Best damn sandwich I ate in recent times! I went here for a lunch break with my fellow Park Ranger. The ambiance looks like a Rocky movie with vintage menus and boxing/ sport pictures. The service is welcoming and felt like grandma's cooking brewing down the hall. I like the scenery.. A classic hole in whole joint :) I ordered the Paul Special sandwich, which consist of a ham and sort of Italian recipe in it. The vinaigrette is so good that enhances the whole sandwich's flavor. And of course a combo meal consist of a drink and a chips. This place is so simple and humble that I will go back here for more :)

I was craving sandwiches, so my husband took me here to satisfy my craving. I ordered the 6" meatball sandwich with extra cheese, but it didn't come with the extra cheese--slightly disappointing. It also wasn't as saucy as I'd hoped, but still a solid meatball sandwich that hit the spot. My husband got the 6" Italian sandwich. The flavors were great, but he felt it could use a bit more shredded lettuce. The highlight was the hospitality from the owner, Paul. He was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and made for great conversation. The ambiance had a classic mom-and-pop feel, decorated with soccer photos and trophy pictures.

Working in the area and decided to stop in for lunch. I had a hankering for a Meatball Sub or a Philly Cheesesteak, and it was suggested that I try their Meatball Sub, and that I also just order a "half", as they were huge. It came with toasted bun, plenty of cheese, but the meatballs were a little on the smaller side. Also, the sauce was a little garlicky, but still tasty. They did have some good deli-style "Dirty" brand chips in several flavors, which I enjoyed. The dining area is not the most modern or updated. There were four tables and four chairs at each table, but also a lot of stuff stored in the dining area. The kitchen work area is a little bit dark, there were panels missing over some of the lights, and the beverage refrigerators were only partially stocked (less than half full). Parking is easy in the large shopping center lot. I was a little surprised, as Yelp reviews for this place rave about the food and service, and I thought that it was quite average. Maybe I was in on an off day. I would stop in again when working in the area to give them another try.

See that right there? I circled it for you. That, my friend, is a good sub. The Paul's Special.

The reason they call it a deli is because it's DELICIOUS! If you want an American style sub sandwich and you're in Westminster, CA, then you have to try Paul's Deli. I've eaten the subs from here about four or five occasions. I have never been disappointed. I like the roast beef and the Paul's special. This deli is small and unassuming. The decor is ALL boxing related so that is pretty cool. The staff is super friendly. And they put pride in their craft...crafting a sub you can depend on. Paul's Deli....There just ain't no substitute!

Not a lot of places you get to interact with the owner. Paul welcomed us with a lot of enthusiasm and energy. You can tell he's proud of his business...respect! Wife was craving. Meatball sandwich and it did the job. I had the recommended Italian, both 1/2 subs and it felt like a full sub at other places. It was good. I like mine drenched in oil and vinegar so I should've asked but it was a nice balance of flavors. The meatball could use more sauce but (again we should've asked) but it was good nonetheless. We will be back. Great neighborhood sandwich spot we found.

This is the best prosciutto sub I've had hands down. Perfect amount of toppings and meat. The bread is perfect with the right amount of salt. The young man who made our sandwiches and took our order was so polite and kind. The white pasta salad is so garlicky and I mean that in the best possible way. I'll def come back. The owner was kind enough to give us a cannoli which was just a nice touch and perfect amount of sweet to balance all the savory.

I would definitely recommend trying this place at least once. This hole in the wall, mom and pop style restaurant, is sure to meet your authentic Italian food craving. You definitely feel like one of the family when you order and throughout your dining experience. It's family owned and operated and they are so nice! Even though they ran out of the penne pasta I ordered, they gave me the stuffed shells and they were amazing! I got pasta, salad, garlic bread, and a drink for $7!!! AND the owner gave my bf and I free cannolis which were amazing (and I'm really not a big fan of cannolis). All in all, you must try this place! read more

First time here last night and we got there 10 mins before closing. We were pleasantly surprised with everything! The food was delicious!! Super cool owner that welcomed us in and took our order sit down orders with a smile and conversation. I offered to order it all to go but he insisted what we stay and that he was in no hurry to boot us at 8pm (closing time) The food was great, WE'D TOTALLY COME BACK! read more

I moved to Long Beach a while back and I work in El Segundo now but I still find myself driving to Paul's every other month or so because the sandwiches are that good. I'm an eater, so I get a whole. My wife gets a half and she has enough for lunch and dinner later on that night. Agree with the other posts about the guy behind the counter: class act. Funny, entertaining and dedicated to service. Decor is really cool. Feels like your in "the old neighborhood" or whatever they're talking about in those east coast boxing movies. read more

