Both Genova Delis in Walnut Creek closed so the number of good Delis is shrinking. It had been a while since I went to Parma Deli and had one of their sandwiches. Parma is on the edge of Concord almost in Clayton but worth the drive. I ordered a Poorboy sandwich on a sweet roll. After Maggoria closed down it has been hard to get a good sandwich roll. The rolls at Parma are excellent, soft, fresh, not filling, sandwich had fresh produce and lots of meat cuts blending into a great Poorboy sandwich. If you were a Genova fan, you will love the sandwiches at Parma. Drive a little further and treat your self to a generous sized tasty sandwich or pasta.

Parma Deli is absolutely one of the best deli spots around. Everything is fresh made, from the food to the salads, and the quality really stands out. Their hot Reuben sandwich is hands down the best I've ever had. If you're traveling through Concord, you have to stop by and try the Reuben -- it's worth the trip.

We were in the area and had read about this being a great deli. Tried to call in our order but they were backed up over an hour on phone orders. We walked in and received a friendly greeting. The shop is small but has sandwiches, a steam table of prepared food, and Italian market staples. We ordered our Italian mix and a BLT. Short time later, a gent brought our food to our table. The Italian mix was packed with meat and fresh veggies. Wife liked that the bread was chewy vs hard. My BLT was full of crispy and chewy bacon. Both sandwiches were really good. Service was friendly- can't ask for much more!

I've been wanting to try that this deli for quite a while, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. This is the kind of spot that feels like it's been doing things right for decades -- handwritten menus, shelves of Italian pantry staples, and the smell of great food the moment you walk in (I swear I could smell the tri tip even after I left!) The sandwiches are huge and stacked generously. I went with the peppered turkey on a soft roll, loaded with garlic mayo, (I requested as much pesto as legally possible), avocado and all the veg. One sandwich could easily be two meals. They've got a solid lineup of hot items, cold salads, and sides, chips and a plethora of cold sodas to choose from. I also love that they rotate specials like mushroom chicken and ribs every other Friday, and the tri-tip sandwiches are definitely on my list for next time. On top of that, they carry Italian goods like cookies, pasta, sauces, and olive oils, which just adds to the charm! If you're looking for an authentic, Italian deli with massive sandwiches and serious flavor, this place is THE SPOT! I'll definitely be back -- probably sooner than I should.

In my search for the holy grail of sandos, I found this little jewel tucked in a small strip mall. Must driven by 1/2 dozen times. So I ordered a classic: pastrami on sourdough. So much meat! I could only eat half. So I got 2 meals for $14. Service was great- constant foot traffic. Will return

It's an odd thing when the service makes a place frustrating. I came in with my family to order a few subs, my wife is feeling the need to satisfy a craving so we decided to hop on into Parma delicatessen. I knew immediately I wanted the meatball sub. This is an item that I traditionally ordered it a lot of different places. This is where it got a bit weird. I wanted to order it with spicy mayo, pickles, and hot peppers. I went up to the counter, placed my order with the guy before asking for the additional items on top of the sandwich, I clarified to make sure it was possible to order them, which he confirmed. He repeated it back to me two times asking me if I was sure which again I confirmed with him on what I wanted. Well that alone was annoying. I wasn't too bothered by the inconvenience. Perhaps he was just being extra cautious. As the rest of the family ordered, and I stood around and waited, I can hear him consistently making chatter about it as if it was a big deal. I don't get it. It's my preference for a sandwich. It's the way I want it. Why does it have to continually be a weird topic of conversation among all the employees? Here's where it becomes tricky because the sandwich was incredible! I would easily order it again. It's just annoying that that gets critiqued, but my preferences are my preferences and I like them. The meatball and sauce were absolutely cooked to perfection. Loved every part of it! The sauce was excellent pickles and peppers were delightful as always. Sandwich 8.5/10

