What a gem! I've driven past this place many times, but little did I know what an amazing, undiscovered place it was. Somewhat hidden just off Keystone, it's a great little place with cheap drinks, cheap food, a good atmosphere, and a really great outdoor area. I drank two decently big margaritas and a Corona for about $13, and that wasn't by far the cheapest way to drink. They have a really large menu, and as I mentioned before, the food is cheap and looks very high quality. Our service was kind of bad on this particular night, but I don't blame the pub, it was definitely more of our waitress. The outdoor seating is amazing! A huge patio with lots of tables for sitting and you can trade your driver's license in order to play cornhole out on this really incredible playing area. The playing area is a large concrete patio with picnic tables, a bar, benches, cornhole sets when gotten, and even drink holders to hold your drinks while you play! I was really impressed with it. This is my go to place when I have a craving for bar food. This divey bar is one of the many hidden gems of Indy. It's small and the staff has always been accommodating and friendly. Now onto the food... On Tuesday and Saturday evenings they have The Big Pawn. This is a pork tenderloin sandwich dressed as a Big Mac. This sandwich is the epitome of all pork tenderloins. It's crispy and juicy, smothered with special sauce, cheese, lettuce, onion and pickles all between a sesame seed bun. Another favorite is the black bean burger. Now I want everyone to know that I am not a vegetarian... I tried to be once and didn't even last a week! But their black bean burger is full of flavor and works particularly well on their Black and Blue Broker burger. It starts with a shun dry rub, then bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion and is slathered with a creamy blue cheese sauce. Tots, sweet potato fries, onion rings or straws are my side of choice. We went for lunch today and had horrible service. We left without eating. There were 4 people in our party. All 4 of us asked for water and the waitress only brought out 3. We had to ask her 3 times before she got us the 4th water. Our waitress finally took our order. We all ordered off the menu and no one did anything special to their orders. I even ordered the cheeseburger and fries (which was the Saturday special.) After waiting almost an hour, I walked up to the waitress station at the end the bar to check on our order. Apparently, the kitchen didn't even have our order!! The waitress blamed the kitchen for losing the order. Quite frankly she was a terrible waitress, so I'm not even sure she turned it in. Two other parties at nearby tables left without ordering (that should have been a big clue to us.) Two of the people in our party had to be at work at 3:00, so we ended up leaving as well. Great beer cheese soup, spinach melts, and breaded tenderloin. From a friend (and former Pawn Shop Pub employee) "same bar setup, same mirrors, bar decor, even the same picture in the women's restroom " ... they failed to bring the grease from the old location (good). So, I'm a breaded tenderloin enthusiast. No matter where we are, if it's in the menu, I'm ordering it. Breaded Tenderloins are my jam. (My husband is the same way when it comes to EggsBenedict) Anyway, I usually walk away disappointed. This is Never the case at the Pawn Shop Pub. Hands down, best breaded tenderloin in the city. It's all about the batter/breading. It's so fantastically seasoned. And the cut of pork is very good. It's also huge. My daughter and I will usually split one, and it's more than enough for the two of us. The onion rings are also lovely, and are battered just like the tenderloin. The ranch dressing is made in house and is very good. Of course, being a Hoosier, I put that s**t on everything. If you find yourself on an Indiana Breaded Tenderloin tour, don't count out the Pawn Shop. They are more than just a contender. They win the gold medal. read more

You really don't know how this hurts. Our favorite dive pub in Indy and this is absolutely the worst experience we have ever had 'anywhere ever'. --and it was all due to one person and management/owner (always thought of him highly) not understanding how bad it was. This was during the holidays and I haven't been able to shake it, not been back, & think it has to be told. We had out of town guests from MI and CA for the holidays. We wanted to share our fav dive and one of them loooves tenderloins which CA doesn't have so off we went. When our server/bartender came up as we relocated our guest 'politely asked' if there was any way to turn the music down just a little. He looked at our guest 'very angry' and bluntly said NO. Well OK. We ordered drinks and they were terrible (never