AM Farmer's Market in Templeton Park in the main town. While we already grabbed some goodies there we were curious about this Farm Stand since people gave it high grades as far as Farm Stand go. We were immediately impressed with the safety measures, the friendliness of the farming couple, the quality of the produce, as well as, the ability to walk around a bit & see all that they grow there in the compact network of fields. I especially liked the variety of tomatoes that they grow and the bicolor corn....both of which tasted marvelous with great fresh flavor. You can taste the care that they put into their products. They take pride in the Farm Stand, and it was likely one of the cleanest well organized stands I have ever seen. Beside what they had out, they also had a plethora of other herbs and veges in the modern refrigerators. While it is out in the country, it is only about an 11 minute drive from the 101, so you not only get nice country views, you get good eats. Since they are open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, they are a great option in case you either missed the Farmer's Market or crave their specific produce. While it is usually very hard to find fresh herbs at our area FM's, here they seemed to have a wide variety, as well as, fresh onions and garlic. They had a diverse selection that rivals some full service markets, and surely beat Whole Paycheck Market on freshness, price, knowledge, and friendliness. Please support these and others local Farms & Farm Stands...they are are local treasures! Thank you!

ALL of their olive oils and vinegars are delicious. Our all-time favorite salad dressing is their basil olive oil mixed with their white peach balsamic vinegar. The BEST! Even folks addicted to ranch will want to make the switch! (I used to be that person !!) I use the lemon & garlic olive oils frequently for roasting veggies. Very high quality and truly tasty. They refill bottles too at a reduced rate.

The selection is truly impressive. There's an incredible variety of infused and fused olive oils as well as different vinegars, each more delicious than the last. What makes it even more special is knowing that many of these offerings are carefully curated by the wonderful owner, Ruth, in collaboration with local farmers. You can really taste the quality, care, and passion behind every product. Ruth herself is a highlight of the visit. She's friendly, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable, making the tasting both informative and genuinely fun. I like the deli/bakery with all the fresh offerings and a nice selection of charcuterie. Veggies are fresh, not always ripe but quite costly. The price for basil is staggering! As I walk the store, there are certain items I will go there for. Veggies being one and fish, usually salmon being the other. Not a great fish selection, never have bought any of the meat from behind the counter but the packaged section is a bit above average and expensive. I will give Albertsons a lot of credit for the wine selection. It's very impressive with all the Paso offerings, coupled with much more. While I don't buy wine from a grocer any longer, it is nice to know I could find some quality local wine if needed. All in all it's really a below average store for me these days. Limited items they carry that I can't find elsewhere for a price I don't want to be reminded of when I check out. In a pinch, use them but if you are looking to save on that grocery bill I might look elsewhere.

But if you're planning a visit, build in serious buffer time. We stopped in on Memorial Day and, with several parties ahead of us in line, didn't place our order until nearly 20 minutes after arriving. By the 45-minute mark, our food still hadn't come out for two paninis and a soup. What made it especially frustrating was watching parties who arrived after us get their cheese orders and drinks served before anyone had even started assembling our sandwiches. It was clear the shop was understaffed for the holiday weekend, with one person managing the counter and another in the back prepping. We ended up asking to take the sandwiches cold just to get out the door, only to have both stuffed into one small bag, sloppily wrapped. The soup, unfortunately, came out lukewarm regardless. None of this felt malicious. The shop has an unhurried, artisanal quality that's part of its appeal, but that can't fully account for the gap between the experience and a nearly hour-long wait for a simple lunch order while others moved ahead of us. Come for the cheese, come for the atmosphere. Just don't come hungry with anywhere to be.
