The people are Patriot Subaru are nice, but they were dishonest. I brought my 2016 Subaru in a year ago for a regular service and I was told that I would need new brakes within the year. I found this odd because I had gotten new brakes 2 months (and about 1000 miles) before. However, I just had my brakes checked by two local mechanics (one being my brother) and they said my brakes were in good shape and wouldn't need replacing anytime soon. In fact, they said the brakes were in better shape than what Patriot Subaru reported they were last year. If I had listened to Patriot Subaru, I would have spent $900+ on something I didn't need. The people there are nice, but they're typical dealership sales people who will find something "wrong" with your car. read more

I traded my 2017 Subaru Impreza sport for a 2018 jeep charokee trailhawk. I got jipped on my trade-in value, which was to be expected (bc car dealers will be car dealers); but I made sure I was getting put into a safe vehicle by asking the right questions. I was told I had new tires, full fluids, everything was working and running great, and that I'd have no trouble with this vehicle. Well... in the first week, I realized my rear windshield wiper didn't work. -Brought it in to get it fixed. check. (wasted gas, and time) Second week. My gas cover falls off because it was SUPER GLUED on. maybe not their fault... but it's just one more thing I had to fix on MY new-to-me vehicle. Third week, my transmission light came on bc it was overheating. So I checked my fluids and I had almost NO antifreeze. so I filled it up, FULL. Checked it after about a week and a half, and it needed quite a bit more; so I immediately called to get it checked out. Turns out there was a crack in the radiator near the seal, AND a hole in it. HERES THE KICKER- because I was passed the 4 week window if the used-car warranty, it was MY responsibility to pay for it. (how was I supposed to know it was a serious problem without first testing the antifreeze theory? this process takes time.) I made sure they knew I would not be happy if I had to pay for this, so they gave me "employee pricing..." - but eff that. That wasn't enough, so of course I complained, because theres NO WAY they didn't realize this problem during their inspection upon putting it up for sale in the lot... so they knocked it down to $100. 8 weeks after purchase, I take it in for an alignment so I could make sure to savor my "nice new tires" and they were SO worn on the inside that my mechanic couldn't even rotate them front to back bc it would have caused a major vibration while driving. And, at this same appointment, I learned that my front brakes will need to be replaced asap, and my rear rotors are completely JUNK!!! My first time buying a car here, I bought a brand new Subaru. I made out well with this vehicle because it was BRAND NEW... but I needed a bigger vehicle for work. Unfortunately, I don't like Subaru suv's so I got this jeep; and apparently bc it's a jeep; it's "not their problem" that they sold me a piece of sh*t. I will NEVER buy a vehicle from this dealership ever again; and I will be sure to make sure my friends and family don't either. Friggen SCUMBAGS. read more

I hate car shopping. I hate the games that come with it. The "whoever talks first loses" game. The "happy wife, happy life" game. The "you tell us what your absolute bottom dollar is, and I'll 'talk to my manager'" game. The "let me, the salesman, tell you, the buyer, what kind of car you want to buy" game. We had to play them all the other night we were at Patriot Subaru. Let's talk about the good: + It's a very clean, warm, inviting dealership. I loved all the seating areas, the abundance of plants (which they're very, very proud of themselves), the access to computers when you need to get work done but are stuck having your car repaired, the complimentary coffee, etc. + Dave, the manager, seemed friendly and helpful. He was entirely understanding and lovely with us when we chose to forgo purchasing anything. + Subaru's are amazing vehicles. Let's talk about the not so good: - Maybe this is overly sensitive, but... our salesman simply assumed we were married when we walked in, so in their system (and every piece of paper they printed out for us during the duration of our visit) we were listed as X and X SameLastName. This really frustrated me and, I gotta admit, seemed a little sexist. You don't know if we're married, and even if we were what if I hadn't taken his last name? I mean, listen, if you're gonna ask invasive and personal questions to find out what kind of car will fit our needs, lifestyle, and financial situation (which I get is totally necessary)... maybe take the time to ask me what my last name is, too. - When we realized that leasing a new car wasn't going to work for us, we started asking about used car options. Uncomfortably, the car salesman pushed and pushed and pushed back explaining that it was a much better option than buying used because blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Once he realized he wasn't going to get us into a new vehicle, he became disinterested and disengaged. On test drives of vehicles afterwards, he basically pouted in the back seat and only spoke when we had pulled back into the dealership. "What'd you think?" We'd tell him it was okay and he'd mumble something about just taking the keys back. In all fairness, we were there for nearly three hours, so maybe he was just getting tired? Maybe he had had a long day? Regardless, it got more and more awkward feeling. - The salesman also called us days later to ask us what kind of quote we were getting from another dealership. We explained we had no idea what he was talking about because we hadn't been anywhere else (honestly we hadn't). Patronizingly, he pushed us asking for the info until he eventually realized.... Whoops!... He had had the wrong person. Totally unprofessional. read more

