Loved the plated presentation too. Colorful greens on top. I've never had Bicol Express so this being my first time trying it, has set the bar high! I've heard really good things about Patio Filipino over the years and now I've finally eaten here! I think it's been one of the better filipino food places I've had. It was just too windy to be out there. DINNER Shanghai Lumpia- I don't usually like lumpia and I liked it here String beans- maybe my favorite of all the dishes. We wanted veggies and it was pretty good. Came with minced longanisa which was better than I expected Paella- pretty good, came out faster than expected Caldereta- also good but maybe one of the dishes I would skip next time Dinuguan- family favorite, I was indifferent Kare kare- I liked that there were lots of veggies. Not sure if everyone got to the meat first but there wasn't much when it got to me. Also, I prefer a thicker sauce Crispy kare kare- deconstructed kare kare. A place I will always keep going back to with my mom. The food here is delicious and gives me the feeling of home My personal favorites is the Bangus Sisig and the Lechon Kawali. The Bangus Sisig comes out on a sizzling hot plate, the mixture of the lemon and the creaminess is perfect. On to the Lechon Kawali I don't even know where to start, from start to finish it's crunchy all around. Even when I took the Lechon Kawali home as leftovers, it was still crunchy. I waited a few years and ordered food last week hoping the taste and quality magically went back to what they served in their early years, but sadly it's still terrible. Their Kare Kare is so watered down you can't even taste any peanut butter. The dinuguan is 1% meat, 49% inedible parts (see photos), and 50% sauce. Huge ripoff! My wife and I don't usually go to Filipino restaurants. Why, when your parents can cook still and you can get your favorite Filipino comfort foods at home for free. I know. Sounds cheap and yet I suspect many of you Filipinos feel the same way about your parents home cooking. However when we visited my wife's Aunt in San Francisco we were torn. Her Aunt makes the most amazing kare kare. But she's a little more fragile now so with much fighting and a little deception we convinced her to let us take her out. We had a whole bunch of places from Yelp to choose from also but when her son said he wanted to bring us to his favorite place we said sure. But wait it's Filipino? You can imagine the side eye Aunty gave us all. Going to pay for what she could have cooked at home lol. Well, blame it on her son. For the table (five of us) he ordered: -Appetizer combo: lumpianitas, wings, calamari, and shrimp. This was okay. Standard fried appetizer platter. -Crispy Pork Tata: These were absolutely amazing. Crispy skin. Juicy pork meat. He ordered TWO. We finished only one because there was so much and I could hear my doctor in my head just screaming "stop!" But omg this was a meal by itself. My cousin happily took home the other piece. -Sizzling sisig bangus: This is a personal fave of mine. Shredded milkfish in a creamy lemon sauce. I probably ate half of this plate. -Sizzling beef salpicao: cubed tenderloin in a Worcestershire sauce. I didn't like this as much as I had hoped. Felt it was too salty. Unfortunate since my cousin highly recommended it. -Green beans with longanisa: you had me at longanisa. It was the only vegetable dish we got so I made sure to "eat my greens". You know, be healthy. -You bet we ordered garlic fried rice and you bet I ate my share. -My daughter had ordered a Calamansi based drink which we had to remind them about bc all the food came out before that did. We chanced upon this place while walking through a windy & cold night in San Bruno from our friend's hotel to another intended Filipino restaurant in the area. Glad the group was in agreement to try this establishment out. Having never heard of this enduring Filipino-Spanish restaurant, I actually had doubts. That all went away when our Chicken Tinola was served. The soup was so good it exceeded my expectations for such a traditional Filipino viand. Next was a round of San Miguel Brewery's Red Horse extra strong lager and we were good to go. The Crispy Pata (deep fried pork leg) was the next "ulam" that was hands down, another winner. Delicious to the bone as I chewed it clean after we partook with the crackling skin and juicy pork meat. Not a fan of Callos (beef tripe) so I can't compare this dish to previous experience. I'd still give this one 4/5 stars though. For dessert, we shared the Mango Frozen Brazo (custard filled rolled meringue