This is my sole method of transportation for me and my kids, so I'm extremely grateful!! I've taken my 08 Honda Accord to them over the years for many things such as an alternator swap, struts/sway bar links replacements, inspections, oil changes, etc and I've had a great experience each time and they have fair prices. I live farther away from their shop now and I still only take my car there. If they don't do a specific job then they will even point you in the right direction. I came in with codes P0316 and P0303 and asked to get a fuel injector replaced. I stated I had already changed my spark plugs, ignition wires, and the ignition coil. They went out there with their own reader, and came back in saying i needed a spark plug changed. I told the dude I was talking to I had already changed them and the code returned. I wanted a fuel injector replaced along with an oil change. he said it would come out to about $230 without the oil change and I agreed. I came back the next day and when I spoke to the technician he said they had cleaned my fuel injector. I told him that's not what I asked for and he said there was nothing they could do and he wasn't guaranteeing that the issue was resolved. I payed $290 for an oil change and fuel injector cleaning. read more

Fixed my 01 Honda Civic when I got rear ended. Fixed my 07 Subaru Legacy and has helped keep it running through out it's problems. Head Gasket and all. This shop said they did an overhaul on my car's transmission in October'21. After a week, I picked up the car and the engine light was still coming on, and the car was still not shifting right. I had to take my friend who referred me to them, because they were so rude and brushing me off when I dealt with them on my own. With my friend there, they agreed to replace two spark plugs, which they charged me for, in adddition to the $3,500 transmission job. They also claimed to have changed a motor mount. They did such shoddy work, I took it back to my old mechanic. He showed me where the motor mount had a huge crack. They are liars, dishonest, thieves. Never take your car to this shop, avoid it like poison. Worst thieving shop I have ever seen. read more

This shop is a fraud. I went to the SHOP after reading the yelp reviews to get my car fixed up. The guy never mentioned it was him doing it privately when I personally drove the the SHOP for the job to get done. Not only the mechanic was there telling me infos, also the front desk and 2 other people, so no it was not private through him as he claimed. afterward when we ask for a receipt, the guy refuses to give us a receipt when he promised and i have recorded voice evidence. I will not let this slide and will get to the bottom of this. "Why would a receipt matter anyways" said the guy working there named David. Well I would like to have proof of my car job and know where my money went. I am very disappointed for them lying to me. I called back and they told me to keep my 20 (i had to pay 70 for labor, only paid 50 early, shouldn't have done that) and no receipt was available. I am filing a F3949 A tax report form on the company. Voice record clearly showed how we were unaware of the "under the table" situation and later them denying the promised receipt. read more

Put in shop for leaking trans cooling hose replacement. First drive exposed large new hole in radiator caused by shop. After radiator replacement and return of car: I added 6 times the volume of transmission fluid that it takes to go from the low line to the high line. What if I hadn't checked it! Trans hose retaining clip at radiator end not put in place and new hose was hitting frame. Every hose and wiring harness retaining clip was pulled out of their mounting holes instead of being opened for hose / wire disconnect and every one had their retention barbs broken and would not capture in the holes. Radiator hoses and fan wiring flopping around. A 7 inch section of protecting sheath over a bundle of wires was missing from this harness. After finding a place to get under the car I found one end of the retaining clip for the hose at the trans end was not clipped in place and the protective cover was slid up the hose and not in place. What if I hadn't checked and the hose popped out! When my Visa statement came I saw that they added 2% over the amount on the invoice they gave me. Would you ever trust this shop? read more

I went there today to get air in my tires after three failed attempts at doing it on my own at the gas station and crying cause I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. One didn't have enough air and another ended up with too much. One of the workers, which I didn't get his name because I was so stressed out over the whole thing, helped me within minutes. He got my car, filled up all the tires with air and didn't charge me a dime. I tried to offer and he said "don't worry. It was just air". If you read this, you made my horrible day 100% better. Been bringing my vehicle to Paul Hooks for a couple years now. Good service, honest and reliable.

First mentione only battery issue and later added timing belt and oil leaks ,charged 900$ mentioned ready to drive. After fixing timing belt car is giving lot of vibration and did not refixed and that issue is linked with mount and asking us to change mounts. Not sure what went wrong AC did not work and charged 375$. wost part repired without prior notice and cahrged 400$. still AC is not working and not accepting to refix. ended up with 1300$ noting was fixed and car is not in a poistion to drive. Highly recommend to avoid this shop. read more

Not satisfied with the service. Paul cares only about the money and employees are not very friendly. I would not recommend this automotive place to anyone. The skirt that goes over where the tire is is not installed properly and missed apart. the bumper is not fixed properly,the bulb was not working after Paul installed it. I wanted info about after market and oem and he said price difference is the only thing that's different. I had to make 3-4 trips to get it install properly. I have filed a complaint on BBB for this business. I am not the type to go and complain on BBB but this really disappointed me and the amount of times I had to leave class early to get it situated. we took our car for AC repair. Gave us $600 quote. We decided to pay and get the AC fixed. We got the car back after they "so called fixed it". It didn't even last 24hrs!! No cold air was coming out! When we took the car back, they said it was a "new" leak! How dishonest. How is it possible to have a new leak within 24 hours of so called repair. The owner Paul was so rude. When we asked him how could it be that we paid for the service and the AC is still not fixed. He gave us another quote for another $600!!!! and he said apparently a "rock" hit and now there is a new leak!! Cannot believe an owner will make up stories to cover misdiagnosis! I am new to San Antonio and my AC was non-functional, I was told by a shop in FL that I needed a new AC kit at $2500. No one could refer an auto shop when I got here to San Antonio, so I contacted AAA. Still no help, because they gave me 5 shops on their list. I chose Paul D Hook only because its named after the owner and his reputation is more exposed that way. Jarrod was the technician and he explained 2 options to fix the problem and wouldn't know the final cost until he saw inside the AC unit. He called and told me the whole kit didn't need to be replaced, just the compressor, saved me $1500 (though Hooks quote for my car's AC kit was only $2000). Their honesty saved me some cash.