My hubby and I have been searching for an authentic, Italian sub sandwich on fresh, crusty bread soaked in fresh Italian dressing and after trying several Italian deli places in and around our area, went here on a whim. This place wouldn't be called a deli where I come from. Almost no selection at all. And what kind of deli covers up the case so that you can't see the meats, cheeses, etc.? Pretty disappointing, especially since I'm being told that this is the best deli in the area. Two stars, though, because the sandwich was actually pretty good. read more

After a long hike, I had in thought to stop by this place to give it a try. I was here yesterday and I got a surprisingly warm welcome. Walked in and placed my order. I ordered the Paul's special and some garlic bread to go along with it. While I was waiting for my order to finish, I looked around and was amazed at what was on the walls. I didn't get to look around much but I definitely saw a lot of history. I recall looking at the boxing pictures and some medals. My order had finished and I took it home. Pulled up on the driveway and started eating. Best sandwich I had ever had! Didn't take very long to finish eating. I've been driving by many times and finally decided to go for it. Definitely will be coming back! read more

Just moved to area and found this place on Yelp and decided to try after seeing all the great reviews. I don't mind no air conditioning if food is good. I wish I could say we enjoyed it. Maybe we tried the wrong items? I had the Rueben and hubby had meatball sandwich. So so meatballs, bread did fall apart. Meat in my Rueben was tough. We ended up tossing what was left. On-point, east coast style sandwiches. Had a 16" prosciutto that was delicious - plenty of flavor. The sandwich itself was basic but with italian dressing that just highlighted the flavor or the meat. Friend got cannoli as well which was good. Oh my! I went to this place for the first time today and I am very pleased:) First off, their customer service is great!! It was one guy and a gal handling the operations. Both very friendly and personable. I ordered my sandwich ahead so I could just drop in, and go. I got a half hero cold sub, which was delightful! It is a bit pricey, but the ingredients are delish and fresh, so I didn't mind at all! I got chips, the half Sammy and a drink for $10- Oh and if you get a half samich, they are what I would consider a whole. Very good portion. I will defiantly be going back to try their other yummy looking grubbage. read more

Have been meaning to try this place out for awhile, finally remembered when I was out and about. Got a turkey and cheese sandwich and my was it amazing! It reminded me of my favorite deli de simones up the street. Except for de Simone's is always dry and this sub was anything but! The sandwiches we tried were ok good. But the service is amazing! They are very patient while my mom was trying to order. She asks a lot of questions. They give recommendations, gave us a free side of pasta and were very accommodating . Btw: I preferred the red sauce pasta to the white one. read more

This is my local restaurant, and the good thing about Paul's Deli, it's near the 405 freeway, and the 22 freeway. Located at the corner of Westminster and Goldenwest. Paul's Deli has an abundance of choices for sandwiches on their menu. My favorite choice from the menu is the meatball sandwich. Paul's Deli maybe pretty expensive, yet it is worth the money and worth the time. If you would to come visit this restaurant, I would recommend you to get the combos for the price of 7$ with any Deli,drink, and a side of pasta. This price is pretty amazing. Trust me, the service in this restaurant is adept on what they make, for they been around for years. They are also cordial, which makes customers come back again. Although the food may take some time to be ready, but it matters on what you order. Some people embellish on their order and order a vast of food, causes the service to slow down! Went there the other day with my Pops and had lunch. Ordered the 1/2 pastrami with macaroni salad. It was disappointing. Definitely expected a lot more pastrami and less cheese. The bread made a huge mess. It was very flaky because it was toasted to melt the huge amount of cheese. They put one tomato on it with no mustard or pickles. I asked for only mustard and pickles and they gave me cheese and no mustard and pickles. The macaroni salad was one bite and done. No crunch and not a lot of flavor. Just cold pasta and a white sweet sauce. For their sake I am hoping I got the wrong order and I will go back and try it again to hopefully update this review with a better experience. On June 17, 2015 at 10:00am my son and I had some sandwiches at this place, together with our sandwiches we ordered some drinks from the fountain at the end we wanted a refill when my son opened the lift of his cup he noticed some flies on the ices. My first time to this crazy cool place. I was in search of the perfect Rueben, and they delivered. Walking into this place was like walking into an old East Coast deli. pauls deli is one of the coolest small little sandwich shops around, ive been going here since i was a kid and still do to this day. i get their sandwiches for lunch all the time, house special sandwich is great or any of the other sandwichs, i love the potato and macaroni salads, i love it all!
