Greetings Foodzies. This morning we tried out a new restaurant in Chicago. Pastores + Brunch 1664 n Lincoln Ave. Chicago. The owners Ruben and Fatima were extremely friendly and nice. They took a big chance and opened this restaurant in November. The interior decor is comic like with interesting pictures and murals. We tried numerous items. First the beverages, the coffee was nice and strong, if you like tea they have a great assortment. We tried a couple different breakfast dishes Glenda had a twist on the traditional Huevos Rancheros (Huevos Divorciavos) they're the same only the eggs have two different sauces, one red and one green. Both tasted great we preferred the green though. I went with Steak and eggs. They came with seasoned potatoes which were very tasty. The steak was carne asada, meat was tender and seasoned perfectly. We then tried the tacos and elote (Mexican street corn). The elote was basic street corn. The tacos on the other hand were very delicious. The chicken was tender and juicy, needed a more seasoning. The fish tacos was a nice piece of cod and was breaded nicely with a flavorful light batter. Lastly I had the el pastor taco. Anyone who knows me, knows my favorite tacos are el pastor. I have to say that these were the best I have had. Ruben took the meat and charred it then added a piece on pineapple from the spit. This was a genius move it gave it a sweet taste which put it over the top. I give this restaurant 5 stars. I highly recommend this restaurant. Give it a try and let me know what you think. I ordered delivery from this place on 12/31 and started my year on the toilet from food poisoning. I ordered the chorizo skillet and it should of just been a plain skillet because I had no chorizo in mine and it was just corn and huge chunks of potatoes, there were sticks in my meal from the seasoning leaves and the yolks were over cooked but the whites of the eggs were still liquid and I tried to avoid it but I'm sure at that point my meal was already screwed. Fantastic food and customer service. My girlfriend both had the Steak Grande Burro which was amazing, I also had the horchata which was the best horchata I've ever had! The workers were extremely friendly and nice, they checked up on us to make sure our meal was good, and they were genuinely nice people. We also had the homemade flan which was delicious! This spot was awesome! Haven't eaten inside a restaurant since the covid quarantine started. I came here with my girlfriend and son, and the first thing we noticed was that we had forgotten our sons sippy cup. They gave us water, and without even having to ask, they gave our son a plastic sippy cup with water. I ordered for delivery yesterday morning - chilaquiles, Mexican street corn (off the cob), and the house potatoes. The chilaquiles were good and were served with beans and rice. The Mexican street corn was good, but I would have loved a little more spice! They lost two stars for me for the house potatoes which were bland and undercooked. Someone had clearly tried to cook them on high heat to get an exterior crisp without cooking them first. I was sad to have to toss them. read more

Found this place by accident and have been twice now this past month. The staff is SUPER friendly and attentive. Their menu has many options. The Mexican elote was delicious as well as the Mix Mex Frittata. I also tried the grilled chicken panini and the waffle fries were so crispy and yummy! I ordered the churros to go and they come with chocolate and cajeta dipping sauce. They allow you to dine in and you can also eat outside (there are some tables). My cat woke me up at the crack of dawn and I decided to make the most of it by going for breakfast solo while taking a zoom call (just listening, didn't disturb anyone!). My waitress was lovely and helpful as she could tell it was my first time. How did I miss this place coming in? What a gem! The chilaquiles were on point. Salsa verde was delicious (I assume homemade, but if not I'd like to know who makes it so I can buy it) and I was grateful they subbed in chorizo for me. I'm usually a cold brew purist, but opted for Cafe de la Olla at my server's suggestion and enjoyed it, not too sweet. Ruben and staff are so incredibly friendly and provide top notch service. My boyfriend and stopped in for breakfast. I ordered the steal cut oats, which were served in a large bowl with fresh fruit ( I don't normally go on about fruit, but it was so fresh and sweet), brown sugar. My boyfriend ordered the breakfast tacos, which were absolutely delicious ( I couldn't help but to steal a bite), they are loaded with beans, chorizo, eggs and potatoes. Street corn was solid, hungryman breakfast was also solid. Chicken and waffles, the chicken was WAY over cooked (almost to the point that it wasn't edible). The waffles and pancakes were tasty, but nothing spectacular. The waitstaff was very kind, super friendly and attentive, but overall the food was just mediocre. This place is awesome! We stopped by on a whim and are so glad we did. The portions were very generous and it's priced right. I had the Cobb salad and it came in a giant container. It has 6 egg halves, a ton of grilled chicken, and half an avocado in it! You could easily split the salad between two. My husband tried the Buffalo chicken sandwich and he liked it. The fries were good too. Everything was very fresh and the staff is very friendly. It is BYOB. I'm excited to return to try some of their brunch offerings.
