I know this is gonna sound petty, but the store no longer stocks my favorite beer--Mickeys Big Mouth in bottles. Spoke to a few stock people over the last few months as to why it wasn't on the shelf where the price tag was but finally told last week---no longer in the inventory and won't be at all in future. Hard to find item already now cannot be had in SB except by special order from Bay Liquor. But Pavilions has no problem stocking 5,000 different micro-super-duper-triple-craft-IPAs for $14 a six pack. End of an era and will reduce my shopping there to nil. I been coming here for 8 years and in the last 8 months they had made some changes to the store for the worse. They took the self check out lines out and now it takes 45 mins to go in for one thing only. I went last weekend around 9pm not many people in the store but once you check out it takes 45 mins. I had my wife time how long it took. This morning I went in at 6am it took 25 mins in line to get 3 things. THE BEST PART IS THEY HAVE A SIGN THAT SAYS "3 IS A CROWD" HANGING ABOVE THE LINES. I have talk to management several times and they are very condescending. They don't listen to what the customers have to say. Only way they will listen IF WE STAY AWAY! Seal Beach Pavilion's- one star only because you can't post with zero. Among the worst store in this brand. Question- do you have senior hours during the pandemic? Yes, 7-9 am every day. Do you enforce them? No. We can't. So if I'm 35, I can just come in as usual during those hours? Yes. Well your manager doesn't post anything or apparently train you. Do you want to speak to the manager? No thanks- it wouldn't do anything. It wouldn't. I won't shop in the store ever again. Response-OK! This was on the phone. I had an earlier conversation in the store to the same effect. There are too many good choices to ever patronize the store again (except for the US Bank branch in the building- they are terrific , have received great training, and care about their jobs and customers). read more

Your average ordinary overpriced Pavillions with creepy beach people and their holier than thou attitudes. Makes me want to pull a Beatlejuice and shreak "home-home-home!" Some guy parked his bike inside the door near the flowers and customers yelled at him for doing so while they were leaving the store. I came in to buy a package of chicken parts because I had a craving for chicken and dumplings all week. I really had only two choices: a $12 package with bones and skin or a $6 package of boneless skinless thigh meat. A rare time when the healthier choice was actually priced less! Love this Pavilions location...minus one star for a challenging parking spot situation, but otherwise great! First off, their alcohol selection here is fantastic! Way better than BevMo! I am pretty shocked by the bad reviews. I try to shop here whenever I head home after visiting my parents as they live close by. I am always impressed with their produce quality, and they have quite the variety of organics too. They sell prime beef cuts and always have a nice variety of seafood selections (i.e. today they had rock crab claws, halibut, chilean seabass). They also have a good selection of lactose free yogurt which is important to me. Their schematics are well thought out as items are usually easy to find, and the store is always clean and well stocked. The checkout lines are never too crowded too, even on a Sunday afternoon. Today, I asked a worker if they sell half cabbage heads since I needed to use a small amount for a recipe. He said no but walked over and cut one in half for me. Great service. Prices may be a bit higher than other chains but I am willing to pay for higher quality. read more

Are Starbucks inside of Safeway stores supposed to be of the same quality? I ordered a tall nonfat latte and it tasted like straight up steamed milk. It was kind of a last ditch effort because I didn't have much time and I was needing my caffeine. I guess I learned my lesson... Good move demanding your customers to pay attention to the register numbers that were unusually marked on the floor and rolling your eyes at them for not knowing that. You both looked young so maybe you haven't learned the right etiquette when it comes to dealing with new customers or maybe life just sucked to work on a holiday. But why did your customers who had nothing to do with your life being that way have to deal with your attitude on our supposedly fine day? I stop in often since this Pavilions is conveniently located on my drive home from work. There are things I love about it and things I hate. Pros: GREAT half-bottle wine selection. Excellent produce. Self check-out. Cons: The prices are higher than they should be. The self check-out machines have crappy software that makes them somewhat confusing. The employees who manage the self check-out section are no where near as nice and helpful as the ones at my local Ralph's. read more

I wish I could rate this store especially cashier named Nikki 5 negative stars. Sunday, June 7 I was shopping for the first time in this store. I just moved to Seal Beach. I was first in line to go to a cashier. Nikki was the first cashier. The person Nikki was taking care of was finished and walking away from the register when I started to walk toward the register. Nikki screamed at me to get back and wait!! I backed up. Nikki stood there for 5 second and then Nikki looked at me and didn't say a word. I moved forward and emptied my basket. Nikki never said one word to me. Nikki needs to get another job. David Erlitz Director of this store number 2803 needs to be aware of how Nikki treats customers and the horrible way Nikki represents this store. It's really bad. The Pavillion in Seal Beach is your standard higher end grocery store. They do have a selection of Organic Veggies and fruit. I can usually find some food that is interesting. I like that they also carry Kombucha . The downside is that I think they keep the store way to cold all year long. I am a fairly thin person and I try and get in and out before I freeze. I am finally getting the hang of self check- out. I would not recommend it if you are alone and have lots of items. I feel sort of awakward . If you have someone to help you bag your groceries it would be easier. I think people avoid the self check out, it can be stressful at times . read more

