Wife & I are on a cross country road trip and while passing through Moab, we checked into our hotel and wanted to grab some takeout to eat at hotel. I called Pasta Jay's and the person who answered was very helpful, polite & friendly. My order was ready quickly and once I got back to hotel, the meals we ordered were delicious and if we were in town longer, we'd definitely go inside and eat in the restaurant. This place served delicious food! I wouldn't think there would be good Italian food in this small town of Moab, surrounded by rocks, but I was wrong. We were so hungry that we ordered a lot for just the two of us: minestrone, chicken alfredo, stuffed jumbo shells and tiramisu. Everything was delicious. Their minestrone was well seasoned with big chunks of zucchini. The alfredo was quite heavy and greasy, but if you had a full day of adventure, it's OK to eat more carbs haha. The garlic bread was very buttery and savory as well. And don't forget to finish off your meal with their tiramisu! Only Italian we could find in Moab. That said, we were pleasantly surprised - food was really good. Service from Nick was spot on - he shakes a mean martini!! Extremely limited vegetarian options, particularly for an Italian restaurant. The marinara sauce is not vegetarian and many of the options including salads that you would assume are vegetarian are not. There is a separate vegetarian menu but the only sauce options are olive oil or Alfredo. They don't tell you it's not vegetarian unless you ask. The food is mediocre. The gnocchi catalina is a Gorgonzola based dish but tastes more like alfredo sauce. To top it off the gnocchi was overcooked. Moab has plenty of better vegetarian options than pasta jays. read more

Based on our experience, if you're looking for customer service, you won't find it at Pasta Jay's in Moab. This is because the poor customer service we encountered started from the top in the manager, Thania Carrillo. Driving in from out of town, we called in an order for two take out pasta dishes. This was our FIRST time ordering from Pasta Jay's. When I arrived for pick up, and after I paid, I noticed two container charges on the bill (I've never seen such a charge at any other restaurant). I politely asked for them to be removed, since the person we ordered from never mentioned there was a container charge for takeout, even though we discussed the order price on the phone. The cashier asked the manager, Thania to come over, and she stridently said she "can't" remove the container charge. Of course, she "can" remove it, she just chose not to. So I said as much. Then she said the container charge was on the menu (which we didn't use since we ordered over the phone) and on the website. When I checked both later after I got home (https://www.pastajays.com/moab/), I searched for "container" and didn't find it listed in either place. I suggested to Thania that the best course would be to remove it this time, for customer good will purposes, and then we would know next time. She refused to consider this, even if it meant she would lose us as a customer and we wouldn't return, which tells you all you need to know about Pasta Jay's poor customer service approach. Later, I asked to speak with the owner, but the manager, Thania, refused to provide his contact information as well. Since I don't want to take the time to hunt down the owner, I decided to share our experience with others in this review. I notice the restaurant has only a 3.8 rating, which suggests that when customer service is lacking, so are other important qualities most good restaurants have. I hope this is helpful. read more

I didn't really care for pasta Jay 's, it kind of reminded me of a pizza you would get at a gas station. I gave it a five star review because the service was good and they have other things on the menu and who the hell am I to judge this place and give them a bad review far up. I personally wouldn't go back but it wasn't so bad that I don't want you to go and try it so go give it a try and write your own review. We had a great dinner and great service by Carmen on 5/6, so we were back for dinner on 5/7. Sorry to say, the service was really bad. Our waiter took our order, then disappeared. I had to get up from our table and ask if we were going to get our dinner. The manager finally showed up with dinner and apologized for reassigning our waiter to a large group that had shown up. We had no service after that, even had to find someone to bring us our check. I delivered my disappointment to the manager, her response was very neutral. My husband and I LOVE pasta Jays! We've been to both locations (Boulder & Moab) and both locations are great. The decor is the same, very traditional Italian themed. I would always recommend doing family style. I love eating small bites of different dishes so whenever my husband and I go we usually do an app, salad, and pizza. Portions can feed up to two people. All the times we've been there, we haven't had an issue with the staff. They're always so accommodating and sincere. The only part that sucks is if you don't have a reservation and have to wait but that's just because their food is so damn good. read more

We recently had dinner at Pasta Jay's on a Saturday evening. The restaurant is located on a corner in front of the Best Western Canyonlands. We arrived around 6 pm and were seated promptly, outdoors as we requested. It took awhile before drink orders were taken, but once service began everything moved like clockwork. Our waiter, Jethro, was very helpful and personable. We ordered a Caesar salad and a 14" Jay's Roman Orgy Pizza to share. The salad was fresh and good, and the pizza wonderful. The very thin crust was excellent, as was the combination of sauce and toppings. It was more than enough food for the 2 of us, so a couple of pieces went home in a box. The selection of pasta entrees was excellent, and we saw plenty of options for other visits. My only complaint was that the draft beer selection was very limited. All in all, Pasta Jay's was a great dinner choice. read more

