Staff are very nice but the meal was disappointing and wouldn't recommend this place for brunch. My husband's meal went right through him while we were there. They also totally forgot about our order somehow. We waited patiently for about 40 minutes and others were getting their meals who came in after us. Was also bummed that my Benedict said it would come with avocado and yet there was no actual large wedge chunks of avocado, just a teeny bit of guac hiding at the bottom that was barely noticeable. My fiancé and I have been coming to Pastores since they first opened, in the middle of the pandemic. This is a family owned restaurant and we've come to know the owners and staff well. Ruben has worked hard to keep Pastores going during the pandemic. Everyone is so friendly, accommodating and they always go above and beyond for their customers. The coffee is good and all of the food is good. Breakfast tacos and mini breakfast sandwiches cannot be missed, and the chefs cook a mean turkey bacon if you like your bacon well done :) I've never had a bad meal here. This is the kind of place that makes you feel welcome and at home. This fills a void for a proper breakfast spot in Lincoln Square and is a must try. The family and I came here for a Sunday brunch and loved it. Not a long wait for an outdoor table for 4, and we spent the time just walking around the nearby shops. This place is a true gem - I think what sets it apart the most is how fresh and well-made the food is. I haven't had a ton of items on the menu, but everything I have tried has exceeded expectations: Breakfast tacos (I order these most often, they are amazing), molettes, kale/cucumber smoothie, pancakes (especially the blueberry ones), and really great coffee. Picked up their a la cart french toast, side of turkey bacon, and a short stack of pancakes. Everything was delicious. The pancakes were fluffy and light, the French toast was a very generous portion for being a single a la cart item, served with strawberry sauce and a yummy big marshmallow on the side with chocolate sticks. I placed an order online pickup order today for 4 tacos. I had to wait 15 minutes after the pickup time, and they were all put in one container. I don't know if that's show they are normally packaged, but the toppings were spilling all onto the others. That is not ideal when two had meat and I'm a vegetarian. The chicken taco was flavorless, and the potato tacos didn't come with the toppings mentioned on the menu. There was no sign of street corn, cheese or guac salsa. I basically paid $3 for potatoes on a tortilla. I am never eating there again. read more

The interior is not fancy but if you're looking for crispy hot waffle fries on a cold Sunday afternoon this place is for you. I was starving in Lincoln Square but not sure what was open given Covid restrictions. Pastores was obviously open and welcoming. Got chicken Caesar wrap which came with fries. I sat outside freezing but the fries were hot and crispy, almost like Belgian frites. Not soggy. The wrap had lots of fresh chopped salad purple onion cucumber and was wrapped in a thick pita.
