I asked for an iced water twice and then ultimately did not recieve any water at all. They gave my friend the option of turkey bacon since he does not eat pork but proceeded to bring him his plate with regular bacon. So the service was not all there even though thw waitresses seemed competent. The california benedict were decent but not amazing. The only thing saving that dish was the fact that I enjoy avocado. The homefries were bite sized and had a nice crisp texture to them. The ambiance was nice and fresh and reminicent of some type of boat house. They were able to accommodate a large group of 9 but only after having to wait about 45 minutes. The prices of the breakfast foods were a bit high in my opinion. Paul's used to be a very good place to have breakfast. Unfortunately no more. Our waitress (whom I believe is also the manager) was awful. She didn't pay attention to us at all. I had to flag her down four times (once for missing silverware, once for coffee, a third time for our food, and lastly for our check). It took a half hour to get two breakfast orders and the only time we saw our waitress was when I physically had to flag her down. Food was mediocre at best. This restaurant is pretty good. Not the best food I've had but it's not that bad. The staff is nice. One downside is the place is very old fashioned and not that clean compared to other restaurants. This was described to me as the best breakfast place in "The Shire." I would have to agree. The home fries were delicious and you couldn't find a more perfect pancake. I definitely would recommend this to anyone that was looking for a good hangover cure or just wanted a great breakfast place. Went here on Sunday am. Me and husband ordered two eggs and one piece of toast, he asked if home fries came and that's a separate order. We weren't that hungry and just wanted the basic's. We also ordered two coffees and one small glass of juice costs 2.75 also coffee is 2.35. We left with a hefty bill for the little we had. i know, just because a restaurant says it is open until a certain time doesnt mean that if you get there within opening and closing time that they will actually serve you. is there a time frame that is it reasonable to expect to be served? we were there 30 min prior to their posted closing time and they turned us away, so if you are headed over there maybe try to get there an hour before posted closing time if you want to actually get food. really wanted to try their famous veggie burgers but now that probably wont happen. good luck. read more

The most mediocre restaurant in the area. Everything there is pretty much okay. You leave and you don't feel you've been cheated or taken, or for that matter, had anything special. I can speak only for breakfast which is somewhat overpriced and somewhat dull. Other places have signature menu items. Paul's, not so much. Having said all that, if they would just try a little harder with something as simple as home fries instead of ladling out a scoop of wannabe tater tots, I could overlook the rest of their failings. It is not often I review but his was an awful experience. Who should have to wait 30minutes after being seated to even get coffee or to have your orders taken and over an hour to get what amounted to eggs and hash (which wasn't all hash but some unknown contents likely left over on the grill). And over medium eggs were anything g but. The waitresses blamed the kitchen but they weren't helping the situation. And not even an "I'm sorry" from the owner. I am embarrassed to admit that it took me over one month to write this review. On April 1st my son and I stopped in for breakfast. He is four years old and had a tough time when I dropped him off at pre-school that day. I decided to take him to work with me, because I didn't want him to have a hard day. We stopped in for breakfast because I was starving. As soon as we walked in, EVERY associate was kind, attentive, and gracious. We both enjoyed our breakfasts. Everything was great. But the real purpose of this review is to thank Debbie. She was our server, and made my little boy feel so special, and she has no idea how she impacted us that day. Paul's Restaurant is a local Cheshire diner with a laid back country home atmosphere. Paul's has an open seating system meaning once you enter from the rear of the building it is the guest's responsibility to find an open table in which to sit; finding an open table can prove difficult on busy days when the place is packed as guests are unable to see all seating areas due to the backroom's entry way. Coffee is easily accessible for guests (both regular and decaf); however, I do not drink coffee and was saddened when the waitress stated they do not carry Dr. Pepper. The Eggs Florentine was cooked properly but lacked any seasoning or distinctive flavor which is not bad but nothing spectacular either. The fruit side was fresh and an excellent addition to the meal. Paul's Restaurant is a great place for families and locals to enjoy their hometown business but it is not somewhere you would visit for a special occasion. read more

My son and I decided to go to have a bite to eat yesterday. We walked in, and the lady said we have no tables available when we could clearly see tables in the back, and 2 seats at the counter. I asked if we could sit at the counter and she said fine. On the table were 2 paper placemats and an empty cup of coffee that would need to be taken away and replaced by some serving utensils and new paper placemat, you know the one with the advertising. 3 waitresses walked back and forth continuously as if we were invisible and angry at us for sitting down. After 5 minutes sitting there like 2 unwanted guests we decided to leave! The staff was so rude and disrespectful!!! I would not recommend coming here. Apparently I was told later in the day there is a "new owner". Maybe the staff does not like the new owner, maybe the new owner was not there, or maybe the new owner was there and this is how it is. As we sat there I looked at others around me and they all seemed to have the same disgusted look on there face with the service and atmosphere. Went there for lunch and ordered a tuscan salad. I asked if they would substitute goat cheese for the bleu cheese. They said no problem. They gave me my choice of dressings and I went with the peppercorn. When the bill came there was an up charge of $2.00 for the goat cheese and .50 for the peppercorn dressing.
