Well...sadly this trip to Patsys was not as good as the last two. I think perhaps my 5 star was a bit overzealous. I do love a greasy spoon type diner, one where the menu is plentiful, as it is here, and the food tastes homemade. However this time our food orders were just okay, the eggs and bacon overcooked, the house biscuits were stale. Our silverware was missing, and I had to motion to our waitress to refill our coffee every time. I know places sometimes have off days, but a five star experience shouldn't. Service was good. They only had one waitress and man could she keep up. Food was ok. I ordered the red chilaquiles. Honestly I did not like them. The amount of cheese on that was insane. Hispanics knows when you add Monterrey, yellow or marble cheese to a plate it takes away the authenticity. Well, at least that's my opinion. I can do without the canned refried beans too. Outstanding food, outstanding service. My husband and I have been looking for a new breakfast/brunch/lunch spot in Temecula and have driven by Patsy's a thousand times. Finally stopped in yesterday and I'm so glad we did. It looks like a cute little southern kitchen inside, and although it's not a huge restaurant--the menu sure is! They had so many great breakfast and lunch options. I got the Mexican skillet with chorizo and a banana nut pancake--absolutely DELICIOUS and very fresh! My husband got the Chile Verde Omelette with a massive side of biscuits and gravy and he loved it. The portions are perfectly sized and the pricing is great. We ate everything on our plates. The service was also excellent. Our drinks were kept refilled at all times and we had several waitresses stop to check in on us and make sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The restaurant is frequented mostly by locals who know each other and the staff is super friendly. The food portions are decent and the customer service is top notch. It took me a while to make a determination on my take on the food. The food was ok, not terrible and not bad. What really sold me was the great customer service and the sense of community. Drove down to grab brunch at Mo's Egg House but they were closed due to kitchen problems. I spotted Patsy's Country Kitchen across the street and decided to give it a try. This restaurant has a homey feel and serves good American country food. I opted for the Country Fried Steak which came with a side of pancake and hash browns. I ordered my hash browns extra crispy and they came out perfectly delicious. Servers here are friendly and attentive. They are dog friendly here which is a huge plus for me! I'm always on the lookout for dog friendly restaurants and I'm happy that this is another that I can add to my list. We sat outside on their outdoor patio area which is shaded and comfortable. Wow! I don't know why I never tried this restaurant until recently. It was an early Saturday, like 7:00. I was hungry from just returning from the airport. Patsy's was open, so I thought I'd give it a try. The friendly waitress greeted me with a large hot coffee, just what I needed. The place was clean, had a nice homey atmosphere . I wasn't starving but I needed to eat, so she suggested the half biscuits and gravy plate with two eggs. When I got my plate,, it was gigantic! So much was left that I took most of it home for the next day. The sausage gravy was creamy and full of sausage, the biscuits were old fashioned and moist, full of flavor. Staff was so nice and the sweet tea tasted like it was from the south. We sat near the kitchen so we got to see the food coming out. Everything looked so good. We can't wait to go back. Only walked into the restaurant a server directed us to seat ourselves at any open table with a good distance from others dining. They did offer indoor dining and answer the phone quickly when I asked about it. The first server we saw did have a mask on properly however our sever at our table wore her mask beneath her nose, wearing it improperly. I noticed the table I found that we weren't given enough napkins so I kept on asking for more. I ordered grits even though I read to the reviews and a lot of them said that they were hard as cement, they were thick and I could tell the water was not seasoned prior to pouring the uncooked grits into boiling water. We ordered Biscuits & Gravy, a side of Bacon, Sourdough Bread, Grits topped with shredded Cheddar Cheese, and Chilaquiles. The food wasn't very delicious and I would not have it again. It was quite bland, lacking the element of freshness or wide variety of options that looked yummy at the moment of ordering. Kamiyah or Kamea was our server, to wear her mask beneath her nose and was not following COVID guidelines. I was a bit nervous when I had read on Yelp that the tables were not wiped down very well. We split an omlette and it was still rather large for one-AND we added a pancake-since we split the omlette-we each got TWO pancakes. WOW! Really good. The omlette was perfect-not greasy and contained a delish variety of nice fresh veggies. We had iced tea as it was hot and the tea was reslly refreshing-not bitter. Regular customers recommended the hot sausage and mexican dishes. They said they return often for these. Summary Patsy's is not first on the YELP list but it is on mine thanks to the attentive first class service and large portions/great food.