Found my go to deli near home! Small mom and pop shop with an extensive menu and many bread and side options to cater to your cravings. It was my first time coming in and the worker who helped me was nothing but patient and kind. A perfect stop for a picnic since there are many parks nearby! Seating is limited so I would suggest taking your sub to go Forgot to mention: portion sizes are HUGE

I have been here several times and each time, the sandwhich is just as good as the previous. There is seating but it is not much. Best is to take it home to eat! The food here is not only just HUGE but also very delicious. If you are nitpicky with workers using gloves then this ain't the place for you. They do wash their hands after each transaction and etc. Unfortunately my sibling saw one instance while waiting to pay that a worker touched/scratched the inside of his ear before touching a sandwhich he was making. It wasn't ours but it was something they told me afterwards.... Anyways, service is quick and easy. Most of my visits were very chill and laid back. Workers are cool and always nice to me. Probably cause I'm round, short and can barely see over the counter lol. This place can get hectic and really busy at peak times. The wait for the sandwhich isn't long though. You go in, wait for your turn, place your order, wait a bit, pay and off you go to enjoy the monster sandwhich. The sandwhich can be shared or eaten as a whole in 1 meal or split into 2. It just depends how hungry you are or looking for a post-workout meal. The first time I came here, I got the Garlic Herb Turkey (GHT) with Swiss on Sourdough Roll with all the works ($15). I also got the Italian Mix on Dutch Crunch with all the works ($17) for my brother. The GHT +Swiss on Sourdough Roll is a 10/10. The first time I saw this thing I was like "oh sh**! That's a big *** sandwhich!" There was literally a mountain pile of GHT!! It was cool to see that they are not shy in giving a lot for the customers and I really appreciate that! It wasn't dry at all too like other sandwhich places and had the right amount of fixings in each bite. The Italian Mix (consists of Salami, Mortadella, Prosciutto with provolone) is a 10/10 and it was so good that it KO'd my sibling out for the day! Normally he doesn't like sandwhiches but this one was 100% approved. I also have tried other combinations with Garlic Herb Turkey (GHT) and another meat as a combo or just GHT with different type of cheese, Pesto and all the works. They don't skimp on the veggies either. GHT + Provalone on Sourdough ($15) is 9.5/10 GHT + Mortadella + Swiss on Sourdough ($15.50) is a 9.5/10. GHT + Garlic Cheddar + Pesto on Sourdough ($16) is a 10/10. Pepper Turkey + Garlic Cheddar (they put regular Cheddar instead) + Pesto. ($16) is a 7/10. GHT + Pastrami + Swiss on Dutch Crunch ($14) is a 9/10 - Also another banger that KO'd someone for the day lol. I have not yet tried their Smoked Meat and Cheese selection or other possible combinations they have up on the board so we shall see.

Parma is the real deal Got the roast beef with all the fixins & some extra sauce I knew it was going to be great when it came with a stack of 50 napkins on the side

Another great lunch at Parma Deli today. I had the crab salad on soft sweet roll. Son had a liverwurst sandwich and we purchased another box of Italian butter cookies for later. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful as always.

Wow is all I can say. Really good deli in a hidden corner of a strip mall. I ordered a pastrami sandwich with Swiss and all the fixings. Since it came with Cole slaw I probably should have skipped the lettuce. Sandwiches are very large much bigger than domenico's or morucci's. Quality of the meats are amazing. If you are really hungry you cannot go wrong here. I will still go to morucci's for the 9 3/4's and domenico's for a well composed special of the day with a unique mayo that will make you drool, but you cannot go wrong with an amazing sandwich from this outstanding deli if you are in the neighborhood. The carrot cake looked amazing, but I did not have any room left in my stomach. read more

I truly enjoyed my sandwich yesterday! I got the combo - honey ham and peppered turkey on a wheat roll. It was delicious! I also picked up sandwiches for a couple of co-workers. I couldn't resist the Italian chicken, which was made with beer and soy sauce. We were so into the chicken that one of us left our wallet at the deli. Luckily we realized it, called, and a good Samaritan turned it in with nothing missing. There are good people in this world and good people and Parma has both! Great service! We'll be back for sure! read more

