Cutest hotel, dog friendly Amazing attention to details, The room is so cute. It has separate doggy house in the room w doggy bowl. I'm afraid to post a reviews because it will be popular and the prices go up. Location is great a few blocks from the Main Street where all the restaurants n bar are. The grab n go breakfast ya excellent! Fresh made. Great selection.

Very dog friendly inn. This inn was updated about 4 years ago. All new doggy themed rooms. Excellent full breakfast. We had a couple of minor hiccups. The inn keeper was very attentive and took care of them right away. This is an old inn. So the walls are thin. They do offer ear plugs for light sleepers. The location is perfect. Walking distance to everything! Free off street parking as well.

We had such a great experience at Paws on Pelham! Ashley assisted us with the check in and was so thorough and friendly! She suggested a dinner location that was dog friendly as most dog friendly dining places were closed for the season. We were in room 5 and it was so cutely decorated and perfectly clean. Our puppy LOVED the built in dog houses that she didn't even go in her crate for bed! The lobby area had extra pee pads, poo bags, and treats as well as games for humans and guides to Newport. The breakfast in the morning was a good continental selection and we were able to use the trays to bring food outside and eat with our pup. Overall, we had such a nice stay and are excited to come back in the summer time!

Just experienced a stay that was spot on for a stay with our aging German shepherd. As advertised, breakfast was included in our rate and it was beyond our expectations. Delicious fresh cooked meals with selections of fresh fruit and pastry. Gluten free accommodation was provided happily. Kathi greeted us on arrival and could not have been more welcoming. Our afternoons on the porch with snacks in the sun were enjoyed by us and our pup.

This was the perfect stay for us and our pup!! The staff is so welcoming and there's a lot more privacy than expected. You access the inn and your room with a code - very easy! The grab and go breakfast every morning was actually really good! We didn't know what to expect but everyday of our stay was different and tasty. There's 24/7 coffee as well with an espresso machine that makes lattes, cappuccinos, etc. This was a fun surprise and a great way to start our mornings while we took our pup on her AM walk. Speaking of, there's a park just down the street which is perfect for a dog friendly inn. Lots of seating outside too if you want to sit and relax or have dinner. This inn is walkable to everything from the cliff walk to downtown. We will absolutely be staying here again! 20/10.

We stayed with our dog in late January into the beginning of February and it was the best dog friendly hotel experience we've ever had. Breakfast was delicious (and far better than the "free included" breakfast available at the big chain hotels). The room was very comfortable as was the bedding, and our dog, who usually takes a few days to adjust to any new place, made herself at home there within the first few minutes. The only very slight complaint I had was that the room was a little warmer temperature than I'd like. They use steam radiators to provide a base level of heating and then there are individual split heat pump units in the rooms that provide additional heating. We left those units turned off and the room was still slightly warmer than I'd prefer. I know those steam radiators are tough to get balanced but I'd suggest setting the temperature for them just a bit cooler in the winter than they had it set. If we ever need to stay in Newport again this will be the first place I'll look to book accommodation.

We had reservations for room #12 (1 king bed, 1 queen bed, 1 dog house) for Friday and Saturday night of the long Memorial Day weekend. Allison contacted me Thursday to see what time we would be arriving and to see if we had any dietary restrictions (for breakfast). On Friday Allison sent us the check in information and let us know where there parking was located and which spot was ours. The Inn itself is beautiful and well maintained. I found my king bed to be comfortable and I appreciate that they gave us 4 huge pillows on each bed, so comfy! The grab and go breakfast (due to Covid) was a good mix of fruit, oatmeal, yogurt and juices and having trays made it easy to transport the food up to the room or out to one of the patios. My dog absolutely loved the place and that it was steps to the local park where he could do his business but also meet lots of other pups. This is the perfect place if you have two needs: In Newport and dog friendly!

This is our second stay at Paws on Pelham. We stayed here two years ago during covid and it was amazing but this time is the opposite. We arrived and had parking issues. Parking space was not available, called the Inn keeper twice since the back-up space wasn't available either. Eventually had it resolved. The worst was the loud portable AC unit. We booked this hotel six months back and wasn't notified prior to our arrival that the rooms AC was broken and they had replace it with a ridiculous loud AC unit. We had no problem using it during the day but the night time it's impossible to sleep. I contacted the company and they said there's nothing they can do and refuse to refund any amount of the stay. I can tell you we will never stay here ever again. After driving 10 hours from Virginia, all we wanted is a nice place to sleep. We can't even get that. No substitute or support was provided by the staff.

    Front porch. Cutest decor.

What a great place to stay in Newport! It is conveniently located 5-7 min walk from the wharfs and shopping and about a mile from the cliff walk/eastons beach. We had such a wonderful stay and the staff was so welcoming!

Came for a weekend in September and stayed in room #5 (with the 2 doggy house). The hotel is so charming and quaint. more of a b&b than a hotel. Alissa the innkeeper was extremely nice and accomodating from start. she touched based with me before my trip and checked in while I was enroute. the room came with 1 reserved parking spot but she was kind enough to let my friend use the innkeeper's spot as well. Due to covid, the free breakfast was grab n go. they feed you ALOT of food. the location of this hotel is within walking distance to downtonw newport. also there is a nice park 1 block towards the opposite direction. Overall, it was just a very comfortable homey feeling at this hotel and this will be our homebase the next time we return.

