I was craving sushi this past weekend and stumbled upon Passion Fin since my hotel is next door. What a great find!! First of all the service is great. Period. The sushi is some of the best I've had. Their salmon was smooth and buttery tasting. I tried the dragon roll as well and it was amazing! It has mango and eel inside with avocado and tobiko on top. Yumm. The sushi dinner combo is a good deal. The simple maki rolls have a lot of fish inside them and arent just loaded with rice. Some of the reviews say their hot food was bad but i completely disagree! There was also large chunks of tomato that I felt like was too acidic for the creaminess of the curry sauce. The curry temperature was lukewarm and I have a preference for my food to be warmer if it's freshly cooked. The rice was also a little hard as if it was sitting in the rice cooker for around a day. My friends ordered sushi and they ended putting all the sushi orders on one plate, making it confusing for who ordered what. The meal here was disappointing. The pad thai was the worst I've ever had and it was a bit powdery? I'm not sure why it's powdery but it was not good at all. It was very bland and came with little to no toppings. The yellow curry was just as disappointing. It was super watery and didn't taste anything like curry. My wife and I came to this place based upon yelp reviews in the area we were in at the time. There is plenty of parking in the area and it is conveniently located next to the Dunn Loring metro. When you first walk in it has a super cool vibe and the decor is modern and up to date. There is enough seating for everyone and the staff are friendly. The menu is decent and they have a great selection of drinks. The food came out fast and it tasted really fresh. My wife and I literally inhaled 3 rolls in the matter of seconds and asked the waiter to pick a fourth. The fourth roll came out and it was excellent! We will be back here again! The place loses a star based upon the background music sounding like a playlist from a 13 year old girl from the late 1990's. Also, it can get pretty pricey if you don't choose your rolls carefully. I have to say that, out of all the sushi places in Northern Virginia, Passion Fin is my favorite. I've been eating here (both in store and takeout) for the past four months after some quality consistency issues at Iron Chef House (another great sushi place at around the same price but I've had several bad experiences before in ordering delivery and sitting in that makes Passion Fin my preferred place to go). First off, the sushi here is great! There's a perfect portion of fresh rice in the rolls that isn't overwhelming like Quickway (another sushi place around the same area) and the fish is also fresh and delish! My favorite rolls will have to be the yellowtail, spicy crab roll, spicy yellowtail, and the rainbow roll; I order the first three every visit and I haven't been disappointed yet! As for other items on the menu, I'm pretty sad to say that I haven't had much else to order outside the rolls and the complimentary lunch side of miso soup since I get full pretty easily with what I get. However, on days I can still eat a little more, I like to order a few slices of sashimi and, out of all the fish in the sea, the salmon sashimi slices are the tastiest! Normally the slimier texture of salmon puts me off when it comes to eating it in rolls but the salmon sashimi here is a must have if you're not interested in the regular rolls they have! read more

I asked the waitress about the missing seaweed and she said that it had no seaweed and that if I didn't like it she could just take it away. She said this very rudely. I tried to ask why it mentioned having seaweed in the menu but she had stormed off with plate in hand leaving me to talk to myself. I heard the loud thump of the plate when she threw onto the counter. She never asked if I wanted anything else to eat or apologized for the discrepancy in the menu. My co-worker and I will not be returning to this place as we felt disrespected as customers. I have delivered over 20 orders for blackfin. I have gone in with a smile, and left with a taste of attitude and poor customer service. I don't know about their dining experience or ordering through their catering service. I can however speak to the fact that every time I pick up from this restaurant , the wait is a minimum of 30 minutes. Keep that in mind when trying to order from them. They have listed inaccurate times for every single order I have placed with them. I have lodged formal complaints with doordash and grubhub and no action has been taken. I would reccomend no one use a 3rd party service for this restaurant, because deliveries are clearly not the priority here. All three hosts who have received me provided unacceptable service. You have to sit in the bar area, which is not a problem since there are many seats at the bar as well as high tables around the general area. While the prices for happy hour are great, the quality takes a bit of a hit. My bf and I split three sushi rolls for dinner and we each got a sake. The sushi was decent for the price, and the portions were huge! The presentation of the sushi was really nice, and our food came out pretty quickly. My bf and I were both not able to finish the sake, though. And as soon as we left, both our stomachs hurt. I'm not sure if it's because the sale was really low-shelf because it sure did not taste that great, or if there was something off with the sushi, but I'm disappointed because I really wanted to like this place. The wontons were pretty good, but I wish you could taste the crab more. The maki rolls were all excellent. My favorite of the standard rolls was the Spicy Crunch Salmon - basically spicy salmon with tempura bits. Very yummy. The Sunrise roll was a treat for our eyes and our tummy. I think it looked pretty fancy. There was also a lot going on with the different flavors of fish as well sweet and spicy sauces, but everything worked really well together. I would describe this place as your neighborhood Asian fusion joint. Nothing too fancy, casual atmosphere. Service was great. However, they should recommend that they bring the sushi to the table as soon as it's ready and not wait for the cooked entrees. They brought our food out all together, cooked entrée was hot but sushi was a little chewy due to sitting around a little too long. If the seaweed wasn't so chewy and tempura wasn't cold, I think our sushi and rolls would have been better. Orange Peel Chicken was only meh. It was on the sweeter side. I live in the neighborhood, so this is a great place for me to walk to and take full advantage of the drink specials. The staff is super friendly, remembers their customers, and works really hard to get the food on the table quickly. In addition to the amazing f happy hour, Passionfinn also has delicious crab wontons. The only thing I don't love about Passionfinn is that the happy hour is only in the bar, where it can be tricky to find a seat if you're in a ground of 3, or arriving after 5:30. I like the bar area most of the time, but would like it more if I could still have the happy hour if the bar were super crowded. It's very hard to find good sushi near Tyson's or the Merrifield area. The best sushi in this area is Sushi Prince in Fairfax. So when I saw this place had open I wanted to go try it. Restaurant was new and clean and the waiter and manager were very friendly and came by several times to ask how I was doing and if I needed anything. Ordered a few pieces of sushi and a few speciality rolls. The sushi had the right taste, freshness and flavor. However, a few of my rolls broke up as soon as I tried to pick them up with my chop sticks. I had hope they had rolled the rolls a little tighter. The presentation was well done and appealing. All in all, the sushi was good and I will return when I need a sushi fix. The price was a little high but cheap sushi is bad sushi and you definitely don't want to waste your time on bad sushi. On another note, I saw how some other reviewers commented on the other Chinese and Asian dishes they serve. Don't.... You don't go to KFC and order a burger.
