Patrick's Pub was such a great find during my time in Salt Lake City. I was in town on a business trip, and this ended up being the perfect place to unwind at the end of the day. From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel welcome. Everyone--from the greeter to the bartenders--was friendly, relaxed, and genuinely attentive. It's one of those pubs where you instantly feel like a local, even if it's your first visit. The space itself is cozy and comfortable, exactly what you want from a neighborhood pub. One of the highlights for me was the sports setup. On several nights I was there, they had hockey games on three TVs above the bar, which is surprisingly rare--and very much appreciated since I'm a big hockey fan. Other nights they had football and baseball on, so there was always something good to watch. Coming from LA, the drink prices felt amazing. After spending a little more time in the area, I realized they're actually better priced than many places nearby--so it's a win all around. Another bonus: they have real pinball machines, which is another personal favorite and a nice nostalgic touch. All in all, Patrick's Pub checks every box--great people, good vibes, solid drinks, sports, and pinball. It's a winner in my book, and I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town. read more

When we went to close out (keep in mind we were nice enough to do one tab for 6 people) he told me to "get out of his money making space" as I was signing the check. I'm visiting from out of state .. entered the bar Had our ID's checked. Ordered and was enjoying an IPA with a friend on the patio I asked the bartender if I could smoke outside he said I need to go on other side of the railing. .. no problem. Well I'm little enough to slide through the railing to the sidewalk, so I did. Upon sliding back a loud man on a skateboard started yelling at me to leave the bar and I was out of there. I was so shocked I asked him if he worked here and he said he was coming to work and I had to leave now!! I had jumped the rail and I HAD TO LEAVE RIGHT NOW !! He was so rude and loud and spitting venom at me. We got up to leave and I heard him tell the bartender that served us that I had to go. "our" bartender told him I was a customer already. I told the guy he was really rude and he said I was rude and I should be an adult and use the door. I said he was rude and that I was a guest here and he told me I was not a guest and that I had to go and bye bye !!! I have never been talked to or treated that way in my entire life !! I left there crying. He was super aggressive with me and it was so uncalled for. This person should never be in the customer service industry. He's awful !! read more

Place use to be the shit until this oddly built shorter man serving the bar absolutely ruined the vibes at this place. As soon as you walk in he will likely scream at you to wait at the door to scan your ID (as if it wasn't a law that went in a month ago). That same bartender looks like he was assembled out of leftover Lego pieces with no instructions. Buddy is built like a fire hydrant that learned how to pour drinks and yet still has an attitude. The kind of guy who memorized drink specs just so he could correct people and feel powerful for 12 seconds. Built like he personally tests every IPA for "quality control" and still somehow acts judgmental about your order. Alright no more fat jokes. But you can just see how badly buddy needs it. The beer belly pressed against the counter like a throne (oops) arms crossed, chin up, just waiting for someone to step out of line so he can flex his sacred power. Power-trips like a dollar-store Donald Trump: loud, fragile ego, convinced authority equals respect. Pressed to the bar like it's a podium, talking down to everyone as if cutting someone off is an executive order. Give him a bar top and suddenly he's a god damn tyrant. Here is my first review of this establishment: (And I have since found out that the ONLY bartender that this particular review applies to, and was initially intended to be directed to, is only to the owner, specifically, Bryce Adams.) "Sad to say that one of the bartenders here needs a different job than the one that he has. VERY impolite to the patrons that enter the establishment, and that is bad for business, or repeat business. Don't be surprised when you come here, if you get an attitude from (Bryce) the bartender. Dude needs an attitude adjustment, (May I also add: psychological counseling? Meds?) or go flip burgers somewhere. Any job that does not involve working with customers. God bless." Money doesn't just come out of thin air, Sir. Money that makes up your paycheck, and the paychecks of your employees, is brought in through the door, on foot, from the customers that enter your establishment. You have an obligation, especially as a business OWNER, to treat these people that walk through your door and into your place of business with respect and a modicum of patience. In fact, you should be setting the example, as the owner, to your crew of employees, which happen to all seem to be the ones setting the example for you as a whole. Your whole crew of employees, so far as I have seen, are worth their weight in GOLD, so far, every single one of them... Very polite and respectful, easy to talk to and approach, and they seem to all enjoy working there, and dealing with customers effectively, efficiently and politely. When I last had my in-person chat with you, and you told me to leave, I went over to my normal hang out place, where I have been going for years, and never ever had a problem. I asked one bartender there if they knew you, which he said yes, and also agreed that you have a very hard time communicating politely with people. Now... Is that HIS problem? Or is that MY problem? I was genuinely shocked that my ID was not in my wallet, and was trying to mentally take some time and retrace what happened, so I could find it again. (Nobody is perfect, sorry.) For some reason you thought I was "staring you down", which I had no ill intentions to do so. I hoped that you would recognize me from the day before, and give me a chance to find my ID for later. I thought I was able to ask you if you recognized me from yesterday, (maybe not?) but then the whole situation went sideways for you I guess... A better option than what you said, would have been to tell me: "Sir, I see hundreds of people a day. I can't remember all of them, so I can't let you stay here without showing me your ID", and the whole matter would have never been an issue. You could have handled the issue better is all I am saying, which also points to the other bad reviews, which say basically the same thing, and which I am sure that you own all by yourself. I just don't see ANY of your other crew being rude to ANYone that walks through the door. Any business reviews by customers, are to let other potential customers know about a good business, or a bad business, without any bias from the owners or employees of that business. If you keep the same attitude, Bryce, and keep treating people like the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld, you are going to keep getting bad reviews! You make your own fate. Nobody makes your own fate, but you. And a little ending point of advice, if I may? A lot of my friends go to your bar. We go as a group all over the city. Our industry wears black clothes (just as a visual tip). In the future, you in particular might want to be extra polite to anyone in all black, especially if you want to keep our business. We talk about our experiences, good and bad. Finished hiking today and came into the city just to get some food. Bartender told us we can't walk in with our water bottles and that he has to hold them. We understood but my brother wanted to sit in and have a beer since I don't drink I mentioned I wasn't drinking and the bartender mentions "you need your ID welcome to Utah "do your research before walking in". Again I understand policy and I have a business of my own but I guess they don't encounter to many Hispanics people at this place. My crew and I went there at 10:00pm. Bartender was not graceful!!! Trying to order a drink was like trying to ask a person how stupid you are!! I have been in a lot of bars with much better customer service. This was the worst!! It was like talking to a brick wall. Yelps says they are suppose to stay open till 2am. But nope.. the sooner the bartender can kick you out the better so he can go home. Last call was for us was 11:59am. If your looking for a bar that cares about your feelings this isn't the place. On a busy night it takes time to be served, however if you don't mind not being the center of the universe for a minute you'll get exactly what you need. The staff can be a bit harsh if you think your above everyone else. Other than that it's a great place to get a few drinks before starting your night or a few drinks to end the night. The biggest issue I've seen is people feeling entitled and getting butthurt realizing their not that special. I love this place and will continue to support the business. read more

