My hair was stringy and dry and he convinced me to do more than a trim, and it looked so much better than before. I am new to the area and have been looking for a new hair salon. I came across Parto's salon and decided to schedule a haircut appointment. They were open on a Saturday so I didn't have to move my work schedule which was nice. The salon was big and clean and all the staff was very kind. I got a haircut from Parto and he was so nice and professional. I went from long hair to medium length and I enjoy the new hair. I also asked if I should color my hair because my balayage had outgrown a lot and he said there was no need. He was objective and didn't force any additional service/ product. The price is also reasonable ($90 I believe) for the area, his experience and how nice the salon is. I will certainly be recommending the salon to other people and will be going back. The first time I visited Parto's salon was about 20 years ago when he offered his services to the Miss America program (I was Miss IL. at the time). After that, I bounced around to different suburban hair dressers, but always felt like the hairstyles were not quite refined enough... too many choppy layers, too old fashioned - not chic. About 10 years ago, I decided to go back to Parto as a paying adult :D He. Is. Special. He was trained in Paris, and he absolutely gives a refined, chic cut. He is a pleasure to be with - generous with his time, with sharing the details of his interesting life, and he knows what to do with hair type and face shape! The man does the best dang bob ever. I haven't let anyone touch my head but Parto in years. And Olivia will NOT mess up a color. I'm grateful for her honesty, too. I haven't been able to make it downtown lately due to time constraints and a newish baby, so I just let my hair get grungy and cut the ends myself rather than let anyone else touch it. Parto is literally a Saint! I come here to get my hair cut about every 2-3 months and always leave happy. But this time was traveling and got my hair cut back in Moscow by my mom's hairdresser. He ended up completely vandalizing my hair, leaving my beautiful long hair looking like I got attacked by street cats. It took two years for me to get my hair that long and healthy. Parto did a miracle and got my hair to looking beautiful again. I left the other hairdresser in tears 3 days ago, left Parto's salon today with a huge smile and tears of happiness. Olga at this salon is very disappointing. After seeing an ad of her work on Instagram I decided to book an appointment to have my hair dyed. I booked an appointment online and explained my hair texture. Two days before my appointment she emailed me late in the night to reschedule it for the next morning! I had an open schedule and said sure. Once I got there Olga touched my hair lightly and told me she doesn't do textured hair and sent me on my way. I explained in my email before I got there that my hair is naturally curly, she told me that she thought I meant wavy. It is just so disappointing that in the year 2020 hairstylists can only do straight Anglo hair. The salon was full of stylists. Are you telling me no one in this salon can do textured hair? I think that speaks for itself. The receptionist however was very kind. It is hurtful for a salon to tell someone they don't do your kind of hair. What does that even mean? read more

I started going to Olivia Maucler about five months ago and I will go to her for as long as I live in Chicago! She has great taste in hairstyles and is really skilled. She gave me the best bangs that are so easy to style and that has always been a challenge for me! I moved to Chicago two years ago from LA, and bounced around to many different stylists, but my cuts always felt a little too, "on the nose", like I'd come out looking too "Vidal Sassoon" if you know what I mean. Which if you have a short cut can easily turn you into soccer mom or "can I speak to your manager" lady. Olivia puts a natural spin on color and cuts ( even stylistic/edgy ones) and she always makes me feel feminine and confident when I leave! Also she is super cool! read more