This place is a hidden treasure that my girl and I just discovered hidden away in the back corner of an unassuming Concord strip-mall today, had to give them a well deserved review. It is an old school authentic Italian deli like what I was familiar with growing up in Philly. The people who work at Parma today were polite, kind, and helpful and made me feel welcome. We both felt the food was excellent, everything was super fresh and tasty, the breads, the sandwich fillings, and the salad we ordered. I had the Hot Crab Sandwich on sourdough, melted cheese all over the top, REAL crab (Wow!), served open face, and big enough that it made two meals,...all for ten bucks, an incredible value in this day and age! We will be back soon! read more

I actually came on to yelp to find a good sandwich to eat and this place was the second place on the list. It was really close so I had to check it out, since it seemed like virtually no bad reviews. The service was OK, not great, but the sandwich was amazing. Pastrami on wheat with Swiss, tomato and onion, with Dijon mustard. The sandwich was big and so delicious. Will definitely be going back and bringing friends. read more

Have gone here foe years. One of my all time favorite spots in Concord. Mary and her son's especially Sam, are amazing people and make you feel like family. The food is astounding, the tri tip and meatloaf sandwiches are my favorite but I've never found anything to complain about here. Perfect any day or for catering. read more

I am a first timer here with this deli, I am still recovering from a couples days ago because of what this b****ch told me on the phone, I checked myself into the Kaiser ER room last night. Fortunately today is going much better. Well...first off, I knew I was safe when I walked into this wonderful spot..Concord's finest were there...PD. I thanked them for all the hard work that they do. Then the hardest decision of all was to figure out which sandwich to get. My oh my so many options. I also was not aware of what time they close. They close at 4pm during the week, so I arrived right in time. I had just come from the Metro PCS store cause I'm getting a new phone. In this same shopping center happens to be my cute, sweet, Asian hairstylists that does a great job and charges reasonable price. I was told by my new friend at the deli that cause this is my first time here that I should order a Turkey sandwich. Guess what I did, order a Turkey sandwich. My oh my, so, well, I also asked what a certain item was on the deli counter, it turns out that it is a nougat. My new friend gave me a vanilla nougat for free, they only costs $.81 cents. This is a family business, I really like to support the local businesses and when it is great food and customer service you can't go wrong. These sandwiches are super huge and super mongo, and yummy yums. Please remember that I am a big guy 6 foot 1 inches, and 224 pounds. I couldn't finish my sandwich so save the rest for later. I WILL BE BACK!!!!! read more

Excellent sandwiches and a true Italian deli. I've always ordered the prosciutto with mozzarella on crusty sourdough, but am curious to try the others. All the sides and salads look fresh and tasty too, though I haven't tried them yet. They also have a decent selection of Italian imported products. read more

This place awesome! The shop is cozy, full of goodies, and the staff is exceptionally friendly. I got the Italian mix sandwich on sourdough, my husband got a pepper turkey in wheat and my kid got a ham and cheese on wheat. The portion sizes are very large, and the sandwiches were delicious!! You want a sandwich with a lot of meat, then Parma is the place to go! Not interested in a sandwich, no problem, there is always a fine selection of hot meals. Love the chicken parmigiana, ravioli or just about any pasta dish. Don't forget to try the Mac n Cheese. Good selection, good value, great tasting food. I'll be back! read more

Came here during the last week of my pregnancy because I was craving a sandwich. Since I'm still fairly new to the Concord area I still highly rely on my fellow yelper's reviews to find what places are worthy of checking out. So I stumbled upon this establishment and quickly got my 4 year old dressed and in the car because i was STAR-VING. After paying what seemed like a lot of $ for 1 sandwich, a bag of chips, a drink, and one of the hot item specials (i think it was close to $20) we took our food home to eat. I honestly wasn't impressed with my mortadella & salami sandwich. Maybe I got the wrong sandwich or the wrong meat combo but I've had better. Even though this may not be one of my top 3 sandwich spots I'll definitely keep it in mind the next time I'm craving deli food. read more