cake). Easily A+. Service wasn't as quick as we hangrily wanted it to be, but the joint was handling several large parties that evening. My brother-in-law recommended we try Patio, which is one of his favorite Filipino spots in the Bay Area. He even went as far as saying that they had the best crispy sisig. I actually don't eat pork, but even I knew those were bold words. We had dinner reservations for a table of 10 at Patio at 7pm on a Friday. The place was busy, and most guests came with big parties of 8+ people. Half of our group arrived on time, and the restaurant went ahead and got them seated at our reserved table. We ordered several things off the menu including the appetizer sampler (fried calamari, fried shrimp, wings, and lumpia Shanghai), garlic rice, pandit bihon, bangus sisig, chicken adobo, pork sisig, bangus sisig, and crispy pata. I ate the fried calamari and shrimp, bangus sisisg, garlic rice, and a piece of chicken adobo. I also ordered a side of fried egg to make my dish a silog. Loved the fried rice and bangus sisig. I apreciated that the fried egg was perfectly overeasy with a runny yolk. More often than not I get the yolk cooked nearly all the way through. The other dishes were satisfying as well. I can't vouch for the pork sisig, but it was unanimously agreed by the other guests in our party that Patio's is the best. We shared desserts among each other including the fried flan and frozen mango. The fried flan was fun to try once. The frozen mango dish was so unique. It had a chopped mango topping and mango ice cream over a meringue base, which we realized had the texture of the cake part of brasso de mercedes. Lastly, I thought the service was fine. Some dishes came out quicker than others, but the staff members apologized for being backed up in their queue. read more

We came here last month to celebrate my niece graduation. The food is good for the price We had a cake that we brought to the restaurant for our guest, after we served the cake and there is at least half of the cake that is left. The stuff just took the lefr over cake and eat it without asking our permission if we are done with the cake. Me and my family really liked this place! It was busy when we went and I guess my only critique was the lone girl who was serving (the 2-3 other people else seemed to be busing tables). Patio Filipino serves hearty and comforting Filipino food. We came here for a family birthday celebration and reserved part of the restaurant to enjoy a private party of 20. Our table was a little cramped since it was a long table and half of the guests were sitting against the wall. Getting in and out was quite challenging. I was happy to sit on the end. The ambiance was nice but dated. It felt like you were at your lola's living room from the 90's. However, the food did not disappoint! We selected a few orders of the Patio Sampler, Sinigang, Bulalo, Sotanghon Guisado, Crispy Pork Adobo, and Lechon Kawali. Everything was tasty and flavorful. I especially enjoyed the Crispy Pork Adobo. It inspired me to not make my adobo at home soupy. I now caramelize it to give it a more intense flavor. So good! The Pandan Jello Refresher was delightful. Definitely a palate cleanser and very refreshing. It lives up to its name. This type of home cooking is what I miss the most when I moved to the East Bay. Came here at about 7:30 on a Thursday and we were seated right away. Our server was super sweet and attentive. She took our order and I told her I had shrimp allergies. She was very careful on explaining dishes that has shrimp and even suggested that she will seperate the shrimp from the appetizer sampler which I very much appreciated. We were excited to have Filipino food after days of vacationing so we were looking forward to this. Literally last minute cancellation for an order placed and paid almost a week ago.... And their dumb reason is something popped on the oven... For $76.00, I got a chicken adobo with a lot of bones, not very meaty, extra plantains (did not request). Combo pancit of bihon and canton noodles. I asked for no Chinese sausage. The order had 3-4 pieces of Chinese sausage. When you tell a food server to make your food to order, I would have an expectation that they would make the food to order. Maybe it was I didn't speak Tagalog, who knows. Today, when you order takeout, the restaurant figures they're getting paid anyway so disregard your customer. The only dish that wasn't screwed up was the bangus sisig. Everything tasted good. I like your style of Filipino cooking. I just wish your business wouldn't skimp on ingredients.
