Tried it for breakfast today, can't say I was at all impressed. The server was kind of pushy and had pretty sarcastic answers, and not in a charming way. They don't refill soda, even though they have it on fountain. Weird. I asked for a glass of water, which she never brought. Eventually had to get up and take a glass and water pitcher back to our table. They forgot to give my companion his toast, it sat on the counter until we had basically finished our meal. I love diners, but I could do without going back here. read more

I can't stress enough how bad this experience was. In a city with so many options, do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. I tried to order a grilled bacon and egg sandwich, which is on the menu and he told me he couldn't do that. Without cheese it wouldn't stick together. (The menu item didn't have cheese). So, I am a good sport. "Okay, thanks for the recommendation. Bacon, egg and cheese then." He charged $1 extra for that cheese. Making my sandwich $7. Someone else asked if the egg in their sandwich could be scrambled instead of fried. He said "maybe." There is only 1 other customer in the restaurant, not table of customers--just one old man. My husband wanted decaf coffee. The had instant. I ordered tea. It was the sweetest syrup-y poured from a bottle of tetley that I could imagine. One sip. I didn't drink it. $2.25 wasted. The bathroom downstairs is something to experience. You have to duck to get in. Clean though. read more

Don't come here with food allergies. We're regulars here and they made a mistake today by putting cheese on my husbands burger after I specifically ordered no dairy. Hey scraped the cheese off and reserved it. Cheap. What's worse is when we told them the waitress asked if it would be ok to scrape it off!! We were embarrassed FOR HER. Never been bold faced asked that before and we've dined at some dives. UNREAL THAT THEY ASKED AND THEN ACTUALLY DID IT. Now my husband is sick. Allergies are as real their ignorant asses. read more

3.5 stars. I don't have much to say about this place...this is a open kitchen operation, and most of the customers here are from the neighborhood. I came here for brunch...everything is just mediocre...my tables and water glass are not shining. My fish and chips is just not worth of my hard-work money. read more

Worst value and worst quality. How hard is it to screw up eggs. Make them clean. Make a good bagel. Such a great location and urban density. This place sucks bad. I'd like to go with it higher but I can't... The price is great for the breakfast (it's all I've had their) I mean for being on King St I appreciate theyve maintained the greasy spoon price... But don't expect quality service, same guy (assuming owner) but he gets the job done so I won't complain... I will however negativity comment on the cleanliness and fruit flies... This is my breakfast spot and since moving from the neighborhood its also become the place I miss the most in the area. I have been there for lunch a few times and everything I have had has been great but for me its all about the breakfast and I'll say that it is one of if not the best simple breakfasts in the city. read more

I have to amend my previous review a bit. I visited this restaurant for lunch today and found that their lunch options are quite a bit less appealing than the breakfast. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and it was cold, small, and absolutely not worth the $11 it cost. Stick to breakfast if you decide to try this place. read more

Perfect Diner food with a great breakfast! Western was perfect - coffee always topped up.

Not a whole ton of variety but the food is quite good. For about $2, you get a big plate of onion rings! Staff are really nice and friendly. There are lots of old Hollywood posters on the walls, giving the diner a vintage, all-American vibe. Sucks that it's cash only but it adds to the diner's old-school charm. read more

Reasonable diner but nothing special. Eggs tasted very buttery. Service was mediocre but nothing to complain about. Cash only, which would be acceptable if they were a cheap diner but they're not, so they should really get with the times and accept debit at a minimum. read more

Always come here for breakfast with family. Service is great, food is great, some good regular coffee and got a home-y feel. If your looking for a decent home style breakfast nothing fancy this is the place. Usually the server is by himself, so relax take it easy on him. I go here on Saturday mornings before heading over to St Lawrence Market. Old school dinner that is aware of its nostalgia. The fluffiest pancakes I've had in a long time...a must try. I went to the restaurant at 11:07 on a thursday, asked if I would still be able to receive the breakfast special for the same price which was supposed to end at 11:00. The owner responded "No way, It ended at 11:00". I left right away. Such a turn off when an owner wont even try satisfy a student by giving them the special a couple minutes after the time. Instead of him not gaining a $2 profit on my special, he lost my entire $12 bill and all of the other profits I would have brought if I was given decent service. Rude. read more

Patrician Grill is arguably the last classic diner in Toronto. Family-run, original fixtures, bottomless coffee, and great fresh breakfast. Anything else would be trying too hard. read more

Wow, customer service is lost on this business! I have food allergies and made it clear to the server. She assured me that it would be fine, so I placed an order...many issues ensued from there. 1) She did not let the cook know of my allergies 2) I overheard and let the cook know, as they are quite severe 3) The cook asked if he could use butter and one of my allergies is dairy. I said "no" and he replied in a snarky tone "good thing I asked". Ah, I already told you - dairy allergy, buddy. 4) We had a long conversation about how big of a deal it was to provide 6 slices of cucumber instead of half a plate of home fries and toast 5) My bill came to $10 for snotty eggs and 3 pieces of bacon. I inquired about all of the food I was unable to eat, the owner made a rude comment about "you gluten people, no, we cannot change the cost". Ah, hello? You only fed me half of the food. 6) Cash only... what is this, the dark ages? Best of luck keeping in business if you are discriminating against those with food allergies! read more

Unimpressed. Coffee cups are small and without much taste. Omelettes use fake cheese. Wait staff have little personality. All of this is okay if prices accordingly, but prices are on par with some of Toronto's best. Suggest folks check this place out only if the line at Le Petit Dejeuner is unbearable. Awesome burger lunch and crisp fries, sitting at the counter with a Coke. Truly a throwback to the 50's diner. It's family owned, the wait staff banter with all the regulars. Here's a conversation I overheard; one of the guys who work there calls up someone on an actual phone with a cord on it.. "Hello Ma? I need another apple pie for tomorrow. OK Ma, I gotta go." This place is awesome. I've been here three times in three weeks since moving to Toronto. The clubhouse sandwich is made with authentic roasted turkey (no processed deli meat used here), the french fries are crispy and hot. The breakfast is tasty (try the "Louie") and is the real deal in terms of diner fare. On the lighter side, the chicken and Greek salad combo was a good choice. If you want dessert, try the homemade rice pudding which is creamy deliciousness. The decor is actually retro because this place is decades old. It says something that in the fickle and challenging restaurant industry these guys are still around. Service here is speed of light fast. I recommend this place for no frills yet solid food and service. read more

OK, so went with the reviews but really, the guy that is trying to serve everyone is so plastic you could wrap a sandwich with him. What got me, is the sign outside for breakfast [greasy spoon heaven] for $8.75. Well I thought it was great until I saw it was 11:06 and the special was only until 11:00. So the guy totally blows it off and says nahhhhhhhhhh.........that's over. So we're forced to order from the very few selections for breakfast on the regular menu. I mean, I know policy but come on, 6 mins. on a Saturday? Well the Western was close to $10, + coffee, so I'm a little pissed - not cheap here, but based on principal, I ate the less than adequate portion thinking about the deal I missed. My coffee cup was empty from the time he brought the food, and never asked if we needed anything - had to get up and ask the woman behind the counter for a jam. They don't accept credit cards either, and when I asked, he said "is that a problem?" I paid the bill at 11:38 and I accepted all of the change back and returning the favour of me being the asshole [as I felt he was to us], I said "I don't tip after 11:30, and walked out.