I had a basic turkey sandwich with cheese which was very good. I went in around 1 pm so it was empty except for one person eating in one of their few tables. The place is clean. The produce tasted fresh and there was lots of meat but not too much like Luigi's. I would have gave 5 stars but the lady not making my sandwich kept yapping instead of helping me get a salad to take to my wife. She kept yapping even while the nice lady was ringing me up. I will be going back soon, I just hope they find something for that lady to do! Update: I went back and I had to give it 5 stars because the food and the yapping lady wasn't there again. read more

Great sandwiches! Fairly nice people. Slow service because they take their time making the sandwich and don't have the kind of assembly line that subway and the big sandwich places have. It's not a problem. Phone ahead. I do not like their hours. The majority of the time that I've wanted a sandwich from this place, I couldn't get it because they were closed. 4/5 times that I made it on time, I was there pretty close to closing time and felt bad about it. Is it a little cocky to close so early, especially on a Friday? Maybe. This man thinks so. But the place seems to be thriving, and the sandwiches are great. Phone ahead, take it home and enjoy because the place is kind of cramped for eating in. read more

Got the Garlic Herb Turkey sandwich and with the dijon mustard and smoke gouda. Also they have a fantastic spread selection which is just amazing compared to everywhere else. They also have a fantastic sweet and baked good selection. A Most delicious sandwich I've ever had. This Deli is tops. Make sure you look at both the main and specials menu. I will definitely be coming back, and telling friends. read more

I came in the other day and tried this delectable deli. I had the pastrami, my gf got ham. Sandwiches were huge, great family run place, good drink selection. Mustard could be a little more prominent (waaay more mayo than mustard), and the innards of my sandwich kept sliding around making it difficult to eat, but that's not necesarily a bad thing. One small complaint is that my gf only ate half her sandwich, and the box they gave us wasnt tall enough for the monstrous sandwich, it kept popping open in the car. The best sandwich I ever had is still at Morruci's in Walnut Creek, but this isn't a bad place read more

My husband and I love this place and are so happy that it's just a few minute walk from our home. I love that this is a small family operated place as well. We try to get here once a week, but it's difficult when we both work in the city and they are closed by the time we get home. Plus, they're closed on Sundays - sometimes when we need them most. haha. Anyway, we will continue to visit this spot time and time again. read more

My boyfriend is a regular here and a friend of the owners. He would ALWAYS talk about this place, when he would FaceTime me on his lunch break more times then not was he there. I met up with him there one day to eat and it was nothing short of amazing. I had an egg salad sandwich and a cup of clam chowder and it was to die for. Definitely a great spot! read more

OMG!! I have moved out of the area and came back for a visit. I have been CRAVING a Parma Deli sandwich. It was even better then I remembered! The rolls are fresh. The produce is fresh and the sandwich was delicious! Mary, Sam and Mark do a fantastic job and make you feel like a member of the family. They are the greatest people! There is a good variety of drinks and chips as well as different salads. Everything is great! I love this place and wish they had one in Southern California! read more

We have owned Parma Deli since 1988. We know most of our customers by first name. We come highly recommended by most of our clients who have been coming in for many years. We are also known for our pleasant customer service. Come by and check us out.

