For dinner, we ordered the salmon and the chicken. Prior to the meals, they gave us bread with an appetizing oil and olive dip. We also ordered a glass of the Sauvignon blanc. My best friend and I went to Erlowest to celebrate her birthday and it was a very memorable experience. Firstly, the property overlooks Lake George and we happened to be there during a full moon. The beautiful bright moon reflecting off the water was absolutely stunning. It definitely set the scene for what promised to be a beautiful evening. The food at Erlowest was absolutely AMAZING! I had the lobster bisque, filet and the chocolate mousse with raspberries. Each dish was well presented and flavorful. We finished the evening an espresso martini that was absolutely perfect!! The night was made that more special by our server Brooke. She was very helpful and so sweet. My friend's dessert (brownie sundae ) was brought out with a special handwritten card wishing her a happy birthday from everyone at Erlowest. It was such a special touch to a lovely evening. I would highly recommend for a special evening out. The venue is stunning with gorgeous views, the food is beyond compare, and everyone there is so attentive and thoughtful. We went on 7/4 and discovered that we likely wouldn't see the fireworks from the restaurant, but the spectacular views were worth it! The entire place is stunning. The bartender made an outstanding espresso martini, and the waiter was incredibly attentive, funny, and personable. Almost everything was perfect. Service by Brooke was excellent . Lobster salad and lobster bisque, mushroom risotto and quail appetizers were delicious. I ordered the special - halibut with quinoa and black rice. The halibut was coooked perfectly but the quinoa and black rice flavor didn't enhance it - it just didn't go. It clashed with the halibut. And the halibut was quite bland without a sauce such as lemon white wine. That's the reason I didn't give it 5 stars. I would definitely return and order a different entree. read more

I went to lake George in sept 2020 and was upset when their earliest reservation was a week out.. so for Mother's Day weekend i made sure to book in advance. I had a reservation for outdoor in an igloo on Friday night. My sister, mom and i all ordered filet and my niece chicken fingers. They were very accommodating however our food was subpar to say the least and seems we were eating the same time the wedding reception took place. Probably the worst filets we've ever had. On the menu it said the filet comes with sweet potato mash (ours came with regular mashed potatoes- i guess that's what the bride put on their option) All of our filets were broiled. The bread and olive spread and Chicken fingers were the best part of the dinner. Don't waste your money here. read more

Called yesterday morning to cancel Valentines Dinner due to positive COVID test and said we are not welcome with COVID and will be charging us $50. Canceled our reservation before getting back to us about our options like bringing someone else. Manager "told us seven times" that they absolutely will not make an exception and that they would not even give us a credit for future dining so we will not be future dining with them. We did the right thing and they did not, very disappointed! Very short sighted to lose a customer over $50. read more

My sister reserved this restaurant well in advanced for Mother's Day weekend. To our surprise the Igloo was cold and the lights were off. We were told it was set up 10minutes prior due to the wedding that was being held at their venue. My mother sister and I all ordered the filet. Surprisingly the filet came out pretty quick and at the same time the wedding party was asked to sit for dinner. Clearly it was food that was being served at the wedding . The restaurant has an intractable 48 hour $25 per person cancelation policy. I made reservations and had to cancel due to travel issues inside this window, and they were completely unsympathetic. For our eighth wedding anniversary, the first place that came to mind was the Inn at Erlowest - I wanted a fine dining establishment with a good reputation that neither of us had been to before. The building and grounds were beautiful. I made a reservation (a week or so prior) through OpenTable for 5:30pm, but we arrived early. We were kindly welcomed and seated right away, the first party seated. A wedding was going on in a different part of the facility. Our server was kind but not quite as "dialed in" as we would have liked - she didn't entirely understand the menu. The dinner started with hot, fresh rolls served with a mixed olive tapenade. Next came our appetizers. My husband ordered the beef and black bean soup, while I ordered the mushroom agnolotti. The both were delicious. The mushroom agnolotti was akin to mushroom ravioli or pierogi, which was served over what I believe was swiss chard. Next was the "amuse bouche", a chilled asparagus soup that was fantastic - I would have ordered a cup of that given the opportunity! Next came the entrees: I ordered the peppered lamb loin, and my husband ordered the NY Strip. Both were well-prepared and flavorful. It was a lovely experience, and definitely well-suited for special occasions. I was a bit disappointed that despite mentioning it in our reservation, and at check-in, and our to our waitress that it was our anniversary, that it went unremarked. After dinner, we went and had a glass of wine out by the outdoor fire place and watched the moon over the lake. It was lovely. read more

The view is spectacular and the Inn is pretty cool looking, even the food is above average, but the reason for the 2 starts is that the service is absolutely horrendous. This could easily be a 5 star establishment if the owner scraps the current management and hires new staff. I've been to hundreds of catering halls (former videographer) and this is the worst managed place I've seen. The staff are amateurish, rude and unprofessional. The owner should keep the chef and start from scratch with the management and waitstaff. This inn could be rebuilt into something quite spectacular. read more