After chatting for a few minutes we decided it was not the place to spend the night (the music was quiet and sad, the place reeked of smoke). We headed out back to the bar we were previously at. Walked in there on a Saturday night for a beer, the place smelled AWFUL and was incredibly dirty, I kind of wonder when was the last time anything in that bar was cleaned. I've been here a couple of times and I can't say I've had a good time yet. Bartenders are very hostile and belittling. The gentleman who took care of us had a nametag on that read "fookin tuf" and I think he should change it to "fookin rude". If you're not a local who has been there dozens of times and has a personal relationship with the bartender, don't even bother. This place is horrible... I came here with two of my guy friends and.... I don't remember what I was saying because I only have air between my ears. No, so we walked into this establishment off of the street and had no idea what we were getting into. This place is awesome. The most "Irish, non Irish pub" you can be in. Good people, regulars are welcoming and have great stories. You can't beat the price...well, for Utah. Not a great experience what so ever. Went into the bar to wait for a friend who had gone inside to go to the bathroom. She bought a beer in the process. Told the bartender we were just waiting, he asked for our Id's, understandable. Not a problem. I know how strict Utah is. Gave him our Id's and in the process another bartender said "just kick them out". Not impressed. A simple "sorry, you'll have to wait outside" would have been completely fine. Not that hard to be nice to customers who are also friendly. I now understand why there were only 2 people in Patrick's and a long line for the Lake Effect right next door. Cool little bar. Has a restraint next door for food. The bar it's self is slender and has a couple tables in the back. I tho k I saw a pinball game back there too but I don't think it was on. Two restrooms both unisex. Very clean. The bartender's name was Bryce. Entertaining us. As my friend and myself were the only ones at the bar for the most part. The drinks are reasonably priced for Utah. Since you can't have full strength cocktails in Utah. They have a wine selection. Me being the type who likes sweet wine was a little disappointed they didn't have any mascatos but oh well. read more

Unpretentious and well stocked, with a bartender who will provide a sample of some of the stranger sounding draft offerings before you commit to say... cucumber IPA. If you live in SLC or visit the city, visit Patrick's.I visited when I was in SLC for a conference. In my native L.A., CA, I visit many bars, but the only bars I frequent are good bars. Patrick's Pub has everything I look for, mostly a solid staff. After that first night, I returned every night thereafter, same great spot, same outstanding staff. Top five bars I've ever visited. I like this place. If you're looking for an old fashioned bar to catch some drinks and actually hear what your friends are saying, this is a great spot. The staff is really friendly and prompt with your order. The selection of booze is pretty decent. I would give zero stars if I could. If you want an Irish bar, MURPHY's is right around the corner, and PIPER DOWN is worth the extra distance!!!! I have never been treated so poorly as a patron of an establishment in my life, even abroad. The bartender swore at us several times and told us to "get the f*** out" repeatedly, I am not sure why. We tipped generously (even though not tipping well is no excuse for the way we were treated) and we had several drinks. I have certainly had subpar service in the past, but I have NEVER had someone in the service industry curse at me and my group. No wonder there were only 10 people in this bar on a Saturday night with several events going on downtown. I worked as a waiter for over 15 years and I have never seen such bad behavior, especially from someone who I believe to be the owner of that bar. GO TO MURPHY'S OR PIPER DOWN! read more
