I enjoy a lot of things about this place, but there is always something, at each visit, that keeps me from giving them a higher rating. My biggest complaint is they only seem to want to give you one serving of bread. We eat that while waiting for the food. Then the server takes away the basket. They never offer more and it seems awkward to ask as they are whisking the basket away, but it would really be nice to have bread to sop up pasta sauce. Secondly, both times we have been there, my entree has been missing a key ingredient listed on the menu (cilantro), or in one case, had only one or two small pieces (apple). My husband and I will continue to dine here. We love the free parking and sitting outside is sometimes nice, plus the atmosphere is fun. We also love the chocolate/hazelnut dessert! I'm not one to complain, unless something is very wrong , but I must say I definitely see room for improvement. This was my first time at Pastaria. Everything about it was perfect. It's so clean and the restaurant has such a fun personality the way it is decorated. My daughter had a pizza, and it was so delicious because it was cooked on a open wood burning fire. I had the pistachio pasta. This was delicious too! Highly recommend this restaurant if you want authentic Italian food. We also enjoyed the 3 dip appetizer and a slice of tiramisu. The tiramisu was as good as the piece we had in Italy. Our server was so kind and nice. I have specific foods I can not eat after 5 years of chemo. He was so understanding and communicated this with the chief. Great restaurant. The Roman is one of the best pizza's in Nashville, and is my favorite in town. Highly recommend giving a shot (The Nduja is also an excellent pizza) Vibe can be a bit stuffy, but that can be pretty standard for an upscale Italian spot. Pastaria is hard for me to review. I have eaten here countless times but it's really only because I work in the building. Overall I would say Pastaria is good BUT they are inconsistent with the food and service. My favorite thing to grab at Pastaria is the half pizza half salad lunch combo. I get the hawaiian pizza and the ceasar kale salad and it is the perfect thing to eat outside on the patio of onec1ty. I have also tried the cacio e pepe pasta. Once I loved it and the next time they drowned it in black pepper and it was inedible. The risotto balls are awesome but very heavy you will definitely want to share those with a friend. I mostly get my food to go because of the slow service (it has taken me over an hour to get lunch here before) BUT THE BREAD THOUGH. Just go once and dine in for the house-made bread dipped in the different house-made olive oils and shredded parmesan. Speaking of dining in, the atmosphere is really cute this could be a great date night or a group setting for a birthday or event (large tables). Also, the gelato comes in so many different flavors. There is ample garage parking in the building and evening valet. Overall I keep coming back so I say give Pastaria a shot and make up your own mind :) read more

Are you kidding me?? 7:30 on a Sunday night, paid for an Uber from our Airbnb to come have birthday dinner here with my sisters. We obviously chose the wrong place to try and give our business to. Walked up to a RESTAURANT FULL OF PEOPLE and saw a sign on the window saying "closed for maintenance??" Older guy at host stand (manager?) coudn't have been less apologetic. We had a really great meal, baby in tow, at Pastaria! Some of the best pasta in Nashville, hands down. It tasted fresh, has great lighting/ambience, and the service was great too. It is in a modern office(?) building with a parking garage. FREE and easy parking was definitely a bonus. We were a little confused when we drove up, because I expected a freestanding restaurant or something a bit clearer, but it was a pleasant experience and delicious meal. Fresh pasta made on site. Quite good. Ample portions. Our party ordered the fried risotto balls as an appetizer. House white wine was a study and flavorful Italian Pinot Grigio. 1/2 liter for $15, which was perfect for us. Our entrees were: 1. Tagliatelle with a pistachio-mint pesto and green beans--almost like a vignarole on pasta--classic Italian. The dish used hot chili oil which distracted from the more delicate flavors of the pesto. I would order it without the heat next time. 2. Pasta carbonara. Having just returned from a trip to Rome, I can attest to the authenticity of the preparation. Not too dry, no curdled egg, just the right amount of guanciale (cured pork jowl), just the right balance between cheese, egg, and salt. 3. Lamb ragu on bucatini. A rich tomato sauce with a pronounced lamb flavor. We loved it, but if lamb is not your meat, skip this one. Gelato for desert was very good. Atmosphere is big, open, informal. Pasta entrees run in the $13-19 range. Not cheap, but the quality of the food makes it a good value. There is a wood fired pizza oven. We will be back to try that very soon. read more

