Joe is a true professional and I couldn't be happier with his service call. He responded fast and he diagnosed my washing machine's problem right away while we were texting back and forth and setting up my appointment...which saved me the service call fee. He came out the next day and he texted me 30 mins prior to arrival...which ended up being exactly on time. I could tell right away that he was a down-to-earth kinda dude and that he likely had a lot of experience. After my dog ("Cooper" the Pit-Lab) came out to greet him, we ended up talking about dogs for probably 20 mins. He is a bigtime dog lover and will probably tell you all about his ol' boy Duke that passed away years ago (the beautiful German Shepard in his Yelp photos). Anyways, he got right to work and after doing some diagnosing, he determined what the problem was. We originally thought that our problem had to do with a blown water pump, but he explained in detail all the various reasons why that wasn't the case and he knew exactly what the real problem was...the "Electronic Spin Unit". He replaced our broken one with a replacement part that he had stocked in his work van and within a matter of minutes, this old machine that had sat in my garage for nearly a decade, had now come back to life. I was practically in shock...because this old machine is SO MUCH better than the "High Efficiency" POS that I've been using for the past decade. His prices were fair and he was professional and easy to deal with. He has been working in this industry for a long time and he seems to know these washing machines (and probably all other appliances) like the back of his hand. There are probably some other good repairmen out there too but there's a whole lot of "sheisters" in Vegas as well, so finding an honest repairman is a valuable score. If you're on the fence, I would say just go with Joe. Shoot him a text and then he'll probably end up trying to diagnose your problems over the phone and then he'll give you a quote on what it costs to fix. His rates were very reasonable and I walked away paying $175 to have my oldschool Whirlpool NO-NONSENSE washer come back to life, instead of being forced to go out and buy some "High Efficiency" modern CRAP! I was about to fork out $1,500 for a Speed Queen TC5, but thanks to Joe, I can now use that money for other things and maybe I'll get another 10 years outta this thing. Our upright Freezer was dead. I assumed the compressor because the light was still on. What do I know? I found Joe on Craigslist. The thing I liked on the ad was his offer to diagnose the problem over the phone. No costly service call! He listened to my story, had me take pictures of the freezer. He told me it was one of two things and that it was not the compressor! Yay! He had the part in stock for the one thing and would have to order the part for the second thing. He came out. It was the second thing. He ordered the part and the freezer was fixed in less than 24 hours! Joe isn't just knowledgeable, he is pleasant, too. Pleasant and efficient. The cost was reasonable I guess. I don't get my freezer fixed every month so I have no frame of reference. Seemed to be reasonable to me especially since most of these guys want $80 to just show up. I texted Joe at 7am with an emergency situation where my refrigerator had died. He responded immediately, and after sharing my Brand and Model, he immediately informed me that LG had a lawsuit for the faulty linear compressors and told me to call them and demand they fix it. He coached me all along, what to say to LG and demand they cover it. Even after LG first said they would only cover the parts, but not labor, Joe insisted I call them back and demand they cover the labor too. Dealing with LG was a nightmare, and I was about to give up. I had even purchased a new refrigerator. The day the new refrigerator was set to be delivered (a week after this nightmare began), by some stroke of luck and persistence, LG finally got back to me and agreed to cover the Labor as well as the Parts! So Joe encouraged me to cancel the new refrigerator, since they should understand my situation, and keep my old fridge, as with the new compressor it should last a long time. I have never even met Joe, he has not ever worked on any of my appliances, but he helped me as if he were a friend. Alright, as part of the Yelp Elite Squad, it's an obligation to the Yelp community to keep things truthful and professional so we can actually provide helpful reviews. I've tried to keep things unbiased and professional, but after Joe's response, man, reader beware--because they were all lies. This Yelp page has very contrasting reviews, so if you still choose to contact him, at least I tried to inform you. Unfortunately for Joe, the property owner is my best friend. I previously described my situation in a very professional manner because I was trying to be unbiased. I received screenshots of all exchanges between the owner and Joe. I can, in fact, attest that the owner was not pleased. Scheduling was a nightmare, especially when my friend explicitly instructed him to contact the tenants to schedule appointments. When Joe didn't show up, I tried to contact him with no response. My friend had to contact him for us--and he never even came that day. Not sure what he meant by overloading the dryer as we had run the machine without any laundry in it to check if it was fixed. I never asked for specific times, unless a two hour time frame is way too specific. And even if you are working another job that is running over time, maybe you should actually explain that and give the clients a heads up instead of lying that there was traffic. Every. Single. Time. The fact that he had to respond with false statements shows how unprofessional this business is. Maybe he's cheaper, but I really don't think a month-long headache is worth it. read more