Bought an outback here for $10k with 100k miles. Had to put in quite a bit of service in the past 2 years, all at the dealership, never a good deal, but I figured I'd try loyalty. 3 months ago I paid 1500 for a transmission repair on the car after getting a CEL code. The 1500 did not fix the problem code, and I told the service folks. Now it appears they missed a bulletin about my problem and I need a new tranny. They quoted me a used tranny for $2k. So looks like $15k lasts for only 60k. Still paying it off. You would think that the dealership would know more about these cars. Also the kicker- Sales guy all over me to buy another car there after he finds out my situation! No thanks read more

I was there this weekend to just look around. Well I came home with a new subaru. I have been a subaru fan for a very long time but I usually hate the car buying experience. I found the dealership to be large, clean and an all around pleasant atmosphere. The selection of subaru's to Choose from was great. The associates were absolutely wonderful, friendly people who were by no means pushy sales people. The pricing on their cars and life time warranty are beyond amazing. Even though the lease was done in MA and is what I ended up doing, buying myself out of the lease, the team were pleasant to work with. The best service I've ever had at a car dealership by far! I leased a new Impreza in November and from start to finish this place was head and shoulders above other dealers I visited in the area. Everyone there is so wonderful! I usually feel preyed on when shopping for a vehicle, but I was pleasantly surprised at Patriot. I was able to look around without being approached until I actually wanted more information. My salesperson, Matt was incredibly knowledgeable and helped me come to my decision without an ounce of coercion! I don't normally know much about cars, but I left feeling informed and almost like part of the family. Also, I went in for my first service appointment today and I must say, it felt like I was at NASCAR or something! I pulled in, checked in, and was seated in the waiting area in seconds. I took my car in just over a yr. ago bec. I thought the battery they had replaced was causing problems. I explained those problems--dashboard lights going on and off with no reason, a rear view window heater that went on without reason and would not shut off. I don't know if it was bec. I said I thought it was the battery or if they thought I was just a nutty old lady who drove 40 miles to make a baseless complaint but they sent me home after several hrs. saying there was nothing wrong. The dashboard lit up like a pinball machine on the way home & the next day I took it to the local garage. It took almost no time for him to find the problem, an electrical problem that was very obvious according to my mechanic. He spotted it by picking up the cover on the fuse box. read more

Went for an Express Oil Change on a Monday morning. Was met by Adam who advised me the "express" oil change would take about 90 minutes. After waiting over 2 hours, I went to Adam and asked how the service was going. He told me my car would be ready in 15 minutes. I waited another hour when my car was finally completed. This is not my idea of Express, nor is it good customer relations. They obviously don't care about time constraints their customers may have, only to get the customer in and get their money. I have no confidence in Patriot Subaru nor will I return. read more

Patriot Subaru has been my dealership for about eight years now and I've been extremely loyal to them, having all of my service work done there over the life of my car. Over the last year or so, I've noticed a significant change however. And the last visit was definitely my last visit. I took my car in for some very light work (lube, oil & filter) and mentioned to the service manager that my radio had conked out. It was acting like it had detached from the antenna. Simple stuff. Easy to recognize, don't know how easy to fix. After reviewing, the technician came out and said the radio was fine, no problem. I said I didn't think so, but he insisted no problem. Switching gears, he then tried to encourage me to work on some other issues he found and began listing a number of things that he said I needed. I said thank you and said I'd take care of them at another time. Pulling out of the dealership, my radio wasn't working and I drove right to another authorized Subaru mechanic who explained that the other issues addressed didn't need fixing. "Easy work, high return." That's it for Patriot for me. Sorry but I can't in good faith recommend this shop to anyone. read more

These guys are the epitome of Car Sales men but will spend the entire time telling you that they aren't car sales men, they are all so honest and caring, but they are snakes. We went to buy a car here that hadn't arrived, went through the price and then they mentioned extra x, y and z. We asked for all the info and pricing which they didn't have but seeing as the car wasn't in stock for a few weeks, they could get it to us before we came in and signed. We followed up several times, wanting to know simply, what the extras were and what the cost was. Every-time they avoided providing the info. Then we go to get the car and now there are a bunch of extra fees that were never mentioned, and all the extra charges finally disclosed and we have to decide then and there or pay extra to sign up later. Total snake tactics. Don't trust these guys at all. read more

Matt was my salesman, nice guy. His favorite saying is "there's an a*s for every seat." I looked at the possible options for my budget, what was available at 3 other dealers and settled on what I could live with and they met me half way for both the selling price and my trade in. Not a lot of anguish, just some as it is with all transactions, its a process, the more you know, the better off you are. Do your homework and look at the market for what you are looking for and what is coming down the path. 2016 is a good year to trade vehicles as there are many leases coming off/out so there are many options out there. No longer a shortage of options as it was in the past 3 years. Good luck. There is no Zero stars!!! I don't usually complain about places, and as a ref I'm used to people yelling at me, but I have never been treated as rudely as I was at Patriot Subaru in Saco. I was trying to negotiate a deal with them, but got a better offer elsewhere. They wouldn't match my price and tried to refuse to give me back my deposit. I signed no contract with them and was with within my rights to change my mind less than 24 hours later. They then proceeded for a half an hour to call me names, swear at me and tell me I wasn't a man of my honor. They told me that my money (which is a big amount of money to me) was theirs because they earned it in talking to me. I understand people work on commission, but they did not need to act the way they did. After being yelled at by the staff there for half an hour, they finally gave me back my money and told me that they "didn't want customers like me." It was unprofessional and awful. What a horrible experience. I just wanted to share in case you are planning on shopping there. They never even apologized for this terrible behavior. read more

