So we came here a year ago, and the food and service was sensational. Honestly We were dying to come back, and it was disappointing. Dumplings were cold, French Onion soup was bland, and the Ceasar Salad was terrible. We heard that new owners took over, so maybe it was freshman jitters?

What a great place! Stopped in on a Thursday night for drinks and a snack and were greeted by live music and seated right away. It's such a cute place and service was excellent. I ordered one of their margarita specials and it was so tasty! The pour was not light either, which I really appreciate, and definitely a homemade mix. The buffalo wings were solid and the dressing is homemade. I would for sure return to have a full meal.

The Huddle Kitchen & Bar was recommended by our hotel resort. They are located on the main street of town. The ambiance has a pub like flare with outdoor and indoor seating. We were a party of ten, and we were seated outside of the bar area, which was appropriate. The service was good, but I can't say the same for the food. Overall disappointing. The fish tacos were made of two tacos containing a salad and a small fried triangle of fish. The prices I thought were high. We were, however, in a popular vacation town drawing tourists from everywhere.

We enjoyed our lunch at the huddle. Staff was friendly, food came out quickly, and everything tasted great. Had the fish of the day sandwich, which was a red snapper. It was a well seasoned piece of fish with a kick (likely a cajun blend), which we enjoyed. Lettuce and tomatoes came with the sandwich. Fries were crispy and well seasoned as well. Also got an order of the rock shrimp. Nothing fancy about it, but it was good and not too heavy on the sauce, which worked for us. A simple spot that has its flavors down. We look forward to being back!

A great experience here for us. We will definitely be back! Here are highlights: socially distant outdoor seating, amazing jumbo lobster roll, really flavorful fish tacos, friendly and accommodating staff. Some things we noticed to work on: grilled chicken for my little one was a bit dry, we asked for the rotisserie chicken option and it seemed like it was microwaved. Young waitstaff kept bringing out orders that weren't for us. It was actually quite funny. The fish special noted a honey sriracha flavor. Ours was dry, but all the toppings held it together well. Their website was missing the dinner menu, adding it here! We'd definitely come back to try more!

We ordered the Arugula Roasted Beet salad. The arugula was super fresh and good, however, it overpowered the beets which were thin and underrepresented. We also enjoyed a shrimp cocktail which was very good. For mains we had the roasted duck breast and the braised short ribs. The duck breast was a bit more well done than we normally have preferred, but was delicious, tender and moist. The short ribs were melt-in-your mouth perfect. We both accompanied the mains with a glass of red wine (one of the Hout-Plaisance and one of the Pessac Leognan). For desert we tried the carrot cake and the peanut butter pie. The carrot cake was good but the peanut butter pie was heavenly. In all a very well prepared dinner. However, we expected more creativity from the chef compared to other meals we have enjoyed in the region. Pricing was on the high side.

I said you browse; I'll stand out here in the shade. Then I spied the sign for Chateau on the Lake, which said they were open for Happy Hour between 2:00pm and 5:00pm. So, I sauntered down Allens Alley towards the Chateau. Place was empty, except for the bartender. I announced I was here for Happy Hour, but was informed it's not really a Happy Hour, it's just that bar is open for business. Okay, I'll have a Heineken ($8). Then I went out back, sat in the shade, enjoyed my beer, looked at beautiful Lake George, and waited for the wife to call and say she was done browsing.

The poor service is factored into the score, but there's no reason to rehash every detail. We started with the mussels which were exceptional. The saucy broth they are served in is delicious. Unfortunately it's served with not nearly enough bread, and if you ask for more you will be charged (without being told). Our mains were a lobster roll and the steak salad. I am not a good judge of lobster, but it was "delicious." My steak salad did not arrive as ordered. The steak was overcooked (still tender, but certainly not medium-rare) and it was doused in dressing (which I had asked for on the side). The only reason to eat here is for the lake views. You are truly right on the lake. You're paying through the nose for that view because the food is just ok.

I had the frozen huckleberry lemonade adult drink special which was very tasty, although a bit challenging to drink for a bit (it was too frozen). My son got the chicken nuggies with fries. It came out hot and fries were crispy. Actually everything came out super fast as they had just opened and maybe they weren't too busy. I ordered the pretzel sticks with queso. Similar to my brother who got the nachos, there were diminishing returns in that it was better while it was warm and while the texture of the cheese was better. The pretzels were very salty. My sister-in-law enjoyed her chicken sandwich. The clam chowder and the steamed clams were fantastic. I'd highly recommend the soup and the shrimp dish that my wife had also wasn't bad. The cold lobster roll for $35 was not worth it in my opinion as it was more of a lobster salad. The view is fantastic here and the vibes are pretty good so overall a worthwhile stop if you are in the lake George region. But it is important to keep in mind that this on the nicer side and prices are correspondingly higher.

