Hoping to enjoy a nice experience with my wife and friends we approached the entry and were greeted by security "Alfredo". My wife uses the assistance of a certified Service Dog. Security asked what his service is and we advised he is a psych service animal who will lead her out of certain situations. ALFREDO asked more conditions of my wife and we tried making it clear that he is not allowed to ask these questions. ALFREDO stated he can ask whatever he wants and refuse to allow our group entry when we made it clear the questions he was asking about my wife's condition were out of line. We decided to leave. After about 30 minutes I decided to go inquire who the manager is so I could advise of the situation and file a complaint. ALFERDO was the 1st point of contact and, when asked he stated HE is the manager.....all along he's wearing a security shirt. He, along with another guy would not disclose who the manager is...so I walked away. As I was leaving I saw 2 guys who work at Paul's Steak House and stopped to ask who the manager is of Margaritas....they said Millie. So, security guy clearly lied. As I'm talking to the 2 guys from Paul's about the manager, the short guy approached and stated that I need to leave the property. I clearly had no intention of staying but short guy didn't want me getting the information I had already received and so we could get the police to file a complaint. I stood and waited for short guy to summon the police officer from across the street. When he arrived I explained the entire situation and that I had no intention of staying on the property. The cop, who is former military stated that he absolutely knows what a service animal is and said I should get a lawyer. I'm disappointed in this man. The point: We were denied entry and my wife and friends were extremely embarrassed by the ILLEGAL probing questions by "Alfredo"....beyond what he is allowed to ask. Our service dog had his vest on and his certification card clearly displayed on his back. This treatment is UNACCEPTABLE at best! read more

Super fun bar with a great river view. Located right in the center of town, this is a great late night bar with a great DJ. It has tons of seating and standing room in the front. Multiple bars to be able to choose from and the drinks are pretty inexpensive. The bartenders count the pores to make sure to not over serve. They have a bar food menu consisting of fried foods that you would usually see on a late night menu. Nothing to write home about but great if you need something to soak up the alcohol. Leave your car at home and walk here or get a DD because the police are posted up in front looking for people who are walking back to their car and The Ubers are far and few between here. read more

Right on the Chattahoochee, in fact, it is so close to the river that you can actually hear it as long as you are not sitting too close to the dance floor area. They have 34 ounce beers, they also have 14 ounces beers for people who shutter at the thought of carrying a 34 ounce beer on a dance floor, however. I had a bratwurst and it was really good as were the tater tots. They do line dancing at 9 o'clock, but plenty of people free dance before the line dancing starts. The place is counter service, there's a guy with a microphone who announces the orders and you can hear the orders being announced. I don't too much like the system for a place like this that has live music and dancing because it distracts from the enjoyment of the music, but it's not a huge deal. There was more bread than hot dog is all I can say I threw about half my food away due to not being able to eat it because there was so much bread and not enough meat. I ate the slaw with a fork separately. My husband got the chilli cheese fog the cheese is very spicy but he said it was good. A quick trip thru Helen Georgia landed at Paul's Margarita Deck. We were greeted by the first window Bartender who was the Answer Man. Made several suggestions and we took his advice. He made some point on recommendations. The Turkey Rueben was Great as was the Philly cheesesteak and wings. He said the Chicken nachos were quite a big portion. They were! We enjoyed a quiet Sunday afternoon watching Rafting Tubers having loads of fun. Even had a Kitty and Puppy joining in on the fun with their masters. Relax they had life jackets on. Too cold for me but they were happy. Thank you for a nice entertaining day. You do pay to park but your fee is deducted from your food bill. Good deal! read more

Order at the counter, and listen for them to call your number. There's live music in the dining area, so you really have to listen. The food is inexpensive and delicious, plus we didn't wait more than 5 minutes. There was a steady crowd, when a table opened up, it filled right in again, but it didn't feel crowded, and there are plenty of places to sit. I am only referring to the gaming machines inside. I was playing in the game malfunctioned. This is a system where you have to deal with the manufacturer, not the location manager. So I scanned the code on the machine filled out the required forms to no avail. They simply will not return my money. It is a rip-off. We come to Helen every year for Oktoberfest. By far this is our favorite place to sit and have a drink overlooking the river. They have live music on the weekends and it is usually pretty busy Saturdays and Sundays. The staff is always great and even though the drinks are a little higher priced it's worth it for the experience. The food is moderately priced and good. You're going to pay for the view. They have a counter to order your food and pay and then they call your number and you pick up your food. There is a huge deck with umbrellas for shade and you can enjoy the weather and look out over the water. It's a great spot and would be even better if the food were good and reasonably priced. My husband had a cheeseburger which was clearly a frozen patty on a bun, toppings are at a bar for self service. I had the Ruben which was decent and added fries instead of chips for $4!!! I should have stuck with the chips because the fries were a let down. Our meals with 1 beer each came to $49. The chips were stale and the "Steak Fajita" was just thin chopped beef. I felt robbed. At least, they have a cool bar of toppings (veggies, sauces, and more) and it all was fresh. We parked in a lot near it and our parking payment could be used as a voucher for a drink or food. I had the applesauce shot (huge applesauce fan) and it was great. I also had one of their cocktails and liked that as well. We didn't stay for more than an hour but enjoyed the view and live music. May 2022 - Helen is the Vail of the North Georgia mountains! Paul's Margarita Deck was a scenic place to stop on a warm afternoon. We had a couple of beers and deep fried mushrooms and (12) wings. The wings were overpriced ($16.90) but good. The mushrooms were the size of a nickel and we received about 10 of those. They tasted fine but are not worth $10.95 ! I'm pretty sure those were not imported from China. There were no servers and it appeared to be a self-serve operation. Overall, this business has great potential but the price gouging is over-the-top for basic bar food. read more

This is ONLY for the entertainment and atmosphere. I didn't have any drinks and only a bite of cheese fries :) We took a bachelorette party here and wow was it a blast. So many fun memories made. The band was cool - they played a lot of classics but switched it up a bunch to play rap and party music. At one point we had a (Come and Ride it) train snaking around the whole place. We had no problem securing a table and there were plenty in the back if you wanted to just take a break and overlook the river. They stayed open until 1...I wasn't able to find many places who remained open this late. And we definitely closed it down. Tourist trap with DISGUSTING food. They only accept cash, and everything is super overpriced. I paid $15 for a nasty burger, fries, and a small can of coke. After waiting 15 minutes, the burger came out chewy and disgusting. The fries were the only good part. I got very sick after eating here. I was throwing up and could barely sleep. None of the employees were wearing masks, and there was no social distancing enforced amidst a pandemic. We're here in Helen for spring break and on our first day we stopped at Paul's margarita deck, because mama loves margaritas. I've now vowed never to go to a place with margarita in the name, because it was so bad. The kitchen looked like it was the concession stand at a kids baseball game. We ordered two kids meals, and a nachos for my husband and I to split, plus two drinks, a soda, and a kids slushee, and it was $90 something before tip! On top of that the food was inedible. Our daughter had two bites of her burger, we had a couple bites of our nachos, our son ate a chicken finger, and my margarita was bad, at a place that has margarita in the name! It was all mix. For reference we had dinner at a real restaurant tonight, 4 entrees, two drinks (one a big stein), two kids drinks and it was less than the Pretip amount at Paul's. Sit down, servers, all that, unlike Paul's. Completely dissatisfied with Paul's margarita deck. They most definitely take advantage of tourists, and it's not subtle. read more