ever happens here) along with this guys terrible attitude. When he started to take our orders he was 'extremely' rude to each of us with 'no' reason. After a couple of orders we were all in disbelief at his actions. (one guest is extremely easy to please and her mouth was hanging open) So I guess I was staring at him because of all this and he turned to me and said "what are 'u' staring at?" He finished taking our orders and we all were quiet and staring at each other. So trying to give another chance, I went up to the owner (since he was the only other person there & we know him) who was chatting w/friends at the bar, and said can you take over and wait on us? He asked why and I explained how the bartender was rude beyond belief. He listened but didn't give any indication that he was coming to take over. At that time the bartender was standing close by talking to a new customer, and their conversation was: Customer kindly said what's going on? Bartender said, I don't know but that bitch has caused trouble since she got here! Wow--- When I returned, I said, "if we're going to walk, we should do it now and definitely will enjoy our time somewhere else." All quickly agreed. As we were putting on our coats the owner came over and I said that's ok, we're going to Binkleys. He seemed sorry, but it was way beyond redemption!!! read more

First time here and I was like wondering what the draw is. We went to the bar to get a drink and they didn't have the first few drinks we wanted, but we made do with what they had. The staff here seems friendly enough and you get a homey feeling from the sincerity they give you. The portion sizes on all the meals was bigger than most places. All the customers seem to know you here, very friendly environment. Corn hole out back and a nice patio on the east side of the building so it is shady. The food here is just "ok". Edit: 5/16/17 On top of the food being just ok, the service staff is less then "ok". It was really bad today. When I got my beer and poured it into my glass, my friend realized it had a multitude of what looked like little white light weight rocks floating throughout the beer. I waited, poured the rest of the beer, and the little white rocks never dissolved and remained. I went into the bar area looking for my server, but had to talk to the bartender instead. It was a man that was incredibly rude. I set my beer down on the bar and told him there was something wrong with it. After a long pause of him obviously not knowing how to problem solve, he treated me like I was the one with the problem and that the beer was normal. He didn't even really look at the contents of the glass before dumping it out, told me they were just bubbles, and was so extremely standoffish that I'm really surprised he's still employed. I decided to leave the place immediately. The waitress was equally as rude when I finally saw her and let her know we were only paying for one of the beers. "Sediment is normal" she said while walking away from me. I've had lots of beer and those floating things were not normal. FYI bartender manchild and rude waitress, white rock like floating things are NOT NORMAL in a bottled Oberon. Neither is treating me like I'm the one that messed up the beer... This is one of my most favorite places to eat and/or grab a drink. They have a handful of craft beers on tap and they make a pretty good Bloody Mary. The black and bleu burger is just insanely delicious. And the waffle fries and onion rings are killer. I've never regretted anything I have ordered here. The atmosphere is great. Just very laid back, casual. The patio is a nice place to sit on a warm day and they even have cornhole set up behind the building. Everyone on staff is super friendly. Love the Pawn Shop! read more

I could give this establishment....no, this institution enough stars. What can I say. The food here is fantastic. The atmosphere is fantastic. Everyone is friendly and if you go more than a few times they know your name and remember what you drink. The prices are about the same as most fast food places only the quality of food is so much better. I would say they have the best onion rings in Indianapolis, if not in all of Indiana. If you're a fan of onion rings you should get to The Pawn Shop and try theirs. I was told about the onion rings before I went so expectations were high, and they managed to impress anyway. The batter is delicious and has just the right amount of crunch. The onions aren't stringy so you don't have to worry about pulling half an onion out of its sheath prematurely. A buddy I was with said the club sandwich is good also, and the beer specials can be nice if you catch them on the right day. The burgers were also hyped before I tried them but all 3 burgers at my table were overcooked by