I hate to be the bearer of bad news. I was really hesitant for awhile but today I was willing to give them a try. I got a cheese ravioli and added spinach and mushrooms. I don't know where the salt was coming from but it felt like someone dumped a bunch in it. I LOVED how the actual ravioli was cooked -- I couldn't finish bc of the extreme saltiness. The ordering process was quick and easy - I was able to walk right up to the kiosk and order. The kiosk was super user friendly and easy to use, and there was a worker out front to help or answer any questions if needed. There are predesigned pastas or you can totally create your own from scratch picking out the noodles, sauce, protein, add ons, etc. There are several free add ons, and some have an additional cost, but they are well worth it. I designed my own pasta and I did: fettuccini, Alfredo sauce, grilled chicken breast, basil, chili flakes, garlic, parsley, roasted red peppers, and truffle oil. It's a lot, but somehow it came together perfectly! It was absolutely delicious! It was a good size and I specifically planned to share it so we also got the cheesy garlic bread sticks and tiramisu to share. The bread sticks were soft and well seasoned without being overpowering. They were a great compliment to the pasta. And the tiramisu was absolutely delicious - it was the perfect sweet treat to end the meal! I didn't realize how many locations there were?(!!!) Is this a franchise or does the same guy own them all? I visited the one inside Rodeo39 and not only was the owner very sweet, the head chef Jose was WONDERFUL. He gave helpful hints (always add the basil, garlic, and... maybe parsley? I can't remember) and the build your own pasta is the best deal (Jose recommended the pink sauce, and it was delish) I asked about the tiramisu and Jose said it was a must. When going to Rodeo 39, I didn't know this place was there! I have been to the stand alone in Fullerton (which I really enjoyed) so I was pleasantly surprised to see another location. I did a create your own and the guy at the front was very nice. He made sure I didn't have any questions before I ordered. Our dinner was a weird food experience. The cashier wasn't really there, so we just ordered on the tablet. The food was half good and half disappointing at the same time. We got 2 pastas to try: Spaghetti Chicken Parmesan and Penne Pasta with Pesto Sauce and Shrimp. The proteins of both pastas were great, perfectly seasoned and tasty. However, the pastas and sauces were exceedingly bland. I don't like salty food, but the pastas had no flavor. I tried dumping Parmesan cheese on them, and they didn't get much better. No complaints. 2nd pasta was pesto penne with breaded chicken. Unfortunately the penne was overcooked. The pesto was thin and oily, as if there was no cheese in it. It barely tasted of anything, minimal garlic. It was terrible. The breaded chicken tasted/looked like a frozen reconstituted chicken cutlet from costco. Guy at the front was very nice though. It was nice that you have the option to choose a pasta dish from the menu or build your own. I decided to build my own. I got the Penne Pasta with Pink Sauce, Grilled Chicken, Spinach, Onion, Garlic, Parsley, and Mozzarella Cheese. I was really impressed with how flavorful it was! Saw Pastaphony was open having taken over from Steel Pan (RIP, my favorite local vegan-cheese pizza provider). While perusing the menu, was greeted warmly by a woman. Let her know I was just checking out the menu and would finish my lap before making my decision. Ended up circling back to try their Spaghetti Chicken Parmesan. Originally thought it was over priced, but for the portion and flavor, it was definitely spot-on. The sauce was seasoned well with, what I assume was, a bunch of Parmesan cheese. Chicken also tasted quite good. My only complaint was there was less marinara than I would have liked, but overall a 5-Star experience. Took my son to Pastaphony and got him the Spaghetti Bacon Garlic Butter because, c'mon, that combo should be foolproof. Spoiler alert: it wasn't. First bite in, my son made a face like he just discovered betrayal. He said, "It doesn't taste good," and I thought he was just being dramatic. But then I took a bite... and instantly understood. That pasta was offensively bland. It tasted like someone dumped a bucket of melted butter all over. And not the good kind of butter, this was the sad, greasy kind. Like did someone just melt a stick of canola oil kind. The bacon flavor was so subtle, I had to squint my taste buds to find it. Garlic? Barely there. For a dish called Bacon Garlic Butter, it was giving none of those things... but it was drowning in whatever oil they used. I've seen soup with less liquid. I get it. It's not fine dining. But for the price I paid, I expected something that didn't taste like an afterthought. Honestly, even Olive Garden's microwaveable leftovers would've tasted better than this. Final thoughts: If you're into flavorless noodles floating in sadness and regret, by all means, give it a go. Otherwise, save your money and just boil spaghetti at home and cry into it. The food came in sturdy containers and for the price, they are good serving sizes. I ordered two pastas and it can easily feed 4 people. The red sauce had plenty of flavor with the chewy spaghetti noodles. The breaded chicken was flavorful, crispy and tender. Meatballs didn't disappoint. The place closes at 10pm and I arrived at 7pm and they told me that they couldn't make my order (chicken Alfredo) and that if I ordered any other pasta dish I would have to wait more than 40 minutes for it.
