In our search for outdoor seating and yummy food, Parrando's is one of our favorite. My family is Covid cautious and as the rest of the world has moved on, putting it in the past, we still choose to use whatever means in our power to minimize exposure. With that being said, Parrando's fits the bill. They have two outdoor seating sections that will accommodate most outdoor dining needs. They have umbrellas to shade from the hot Sun and have speakers which play lively Spanish music. Not let's get to the nitty gritty; they give you complimentary tortilla chips and salsa when you arrive. The chips are served warm and salty, the actual chips are thin and fragile to help compliment the tomato based, brothy salsa. My wife always requests an additional salsa because it's really good, plus they started giving smaller ramekins so you'll likely ask for another one also. We really like to order the sample platter because it offers a great scope of tasty flavors. There's chicken quesadillas, steak nachos, wings and taquitos with braised meat (maybe beef or pork) and that's served with a small plate of guac, sour cream and jalapeño. We usually share an order of steak and chicken fajitas as well as Mexican steak tacos as our entree. The fajitas always come out on a scorching hot metal plate, sizzling with sautéed onion and bell peppers. Here's the kicker, on the same burning hot metal plate is a small ceramic plate with cold items like sour cream which you face at a choice of them heating up or burning your fingers racing to get them off. Do not, I repeat do not sleep on the Mexican steak tacos, they're soooooo goooood. Tender meat, wonderful onions and peppers and crumbly cheese, avocado and crema. We like them on flour tortillas because they're a better match for those ingredients. Skip dessert though, not their best foot forward. Oh, I forgot, do have the piña colada that's very good. The restaurant itself looks great on the inside! The entire serving staff was nice and courteous. Our food also came so quickly, but it was also a Wednesday at lunch time. The food itself has some room for improvement. The salsa in the complimentary chips and salsa tasted like diced tomatoes in some water. There wasn't too much flavor in that salsa, but the chips were fine. As for the vegetable burrito, it was kind of soggy. The beans and rice were tasty, but I don't know why or how the burrito came out so soggy. I would definitely come back to try other items! read more

I had never heard of Parrando's until Yelp friend, Eddie B., posted photos of his food there. That got me to look up Parrando's and what we saw on the menu plus the great Yelp reviews had us wanting to go there. Finally, this weekend there was no rain...so off we went. I must say it was easy to find when taking the Greenway. We were here around 5 p.m. on a Saturday. While they were doing a good amount of business, we were immediately seated. Once seated, we were served chips and salsa. However, it took some time for our server to get to us. Once she got to us and took our order, our food came out quickly and it was piping hot. I ordered "Chile Pasilla Relleno" which consists of: "Two freshly roasted pasilla peppers filled with your preference of meat, covered with Ranchera sauce and topped with melted cheese. Served with guacamole, sour cream, and Pico de Gallo on the side." You have a choice of meat or cheese. I chose cheese. I must note that I was really happy to see this item on their menu. Not many Mexican restaurants seem to have them on the menu as of late. My husband ordered "Beef Enchilada" which consists of 2 enchiladas with a choice of ground or shredded beef. His, entree, like mine also came with rice and refried beans. I really enjoyed my dinner. The chiles were generously stuffed with mild cheese and the ranchera sauce was mild and tasty and didn't drown out the rellenos. The rice was nicely prepared and I was surprised to find some capers in it. The guac and the pico de gallo on the side offered up some nice added flavoring. My husband really liked his enchiladas. We both noted that they were well stuffed and the plating was attractive. He said he wanted to lick his plate clean LOL! To drink, I had water while he had Dr. Pepper. The meal was very reasonably priced. In total, before the tip, it was $32 + change. The only thing we didn't really care for was the salsa as it was chunky but very watery. The chips, while served warm, were on the sweet side and weren't strong enough to hold the salsa. We both agree that we would gladly return the next time we want Mexican food! read more

Been here several times, and the food is definitely quality. The complimentary chips and salsa are always good, and are not too greasy, which I like. During my most recent visit, I had the grilled chicken burrito which was delicious. Juicy pieces of chicken, with plenty of beans and rice. The melted cheese on top of the burrito was yummy. Service was very good, as the waiter checked up on us and was friendly. Looks like they have plenty of outdoor space, so will have to eat outside next time. Also so some other tables with some nice looking margaritas, so may have to try a non-alcoholic one at some point. Everyone in my party seemed to be happy with their food. It's been a while since we've had Parrando's due to the pandemic and not wanting to sit inside a restaurant for longer than a few minutes. However, we ordered tonight via Uber Eats and I'm happy to see that the quality hasn't slipped at all over the years. Ordering, delivery, and the heat of the food was perfect. We had two burritos meals to go (one steak, one chicken) with rice, beans, guacamole, pico de gallo and a side of chips and salsa. The steak burrito is so flavorful and made me question why I haven't been ordering to-go more often! The shredded chicken burrito was tasty and not dry at all. The rice and beans brought me back in time and I savored every bite. Definitely will be back and glad Parrando's is still going strong during this pandemic! Keep up the great work guys. read more