My Goodness, there really are a lot of mean people in this world! Reading these reviews and looking at the man who just bent over backwards to help me... We can't possible be talking about the same "Joe". Recently my uncle passed away. We went to check on his property in LV and quickly noticed that his frig was not working. I called several different company's for a quote (4 of which came out) all said it was my frig compressor & Inverter. I decided to call 1 more company. Joe answers the phone and agreed to come over within hours of receiving my call. He did not charge me a cent to come out. He showed up, looked over the frig and gave his opinion on what needed to be fixed and a quote. No pressure, very humble and extremely honest. Something was very different about Joe though. We had a great feeling about him and his ability to do the job. Called him back right away - Joe was our man!! Here's the part that set Joe above the rest.. Remember when i said that everyone told us that it was my compressor? Well, it wasn't. Compressor worked just fine. Once the inverter was installed the compressor turn right on. Joe Calls me to give me the great news, only part that truly needed to be fixed was my invertor (a $900 savings) WOW!!! How awesome!!! Joe had a choice, he could have taken the money for a compressor & Invertor + labor and been on his merry way. Lets be honest, we would have never known the difference right - frig works now right- That's all we cared about. He was honest!!! That's the difference!!! Its a quality that is rare these days. READ ALL: We scheduled an appointment with Joe to show up after 2pm, based on his schedule that he requested. He no call no showed that day (no big deal). I then attempted to reach out several times with no response. Once I reached out to Rice Real Estate (the property management company), he then responded by calling me back and starting an argument over the phone for no reason. (Told me to 'Kiss his a$$' when I literally asked him to allow me the courtesy of finishing my sentence). He was indignant, rude, childish, and even went as far as to ridicule me for renting a house and not owning one. (I have the text exchange to prove it). I found this gentleman via Yelp. Our washer/dryer combo had suddenly started smoking. Joe came out right at the agreed time and was super helpful and knowledgeable. He evaluated the situation and made recommendations about what was the best thing to do for me, rather than trying to sell me anything. It turned out that with the amount of damage to the washer, though repair was possible, the most reasonable option was replacement. This was the option that didn't make Joe any money, but was the one he recommended regardless. He also discussed different replacement model options with me and the various places where they are sold. And, he gave advice on getting the old unit removed, if we needed to do so. As we go through life, we all have problems sooner or later. Some problems we can take care of ourselves and at other times you need help from someone else. So many times you call on people to solve your problems and you end up with more problems and a smaller bank account and of course retaining your original problem to boot. So it is with appliance repair. I am the manager of a 4-plex and of course we also have appliances that wake up one day and say "I am just plain tired of working so I think that I will take a nap"l. Well this occurs almost like clock work. Every couple of months I have a refrigerator, washer, dryer, stove or oven take a vacation. When I have a tenant that has a problem I don't waste anytime in getting service personal onsite. I have used many companies to come out and repair what is not working in one of our apartments. Most charge exorbitant service call fees and increase their profit margin on the parts they install to more than triple what the part cost them wholesale. In the end sometimes the repair is sufficient but half the time they don't know what they are doing and end up doing a half ass job. I am always with the service repair personal and can tell pretty quickly if they know what they are doing. I have over 50 years experience in the electrical and electronic field so I can speak with somewhat of an experts perspective. I can do much of the work myself but since the 4-plex is a commercial entity, I have to rely on a professional service. I have used Joe for maybe a good 6 years or so and have never been disappointed. He has never failed to repair an appliance. Sometimes it take more than one trip out for an intermittent condition but that is one of the most difficult situations to diagnose exactly what the faulty part is. Joe is almost always on time and if he is going to run a little late, he always calls to let me know. If he says 10:30 AM, you can bet your bottom dollar that he will be there and usually on the early side. We have some very old appliances in some of the apartments but Joe seems to have little difficulty in obtaining the parts that he needs to repair the problem unit. Most companies don't want to bother with the older appliances. I guess it is much easier to say "well it looks like you have a bad circuit board" instead of finding the guilty culprit using real trouble shooting techniques. Joe is an upstanding and honest person with very reasonable prices both on his service call fee and what he charges for the parts along with his charge for labor. When Joe arrives, he is ready to get down and dirty with the problem appliance. Joe does not leave you hanging and if there is going to be a delay such as in getting a part, he will promptly let you know. I have yet to see Joe to be unable to take care of a problem. With his many years of experience behind him, he has demonstrated time after time that he knows what he is doing. Of course some problems cannot be taken care of immediately because of part availability being on backorder. But this is not a reflection on Joe's ability to render proper professional service. I would definitely and without hesitation, recommend Payless Appliance Service to anyone needing to get their appliance up and running in a proper functioning state. Ronald Holmes read more
