First of the staff was beyond friendly and helpful! We had our dog with us and they brought him water while we enjoyed dinner and drinks on the the limited patio space. You order at the bar and they give you a number and serve it to your table. The mixed drinks are delicious and hand crafted as well. Maple old fashion is a little sweet then I like my old fashions but a goos contender. The prohibition whiskey with egg whites is delicious and smooth, similar to pina colada with no coconut, if that makes sense? The gin Alexandra with egg whites was super refreshing tasted similar to pink lemonade with a smooth finish. Some how we always find our selves at Irish pubs everywhere we go and this place did a great job adding a Kentucky spin off on Irish pub. I came here with my friend once when we were destroyed drunk. I think they even threw us out (he is a very rowdy drunk, I'm making that up but he doesn't remember that night so I can say anything). Anyway, this bar has a great selection of beer and bar food. They have a good mix of seating options as well from high and low top tables to stools at the bar. The bathroom is in the basement and you have to take an elevator to get there. This isn't always fun, you know? However, it can't be helped. This is a review for the Gatsby gala on NYE! My friends and I had so much fun dressing up as though it was 1922! The drinks were fantastic and the bartenders were very friendly especially considering how packed O'Shea's was! They also had a large selection of both cocktails and liquor so everyone found something they liked! My only concern was that as the night went on, the tables got pretty dirty and weren't clean. Ate here on a Saturday night with a large group. You do have to order your food at the bar but they bring it to your table. If your looking for a restaurant with servers to wait on you this isn't the place. With that said, if you want delicious food, this is the place for you! I got the salmon, Brussels, and cheese grits. My son got the shrimp and lobster grits, others had fish and chips and some had burgers. We had chips and queso, pretzels and beer cheese, and fried green tomatoes for appetizers. The pretzels and beer cheese may now be my favorite in town. Everyone enjoyed the food and the bar. My son loved it so much he talked a group of his friends into going their for dinner before prom. They were able to reserve a table for them. If you are downtown try this place out! If you're not downtown, drive there and try it out! We only ordered drinks, but if our ordering experience is anything like our dining experience would be, it would have been subpar. My husband had to repeat my drink order 4 times and they still got it wrong - It was a drink off the menu, with no olives. For three straight nights, O'Shea's served as our group's shelter following long days at Forecastle Music Festival. It would've been easy -- understandable really -- for the store to refuse our degenerate selves when they saw our music festival wristbands. But up until the kitchen closed at midnight, this place promptly and consistently served satisfying, huge servings of food. We were particularly fond of the fried chicken tenders and bread with beer cheese. Seriously, this was quality food considering how late at night they were churning items out. So even if you aren't an annoying, festival transplant, you'll still likely have a great time for food, drinks and ambience. The Original Highlands location is also great if you want a more outdoor/patio experience, but that's a review for another day. read more

This place is the best! We went there a few days ago for lunch and drinks and the food was good. Molly took care of our drinks and made them just right. Last night we went back for late night drinks and had the best night of our trip! Nick, Alicia and David are great bartenders but also a lot of fun! We all agreed we wished we had spent more time there during our trip instead of constantly looking for someone who knew how to make a drink. Since the last time I was here, they have made some changes. To the decor, seating and menu. The front area now has some higtop tables and cozy looking seats. It is much more inviting. Not that it was cold before, but it leaves an impression now. The menu has had some changes. I have loved the Kentucky Proud Pork Burger. Which they still have, but the honey mustard sauce has changed. The beer cheese was good, but it was strange to have it served with a small loaf of bread that needs to be sliced....I'm used to having big soft pretzels, chips or hunks of bread. It's really good, it was just a little strange. So the food is good. Our server at lunch on 1/26/13 was fantastic, think his name may have been John. A very good, tasty lunch! read more

Let me begin with the fact that I tend to visit the original O'Shea's in the Highlands as it's closer to me and parking/traffic aren't quite as bad as Main St. Having said that, I've been to this location for at least four, St. Paddy's celebrations since many friends work downtown. Those past experiences are what I've compared this latest visit against, not a standard Thurs happy hour. I arrived around 3:45 and the friendly hostess told me to pick any seat that I fancied. I grabbed a small table in the front room as the back can be a bit dark on a nice day. Smoke from out front came through the open doors, so I moved a couple of times to avoid. Trade off for some sunshine. I ordered a Trinity (Guinness, Smithwicks, and Harp) while I waited for my friend to arrive. Ten minutes later, she arrived and was placing her drink order, but I had yet to receive mine. When mine came, it didn't look correct. I questioned the server who hurriedly told me that it was what I ordered (when the bill came, my suspicions were confirmed). We decided on fried cheese balls and fried pickle chips to share. I added a cup of the soup of the day (potato) and my pal got a half order of fish and chips. The starters were tasty as always - maybe a tad on the greasier side for the pickles. My soup, however, had a crust on the surface and was tepid. It was if it had been holding for the rest of the meal. I couldn't seem to locate my server to tell her the situation. I appreciate that holidays are busy times for restaurants. This is why they have special menus and additional staff. I've been to Patrick O'Shea's on St. Paddy's when it's been crazy busy and the quality of service and food have both been much better. We still enjoyed our happy hour, but may try the new O'Shea's in IN (or go back to the big brother) next year. read more

In Louisville for just a night to get an early start on the Bourbon Trail, actually found a different restaurant but walked by this place and decided it had a vibe we liked! Being Valentine's Day they had a preset lover's menu, but it was way too much food for us. Went with a combo of shared plates. First up was a spinach salad. Delicious with a light dressing, plenty of bacon and a combination of cherry tomato. Great flavor and very filling. We got the pretzels with beer cheese. OMG that cheese was so good. Pretzels were big and hot. We rounded out the food with pulled pork nachos. Lots of meat, so tasty. The real star of the night were the beer choices. While I am a wimp and had to stick with my usual cider (which was a pear cider and very light and refreshing) husband tried many of their beers and found the next one to be even better than the last. The food here was good, beer excellent but the best thing was our server Linda. Knowledgeable and friendly, also gave great recommendations for our stay in Louisville. read more