With much anticipation, followed even more disappointment. That sums up my first and what will probably be my ONLY experience at this place. While I can't speak for the rooms, and while I realize I came during an "of-fseason", given the prices and what I had heard about the menu, I expected at least a good experience. To start, the place is very homey. The outdoor fireplace must be a cool thing on a chilly summer night over -looking Lake George. But being that it was November it was an even more welcome sight when I would go out for a smoke. My whole family booked a table for 27 tonight (the night after Thanksgiving) as is our tradition when we have a destination holiday. The previous reviewer's description of the the menu as being "small" doesn't even come close to summing it up. It was so small that I pretty much have it memorized: APPS Butternut squash soup- (kind of unoriginal and blah to be a part of a regular menu) New Zealand Langoustine and mussels in Cioppino broth- tiny Lobster of which you could only eat the minute meat if in the tail, 3 mussels in a "cioppino" broth that was overly sweet. This was my appetizer and I as well as my uncle thought it kind of smelled when it was served. Mixed Green Salad- Really? Two out of four appetizers are squash soup and a green salad? I had the beef tenderloin entree with a gorgonzola potato gratin, and autumn vegetable. I asked for my meat med rare and I got it a LEGIT med well. This was a 6 oz. filet and as I am writing this I am still hungry. But I decided to eat it anyways as to not cause a scene, I was starving and it would take 15/20 minutes for me to get back . Plus, for a tenderloin, this meat was very tough. I am not going to break it down to the individual components of each course though I could and am tempted to, but this meal was of five star cost and was what I would expect at Fridays except with smaller portions. The service was abysmal as well. The waiters didn't fill waters more than once, didn't check on anybody's entrees and nobody was offered coffee. Really one of the more disappointing experiences I have ever had as this place came recommended by a chef-friend who had never been. And as a final thought, the menu that was on their home page was twice the size of the ones we were handed. $38 for a 6 oz filet is just criminal. read more

There are very few places I enjoy Dinner in Lake George We had reservation for May 6th @ 5:30, We both ordered for a starter the Tomato Burrata and it was lacking any flavor, I have taken a few cooking classes at the Institute of Culinary in N.Y.C. Love the experience of eating in fine restaurant. From the Grill, we order 1 well and 1 medium rare Domestic Lamb T-bone, my lamb was far from med and both lambs the fat had not render and were grizzly and tough so tough that I struggled with my knife... We were so disappointed we send it back the lamb and ordered coffee instead we were done.. We won't be back to the Inn again and now would never recommend you go there! This past weekend we celebrated my newhew's First Holy Communion at this darling place. From the minute you walk into the reception area of this charming castle it's enchanting. We had the breakfast menu & everything was delicious. Atmosphere & food are the two reasons I'm giving this venue 4 stars. My only complaint was the extremely light, way overpriced drinks. She was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was superb. Gnocchi bolognese, prawns and octopus, cod with crab meat and white beans were all highlights. What can I say.... My wife and I had the luxury of dining here last Friday night ( 8/21/15) we were lucky enough to get a table outside overlooking the outdoor fireplace. Although the server was maybe not as polished as the food deserved she was attentive and friendly. the atmosphere couldn't have been better...until the food came- amuse boushe....does anyone even know to do that anymore? This place does with a well thought shrimp Andouille bite! Then when they learned my wife was vegan came running with a vegan option! A wonderfully executed gazpacho, salad and seared pork belly apps.... then came heaven....Local Wagu beef- like nothing I have ever had- Chef made a tofu and Purple rice concoction for the vegan love of my life that hit home. Beware of the fee they charge if you need to cancel a reservation. Opentable, their booking site says if you have 6 or more people and cancel within 48 hours there is a $20 charge PER PERSON. We had 5, and one was a 98 year old woman who became sick, so I called 26 hours before to cancel, and they charged me $100!! Not 6 people, as Their online reservation site specifies - we had 5! So beware. After talking with them about the website statement, the people at Erlowest blamed Opentable for not having the right info, and denied fault or a refund. A wonderful place for an exceptional dinner. The staff was very friendly and very attentive despite having a wedding party at the same time as our dinner. We started by sharing a pork bellie appetizer with candied jalapiñoes and figs. It is a wonderful balance of sweet, salty, and spicy. My entre,"tomahawk" pork over house made arugula fettuccine, was amazing. The fettuccine could be an entree by itself. My wife's salmon, recommended by our waitress, was outstanding as well. Perfect from start to finish. We knew it was a good omen when upon entering the already stunning grounds, we saw a HUGE rainbow spanning the entire lake! Breathtaking. That being said we ordered the lobster which was expensive to begin with and while the menu indicated it was a poached Maine lobster for $52 we only received 1/2 of a lobster.