I went here on a Friday afternoon (4pm) for some highlights and Nicole did a great job. I'm not really a fancy salon person, and this is a fancy salon--that being said, I didn't feel uncomfortable here. However, it did seem like everyone there was anxious to leave and go out for the night, so the process was a little hurried. One important note: after a $100 color job, it costs extra for them to blow dry your hair. Given that it was February in Chicago, I felt like I needed to dry my (long, heavy) hair before leaving, and I was strongly encouraged to do so to see how the color turned out. They led me to an empty station and told me to go at it (more politely than that). I was surprised and acted that way. In turn, they were surprised that I didn't know to "schedule" a blow dry after my service. This turn of events was super-annoying, especially since I don't blow dry my hair at home (because it's so thick, it takes forever), so I don't have any efficient technique. To add to the discomfort, at least 3 chatting stylists were entertained by watching me awkwardly trying to reach the back of my head with my aching arms. Yup. This is where I get my haircut once a month...a place that has "Creation De Beaute" in the name. And you have to say it properly...it's "Cree-AH-SHONE Duh Boo-TAY" (snicker). I confess that I've followed my stylist, Alfredo Cornejo, from place to place since 1996. I'm picky about who cuts my hair, and I've actually only had 5 people cut my hair my entire life (seriously). Alfredo was in the west loop's defunct 2Salon for awhile, then the defunct Parlor (used to be next to Kinzie Chophouse), and now Parto, who doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Parto Naderi, the owner, is himself a really nice guy who always remembers you. The girls at the counter are great and accommodating both in person and on the phone. Josefina gives the best shampoo in Chicago, I'm convinced...and Alfredo knows how to cut a businessperson's hair so that they can tousle it up when they're going out at night. I tend to wear my hair kind of spiky and mussed anyway, even when suited up for court, and he knows how to make the balance. The ultimate compliment to Alfredo is that Jacky now gets her hair cut by him -- she continues to get the other "stuff" done over at Michael Anthony Salon, but swears by Alfredo now as well. As far as price and attitude, etc.? It's consistent with every other salon you'll go to, seriously. And one of my pet peeves is seeing some ex-frat boy in their late 20's wearing a killer suit, good shoes, nice briefcase, and what is obviously a $5 haircut from Bob the Barber and his Flowbie vacuum clippers down under the PedWay. If you're going to try your damndest to look nice for work and play -- finish the job -- get a good haircut from a stylist. It's worth the extra scribble. read more

I was very surprised to see all of the positive reviews for this place! Where to begin...I bought the pretty city $31 haircut that should have been worth $10 because that is about all that I got out of it. First off, I scheduled an appointment at noon, taking my lunch hour to get my cut. As I sat there waiting for a half hour, no one asked me if I needed a drink, magazine, wanted to reschedule, nothing. Once I finally got washed and into the chair, things just went downhill from there. It took Alfredo at least 15 minutes to part my hair. I understand it is important to get it pretty close, but a few strands off here and there isnt going to kill the cut. And to top it all off, its not even on both sides after, so it was all for nothing. Next, he used a technique that I have never had done before which pretty much felt like "eyeballing" it. He would comb my hair down, look at it from various angles, then snip. After what seemed like an eternity of him snipping various sections, he then dryed it. OUCH. The hair dryer was way too hot and apparently me moving away from it and saying "ouch" or "oh" didn't give him a clue. I am pretty sure that I have 3rd degree burns on my scalp now...thanks =/ Once the cut was dry, he went back to add in layers which was a joke. To top it all off, my bangs. Oh my poor, poor bangs. I even brought in a picture of what I wanted and what did he do? The exact opposite. I now have a really short layer of bangs covered by a longer let of bangs and then even a longer one on top of that. I will be wearing headbands for awhile to say the least. I actually had an appointment scheduled at the same location for the next day that I cancelled because if it was anything like the haircut, NO THANKS! read more

I've been going to Alfredo for many years, and always get tons of compliments. He is able to take what you want and make it a reality, but if you have no idea what you want, he is also able to recommend cuts and colors that compliment your face, are interesting and yet not crazy (unless that is what you want of course!) Went here to get pampered, and I was! The staff is nice, and the salon is very comfortable. My colorist, Nicole, did a fantastic job! My stylist, Kristin, gave me a great blow out and somehow managed to straighten these curly locks! Some kind of magic. they were nice, but don't know how to cut hair. I've never been one to cry over a bad hair cut, and even though I didn't cry after this one, i did have to wear a hat for 2 months until my hair grew out. Luckily, it was winter so I did not look too weird for wearing a hat around for that long. I should have taken the hint and left before getting the haircut, because even the girl cutting my hair was complimenting me on my hair when I walked in, and didn't understand why I wanted it trimmed in the back. Needless to say, I didn't end up really getting what I had asked for. She cut my bangs straight across and super short. That was not at all what I wanted. Just a cleanup for the back of my hair. that's all I asked for. Maybe this place is better for spa treatments but I will NEVER go back here again for a haircut. I guess I will continue on my search for a good stylist in Chicago. I can't keep waiting to get my hair cut by my stylist in nyc. it's getting to be a pain. read more