This place is great. First thing you notice is the homey, rustic Italian decor that makes it feel cozy despite it being a big dining room. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable. We went here to celebrate my wife graduating from grad school so we splurged a bit with some cocktails, appetizers and a dessert. The mule was fantastic, and the risotto balls were one of the better appetizers I have maybe ever had. I ordered a pizza and my wife got a pasta, which were both really well done. Incredible! The crispy risotto was so good and the cacio e Pepe made me want to go back again this week. I would highly recommend if you love pasta and Italian food. Our waiter was a little slow but he seemed new. The manager was walking around and was very attentive to all tables in the restaurant. The restaurant itself is moderately loud but still has a romantic vibe, which I was happy about since it was a date night. Driving for Uber I've had riders to drop off and pick up at this location and everyone has raved over it. When I visit this place again, I'm sure I will up their rating to five stars. Two minor things kept them off the top for me. One was my fault, the other was theirs. My problem was that I only ordered one dish. It was excellent, and more on that later. Their biggest sin was that the server never asked what beverage I wanted. He gave me a glass of water and that was it, and he never refilled that one glass. The server helped guide me to the Crispy Risotto Balls and I was not disappointed. Six golf ball sized morsels were served and they were very filling. I loved the Marinara Sauce. It was bright and fresh with a great tomato taste. It was also served with an herbed aioli. This was great tasting, but I liked the Marinara more. Before the meal, I was asked if I wanted bread, and I took it on. The bread was a great rustic darker bread. It had a light texture with a hearty crust. On the table was a presentation of oils and a cheese. Exploring the olive oil, I drizzled some on my bread. This was a high quality olive oil and I loved it! As I exited, I observed the wood fired oven pizza and other dishes. I want to come back and give this place a 5 star. read more

Pastaria is an Italian restaurant in the OneCity development. They've been open for a few years now and consistently serve up great pizzas and pastas. They have an excellent happy hour with half off drinks, apps (risotto balls!), and pizzas. I enjoy all their pastas, but the vegetarian ravioli is a favorite. Service is great and each meal also comes with delicious focaccia and an array of dipping sauces. For dessert, they have a variety of gelatos and cakes (their pastry chef is excellent, so don't skip dessert!). During covid-19, Pastaria has online ordering and carryout. Pastaria also has a nice event room and a great staff. We had our wedding welcome dinner here. In the summer, the amphitheater outside typically hosts Shakespeare in the Park, so Pastaria is a great stop before you enjoy the Bard. read more

I never leave reviews but this was an odd experience. This was my third visit to Pasteria. The food was great as usual. We love the risotto balls! Our server was amazing as well. But what really tarnished our visit was the manager with the red hair and big winged eyeliner. She was unbelievably rude, rolling her eyes when we asked about our dish she dropped off. Then loudly sighed when we asked if we could have a side of cheese, when we told her thank you, she gave us a dirty look and just say "ok". She just seem so annoyed by everything. Nice place to dine. A bit noisy but everyone seemed to be having a good time. We sat at the far table at the end of the bar. A little quieter, thankfully. We had the special Ravioli appetizer recommended by our FANTASTIC server Courtney/ Cortney, (it was just as wonderful as she described), followed by Strawberry and mixed green salad, then the Pizza Bianca, which again was light, creamy almost, and with an almost sweet lemony freshness. We capped off the evening with a freshly brewed very aromatic coffee and delicately crunchy and smooth coffee infused cannoli. Mind you, what made this whole meal great was our server Courtney. She was attentive, more than pleasant, funny, one of the sweetest and sincere servers we've ever encountered. More often than not, your server can make or break the experience. You can have the finest meal but if your server is "just doing a job," or has a bad or disinterested attitude they alone can ruin the best dishes a chef can offer. We just LOVED COURTNEY. To