I specifically requested a bowl for dine in because I strongly dislike eating out of the compostable cardboard containers. They affect the taste and overall dining experience for me. When I asked for a bowl, I was told none were available. The problem was that I could clearly see bowls in the restaurant. I was told they were "dirty" and unavailable. I also observed bowls being used for wrap preparation. I pointed out that there were other bowls visible, including plastic and porcelain bowls, but Store Manager Julia repeatedly cited "store policy" and offered no solution whatsoever. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of effort to accommodate a loyal customer. No attempt to wash a bowl. No alternative suggestion. No effort to find a manager-level solution. Just a flat "no." As a result, my wife ate her salad, my daughter ate her wrap, and I sat there watching because I refused to eat from the cardboard container. I've happily supported Sweetgreen for over 15 years, but after today's experience, that relationship is over. Other fast-casual restaurants like MIXT and Tender Greens have no issue providing proper dine-in bowls and plates when customers request them. The issue wasn't the bowl. It was the attitude, the unwillingness to help, and a manager who seemed more interested in hiding behind policy than solving a customer problem. After 15 years as a customer, I expected better. UPDATE: Sweetgreen responded with a generic, copy-and-paste apology that did not address any of the questions raised in this review. Specifically: * Does Sweetgreen provide dine in bowls or not? * Why are dine in bowls prominently featured in Sweetgreen's advertising and app if customers cannot use them? * Why was no attempt made to wash a bowl or otherwise accommodate a dine in customer? * Was Store Manager Julia correctly applying Sweetgreen policy, or was this simply poor customer service? I am still waiting for an answer.

Their menu featured a wide array of appetizers, soups, bibimbaps, cold and hot noodles, meat dishes, etc. We opted against their signature kalbijjim and instead got three entrée combos (L.A. galbi, spicy pork, and bulgogi). Each entrée came with our choice of tofu soup. Half a dozen banchans were brought to us before the arrival of the entrées. The buchu (chives) and baechu (Napa cabbage) kimchi were excellent. Our food took about 15 minutes to arrive. Portion wise, the tofu soups were of decent size, but the meat entrées were kind of stingy (they were served in small round skillets). I had the seafood tofu soup and it was very good. It was loaded clams, shrimp, and squid. We shared the entrées, and they all tasted great. The only gripe I had was a couple pieces of the galbi had very little meat on them. Service we received was great. Our server was friendly, helpful, and efficient. The total was somewhere around $130 (with a bottle of soju, a tangerine slushy, and a soda). Overall, we all thought the food was good. Return trip very likely. 4 stars. Parma Delicatesen who knew this wonderful epic delicious delicatessen existed in a tiny little spot in Concord. I was looking for somewhere to cater my daughter's bridal shower in my backyard in my home in Concord so my son told me about Parma, he said they're really good. So I did and they delivered! My son loves to eat good food and somehow seems to find it in every city and every county! He is a regular at Parma they all know him on a first name basis and now they've gotten to know me The food every day is incredible, so tasty and always fresh! We eat at Parma all the time and love their food. Their food is homemade and their portions are oversized so you may want to order a half of sandwich, of half of their lunch specials for which they have many instead of a whole order. Their prices are also reasonable and they also do catering too. I like it there because I can mix and match any thing they have to make a custom mean. If you want a great sandwich you cant go wrong here. It is family owned and it shows. They care about the customer not like subwy or someplaces where you have a mionimum wage employee putting in thier time. It is deffinately worth the little bit extra that you have to pay. Why is it we have no problem tipping a waiter 10-20% yet have a hard time giving 10% back to God? I get these random thoughts all the time. read more

Sandwiches to die for, as well as delicious true Italian hot meals! Mary and Sam manage the place with passion and attention to detail, and they have excellent recommendations. Although lunchtime can be hectic, you can always phone ahead and place your order. I thought the prices were kind of steep...until I unwrapped what these guys call a sandwich...it was more like a sub...and I'm talking about the kind that people ride in. Tasty, fresh, and oh so satisfying. You might want to starve yourself for a couple of days before going though...you'll need the room. read more

Changed lunch plans and came here on the recommendation of a friend. Best decision! We had the Bleu Buffalo Panini and the Meatball Panini. Also tried the crab salad, it is so good. I see a crab salad sandwich in my future. You gotta come in and give this place a try, you won't be sorry. read more