If you are in Moab you've probably been out exploring and burning calories all day, what better time for a carb overload! That's why we chose Pasta Jays for dinner. It was a Friday night but we arrived at 4 hoping to beat the rush. We were seated quickly. We ordered our drinks and an app. They didn't get our app correct, but brought out the correct item pretty quickly! We were disappointed in the service for the rest of the night. No one checked up on us after our food was brought. We would have LOVED to spend more money on a couple of more drinks but no such luck. The food was average but sufficed. I had the Hagen option. You choose 3 different pastas. The problem was they all taste the same. The ambience is fine. It's a big open area great for kids because it's loud. Each table will receive a complementary order of their buttery garlic bread that pairs well with pasta. Seating Outdoor seating is available, but I would only recommend during the warmer months. Indoor seating is limited so I recommend arriving early or splitting your party if you have a big party. Limited high top and low top seating so arrive early to beat the crowd. Anything is Pastabowl at Pasta Jay's! I am a big fan of pasta and I love finding a good Italian spot. While exploring Moab for Jeep Safari, it was getting late and I was hoping to stop somewhere for dinner. This place was open later than other places, so I decided to give them a go. Parking is tricky everywhere in Moab, but I am a lucky girl. I was able to park right in front of Pasta Jay's on Main Street. However, be prepared that you may need to find a spot and do a little bit of walking to get there. I was seated immediately, not because they weren't busy, but because this is a massive restaurant. They have all kinds of seating inside and then they also have a covered, sheltered patio for extra seating. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is...interesting. The lighting is quite dim and it is giving Italian picnic vibes. They had a massive menu, but the Hagan option stood out to me the most. It's like a flight for pasta and I love being able to choose a few different things. I opted for the gnocchi, ravioli, and chicken parm. This seemed similar to a tour of Italy, but I especially loved that I was able to choose, rather than it just already coming with three preselected menu items. For starters, they give you some garlic bread. It's pretty mediocre garlic bread in my opinion. It's not horrible and I did like it, but it is nothing outstanding. The Hagan was okay, but I have had much better. The gnocchi was good. It felt a bit heavy but the sauce over the top of the pasta was good. The ravioli was probably my favorite--it tasted great! The chicken was probably my least favorite out of the meal. It was greasy and just not cooked the best. Still, it was nice to be able to try a few different things from the menu, instead of just one thing. The service was pretty slow. I mean, I know they were busy for Jeep Safari, but there was lots of staff everywhere and I only saw my server twice. I sat at my table for 20 minutes after I was done eating, waiting for someone to make it over to my area. Not a big deal but just a small annoyance. Overall, I did like my visit to Pasta Jays. I think there are a few Italian places I prefer over them, but it's Moab so this is one of few options in the area. They bring a cool vibe and have some decent food. I tried Pasta Jay's on a Wednesday night, and despite the city being very busy, our party of 5 was seated immediately. The restaurant was very busy and we were given water immediately. After a few minutes, our waiter arrived and took our drink orders, and since we were ready to order, we also ordered our food. It took about 10 minutes for drinks and 20 minutes for food. I had a Coke to drink and it was flat (in fairness I did not say anything to the waiter about it). I ordered the 10 inch make your own pizza with pepperoni, ground beef, sausage, and mushrooms, all "classic" toppings. It only is 1 dollar per standard topping, but if you want specialty toppings, it costs 3-5 dollars to add it to the 10 inch pizza, which seems like a lot of money (to me at least). The pizza itself had a crispy crust, and there were a good amount of toppings on the pizza. The sauce was also pretty good and there was a good amount of it. Other people in my party ordered items with pasta and it was slightly undercooked, not inedible though. The waiter was mostly attentive (except for a period of about 15 minutes when he was nowhere to be seen.) Would recommend for someone who is looking for decent Italian food in Moab. read more

I had the Fresh Eggplant Parmigiana which comes with a side of pasta, my husband had the Spaghetti with Mushroom Sauce, both came with garlic bread, and we shared a Dinner Salad. The dinner salad was more than just iceberg lettuce and canned olives as another reviewer stated. It also had onions, pepperoncini peppers, tomatoes, beets, red onions, garbanzo beans, cheese- and it was plenty to share given how generous our dinner portions were! My only complaint would be that we could have used another container of salad dressing on the side. As for our entrees, there was so much food that we had leftovers. All was tasty and filling.