Attention, straight men! It's OK to get a real haircut. Go to Alfredo and explain what you want (or just trust his instincts). My friend who referred me to him calls him "the hair God", and it's not far off. After years of getting butchered at Supercuts and the like, I decided to bite the bullet and spend $50 for a real styling. I never got so many compliments in my life, and I've kept coming back ever since. He really is a wizard, and he tamed my cowlicks and other hair "problems". Best of all, I haven't touched a comb or brush in years - his stylings make it simple to "do" your hair in the morning. You don't have to do hardly anything! The salon itself is nice enough - you have what I suppose to be the usual menagerie of characters: a charismatic, friendly owner, a veteran shampoo lady with a heart of gold, perky/sassy receptionists, a color specialist who lurks about with nothing to do, a few diva/divo stylists who strut around like they walk on air, and (attention again, straight men!) a stunningly beautiful stylist who should be on magazine covers instead of cutting hair. read more

I, too, followed Krista to Parto from her former salon. I have this to say - if you have thick and wavy/curly hair, you should be going to see her. If you're not ... get on it. Before Krista came into my life I had spent 26 years suffering from the worst haircuts you can imagine because most stylists just don't know what looks good with curly hair. I cringe now thinking back on some of what my hair has endured. I don't know what Krista's background is but I ALWAYS walk away from her chair feeling like a million bucks. While she'd never let me leave without giving my hair a blow out, my hair still looks good when I finally (reluctantly) wash it out a few days later. Believe me when I say that I almost always choose the cost of something over the quality, and cheaper is almost always better. My one exception to this rule is a good haircut. I was skeptical of this salon at first, because I have one that is much closer to me in the West Loop. Nonetheless, my favorite stylist, Madeline, recently came over to Parto Naderi and I had to give it a shot. Any worries I had were immediately alleviated. The salon is beautiful, spacious, and multifaceted. It offers many different services, and most importantly, has appointments so that you can book something that is convenient for you. Perhaps the best reason for going here, though, is to see Madeline. She is a sweet, professional, and talented stylist whom I followed to this salon from her previous one. She makes suggestions based on what she thinks is best, but will only do what you agree to--no more, no less. I came in for a spa day with my 2 sisters. We made appointments for haircuts and massages. When we walked in, nobody greeted us because nobody was at the front desk. When we finally checked in for our appointments, we had no place to sit and wait because there was no seating area. We sat on the blowdryer chairs. There were a lot of celeb gossip magazines which was nice, but the were all old....and sticky! The floors were filthy, as if the hair-sweeping-person was blind. The "spa area" was located in the basement right next to a loud, obnoxious laundry room. And the spa had its own waiting area...which was gross! There were brown water stains on the ceilings. There were crusty stains on the cheap IKEA couch and pillows (eww!). After the massage, I went to the shower room. The shower room was so tiny....like the size of a Port-a-Potty, maybe even smaller like an airplane bathroom! There was mold and hair on the walls! And the floor mat to the bathroom had a terrible odor, as if it hadn't been cleaned. And the music for my massage was TERRIBLE. To the owner: I'm sorry, but you couldn't PAY ME to come back here. Please do not contact me or offer me anything to come back because I will never step foot in here again. Just fix up this place for the sake of other customers. I took cell phone pictures of everything that I saw. You are lucky that I am nice enough not to post them. The salon gets ONE star for its poor facilities but Linda the massage therapist gets 5 stars because she was really nice. Not the greatest massage, but she has great customer service skills. My sister got a decent haircut, but she's had better. It makes me ILL that people actually pay high-end prices for such a low quality place. read more

