Worst nail salon I've ever been to. Rude, over priced, terrible atmosphere, overly aggressive. It's as if they don't want customers.

Living in Philly for the past 6 years I've bounced around between salons because I could never find consistency. That is NOT the case with Passyunk Nail Salon. I started to get acrylic/gel elsewhere and I'd lose about 3 nails before each refill, I've gone to Passyunk Nail Salon 8 times now for refills and have not ever lost a nail. DO NOT GO HERE. It seems that they do not give the same service across the board. I am usually one to give a generous amount of understanding and excuse to fellow humans (which is why I gave them a second chance) but I can't shake the feeling and knowledge that I was treated unfairly and I believe it was due to the color of my skin. The first time we came, I was charged extra for the same services as my friends. I assumed that there was some misunderstanding and decided to give them another shot. I walk in a little bit after my friends (both blonde haired and blue eyed) and their pedicure was already underway. I asked for the deluxe pedicure and took my seat. I notice that the woman does not give me the scrub both friends received. Then I noticed no heel/bottom of foot shaving was done. Then the woman lets my bath out while my two friends were no where near that point. When I saw the hot rocks come out for them while I was being helped into my sandals I asked "did you do the deluxe or the regular pedicure?" If she just thought I wanted the wrong one that would have been fine, but she said "deluxe". So I said, but I didn't get the hot rocks or anything. She proceeded to take two rocks and ran them up and down my legs for approximately two seconds and then proceeded to paint my toes. I was done and out of the chair way before either of my friends, who again, both started before mine. I will mention here he place was empty and no one else was waiting for pedicures at the time. Once we were all done I asked the cashier to confirm which pedicure package I received. She said the deluxe. I asked how I was finished way before the other two people that started before me. She asked the technician who said "oh you did not get the heel scrape". I pointed out all the things I didn't get. The cashier just nodded and said yes but you owe $35. That is the same amount both of the people with me paid. Rather than make a scene I decided to pay it and the tip. My friend was mad enough for me and told them that it was not right and this was the second time they had done this and it was not ok. I will not be returning to them. What I will do is take the time to write this post and ask that you don't return to their or give them your business if you are thinking about it either. I do not expect or ask anyone of anything but basic equality is not something I should have to. I should be able to walk in a business and pay for a service and receive it. Period. There should not be another component to that transaction and for someone to treat me or anyone this way is simply not ok. Thank you for reading. read more

I'm not one to do this write up reviews of any kind however there's a first time for everything. This morning I walked into my usual nail spot. The service is usually outstanding! I love Linda. She just gets it right every time. Today I was not so lucky, Linda was not in I saw two unfamiliar faces, I gave it a go. The girl taking care of me seemed unsure of herself on how to recreate the nail shape Linda does every 2-3weeks (I'm not a nail tech but Linda makes it seem effortless and painless.), which is a pointy almond shape. After sitting in her chair for almost an hour and a half my nails were left extremely too short, none of them are almond and the acrylic is caked on. I had to ask her to reshape then several times. She had no idea what she was doing. It was like she winged it. Not to mention as she was trying to get the shape down she filed into my skin and kept trying to shape them as I was bleeding on her nail file. I gave up on asking her to correct it then came the gel polish. Just clear polish with a bit of sparkles nothing insane. She tried. The polish definitely bubbled and looks like those ugly ass bubble nails. I said to her they feel quishy can I dry them under the light again. She pulled out the cord from the uv lamp and said no. After that came my time to pay. I had a refill with gel polish. Usually 25 dollars even with a cut down. She charged me 40 for mis-shaped nails all crooked and bubbly. I will never go back there unless I'm sitting in Linda's chair. What I love about that place was the consistency. I knew what I was getting when I walked in until today. If your two main nail techs aren't going to be there on a Sunday you gotta make sure you have someone there that meets their standards. Rant over. read more

DO NOT allow the only man in the salon touch your nails. I decided to try their $20 gel manicure. I sat down with the only guy in the place and he immediately answers a FaceTime call. He was obviously not paying attention when removing my previous gel manicure because he chipped my nail. I told him to stop and pay attention. He apologized and hung up the phone. Then he tried to keep scrapping gel off my nails and I tell him to stop again because he is clearly doing damage. He says sorry AGAIN. Finally he stops scrapping my nails and resorts to filing my nails. He was so bad filing my nails that he filled my skin and made me bleed! Thankfully the owner noticed and sat me with someone new. The man continued to cause problems during my manicure. He should be fired or denied business at least. read more

This is a cheap, bare-minimum sort of place, but it works. Everything is a little dirty, but the women are nice & do good work. I get a mani pedi one or two times a month and appreciate the customer loyalty card. I would recommend cutting before you come if you like your nails on the shorter side like me ;) read more

Had a wonderful spa day at this nail salon with my sister. My nails came out looking fantastic.

This is my go to nail salon in the neighborhood. It's a smaller place, but I've always had a solid experience.
