I came across Paulina's Food Catering in a list of vendors that previously serviced a party at Underwood Family Farms. The venue requires liability insurance so I worried about finding a taquero for my party, but Paulina was familiar with the venue and the insurance requirement so it was a breeze. I was nervous about hiring a vendor that I didn't know for such a big event, but the process was great from start to finish. Paulina was extremely communicative and responded quickly to all messages. Paulina's is open for walk-in patrons and well-worth the trip to downtown. I had the best al pastor I've ever had at Paulina's and I can't recommend them enough. I was lucky enough to attend a really fun event yesterday! It was for a cute little 2 year old's birthday party. Her cool parents had Paulina's set up in the backyard. What a treat! Delicious, hot, fresh & authentic street tacos! Not greasy but nicely seasoned Beef or Chicken spooned onto a corn tortilla. They use a silver dome to warm them. There's also a plentiful salsa bar with everything you'd want to enhance the already great soft taco, from fresh cilantro to green & red salsa. The pot of Pinto Beans (I'm pretty sure it was Pinto) made for a perfect side as did the Spanish Rice. Oh, and the Tortilla Chips! My favorite kind! Thick, golden, not too salty & crunchy. I can't believe I only ate two (but they were big). Two friendly employees working well together...I wish I could have them here at my house several times a week, party or no party! From the first point of contact to completion of the event, everything went without a flaw!!!! Paulina's gave us a quote that matched our budget and was competitive towards the other taco caterers in terms of what they provided for 100 people. Our event came with 1 hour of prep, 2 hours of service. Cooking area was on a tarp that they provided per the park rules and regulations. Spanish Rice & Beans, Onions, Cilantro, Mild Green Salsa, Hot Red Salsa, Plates, freshly cooked to order Carne Asada, Pollo Asado, Al Pastor, Grilled Onions & Grilled Jalapeños are what was provided My guests were very happy with the lunch provided and Paulina's business cards were all taken after the event. Better late than never... Paulina's catered my daughter's 1st birthday back in June of 2014. The food was amazing!! I chose shrimp (additional charge), asada and chicken. Everything was literally gone within an hour. The only negative thing I have to say is that cook was rude. I understand it was scorching hot, but come on now! He seriously had an attitude about EVERYTHING! We couldn't ask him a question, make a comment, or anything. I paid additional for quesadillas, which was a waste because no one knew that was an option. Regardless of that I booked them again for my second daughter's 1st this coming October. We did catering from them. They were punctual and everything was fresh. The only thing I didn't like was they gave salsa in a cratering trays and needed the salsa transferred into another tray that I was suppose to supply but they never told me to supply it. I was unprepared and had to "make" something on-hand to transfer the salsa into. That was kinda annoying seeing as how I was already preparing for the party and overwhelmed. Didn't expect it. Other than that hiccup it was fine. From when I placed the order over the phone, food being delivered, guest eating the food, it was a good outcome. I will use this company again (I'll be prepared to have extra containers on-hand). For $330 we were able to feed over 40 people. Meat was pork, chicken, and beef. Fav was chicken (others were a little salty for my taste but guest loved them all). Came with fixings: rice, beans, onions, cilantro, salsas, chiles, limes, plates, and napkins. There's probably more but I forgot. For the price you cannot beat it. I especially liked the catering. The fact that I didn't need to have someone actually cooking all day but instead have it delivered and put it on my warmer trays helped a lot (the venue I used didn't allow for cooking on premise-insurance stuff). I've thrown many a party in my day and I can tell you that preparing food for large groups can be one of the most strenuous things. Furthermore, good or bad food can make or break any party, so I was delighted to find Paulina's through my Yelp friends. I booked them on fairly short notice (about two weeks) and they were prompt, efficient, generous with portions and most importantly, delicious! They alleviated the headache of providing food for a crowd which gave me time, as hostess, to mingle with my guests and actually enjoy the party. Tacos for 50 guests will run around $350. This includes an hour of set up and two hours of serving, three varieties of tacos (we had chicken, carne asada and pastor), rice and beans, grilled onions, two varieties of salsa and onions and cilantro to top the tacos. Warning: the hot salsa was SUPER hot, some of my guests had runny noses all night. I would label them in the future. All my guests raved about the tacos and loved that the taco man allotted them however many tacos their hearts desired. Other taco men at other parties I've been to only allow two at a time and make you get back in line if you want more. There are so many options for catering and taco guys, seems like everybody has some recommendation for "the best taco guy ever!" My wife recently graduated from university with her MA, so I decided to throw a big party and celebrate. I did a lot of research to find the right combination of price and quality, and ultimately decided to call Paulina's Catering. They have a minimum requirement of 40 people and I was able to get pork, chicken and steak along with all the toppings (grilled onions, jalapenos, green/red sauce, onions, cilantro, etc). I paid a bit extra for the rice and beans, and Paulina's also agreed to provide half quesadillas, half chips and salsa, which worked out great. On to the important part: PRICE. I paid $8 a person for all the above mentioned offerings, which included them coming to my house an hour before the party started to begin cooking, and then serving food for 2 hours. The food was a HUGE hit with lots of compliments on the quality and taste of the food. In talking to our cook, we found out that they have 40 cooks who cater parties around Southern California, so although they seem like a smaller business, they are actually a large and well run company. We use this place all the time! My friends, my church, and I use this as our go-to taco cart catering company. They come to your place, set up their cart and cook all the meat right there. They need about an hour pre-party to set up and start cooking, and require 1 table for food and CASH only. Their food is really good though. Beef, pork, and chicken tacos. Includes rice and beans, 2 salsas, radishes, cilantro, and red onions. They also grill up chiles and onions for you. They can also give you quesadillas if you request them. For a party of about 30-40, it was the minimum price of $300. Not bad. After they leave (they stay for a full 3 hours), they leave all the left overs (I still have 1.5 packs of tortillas in my fridge)! Their staff is also really really nice. I don't know anyone who's been less than impressed with these guys. I'd recommend to everyone!!! read more

