to us, was unusual. the hostess had her back to us, talking on the phone. we waited for several minutes, but she turned around before i tapped her on the shoulder. we then waited at least 15 to 20 minutes to have a server take our drink orders. again in a virtually empty restaurant. the food was ok, but nothing special. but when we finished, no one came to clear the table. this time, after 20 minutes, i could not locate the waiter. i went to the hostess, on the phone again, and asked her to send our waiter to our table. he finally showed up and we were finally able to complete our meal. it wasn't till we got home that we realized no one brought a cupcake with a candle on it for our birthday occasion which we specified on our reservation. very disappointing and very different from our decades long experience with this restaurant. will we go back? probably not. it looks like another Pasadena institution has bit the dust. -- read more

First, don't charge me for bread. Makes me think you are cheap. Second, the food is great. All of it. Their crab cakes are not as good as Water Grill, but they are super. Their New York steak is perfect and cooked the way you want it. Every salad is very good. You can dine inside or out. I prefer inside. The place is very pretty. Make a reservation, it gets very crowded. Third, their deserts are so good. Anything with chocolate you will love. They also have a great wine list. It is expensive but not outrageous. Appetizers: prosciutto special with garlic bread and burrata (5/5): this is one of the highlights of the night.. so delicious. crab cakes (4/5): really, it was hard to come after the prosciutto, but this was still very good! Entrees: whole ginger deep fried catfish (5/5): this replicates the Vietnamese deep fried catch fish with their own twist. Delicious!! Huge portion. I grew up in pasadena. I've been there a few times. I know that local elite like to say they go there to hang out. Food was a 6... with prices that high for the food its under a 5 (scale 1-10). The pasta was soggy, the scallop potatoes way too greasy. Salad was fine... soup good. Who can't do soup and salad. They still have Covid era dining taking up the parking lot. Parking is a mess. I should just paid the "man" and got the steak. I'm sure they do that well. With so many great places to eat, why the Parkway Grill. read more
