Paws into Grace made every step of this heartbreaking process easier than I ever could have imagined. I first spoke with Erica, then called back and spoke with Melissa, both were incredibly kind and comforting as I realized Teddy needed to go sooner than I had hoped. Teddy and I had just returned home from visiting his favorite spots so he could take in the familiar smells one last time. Dr. Benson arrived right on time, gently pulled her car in behind mine, and gave me an oral medication to help Teddy feel calm. He lay peacefully and didn't even lift his head when Dr. Benson lovingly massaged his neck and quietly administered the sedative. He was actually snoring when it came time to shave his leg and administer the final medicine. I was able to tell Teddy what a good boy he was as he took his final breaths. After he passed, I let the tears flow, but the sadness was quickly softened by the comfort of knowing that, in return for all the love and joy he gave me, I was able to give Teddy the most peaceful and loving send-off possible! One of the hardest things in life is having to let go of your best friend. This is one of the most difficult reviews that I've ever written - but if you have to make that decision - THIS is the way to do it. My beloved Rob Roy is gone, and I'm just on autopilot in life now. He was really the reason I started this whoewhole Yelp thing - just looking for dog friendly restaurants and things to do. He was in more photos than me! But in the last two years, our walks became shorter and shorter, the assists more frequent, and after 15 years, his little heart was just going. I just knew when I looked into his eyes that he was doing his best just to hold on for me. He was struggling through his day just to be near me. I called 'Paws into Grace', and Roxanne was able to explain everything and understand me through the sobs. Dr. Johnson showed up right on time and took his time with us. It's a two shot process - one to calm your friend so that you can say goodbye - and the second shot to remove all his pain in this life. Dr. Johnson then carried away my best best friend so gently. This was such a better experience than having to take him to the veterinarian. Robbie was able to find peace in his home and not the chaos of some foreign, sterile office. Roxanne, Dr. Johnson, and Eddie were absolutely tremendous. They even informed my vet of Robbie's passing (both businesses sent Sympathy cards). If it wasn't for Robbie - it would not have made so many Yelp friends throughout the years. And I appreciate all the well-wishes. Courtney was the Veterinarian who came to our home, she was so compassionate and comforting to us and chippy, and made a very difficult process easier for everyone. Courtney told us exactly what would be happening and when, she was very sweet and loving toward Chippy and I am certain made him feel loved. We were able to be there with him and love him as he slowly and gently went to sleep for the last time. Courtney was also very professional and excellent technically in administering the medications to Chippy. At a very rough time for our family, we had to put our cat, Geo, age 17, down last week. Geo had stopped eating, and we had been coaxing her with her favorite foods to bribe her. When that didn't do the trick, we took her into the vet who, after the stress of sedating and diagnosing, may not have been able to fix the issue. We decided that the best option would be to put her down in our home where she would be at peace. When Dr. Caroline Seitz arrived, I was barely holding it together. Dr. Caroline explained the process and gave us as much time as we needed. We were able to sing Geo's favorite song, told her what a good cat she was for us, and she sat on a pillow on my lap while we petted her. Afterward. Dr. Caroline wrapped her in a fuzzy blanket, and I got to take my time carrying her to the car where I placed her on a beautiful, warm car bed. I didn't order any ashes to be returned as I feel that our photos and memories with her would be enough. We were told that she would be cremated and her ashes sprinkled from a boat off of Oceanside. I take comfort in this, and I truly appreciate the time, care, and compassion that Dr. Caroline provides. This cannot be an easy job, and she is providing such a wonderful service. This was our second time having Paws Into Grace out to our house and both experiences were as good as they could be. I called yesterday morning to make an appt; it was going to have to be around 6pm with an after-hours surcharge, which I was OK with. I told the first person I spoke with, Rebecca, that we would be home and available all day, so if there was a cancellation we would be interested. Rebecca called a bit later and booked us for an earlier appt, which we were very pleased with, so we could be outdoors in the sun. I can't remember the name of the vet that came out a couple years ago, but yesterday we had Dr. Julie Brown. Both were great: very informative, compassionate, and just very, very kind and patient. You know they have somewhere else to be after you, but you never feel rushed. Who wants to review such a sad experience? Well, Paws into Grace made this sad experience the best it could be. Dr. Toni was super calming not only for my Ruby, but for my other pets as well. Ruby gets very nervous and shakes when she goes to the vet, but with Dr. Toni she was calm and comfortable, which is what you would want for her last minutes alive.