By far the best taco service I've ever used. 5 years ago, I used Paulina's for the first time for a birthday and I've used them numerous times ever since. For some reason, their tacos taste better than other services I've had. Basically they'll come to your party and set up a grill and cook for 3 hours. Usually they have 3 meats: chicken, beef, and pork. They also provide tortillas and salsa and onions. For an extra fee, you can get rice and beans as well. And you get to keep all the extra food if it hasn't all been eaten yet. I would definitely recommend this service for your next party or get-together. read more

Paulina's did the catering for our wedding of 220 guests in Southern Orange County. They were affordable, efficient, on-time, and friendly! Omar, our point of contact, was very professional and prompt in his communication with us. We met with him in person and they served us a sample of the food we were planning on ordering. They were very flexible with us as we changed our minds about what we wanted to have at the wedding, and we were able to make last-minute changes about the number of guests up to a few days before the wedding. They were extremely accommodating! We ordered beef and chicken tacos with the complimentary onions, cilantro, radishes, and salsa, along with rice and beans. Paulina's had no problem with us serving additional sides of our own alongside what they provide. All the food was delicious and our guests loved it! I am so glad I found Paulina's Catering! I just simply went by the reviews on Yelp when I made my decision to contact them. I had never tried the food before, so I was a little nervous. I spoke with Omar through email from day one and he was so nice and patient with all the questions that I had. He always responded promptly. I can believe they have 5 star reviews, I called and asked if they had taquitos de papa and the guy on the phone said no, and then said yes, they were just trying to be smart, every mexican restaurant knows what a taquito de papa is, come on! They sent me some taquitos with grits inside, probably some left over grits from breakfast,they were so horrible, flavorless and disgusting, I should've have known when I opened my plate, the avocado was brown not because it has been cut for a while but because it was rotten, the rice and the beans were so flavorless as well, I don't understand how they're still in business serving food like that, oh well, I won't be ordering from them anymore, ZERO STARS FOR PAULINA'S CATERING! their food sucks and their taquitos are the worst ever, this is goin straight to the garbage where it belongs! read more

I have had two events catered by Paulina's. The first was last year with 60 people. It was great. This year I was asked to handle the food for an event with 200 people. Paulina's was my first thought. Quality and price are both excellent. I ordered beef, chicken, and fish tacos with orders of guacamole, salsa and chips. The tacos are made fresh to order on site with sauces, cilantro, onions to compliment your tastes. The guacamole was excellent, salsa spicy, and chips freshly made. I hired Paulina's to cater my son's birthday party and they did a great job. Tacos were 15 minutes late, but worth the wait. Plenty of leftovers to take home. I had to pay an extra $10 for veggies (which was just bell peppers) and $30 for chips. It took a load off of me so that I was able to enjoy the party and not have to worry about food. Booked Paulina's on pretty short notice, i believe i called them on monday or tuesday before a saturday party. Was $350 for a party of 50. Carne asada, chicken and al pastor. Included beans, rice, onions, cilantro, grilled onions/jalapenos, limes, plates (no napkins or utensils). 1 hr prep/cook and 2 hrs serving. Add'l vegies were $10 extra. We also got chips/salsa ($30) and guacamole ($35 for 8 lbs). Pepe arrived on time, set up quickly and had the food ready to go as scheduled. The tacos were a hit. At least a couple people grabbed Paulina's business card. And it was a ton of food. I'm not quite sure how many people ended up coming - our initial headcount included 30+ adults and 20+ kids, so we were anticipating more than enough food - but it was ridiculous how much we had leftover. We sent as many people as possible home with plates of food, and we'll still have tacos for a few days this week. Would not hesitate to have Paulina's cater again.