Such a great spot ! There is the option to sit outside or inside and they have plenty of space to stay distanced. We were staying at Hotel Distil so this was a perfect distance from our hotel. The drink menu was huge and we could have probably stayed here all night. They appetizer we ordered was amazing (blue cheese chips) and we also got the Duffy classic burger with fries. Probably the best fries I've ever had , they literally melt into your mouth as you eat them , so so good!! Service was great and everyone was really nice !! read more

So on the Bourbon district lies this little place called Patrivk Oshea's. Lemme tell ya...... it looks like a bar fresh out of a Ray Donovan show on the inside which is a BIG plus. There aren't many locations that know how to prepare a decent Sheppard's pie. Patrick O' Shea's definitely puts this menu item on the map. Looking around the city for good food spots is not very hard, but if your in town then this should definitely be a pit stop for your culinary adventure!! Atmosphere, food quality, and service are three elements that I use to gauge the star count at any restaurant. The atmosphere was extremely inviting. Walking toward the center of the establishment, there was what looked like a stage of some sort. The views all the way up to the ceiling brought in a good amount natural sunlight which also helped the setting. The service was pretty good and the ladies at the front greeted us warmly as we walked in. Our waitress was pretty attentive and helped answer some questions about specials and food orders. The food was excellent! We ordered fish and chips and of course, Shepard's pie (see photos). Food was great and very authentic. Do not go here unless you enjoy watching employees walking around and ignoring you. We had an event tonight and walked over for a night cap. We felt completely invisible. I asked if we could get service for our party of 8 AFTER waiting for 20 minutes. One guy said he would be there. Never took the time to walk over. As we were leaving i said "goodbye! Evidently you are not interested in serving customers. Put a closed sign up." The bartender said "Have a good night," with a smirk. I absolutely will never walk foot in there. After our tour at Old Forester we wanted to try the Statesman expression before buying the whole bottle and were directed to this bar. It has a vintage and cozy feel to it making it easy to relax and unwind. We grab two seats by the bar and are greeted by a charismatic barkeep who ended up taking care of us like old friends. He was funny, nice, and well dressed and kept us entertained during our entire visit. We ordered our first round of drinks and enjoyed the vibe and conversation amongst each other and to our surprise another round was being brought to us. Irish Coffee Shots! They were amazing and blended so well that even someone who is not a big coffee drinker (like my fiancé) would be pleased with the drink. We had such a good time here and look forward to our next visit when we return to Louisville. read more

Our cousin's rehearsal dinner was held here and we had such a fun evening! The restaurant is very long and has a second floor. We had the very back two rooms reserved and it gave us more than enough space. I will note that the steps to the second floor are located in the back room. So we did have people not associated with our party occasionally passing through. But this was such a casual evening that it certainly wasn't a bother. This place is loud and full of fried food. Be prepared for a laid back atmosphere! Our bride opted for us to simply order off the regular menu - it wasn't limited or pre-set in any way. We were spoiled! Our table decided to order a bunch of appetizers to share and we had a great time. I think my favorites were the smoked wings (amazing smoky flavor and crunch on the outside) and the loaded tots (the beer cheese and bacon!!). The loaded nachos and cheeseballs were good, too. But I will say that I expected the nachos to have a bit more BBQ pork and the highlight of the cheeseballs was actually the dipping sauce (which quickly became too spicy for me). While I heard that the calamari was too chewy, I heard the pretzels were a favorite. read more

Don't order a real drink here. Over priced. $20 for the amount of red breast 12 year poured in the picture. I told the bar tender "I can get a whole bottle for less than twice as much as this drink," and their response was "that's a 1.5 oz pour, it's a $60 bottle" and moved on to the only other person at the bar on a Friday night. It's in a pretty good location with multiple entrances - we were waiting for an open spot at the speakeasy down the street and stopped here for some drinks. There was a party downstairs so we went to the upper area bar and it was a great looking space (I like places with high ceilings, makes me feel like I'm a princess in a castle). They had a live band playing when we got there but that turned into karaoke halfway through our drinks. Our bartender was super attentive and friendly, she was trying to get us to do karaoke but I wasn't drunk enough to take that step so instead she kept making us awesome drinks. My first visit to Patrick O'Shea's was for lunch and some beer with the husband on a weekday before Christmas. The atmosphere is kind of dark but that's OK; it's a pub, after all. They have a bunch of beers on tap as well as the standards in bottles. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were so friendly and knowledgeable about the offerings on tap. I ordered the Dublin Club with turkey, pepper jack, bacon, and rosemary mayo. I also got a side of fries with extra rosemary mayo for dippin'. The sandwich was really good but those fries were awesome! They were perfectly crispy, thin, and salty. It's a little bit pricey because everything is a la carte. I don't know if we'll be back because we're not really close to the area but I wouldn't hesitate to stop in again! read more

A group of about a dozen first responders came in and a handful were cops. My gf overheard the two servers and bartender tell the manager they weren't going to serve them. I couldn't hear it but I could tell she was flat out pissed off. We left but thanked them for their service bc that's how we are. Won't be back. I really like the Whiskey Row area, Ate lunch here with my kids. We set out on patio & lots of construction going on around us, But nothing to bother you. Really cool old building & bar area. One of the few places downtown open in a Monday for lunch. Good device & friendly people. Night life is also good. read more