I'm not too shy to say that I have fabulous hair. So when I moved to Chicago recently, was not looking forward to "testing" out dozens of stylists to find someone I liked. I came in to Parto off the street and interviewed the receptionist about the staff to try to find someone who could cut thick, curly hair and who wouldn't turn my haircut into their evening entertainment. I'm happy to have been matched up with Maria, who is not only a wonderful stylist but also a genuinely nice person to spend an hour or more with. I have a great job. Sometimes I get to do cool things like getting pedicures on company time paid for by my expense account. I went around and received several pedicures by supposedly high end "spas". I felt like I was betraying my pedicurist. However, none of them were as good as my favorite pedicurist in the whole world, Monika. On top of that, some of them were way more expensive. I have followed her from salon to salon. Parto Naderi has been graced with her presence for a quite awhile now. I never get my fingernails done, just my toes. She manages to make them beautiful even though I like to cut them exceedingly short and my end toe nails are almost microscopic. She removes all my calluses. You would never know that my feet were the feet of a 39 year old woman. They look young, lovely, and sexy (according to my husband) thanks to Monika. My husband thinks I'm nuts because it isn't all that easy to get to (no cheap parking nearby) and all my other beauty personnel are at other salons. However, I challenge you all to find a better pedicurist. read more

I keep coming back, so I must love this place. It's tough to write a review at this place because I feel like it's a great secret that I want to keep to myself and have this fear that my guy will be so booked that he won't have time for me. He is the best and I do want him do get the business he deserves. The receptionist seem to be nicer and nicer every time I come here, and Michael is consistently incredible! I can not say enough about him and all that he can do. It's the strangest thing to say, but this man probably knows my body better than any other man. I feel like I'm goddess on a pedestal when I'm laying there, or maybe like Cleopatra. His massages are so thorough. I feel like he gets so much accomplished throughout the duration of my appointment. At other places I feel shortchanged like it was fast and they didn't do a lot. I mean he is working it, like he's exercising his hands and arms. He always seems to come up with different techniques. Now at some chiropractor offices they have this electrode machine where they can hook up some wires to your nerves on your back - well Michael kind of replicates this with his fingers! UH-MAZ-ING! The hot oils that are used make your skin so soft, I'm telling you my ass felt like a baby's ass! I'm pretty sure I will find a way to come back for another session! read more

This place is passable, but you won't get a great cut. I found that the "look" of the salon was nice, but they don't quite deliver. My haircut was not good--at least I didn't get a feeling of competency from my hairstylist--and I felt kind of rushed out. My recommendation: keep looking, you won't be happy here. read more

Krista is by FAR the best stylist I've ever had. I don't dye my hair (yet) or have any highlights, but my hair is naturally curly and can get really dry. When I first started going to Krista about 3 years ago, she noticed it right away, cleaned it up, and has kept it looking GREAT since. The best thing about Krista is that she will give you her opinion, NOT just agree with you for the sake of agreement. They are always on time, and the prices are very reasonable compared with other high end salons ($50 for a men's cut). Everyone there is very pleasant and pleasure to spend time with. Though there got to be a reason why very few salons give this deal for this service, may be it costs much more than $31. But this salon succeeded to tempt costumer as well as to give them the service which is worth exactly $31 or even less. Olivia , a French woman did my hair color, it took less than 5 minutes and 20 minutes to wait before I go to another old lady (a cleaner, may be) who washed my hair. In the end Olivia asked me if I wanted my hair dried up ?......? Kwell.. I said yes, and she directed me to an old drier and brushes with thousand types of hair entangled and a mirror in the basement. Said- here you go , you could dry your hair. And not to mention she made an old man ( another cleaner) stand and have a watch over me, of course I could have stolen those stale tools .... :((((( Not to mention the color came off my grey hair right after two days even before I could wash and blame it to the shampoo. read more

He took care of all of my request, and as a first time reviewer, I wanted to start out with a venue that actually was very good to me, opposed to a lot of the criticism I seem to find on yelp. His venue is absolutely beautiful, the staff are very friendly and accommodating, and you can tell when speaking with Parto that his passion is to make sure his clients are beyond happy before leaving. There are a couple of staff members who make it worth a visit or at least a consultation. Being new to Chicago and you know ladies how hard it is to find a great hair stylist. One that knows your hair. One that not only can cut but also color! If you are looking for this then my vote is for Krista! She is the best! She cares about you as a person . She knows my hair and style! I don't know how she does her magic but EVERYTIME I walk out of there I feel like a million bucks. Not only do I go to her but my daughter as well. Krista is a fantastic colorist and if you have wavy frizzy hair like I do then please get her Keratin treatment. You won't walk away with stick straight hair instead you will have the frizz gone and have style to your hair. I have been going to Krista for a year now after trying other salons and stylists.