Better quality Tex Mex food better than most in the Ashburn area but wait staff could use some retraining! I actually scheduled to meet hubby during his lunch time for Sushi at Passion Fin but we got there early at 11:30a and they open at 12p according to the sign at the door. This place was in the same location, already open for lunch so we came here instead. Waitress sat us by corner window which was nice and well social distanced so a good start I thought. She handed us the menu and in some hurried manner asked if we were ordering drinks-- we barely sat down and have not had a chance to look at the menu. It was our first time/return to this place since it was switched over from a previous Mexican restaurant which had been a few years ago... Place still looks big nice & clean but old world Mexican booths were gone and decorations now are different for sure. I told the waitress to bring us some water on ice first then we'll order when she returns. She seems hurried so upon her quick return we gave her our order: hubby a large glass of Pacifico and I opted for "just water"! I ordered the grilled chicken chimichanga and hubby chose grilled chicken burito! I like that they have "grilled" chicken or steak as options. Within just what seems not even a couple of minutes our food was brought to our table, also chips and salsa. Food came in so quickly as if the whole place process was in a rush. Service was adequate but not great. Spacing of food was not observed. In fact, it was thoughtless- lacking the nice experience this place was capable but it was hard to ignore the wait staff being so thoughtless. What a missed opportunity for creating a nice ambience & experience! Because the food was great hubby gave a 20% tip though I don't think our waitress deserved it. It's a shame! Food was very good but the service on the patio was horrible. We waited 10 minutes outside on a hot summer evening before i went inside to ask a waiter if he could bring us water. The initial food and drink order was prompt and then nothing from our waiter for about 25 minutes. a women cleared our plates but no follow up for drinks, water etc. what was really irritating is that another waiter was working the other patio tables giving good service but after several attempts to gain his attention, he still would not even look in our direction. we finally just asked for the check which ironically was very promptly delivered. read more

We decided to have brunch here on Sunday morning around 12:30 pm. It wasn't crazy busy. The staff did not give brunch menu, they're going to give you dinner menus. If you want brunch (which is more affordable and comes with a decent amount of food) you have to ask for it. The place looked good, but staff was dragging at keeping tables and ground clean. Our waiter seemed uninterested in being there. The water had some debris floating around. Food: All Brunch options comes with a side of refried beans, corn tamale (I don't think I got), homemade mashed potatoes, and fruit. We also got chips and salsa, there salsa is delicious!! The chips came out warm which I was happy about. Steak and eggs 4/10 The eggs were bland and the carne asada was too fatty and didn't taste of quality for my liking. Parrandos Rancheros 6/10 Apparently tasted like one mushy consistency because the tortilla had no crunch to it, but the flavor was good. We unexpectedly brought an entire baseball team and their family's on the 4th of July (35 quests) and they kindly set up an entire section for us to enjoy. Not only did they quickly seat us and take our orders they graciously served us plenty of appetizers on the house. Our food was delicious, our server was attentive and remembered our orders correctly. The female and male managers made several visits to check in and made us feel so welcomed to be there. Very busy Saturday night but seated right away! Clean facility, and quick table turnover so there are not dirty dishes sitting all over tables which is a small thing that I really appriciate! The tropical daqari was very tasty, but not strong, oh well! Also really liked the queso dip, husband wasn't a fan, but that's fine, more for me! Lol Half chips were great half were stale. I have been to over 100 T x-Mex restaurant all over the United States and Parrando's is the best. As we walked in the customer service was top notch. We were seated right away and with minutes our server gave us water and chips and salsa. He told our drink order right away. We started with the Chorizo and pineapple quesadilla and fresh tortillas. Then we had the sweet corn tamale, OMG this was amazing. We placed our orders and asked for guacamole. The guacamole come out within minutes, they were great with the chips and tortillas. The staff keep checking to ensure that we were good and then our food came out. All of our dishes were amazing. Even after eating all of this food, we ordered the Cheesecake chimichanga. Ate everything, even the stuff that most people would leave because it looks like decoration. HA! It was that good. Love coming here for Cinco De Mayo. It's always so lively! They had a DJ, photo booth, and fresh tortillas being made right when you walk in which was cool to see. We couldn't stay for too long since we had my friends baby with us but just wanted a quick drink before dinner. Ordered the spicy guac with their unlimited chips and salsa with a Sangrita Marg that tasted more like a black cherry marg but was still fabulous. I can't even describe how good the food was. We ordered a vegetable fajita and Tortilla Soup. My father had chicken tacos. My first reaction to the food was; !Our waiter was the absolute best and restored my faith in humanity! She took our orders and served us food so nicely. I wanted to order a Dr Pepper but my mom said no but she still brought a sample for my mom to taste so that she would let me. We order from Parrando's very frequently. We absolutely love the food and the staff / service. The restaurant is clean, the staff is attentive and very patient. We order take out when we can't make it in during the week when we have a school night. The manager Eric goes out of his way to make sure the service, the food and the experience goes above and beyond expectation. No wonder the staff is incredible, they are being led by a true leader. I used to love going to Parrando's. The steak fajitas are so juicy and tasty, margaritas are delicious, and the rest of the menu is solid. But I'd noticed a shift in staff/management lately, and it isn't for the better. No one ever smiles at the host stand, they literally act like we're bothering them by showing up. Wait staff similarly sullen and just seem overall unhappy and uninterested. I'm not expecting fireworks and falling over the customers, but stopping by to ask if we need anything at least once would be nice (2 most recent times our waiter disappeared and only came back to drop off the check, didn't even ask if we were done). Also feels extremely rushed: plates seem pre-prepared, coming out a few minutes after ordering and no allowances for simple requests like fajita veggies instead of beans/rice. Not sure what changed and I'd love to keep recommending parrandos to others, but I just can't reconcile this new parrandos with the place I used to love coming to for family dinners or date nights. Hope it changes again, for the better. In the meantime, I'll keep looking for an alternative to satisfy my fajita cravings. read more

They offered outdoor seating reservations which was nice and safe, but the downside is that they were a bit rude about hurrying us out, and I wasn't a fan of the service overall.