You can tell they put a lot of love and care into all their sushi creations. I bought a couple trays of their sushi and shared them at a party. The trays were emptied within minutes. I shared my new found discovery with everyone. Whenever I go to a party and have to bring food, this is my go to place. They also make sushi with brown rice. read more

As someone who lives within walking distance of Pavillions, I hope to write a favorable review because of its proximity. However, it is difficult with Pavillions. I see the negative reviews about the service and I have to agree. The ONLY person who has been nice is an African American lady at the checkout area. Everyone else thinks they're doing you a favor by stocking the shelves for you. Let's start: North Entrance: Right next to the booth where they arrange flowers. Every time I walk in (about 3x a week), I get a dirty look for the woman running the place. Not a big deal, you don't HAVE to be condescendingly nice to me. Produce: The usual teens who stock it and don't have a care in the world if you're in there or if Elvis Presley walked through. Meat: They ran out of packaged pre-cut chicken one day. I asked if they had more, the meat clerk said "no". Then an older guy from the back yelled at him and begrudgingly cut up a chicken for me and packed it for me. I may as well have asked to have sex with his mother..... from the way he looked at me. Bakery: Is there anyone ever there? I don't know. The bread just magically appears nightly. Deli: On a few occasions, they said they can't slice any more meat because they cleaned the equipment. Ok, next time I'll call in sick so I can buy sliced turkey BEFORE you clean the equipment. Checkout: The granddaddy of them all. Again, the only nice person here is an African American lady whose name I forgot (PROPS TO YOU!, AA Lady!). There is a cute brunette (well, cute if she ever smiled) who I don't think has ever said one word to me including "Hi" or "Thank you". I don't even remember any of the others even being halfway friendly. An acknowledgment of my standing in front of them would be nice.... but it's not a deal-breaker. I don't every remember anyone except AA Lady being nice. I get treated nicer at a strip club. At least at a strip club, they think they're gonna get tipped. Most of the time, I just do self-checkout because at least the automated checkout voice says "Thank you". Stuff: the usual stuff you find in a grocery store. However, once I exchanged a pint of Haagen Daaz because it had the consistency of glass-filled spackle. Likely because it melted and got refrozen, but I can't fault Pavillions for that. Could be during the transportation. Oh, and the moldy hot dog buns. Seriously, how many of you check the expiry date for buns? Outside: I don't know why management doesn't ask their employees to clean up after themselves after their cigarette breaks. No matter which way you enter: whether from the south doors near the picnic tables OR the north door near the bus benches on the north side, you always walk through a plume of 2nd hand cigarette smoke. Hold your horses there you lung-dart enthusiasts..... I'm not saying you can't smoke.... but don't smoke so close to an entrance, especially in SB where most of its citizens are above 65 an likely dragging a cannister of O2. But I digress, if you're going to smoke, pick up your trash, including napkins, bottles, cigarette butts, etc...... The inside of the store is very clean but outside the store reminds me of the waiting area of a towing yard. Oh, and watch out for the homeless guy who sleeps in the bushes in the northeast corner of the parking lot. Whatever you do, don't get a whiff of him. The combination of lack of bathing and urine is not very appealing. The only reason they got 2 stars is because it's conveniently close to where I live and you know me..... I just wanted to say that when I asked Jasen who was in the produce area, he went above and beyond my expectations of friendly customer service. He was 100% on board with helping me. Let me tell you how refreshing it is. Customer service is hard to come by these day, especially in big chain stores. But Jasen really took the time to answer my questions. And even help me carry everything out to my car. He's exceptional and I left the store in a better mood because of his helpfulness! Thank you Jasen! Pavilions is a great version of Vons (Safeway). A bit more gourmet offering (with the associated pricing), but otherwise all of the same excellent offering as the main store brand. The Just for U program is a nice addition to the regular rewards club. The only downside is that they refuse to accept competitors coupons while other stores will do this. read more

