I really enjoyed my first meal here. It is one of my top 3 Mexican style restaurants in the Bothell area. The salsa was flavorful and spicy. The Mexican rice was mild, soft and not acidic. The refried beans were very good. Carne asada was a little overdone, but very tasty. The house margarita did not disappoint. The shrimp diabla was tasty but made me sweat a little due to spice. Mushrooms in the Diablo sauce were delicious. Service was top notch. Sat right away, drinks within 5 minutes and food within 20 minutes. Hand made corn tortillas were soft and a little under done. They could have used a little more salt. The texture was superb. Overall a five star dinner. My wife agrees. read more

Food was ok. Service friendly. Music was a bit loud. I liked their chips, they were nice and crispy. Salsa had a tiny bite to it in spice. I like super hot salsas, so we asked for their hottest. It was chipotle based, but still not hot enough for me, but that's just my own personal preference. Food was very typical Mexican food, big plates with rice and beans to accompany your dish, which for me is a total let down because I want elevated Mexican food. Holy cow. If they keep up this level of cooking, I may have a new hang out. Patrona's recently opened up in the north Bothell area, near the pancake house. I wasn't excited when passing by before they opened because it's in a rather small strip mall. I figured it wouldn't be anything of note. WRONG! I stopped in for my Friday lunch. The restaurant itself may not boast dozens of tables, but in time I'm sure it will be standing room only. I ordered a Cadillac margarita and it was perfect (even if it was served in a beer glass ... what's up with that?!) Regardless, it was tasty without being in-your-face tart. I received the standard chips and salsa to start; warm, salty chips and the salsa was fresh and not too hot. Good start. I ordered steak fajitas. They were delivered on a very hot plate (the wood carrier was burned from the heat of the cast iron skillet) with hot tortillas ... so hot, I had a hard time holding them. On a separate plate was the standard refried beans with cheese and tomato-based Mexican rice. At least the beans weren't runny, and they did have a good flavor to them. The fajitas were the star of the show. The beef was a good cut, and charred outside with pink in the middle. When I say charred, it's almost as if the meat was cooked on a very hot flame ... the meat looked to be marinated and then the marinate caught the flame. I very much appreciated the char especially seeing the pink on the inside. It was so delicious and a very hefty portion was served. I brought half of it home and had it for dinner without even reheating it, it was that tasty. The beans were good and I finished them all. I didn't even touch the rice, I just don't like it. I'm still looking for the elusive side to a Mexican entree that isn't beans and rice. But I digress. I absolutely suggest that you give Patrona's a try. Best Mexican restaurant in the Mill Creek area. Location is convenient with easy parking. Comfortable atmosphere and great service. The food is absolutely delicious and serving size is generous. Everything about the dining experience is to notch. I had the carnitas fajitas and the vegetables were perfectly cooked and meat was tender and tasty. My husband had the Chile Colorado and our son had the chicken quesadilla. Everyone was more than satisfied with their meals and we all had some leftovers to take home. read more

