This is such a difficult call to have to make but Paws Into Grace makes it as easy as possible. I was devastated to have to put my girl down and called around 5am when she took a turn for the worse and knew it was time to let her rest. Although there were some other options that might have cost less, they didn't have nearly the array of beautiful memorial options to choose from, and I really felt like this was money well spent. From initial phone call, to euthanasia, to picking up his ashes and memorial items, the whole experience was very gentle and respectful. If I'm ever in need of the same services, I'll definitely choose Paws into Grace again. My cat took a rapid turn for the worse the evening before, and it was time to put him to sleep. I didn't want to have him put to sleep in an unfamiliar/stressful environment like the vet office or ER vet, so I called first thing in the morning and they were able to squeeze me in that day, although their website recommends scheduling a bit sooner if you can. Dr. Hoffman arrived on time and didn't rush me with anything. She took time explaining the process to me, discussed what I wanted for cremation and memorial items, and gave me time for all of my questions. She did a great job of telling me what to expect as my cat passed. Particularly helpful was knowing that if he had a couple jerky movements afterwards, this was normal. This did happen, and because I knew to expect it, I wasn't stressed out by it. She did a wonderful job of answering my million questions and things that popped into my head afterwards, as well as helping me with clipping off a couple whiskers and a bit of fur to remember him by. She really gently helped me to wrap him up in the blanket and let me carry him out to her car to say my final goodbyes. I felt like everything was as peaceful as could be, I was given all the time that I needed, and my precious cat was treated with respect. As far as memorial items I was overall quite pleased. I really like the paw print that comes included with cremation, and I ordered silicone impressions of all 4 paws + his nose, as well as a couple extra fur clippings. The only feedback I have for the fur clippings is that they didn't seem to capture his full range of colors; I think they got some fur from just one spot that has his medium color, whereas his tail and belly had other colors. The acacia urn with his name engraved is really beautiful. I liked it so much that I ordered a matching urn for his sister who passed years before, and when it arrived it was also beautiful, but unfortunately not quite the perfect match I had hoped for because that urn arrived as a smaller size. I should've thought about it and gave them the dimensions, -- I just didn't realize there were different sizes. It still looks nice. Everyone one there I talked to on the phone ( Danielle & Kelly from the Client care team ) were both so gentle, calm and caring for me as I was having trouble talking about ( due to crying ) scheduling a home euthanasia for our boy Axle. On the day of the appointment Dr. Toni Calomfirescu was the same as the other members of their staff. What a wonderful service. To schedule an appointment the next day, make sure you call no later than 4pm. Unless you're scheduling for after hours which would be an additional fee. After 5 would be considered after hours. Same day service will depend on who's available in your zip code. If your pet happens to pass within the 2 hour time frame then the doctor will still come to collect your pet and you get charged the fee. If your pet pass more than 2 hours then call or leave a message to cancel your appointment. Leave your pet in a cool area and arrange for pick up or drop off. They are located in Escondido. I had no choice but to request after hours because I didn't want my dog to suffer any longer. They gave me a time which I thought was too soon and asked for an extension. I'm grateful to have my time pushed back to spend more time with my fur baby. The packages was discussed over the phone. You get charged for the in-house call fee, then choice of private or communal cremation, and $10 up charge for paying with credit card. The cremation fee included choice of one of the 4 urn boxes, clay paw print or ornament, and a fur clipping. Expect to pay at least $480 and up depending on what you selected. They also offer private view before the cremation for additional. Dr. Toni arrived on time. She was gentle, allowed us time to say farewell and walked us through the entire process. The whole process took an hour which included paper work. She had blankets to wrap him up and placed him in a doggy bed for transport. My dog passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones at the comfort of his own home. So grateful for this service. I just wished after hours wasn't after 5 because it was an addition $175. 7 to 7 would be nice and have doctors work three 12 hour shifts instead of five 8 hour shifts like in hospitals. We requested Dr. Caroline Seitz as she worked at the veterinary hospital where we took Jake since he was a pup and she had cared him over the years. She arrived to find us giving Jake as many treats as his stomach could handle while crying through it all. She was so compassionate and understanding, patient as we showered him with hugs before the procedure and gentle as she explained exactly what would happen and how it would play out. Her calming demeanor and soft voice (to us and Jake) while it was happening did help us from completely falling apart in the moment. Once it was done, she stepped outside and gave us time to say our final goodbyes. When she returned, she introduced us to the tech that would carry our boy out to the van. This process too was very respectful to us and our boy in every way. About two weeks after it was done, we received a text letting us know that his remains were ready to come home. When we picked them up, the person that presented them to us was again kind and understanding in this emotional moment. The remains were in the lovely wooden urn we had chosen with his name and dates on the top of it. We also received a clay paw print and a tuft of hair in a small glass vial.
