When you walk in, you can't help but notice how adorable this place is. The girl working behind the counter could not have been any more friendly and helpful. The most difficult part about my visit was deciding which donut to have. I opted to pick up the chocolate chocolate to eat while I was there and take two back to the hotel. The donuts are very similar to Kronuts, where there are multiple layers of dough. I brought my husband has the raspberry filled and he thought it was. Sadly, I did not get to eat the campfire one. This place suffers from a lack of management. More times than I can count I've shown up only to find they were either closed during business hours, or their kitchen is closed, or they have someone behind the counter with a horrible attitude. And it's always blamed on "short staffed ." It's easy to blame the employees, but this actually speaks to an issue of management. Today was no exception, after driving 20 minutes, the "I couldn't be more bored" counter person tells us, after waiting in a line that should've cleared in five minutes, but we waited 20 despite the fact there were only four people in line, "sorry, we just closed the kitchen." What? That's why we came! Sadly, the donuts themselves have also become hit or miss, whereas they used to be delicious, the best we have ever had, to tasting like they were made a long time ago, and they've become massive sugar bombs. Delicious and fluffy donuts! They are huge too! I really like all of the fun toppings that come on the donuts (maple & bacon, Oreo, chocolate chip, s'mores, Reese's, etc.). My husband and I went for the gluten free donuts but of course I had to try the original ones too. The gluten free donuts are more of a cake consistency, but you can get almost all of the toppings put on them. Keto options are available too. American finest donut : ). Sugar free (I mean sugar up). It taste so good and so big that I can only take one. The funny thing that you can't finish a donut in a bite here. There are so many options, and I recommend French Toast, Peanut Butter Cup and Churro. The staff was friendly and they know that you will need to take some time to digest the beauty of the donut. Customer service sucks. They weren't very busy when we went either. The gal who got our donuts was not friendly. We were so excited about the variety of donuts that we were indecisive in picking our last flavor. Maybe that triggered her unfriendliness. Other than the customer service the donuts are phenomenal. They layered donuts are very reminiscent of a croissant. The flavors are unique and tasty. I loved the strawberry shortcake, that was my all time fave out of our variety pack. French toast is their most popular, but I thought it was alright. I feel like it needed more cinnamon. Coconut cream and blueberry hill were delicious as well. The interior of this restaurant is gorgeous Having never been here, I got 6 various donuts and two chocolate milks for $30. One donut is enough to fill you up, I learned in retrospect. When I saw a new doughnut place opened down the street from me I had to try it out as I'm a doughnut fiend. This style of doughnut is lighter & airier than croissant doughnuts, but fried similarly so that it's a little crispy on the outside & soft on the inside. We couldn't believe how many flavors there were. I got the pecan churro & my boyfriend got the cookies & cream. We loved both as well as the coffee. Going to need to come back & try more! The Parlor's star "donuts" are primarily a hole-less version of cronuts, those intended to be (but seldom are) flakey and buttery as croissant dough wads slathered with icing. The flavors are nice. Texture, however, is heavy as a wet dishcloth and chewy as fresh gluten. Vegan and keto versions of what look like cake donuts are offered, though appear more limited. Service on my visit was friendly, pleasant, and unfortunately lethargic. Slowness appeared to be a mix of inexperience across-the-board as if employees are on their first-ever jobs. Your mileage may vary greatly depending upon day and time. Coffee orders are a bit confusing with menu items mixed across 12 oz., 16 oz. and "Oh, 12 oz. size fits all for a latte." Nope, it's not a Fourbucks grande (but even that product's game is slipping to the low bar of "new" normal.) No longer curious, but if friends insisted, I'd probably stop in again. Not otherwise. If you're driving here for a first visit, expect to circle the block more than once trying to find parking. Closest, though VERY limited, free parking exists in the mid-block alleyway off West End Ave. Signage isn't helpful, yet the lot marked "1720 Building Visitor Parking" may be open to patrons. Y'ALL THIS PLACE IS 'SLAP YA MAMA' GOOD! Our captain brought us a whole box of the French Toast doughnuts to enjoy and HOLY CRAP were they good!!!! I've truly never had a better doughnut in my life.