Ended up here while looking for a place for dinner after 9. The pictures from this place looked nice and hence we decided to hit it. Since it was a weekday there was not much of a vibe very few people. Plenty of parking since it is in suburb areas. We ate inside since it was cold, however generally they seem to have outdoor experience as well. We ordered veg Fajitas and their signature chicken tacos. It took 20-25 mins for the food to arrive, however they served complimentary house-made fresh nachos and salsa. Salsa was spicy and delicious, server was really nice they refilled the Salsa without even asking. The serving size was really big, hard to finish for one person. So please loosen your belly belts if you are planning to order a full plate for yourself. I would say, sharing could be good idea. It seemed to be on little pricy end, but given the sizes wasnt too pricy. The food was very delicious and filling, we were overfull with some handover when we left. I Would definitely visit again. As a frequent diner I was rather upset at our last visit. Our wait staff was not good. All table had silverware except the one we were put in. Great little Mexican place for Bothell. As you might see on other reviews, the portions are huge on every dish, hence the seemingly high price. I would plan on an appetizer, chips, and one entree for two if you didn't want to bring leftovers home. The margaritas are good, you should ask for the "secret" margarita. It is also huge, blue, sweet, and very boozy. Off of one visit I can't speak for all the items, but the steak fajitas and the chicken mole were really good. The mole had a nice spicy kick to it, the sauce wasn't just diluted chocolate. The fajita steak was buttery and tender, prepared very well. Our waiter was very attentive and we were never without chips and salsa. Overall, I can tell the chefs use good quality ingredients and have some great recipes to boot. I have been here a few times with service meeting general standards but today, the host was completely rude. He didn't greet us, talk to us or say a word to us. He asked for an item and he said he didn't speak English. Later on we saw him Soeaking English to other clients. I don't know what his problem was but he was very cold towards us. I had a good meal with not great service. I walked in, was not seated. I seated myself and was not acknowledged. Restaurant wasn't bust but only 2 servers in diningroom, one male and one female. I understand underststaffing. Eventually one came back from break. I watched a guest be told no when he ask if he could do a carry out order by the male employee. The two female servers were pleasant and welcoming the male was not. Since the female servers helped me most, my tip reflected their help, not his. He genuinely acted annoyed to be here or worse annoyed to be bothered. I hope this was a fluke because their food was great. 3rd time here. Good food overshadowed by one unfriendly server. It hasn't taken long for the neighborhood to realize how amazing this place is. We're showing up once a week. Already gets packed at dinnertime. Come early or late to secure a table without waiting. There's a bar area with TVs for sports. Our favorite dishes: tacos al carbon, pork chili verde, tortilla soup, chicken mole. Excellent salsa and pico de gallo. Large selection of margaritas. Patrona is hit or miss at any time of day. When they first opened, they were amazing. Great prices and huge platters of food. Now you take the risk of getting cold food, an incorrect order or just dismal service. One bright spot is their Cadillac Margaritas are HUGE and damn good. Chicken Burrito: sopping wet (so wet it leaked through the bag), flavor is fine but the tortilla became way too soggy Bean burrito: no complaints from my kiddo Chips: ok, not amazing. Very thin, break easily. Salsa: tastes like canned tomatoes as a base -- roasted tomatoes would make it way better Corn tortillas: really good! Their service is impeccable and their food is off the chart, delicious. One plate to be shared by two people. It's perfect place for date night and the drinks are delicious. I finally gave Patrona a try. I was really hoping to have another decent Mexican restaurant close by instead of only Azul or the local trucks. Growing up in California, I'm very familiar with good Mexican cuisine. Unfortunately, this place drops the bar. The chips were stale. The salsa is lacking. And ugh, the meal was actually inedible. I politely boxed it up, but I don't even think I'll eat it at home. They cheap out using tilapia for their fish tacos instead of cod and don't even fry it to mask the bottom feeder flavor. There was no sauce on the tacos or even a lime wedge on the plate. It was just a bland piece of bottom feeder fish, with cabbage and avocado. So disappointing. I definitely won't be back. read more

Best Mexican food I've found up here. Deserves 4.3 probably. Not everything is up to my "different to please " standards as far as Mexican is concerned (since I've been spoiled by the great Mexican food in ca) but overall the best in the area I've been to in 6 months up here. Only drawbacks are: -for some reason it taste better eating in then getting to go from my limited experiences tho -wasn't big on the carnitas (have had better) -wish they had a menu of small items instead of buying essential the food dish portion of two meals for twice the price! I really really wanted to love this place - ordered the mole chicken. Overall it was delicious, but some of the chicken was waaay over cooked and tough. And worse (why I'm leaving 1 star) - I bit down on a small rock that was in my food (specifically the mole, not the sides). There were 2 pieces, and just shocking! Totally not ok!!!! Don't know how that got there, or what was happening in the kitchen for something like that to occur - but the restaurant has got to be more diligent! I've included a pic below. I don't usually recommend Mexican restaurants but this one is definitely worth a visit. I went for the first time with a large group on a Saturday evening and the service was amazing. I ordered a mar y Tierra and the carne asada was cooked perfectly. Everything was seasoned generously. The music was not playing when we first sat down which made the conversations sound louder but they turned it on pretty quickly afterwards. Favorite new spot for yummy beans and rice and excellent carnitas. Margaritas are great. Prices are a little higher then what you may be used to, but they give you a feast and the food delivers. Good food. Truly delicious! But last several times there's been so many issues. This time an entire meal is missing from takeout and they wouldn't refund us when we asked because they were busy and didn't have time. Then they call us back and now we have to call Uber since we ordered from there. Now we have to do work by calling and sorting this out AND we didn't receive our dinner. Great. Last time we had to wait 45mins-1hr bc our takeout was super late. Terrible service but good food. We kept trying to give them chances but this is it-- no more.