a lot. They have a lot of TVs so wherever you sit you'll have a view of one, but on game day you'd better be a colts fan because they just have regular cable so they'll all be on the colts game. I've tried both and they are delicious. I am partial to their wings, which are crispy and their medium Buffalo sauce is awesome. Some friends and I hit this place up on a Friday. I heard that they were decently priced and we were not up for going to Broad Ripple but wanted to stay close. I'm guessing the kitchen was closed since we were not offered menus or anything but that was okay with us. We sat on the patio which was very nice. There was a wall of flower pots which were really unique. I was not loving the service. It was average and the server was not friendly at all. They were not busy for a Friday night which is nice if you are looking for somewhere quiet to go. They also cater to an older crowd so don't expect to hear anything but oldies. My husband tried to play some metal on the jukebox and it was skipped and turned down which I thought was a bit rude but hey.... the ship does it as well so I really can't complain. This is a great, friendly place. There are many regulars but they talk to anyone, regular or not. The menu seems like bar food in large part but there are some unique items. Their tenderloin is hand cut and hand tenderized, just the best. The burrito is more than a normal person can eat and the beef is very nicely spiced. Excellent. Onion rings are like nothing you can find around here, they are phenomenal. Mondays and Thursdays they have beer cheese soup and it's really good. The Bartenders are personable and very good; Sarah, Kelley, Megan, Jason and Josh. Cathy serving is very good as well. A fantastic neighborhood pub! We started our dinner with an order of Spinach Potato Skins, a very nice combination of their house spinach dip and crisp skins, with a side of sour cream. I then had a black and blue burger piled high with crisp bacon, and a generous amount of crunchy pickles. Delicious! My partner had their breaded tenderloin, fully loaded and it looked amazing. We upgraded our sides from chips to onion rings and waffle fries, respectively. Both were amazing. Well seasoned and crisp. Ok, so I did go into this place because a friend of mine worked there, but that's not why I'm writing this review. My boss and I had lunch, and of course Nikki waited on us. I ordered the Chicago Beef sandwich with a cup of their soup of the day which was a lobser bisque. The soup was great, rich, creamy, definityly NOT one of those boil in the bag soups that so many restaurants have. The Chicago Beef was big, meaty, cheesy and juicy. In other words, everything I expect in a sandwich. My boss had a 1/2 salad. It was the biggest 1/2 salad I have ever seen and not just lettuce. In fact, I could barely see the lettuce underneath all the avacodo, olives, bleu cheese and whatever else was on it. In other words, everything I expect in a salad. My wife had the classic cheeseburger which she loved, and I went with the big pawn, which was essentially a big mac but with a tenderloin as opposed to beef. All in all, the food and drinks are cheap, and the waitstaff is great. Meagan could not be nicer and always accommodates our requests. But until the other night, this place had kind of slipped my mind. A friend suggested it, so we stopped by for dinner and I'm so glad we did! We decided to try to fish and chips, and the fish was so perfectly fried and delicious, we ended up ordering more! I also had the sandwich that had spinach dip on it that was mighty tasty as well. Servers are friendly and they have plenty of drink options (I mean, it IS a bar). My mom and I have been going here pretty regularly for a few years. My mom was a regular back at its old College Ave. location and brought me there when I turned 21. I've always enjoyed my food here. It's a neighborhood bar that appears to cater to a slightly older crowd - but then again, I've only ever been there during the daytime, so I can't speak to the nights-and-weekends crowd. It's pretty low-frills, which I like. The Pawn Shop has great food and drink specials every night of the week. We are particular fans of the Thursday night $3 wine special. I usually get one of the Honey Wheat sandwiches, which are delicious and HUGE - I only eat half and bring the rest to work the next day. But their burgers, chili, wings, and spinach potato skins are really good as well. The servers are attentive. There is one older lady who my mom and I especially like. She does a great job, and I believe she has worked there for years. We had a memorial event at the Pawn Shop back in June for my late father. The staff was very helpful and accommodating to a relatively large crowd of my dad's biker friends.