The cutest little dog-friendly inn! If you're looking to stay in downtown Newport with your pups- check out Paws on Pelham. This is in the heart of downtown- walking distance to great local shops, restaurants, and views of Newport harbor. Don't let "dog-friendly" scare you away... this inn is spotless. Another awesome perk- there is a rooftop deck to enjoy an evening cocktail and enjoy stunning views over Newport. We will definitely be back!

This hotel was adorable and nothing less than 5 stars. The historic vibes mixed with the immaculate modern touches was just fabulous!! The inn keeper was super nice and reachable by text and the room was spotless.I stayed in room 5 where someone wrote a negative review about the noisy a/c and it didn't bother us at all. This structure was built in the 1800s and people need to understand that sometimes things are not perfect. We didn't mind the white noise and the room was very comfortable temperature wise. They offer a complimentary to go breakfast and 24/7 coffee which is nice because you don't see anything complimentary nowadays. My Frenchie loved it and so did we. We will definitely be back for our newly annual dog Newport trip!

    Doggo!

My husband i and visited Newport for our 15 year wedding anniversary and stayed at Paws on Pelham. Allison, the innkeeper, was waiting for us on the porch when we arrived and, with a huge smile and wave, welcomed us home for the long weekend. We stayed in room 5 and our bulldog, Roxie, made herself right at home. The three breakfasts we had during our stay were filling and SO good! Allison really went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. I appreciated that we had codes to all the doors so we could come and go as we pleased an we rarely heard another guest, or dog, even though the B&B had most, if not all, the rooms booked this weekend. We will absolutely be back if (and when) we visit Newport again. Thank you, Allison!!!

It's a great spot for a drink especially in the summer time. Our recent visit on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, was not great. Despite it being a warm summer evening around 8 PM on a Wednesday, we were turned away because one person in our party wore a t-shirt instead of a collared shirt. For a midweek outing in August, that felt unnecessarily rigid and to be honest a little too pretentious. Although we can understand enforcing dress codes on weekend nights this seemed out of touch. We ended up at Thames Street Kitchen and Audette instead, both of which did not have strict dress codes. We parked in the front and unloaded the cars easily. We did not use valet, the Marriott lot was $48 a night. Walking to the lot next door took about 2 minutes. Valet guys are all nice and open the doors for you 98% of the time. Had I known the museum was free Wednesdays, I would have chose the vineyard tickets instead. You also get $20 per room to use at the bar/restaurants as well as 2 bikes to rent. We checked into connecting balcony rooms. The rooms were clean but the balcony doors were hard to open. You have to pull it back really hard before unlocking it. The beds were comfortable. There are no microwaves but I called in to request one for the room. The first night I went to skiff bar to order some food and use our 2 $20 food credits. I ordered oysters and coconut shrimp. The oyster appetizer was terrible... the oysters flesh was tiny, totally not worth it. The next morning we had the hotel buffet for $32 a head. Omelet station was good. We had a great experience with Peter, the Attwater's Front Desk Manager. Not only did he call us prior to check in to see if he could assist with anything we would need, he also upgraded us from the small Queen room that we had booked to the spacious Lark Suite, their largest accommodation. The suite had a gas fireplace, soaking tub, and gorgeous seating area with a dining table and several cozy couches and armchairs. We were super grateful for his hospitality, and even when we had a minor issue with the heating system in the room not lowering, Peter assisted us in the morning and generously offered vouchers for a future night stay. Thank you for your attention to detail and hospitality! I also LOVED the fact that the Attwater offers hot items in their included breakfast. We stay at a lot of small bed and breakfasts as stay and vacations, and one can only have so many cranberry muffins or glazed croissants. It really took the stay to the next level, and as a couple that stays at several B&Bs and small hotels, it did not go unnoticed! We can't wait for our next chance to visit :)

There aren't many modern hotel options at this price point in this area. Many lodging options are…read moreinns and B&Bs in colonial buildings, but we were looking for something modern and sleek along the waterfront. (Sorry to be that person!) I loved the location of this hotel and the clean lines of the common spaces and rooms. However the $45 valet parking fee is ridiculous at the end of the season (10/28). Offer a self service option for half that - but, oh, wait, UPP owns the hotel lot too, as well as pretty much all parking in Newport. Certainly there were a lot of hotel amenities missing at this price point as others have mentioned (very small gym, and no coffee makers, no microwave, no mini fridge in room (nor safes), but also the daybed was dusty and the TV lacked options, which may have been ok, but I couldn't even mirror my own device/streaming service to the TV. Ideally you're not in your hotel room when in Newport, but if you're here for work and need some down time, those are all minuses. If you don't plan to spend much time in your room and don't mind paying $45 for parking, this is a decent option for its location.

Unlimited bottle water in the "gym". Umbrellas available, as it rained the entire weekend here. A bottle of wine in our room to commemorate our anniversary. Free limited breakfast daily delivered to your door. Helpful staffed front desk.

The Mill Street Inn is now our go‑to lodging in Newport. From booking by phone to checking out, the staff was friendly and always available to help with questions. The goodie bag we received upon arrival was a nice touch, and everything inside was Rhode Island-made and delicious. While the bathroom was small, we preferred having the spacious sitting area, which was wonderful for relaxing and enjoying breakfast. We also appreciated the customizable breakfasts (beverage options, fresh bakery items, fruit, and protein choices) delivered to your room at your requested time. The rooms included unexpected but thoughtful touches such as coffee, tea, filtered water, quality toiletries, a magnified mirror, and cotton balls in the bathroom. Yes, the parking is tight and first-come, first-served, but they do offer complimentary parking--a treasured commodity in this part of Newport.
