I've always loved 527 but should have listened to my better judgement and never eat out on special days: ie Mother's Day, Valentine's Day etc. on the menu things are too rushed, items are not available, substitutions are made, so the food was good but not up to 527 standard In my opinion. Went there recently for lunch and was impressed. I have eaten here a couple of times before and thought the food was really good. I hesitate to give it 2 stars but 3 would mean its A-OK which it was not. some ordered lunch specials and others off the menu. most of the table also got a cup of seafood gumbo. It was horrible. It was dark, burnt and oily. Did not taste at all of seafood. No one liked it. I don't often get gumbo at restaurants because it seldom like it. thought i would take a chance at a place like this but it was among the worst i have had I had the catfish almondine. Hugh piece of fish. the middle was really thick and tough even, but I ate around that and had plenty enough. the fish was good but, the coating or fish fry was way too thick. I prefer a lighter dust of fish fry which I expect in better restaurants but some people like it this way so I can knock it too much. but the almondine sauce was kind of gross. wish I had taken a picture of it. goopy and too think, strange color. I scraped it off. Other folks liked their main course lunch choice, beef shishkabob and scallops Desert was no better. it was ice cream on top of a sort of 'sticky cake' or something. the ice cream was good but the cake was so sweet it was inedible. Good food selection, ambience, and excellent service. I was excited to see LeRuth's Crabmeat St Francis on the menu. Actually ate this at Warren LeRuth's and it is my favorite appetizer ever. Owner was awesome. But when he left? Went to the restroom at the end of our meal and the staff who was sitting at the bar "after hours" took our $200 bottle of wine (expensive!) we ordered and would not return it back to our table when asked. They said there wasn't anything left (which is a lie). We were willing to cork it and leave. They were all sitting around the bar and laughing and drinking. I can only assume they drank the rest and laughed the entire time. Super disappointing. There was 100% wine left in that bottle and the staff wouldn't let us have it back. Overall this may be the best restaurant in Mandeville. Our server Jake was very attentive. Our drinks were promptly filled prior to being empty. The "Oysters Pablo" is a must have appetizer. You'll be wanting more when they're gone. For an entrée, my "Filet" was cooked perfectly medium and seasoned to perfection. My other half enjoyed the "Ribeye". She also said it was cooked perfectly. We finished off our meal with "Creme Brulee" which was good and something called "Ooyey Gooey Cake w/Vanilla Ice Cream" which looked like a train wreck but was absolutely delicious. This is one of those rare reviews where I don't have any complaints. Definitely will be coming back. read more

Update. Another visit, this time for a friends Birthday. Pros: Waiter Brendan was awesome! Beef kabobs were fine. Caesar salads were fine except over dressed. Bread was good. Cons: Eggplant medallions were prepared well with crab. Cream sauce had absolutely no flavor. Mac n Cheese should be dropped. All in all, a pleasant experience but not what I used to get at Pat's north 190 location. I hear he is opening a third location. All of these places suffer when the owner/Chef is no longer in the kitchen. That is what makes Sal's so good. read more

Super heavy and over seasoned food. As much blue cheese dressing on plate as greens. The turtle soup was good but on the heavy side. Worst: The champagne was flat. Such a seafood and steak staple for our area! We love eating at the bar and last night, our bartender, Sam, made us want to become a weekly regular. She rocked and had the chattiest friendly personality! She recommended a special appetizer that we probably wouldn't have ordered but got it anyway- ahi tuna stack was amaze-balls! So glad for the recommendation to move us out of our comfort zone (most food here is made to fit into your comfort zone FYI) they did a fantastic job with the Asian flair appetizer though! Sam have us Some of the most Perfect service we've had in a while- so glad to be with service industry people that love and take heart with their work! She is one of them for sure and made our night more memorable than the food on our plates. We opted for Gallaghers for our 21 year Anniversary and I'm sure glad we did. The wait staff was awesome and suggestions for our meal were right on point. I didn't see the email, when we showed up they panicked as they meant to cancel someone else's however, it wasn't for the same time. Was very excited to try it due to friends recommending it all the time. Unfortunately while having a bad day I booked a reservation at the wrong steakhouse in town. Totally my fault and should've realized it. When going in to tell them I was there for my 6:30 reservation (which I wasn't because I was at the wrong place) the late 30's male hostess was an absolute D*****bag. I joined a group last night here for dinner. I have say, I was a little skeptical seeing the restaurant location near a strip mall. This minor complaint is about the only criticism I can offer. Gallaghers was a wonderful experience. Considering the size of our group, slow service was expected and certainly forgivable. Our waitress was on top of her game though. Drinks never went dry. All questions were answered. Everyone at the table was happy. I was impressed with the service. Additionally, the food was excellent. I enjoyed the fried calamari as an appetizer. My New York strip was one of the best I've eaten. Au gratin potatoes as my side were quite tasty. I tried a few bites of the creamed spinach and pompano as well and, of course, they were great. Then the creme brulee and bread pudding proved to be delicious deserts. Finally, just to be clear, Gallaghers is quite pricy. Expect to spend around $50 per person on average. That said, the cost is absolutely worth it. Without a doubt, I would recommend this north shore spot to everyone. read more