I usually go to the Pavillions near me but saw this one otw home from dinner. This one is a little bit smaller but thats ok. Clean facility.... got to the register, n the cashier was rude. I looked at her name tag, she was a supervisor. Too bad it took me awhile to write this review cuz i forgot her name. She was stuck up too, n had no customer service skills. She didnt even greet us when my husband and I got to the register. Prior to our turn, we gave enough space for the person ahead of us so he can use the credit card terminal. Dude... we all like to have our space so of course i was a few feet away from the guy ahead of me. But the cashier/supervisor rudely said, he needs to use the terminal. I kindly said okay. After she finished helping the customer ahead of me, she just rang me up and didn't say anything at all. I brought my own bags and put it with my items so they can bag them. She didnt even bag my items, my husband had to do it. Wtf... I will still return to Pavillions but not to this location. read more

Better version of Von's. Great selection of most things. They seem to always have a great selection of organic and exotic fruit as well. I can get most things I need here and is never overly busy. It's right across the street from my house so this place has been my grocery store of choice for the last few years. The staff is always pretty friendly and very very clean store. They have great operating hours as well. I get surprised sometimes going there really late or early to find them open. Definitely better than Ralph's and Whole Foods in my opinion. Whatever they don't have I drive down the street to Traders or Whole Foods as a last resort. read more

This review is regarding deli. The rotisserie chicken read dry and over cooked. The fried chicken too crispy, the grilled chicken was too spicy and over cooked. I got a piece of cheese at $24/lb it was delicious but$24/lb?!!! I bought a few items in the cold deli that were to gross to eat. I am writing this review because I just picked up a sandwich in the deli and was very very impressed. The young man working the area is named Justin, and he is a rare example of someone who takes pride in their work. It may just be a sandwich but he took time to separate the meat and the ingredients and put it together so that not only it looked great but tasted sensational. I've picked up sandwiches there before and like Subway or any other place they just slap the meat on the bread and put zero effort into creating anything delicious or special... he did and I am hopeful his manager will read this because he is appreciated by this customer. read more

Unbelievable how rudely I was treated by Randi, the woman in charge of self-check out. Everyone else in the store could not have been nicer. She chastised me for being in the wrong line because I had too many items for self check out. Absolutely no signs anywhere saying there was an item limit and the man in front of me had a full cart. When I explained I didn't know because there was no posting of this "rule", she told me I should know.. how would I? Like I said the 3 other employees I came across where kind and helpful. I understand checkout workers are very stressed during this difficult time, but my checkout lady was extremely rude. Evidently Pavilions is discouraging folks from bringing their own bags to the store now due to the virus. Ok, I can understand that, but my checkout worker screamed at me for putting my bag on her conveyor belt, told me that I needed to remove the bags immediately and bag my own groceries because they weren't touching my bags. She was upset that she then had to spray down the conveyor belt due to my bags being brought from home. Like I said, I get it, but one doesn't need to communicate in such a nasty, belittling tone. I was really sorry that I had inadvertently inconvenienced her, as I didn't realize reusable bags are now off limits in the new normal. A little courtesy could have gone a long way. Long Beach raised their sales taxes, so all my East LB friends turned me on to this Seal Beach location. Good bakery, good parking, produce is fresh, lower taxes. Also there's a pharmacy in the mall, so one-stop shopping. Cashiers have all been competent, though I see some funny reviews of a sloth-like cashier on Yelp. read more

They also have a good amount of gluten free and healthy options that I'm always on the look out for at prices that won't break the bank. It's definitely my go to neighborhood supermarket. This Pavillions is very nice and right off PCH. It never seems crowded and they have two sizes of carts, Normal big and these cute little black half size ones for when you have two much for a basket and to little for the big carts ( more places need these). This Pavillions just opened after being closed for a year due to a ground up construction job. I think the people of Seal Beach would have probably been happy with any old grocery store but they outdid themselves with this gorgeous market. They even brought back quite a few of the previous staff. They have an amazing wine and cheese section to boot. Zoomer, their liquor manager is quite knowledgeable and has made some fantastic wine suggestions. For being a big chain brand it has such a friendly family feel to it. I love this store! read more

They have a great selection and the store's clean, but it's over-priced, even for the OC. Their Von's affiliate across town charges $3 less for a dozen roses; 30 cents/lb less for bananas. Often out of quarts of milk, forcing customers to buy a more expensive half-gallon. Much worse is their 'Thumbs on the Scale' deli trick: ask for a half-pound of cheese/cold cuts, and it's usually a couple of ounces over. (Sometimes they ask if it's ok, sometimes not.) Figure 50 cents per 'overage' times at least 100 such incidents a day...that's a tidy profit. Many grocery deli's are guilty of this, but it's especially true of this Pavilion's. read more