We ordered the Clam Chowder, Blackened Mahi Mahi, and the Seafood Scampi. The clam chowder and mahi mahi were decent--not amazing, but not bad either. The seafood scampi, however, was very bland and lacked the flavor I expected, especially for the price. One of the main reasons we chose this restaurant was to enjoy the view of the lake. Before being seated, we were told we would have a table right by the water. That didn't happen. Later, we noticed a lakeside table open up and asked if we could move, but was denied. The service also left a lot to be desired. Our waitress checked on us only once shortly after the food arrived. After that she essentially disappeared until it was time to hand the bill. Meanwhile, we watched her regularly check in on other tables. Both of our water glasses sat empty for quite a while, and no one came by to offer refills or see how everything was. I don't know what it was but looking back, I was too generous even tipping her at all! Even an average Chinese buffet server gives better service! There's no way they'll see me again. I regret giving them my money.

The evening got off to a great start with Fabian taking care of our table. He was the kind of server every restaurant hopes to have. Easy to talk to, attentive, and knowledgeable when we had questions about the menu. For appetizers, we went with the Hand Rolled Polpette, Risotto all'Astice e Gamberi, and the Crispy Mozzarella Tasting. The risotto was probably the favorite at our table, although the meatballs were a close second. For entrees, the Chicken Saltimbocca was excellent, the halibut was fresh and cooked perfectly, and the veal chop was easily one of the best dishes of the night. What nobody expected was that the kids' meals would be so great. All three children ordered the kids' steak, and every one of them was cooked beautifully. Their steaks were better than the steak I had the previous night at Tavern on the Lake, even though that one cost about 3x as much. Between the food, the service, and the setting overlooking Lake George, dinner ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. We'll definitely make a point of coming back next time.

Sadly, it ended up ruining what should have been a special evening. I began with the French onion soup. The menu described it as being served with a crouton, but what arrived was two large pieces of bread with only the thinnest drizzle of melted cheese. Anyone who enjoys classic French onion soup knows the hallmark of the dish is a generous blanket of bubbling cheese, with the bread hidden underneath. I politely mentioned this to our server, who took it back to the kitchen. What came back was astonishing. Instead of remaking the soup properly, the kitchen simply added two more pieces of bread--for a total of four slices--and again barely covered them with cheese. At that point I declined the manager's offer to make it a third time. After seeing what the kitchen considered an acceptable correction, I had completely lost confidence. For my entrée, I ordered the coconut shrimp and added the glazed spare ribs. Unfortunately, both were overwhelmed by an extremely sweet, thick, sticky glaze. The coconut shrimp themselves may have been very good had the sauce been served on the side so diners could decide how much to use. Instead, every bite was drenched in sweetness. The ribs had virtually the same heavy glaze, and even the green beans and carrots were swimming in a sweet sauce. The entire plate tasted like dessert rather than dinner. I barely touched it and simply had it boxed to take home so we could wash off the sauces ourselves. My husband ordered the bouillabaisse, which had the opposite problem--it was surprisingly bland and lacked the rich seafood flavor one expects from that classic dish. Rather than complain yet again, he also boxed it up so we could season it ourselves at home. By 8:30 on a Sunday evening we were still hungry and began searching for another restaurant, only to discover that most nearby kitchens were closing at 9:00. We ended up grabbing Chinese takeout just so we could have something to eat on our wedding anniversary. The evening became even more disappointing considering the cost. We ordered a $150 bottle of Cabernet, bringing our bill to approximately $300 before tip. Spending that amount for a celebratory dinner and then leaving hungry to find another meal elsewhere is not an experience I ever expected. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, and I generally give restaurants every opportunity to make things right. In this case, however, the problems extended well beyond a single dish. Between the mishandled soup, the excessively sweet entrées, the bland bouillabaisse, and ultimately having to find another dinner after spending hundreds of dollars, this was an anniversary dinner we will remember for all the wrong reasons. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously, because it has the potential to be much better than what we experienced.