I showed up at the service department without an appointment, after dropping a ring in my car and watching it disappear behind the driver's seat support. Alex Dargi had me pull my car in and tried to figure out how to get to the ring. He then got Paul Hall, the service manager, to assist and they decided they'd have to pull the driver's seat out. With some assistance from Benen Davenport, they got the seat out and found the ring! I can't thank them enough for going way beyond for me. It was a first for all of us, having to retrieve a ring from under a seat support but now they're all set for the next clumsy person! We went in with what we needed to make a deal happy in mind, the sales manager made it happen. The sales team was great, we mostly dealt with Adam, who was genuine and extremely helpful. We were there well past closing finishing everything up and I never felt as though there was a rush or that we should just come back in the morning. I have had some less than settling experiences at both the dealership and the service department, so I was surprised when I called around and found they had the lowest price for some routine maintenance of my (100k) 2008 Legacy. While I was there, the service manager made it a point to check for anything outstanding through Subaru, and also investigated an exhaust leak I had been hearing. When it turned out to be covered under warranty (at 100k!? What!?), he also arranged to have a non warrantied cover replaced as well. I also felt Wayne was very honest with helping me prioritize upcoming maintenance needs. Do not finance a vehicle through Patriot Subaru in Saco, Maine. I leased my 2010 Subaru Outback and they financed the vehicle through Chase. What a disaster!!! Chase has been terrible to deal with since day one. When my lease was up I wanted to buy the car outright. I called Patriot and they told me to come down to fill out the paperwork. When I got there they sent me packing because they realized I wasn't going to finance the car but buy it outright, therefore they weren't going to make any money. So they put me in touch with Chase (Subaru Motors Finance) directly. I filled out all the necessary paperwork, odometer reading, etc. sent them a check for the buyout (close to $15,000.00). Well, Chase kept the money and I still, close 50 days later, don't have a title. Yes, I called Patriot Subaru as they were the ones that assisted me financing the vehicle. Have I heard from the since? NO I would strongly advise that you do not finance a vehicle through Patriot Subaru in Saco, Maine. read more

I initially contacted the dealership through an internet search and was in contact with Jackie Parker who is in charge of internet sales. I knew the car I wanted and made an appointment to test drive. I was disappointed when I arrived to find that the car was not in a condition to be test driven and that I would have to return to drive it. I was able to see the car and let the salesman know that the scratches on the car would need to be fixed if I were to purchase the car. Unfortunately, as the process progressed the brunt of communication was left to me to reach out to the salesmen. While the repairs took longer than they should have, they were finally done and I could pick up my car. Before doing so, I sent an email to Jackie to let her know that my interactions with the two salesmen I had been dealing with were less than ideal. My experience with her was positive and I had hoped for the same from all the staff but was disappointed to have less than positive communications with others. I noted at least two comments were made to or about me by the salesmen that were sexist in nature and derogatory. When I picked up my car, to my surprise, I was verbally assaulted by the sales manager, Lonny Martin who had apparently read my email intended for Jackie. He proceeded to berate me and told me to "get over the women's lib crap" and to "just take your keys". Needless to say, I was astounded to be spoken to in such a hostile manner from someone who is in customer service. I would never purchase a vehicle from them, get service there or recommend anyone else to. This was certainly the most expensive and disappointing interaction I have ever had with someone in the service industry. After sharing my experience with coworkers, I learned that I am not the only person to have had this type of experience and disappointed that this type of salesperson is allowed to continue treating people in such a negative and unprofessional manner. read more

I was on vacation this fall in the OOB area and looking for a new car. Walked into the dealer wearing flip-flops and cargo shorts and was treated like crap. I inquired about driving one of their WRX STi's on the lot. The salesman looked me up and down, laughed and said, "We don't let people test drive those....they are high performance vehicles..." I asked him how they ever sold any if they didn't allow test drives? He said he would let me drive a stripped model. I laughed and walked out. I bought a BMW 335ix a few days later for considerably more $$ than the Subaru. I'm amazed these guys sell any cars. It's not like I'm a youngster. I'm 50 years old and told them I wanted to buy ASAP. You can't even make them sell you a car these days. Sales must be REALLY good to spurn customers apparently. This was my only exposure to Subaru sales and I was not impressed. They are a quirky dealer for sure. read more