start we ordered the ricotta balls. They were delicious and we enjoyed that it came with two dipping sauces (marinara and an aioli). Great food and an amazing staff. Right off the bat we were greeted so kindly by the hostess. They had a happy hour menu with a variety of options and a nice selection of cocktails. We had the risotto balls, kale salad and chicken parm. Everything was delicious but I really loved the kale salad. Christopher was our server and was very attentive and helpful offering input and answering all our questions while training another girl. Everyone was indecisive about what to order so we decided on 3 pastas, 2 pizzas, the half kale salad, and of course gelato for dessert. Portions are large enough to share. Between the 6 of us eating there was plenty of food and enough left over for leftovers. I highly recommend splitting a pizza and pasta with someone...and get the best of both worlds. *Happy Hour Review* - we didn't even know it was Happy Hour :) My husband and I checked on Pastaria on a whim, let's be clear, this was one of the better whims we've had. The exterior of building is super cute and inviting and I just wanted to walk in! The servers were super friendly as soon as we walked in and I knew we made a good choice. We arrived during happy hour (to our surprise!) and we were able to order off the menu. The draft beer was $4 for happy hour, so we gladly each ordered a craft beer to celebrate. Our waiter brought us bread while we looked over the menu. Wow - this bread was great! Also the table had options of oil, fresh parm. cheese, and another oil olive which seemed to have peppers for dipping. We chose a happy hour pizza for $10. The service was super quick and the pizza was very good! The server even let us same the gelato for free at the end of the meal. Phew I reallllly wanted to love Pastaria. Nashville is a complete Italian Food desert, so I am glad to see that it was so full on a Saturday night. Let's get into it! First course I had the risotto balls, which are way too rich. I think if they increase the size of the arancini and make it one per person they could really refine the inner texture & flavor. Grana padana just doesn't need to be inside the arancini itself - again bringing this down to one larger ball and dusting with Grana Padana would be a much nicer touch. Also they can ditch the aioli, as it is already very rich. It was super crispy on the outside, and the tomato sauce was good, definitely a little more on the acidic side. I'll also say we had maybe the most attentive & engaged server that I have had in Nashville in the 12 years I've lived here: Emily D - not sure if Pastaria will read this, but she did an excellent job communicating flavors and taking the time to cultivate an extremely welcoming & warm dining experience. Now we have to talk about the toasted spaghetti & clams. This was not good. The toasted spaghetti was beautiful - triple underline "al dente" perfectly cooked and wonderful texture. The clams were extremely tough & the sauce was a citrus explosion - I think the subtleties of this dish missed the mark. Also, it's Saturday night, I'm paying what I perceive to be a lot for the experience, I'd love to see some clam shells. It speaks to the detail of freshness, and I think little necks would be a far better choice than razor clams. None of the clams were edible and felt like I was chewing gum. More attention could be paid to the clam itself in its preparation. Not sure how easy or cost effective it is to get high quality shellfish. I will definitely go back and order something more "southern" aka something that shows off local meats like the pappardelle or the bolognese. My wife had the pizza, it was fine (beautifully floral olives) but Bella Napoli still shits on all the other pizza in town. I've been a handful of times, and I'm already settling into my go-to routine. First, I try to go during happy hour to take advantage of their good deals on drinks, pizza, and apps -- hellooo, risotto balls! Weeknights are a safer bet for a shorter wait, but you can always hop on the waitlist via Yelp. Pizzas range from simple like the margherita to bold like the spicy nduja (tomato, mozzarella, garlic, oregano, honey). Yum! I haven't had a bad pie here. The pasta is really my jam, though. Go figure at a place named Pastaria! I've been all over the place with my pasta orders, and my advice is to order what sounds good. Whether that's a light sauce, red sauce, short noodle, long noodle, just with your gut, and you'll be in great shape. And don't forget save room for dessert, or at least a trip over to their gelato counter for some samples or a pint to go. Some free street parking is available, but I usually take advantage of the free garage below the building.
