I've been to Pazzo a couple of times now - once for a date night with my lady and more recently with a big group. The restaurant is spacious and welcoming. The servers are friendly and the food comes out quick. Highly recommend the bolognese which has no shortage of flavor and the chicken parm, which is pounded thin and is served hanging off the plate. Parking can be a pain in Red Bank but there is a parking garage conveniently located right next to the restaurant. Minor complaint but the music doesn't always fit the vibe - they were playing nonstop Michael Jackson on my first visit. Italian restaurants are a dime a dozen around here but this is one worth checking out. read more

Confusion at the hostess stand, needing to ask a couple of times to bring bread to the table after they brought the olive oil earlier. Bread was good though. The menu is just eh. A $20 salad made up of some arugula maybe 2 sliced strawberries a few sliced peaches, some walnuts and a ball of burata. Hoping to warn future guests. We have fond memories in this restaurant from a few years back, and are sad to be be nixing this off our list. Mid-meal, our table noticed a cockroach crawling up the wall behind us. When we flagged down the wait staff, they were un-phased, making it seem like a regular occurrence. They attempted to compensate by asking, "how about another round of drinks?" and laughing it off, as if additional alcohol would cure the situation. Someone from our own table had to get up and kill the roach. The entire experience was very uncomfortable. Our bill was received in full, including the extra round we did not ask for. Went to Pazzo last night. Wife has wanted to go there for years. Saw gift certs at Costco and decided to give it a shot. Beautiful restaurant. Hostess, bartenders and servers all very nice. Drinks were good. Food was mediocre. Bland and no flavor is how I would generally describe the food. Bread was ok. Olive in oil were good. We started with a Vodka pie to share. Super bland and No Flavor - no spices, no salt, no char. I am eating the leftover pizza as I type this - added salt, Italian seasonings and freshly grated cheese. It is better now. I then had pappardelle Bolognese - pasta was cooked very nicely, but sauce was SO BLAND and NO FLAVOR. Tastes like no seasoning was used. They put a scoop of Mascarpone on top. Not sure where they get it from, but it tasted like butter. Hard like butter too. Except butter would have more flavor to it. My wife did like her Pasta Primavera. She ordered a banana cheesecake for desert. I didn't share it, but she did not like it. Wife woke up all night long with food repeating - still bothering her today. This is a one and done. Let's start off with the hair in my cocktail, flat beer, and bug in my soup. 2 hours after sitting 4/8 people have received luke warm food. While the insane wait isn't the servers fault, not once has our server come to apologize or provide an update regarding the kitchen. We have been loyal patrons since Pazzo first opened. But recently we have noticed a significant decline in food quality. More specifically as a number of fellow Yelpers pointed out, dishes came out burnt. Here's the scallop appetizer we ordered, burned to a crisp. We sent the dish back and here's what it looked the second time, still burnt but we could at least discern that these were scallops not some black mess. It happened several times before with different dishes. For argument's sake, even if the chef strongly believes scallops are best enjoyed burnt black, when a customer returns the dish and asks for it to be not burned, as a chef at a fine dining facility, he should be able and flexible enough to accommodate that request. The only saving grace was the excellent service by the bar team. The bar was extremely crowded and all 4 of them were running non-stop, ensuring that all the customers had the best experience possible. read more

Their coffee also tasted like it was sitting there since 9 a.m. Their servers are kids; they don't know to ask if you want grated cheese for your dish and they didn't even clean off the appetizer dishes and then brought our meals to the table. While walking we happened upon this place. It was crowded but they were able to seat us at the very end of the restaurant outside at the building next door. Our original waiter disappeared like the wind that was whipping on this strange summer day. It was extremely gusty and I had goosebumps the entire time. I usually don't touch the bread but since the food took so long, I ate the whole thing. All the dishes were good but nothing to write home about. After all that waiting, they gave me the wrong order. I wanted the Polla Alla Pazzo. At this point, I didn't even want to complain and wait. We did enjoy the lovely Antipasto Misto. Can't go wrong with that. The clams in the linguine were teeny tiny. Ironic because I had gigantic ones the day before at another place. I was happy that they were able to make me a mocktail that was not on the menu, a Pazzo Punch. It was fruity and yummy. Service was excellent when they did showed up but slooooww! Walking past some tables as we were leaving, I noticed that their pizzas looked good. Maybe I should have ordered that instead. We will never step foot in this restaurant. Unfortunately, the food is excellent. This is the ONLY good thing about Pazzo. We stopped going years ago due to the slowness of the kitchen staff, We received a gift of a show at the Basie and dinner at Pazzo. We went on Sunday, May 5th. There were four of us. We arrived at 4:50 p.m., 10 minutes earlier than our reservation. We placed our order at 5:00 p.m. and waited and waited to be acknowledged. It took the waiter 10 minutes just to give us menus. Then the wait began. Dinner just wasn't coming. After speaking with the manager who supposedly "expedited" our dinner, we were served at 6:25 p.m. Our show, about a five-minute walk, began at 7:00 p.m. The waiter tried his best to serve us on time, but it just didn't happen. We finally asked for the manager, who said the orders would be out shortly. It took another 15 minutes for two orders to arrive. The other two orders came about 10 minutes later. It ruined our dining experience, and the manager did nothing for us other than to offer a feeble apology. We had to eat quickly in order to make the show, and we purposely advised the waiter that we had a show to make. We had no time for dessert, coffee, or tea. In the past, we've had to wait forever for our dinner at Pazzo, which is why we stopped going. If we didn't have the inclusive dinner with our show, we would have gone somewhere else. Several of our friends had the same negative experience. I don't know if the kitchen is too small for the number of tables they have, or if they are understaffed or just don't know how to manage big crowds on theater nights. Either way, we are done with Pazzo. It could be a good "go-to" place when visiting Red Bank, but they really miss the mark. The manager told us our server was on his first day, he told us the second. I ordered a Heineken came cold but no glass. For what's supposed to be a high end type no glass ? The server was very pleasant but not efficient. First course soup I ordered pasta fragioli my wife ordered the soup of the day, butternut squash. When I ordered I asked the server to please make sure it was very hot, it came cold. A side note the food runner asked who gets the soup of the day? He gave me the butternut squash. My wife asked for salt and pepper and a good 12-13 minutes went by letting her soup get cold. I had to ask for grated cheese. I did not have a good dinner experience here. When we were seated I noticed a large red stain on the tablecloth (blood? lipstick?). I mentioned it to the hostess who seated us, and she said nothing and walked away. Our appetizer was delicious, but our main courses never arrived. We were surrounded by flies (we were sitting inside), and we spent our evening shooing the flies away. They were gathering on the wall by us. After an hour of waiting for our entrees, my husband searched for our waiter, whom we hadn't seen in 40 minutes, to ask about the entrees. They weren't ready yet. Grossed out by the flies, we wanted to leave, so we asked for the check. To our dismay, we were charged for the flat beer that my husband ordered and sent back. Monday nights is 50% off pizza & pasta which is a great deal. The girls got 2 glasses of the Montepulciano which was a red wine that they really liked. Our server was Billy and while he was seemingly nice (came off very fake), something wasn't right. He seemed bothered by us, I couldn't figure it out. Then a HUGE pet peeve. At the end of the meal he hands me the check and points out how much the total would have been if everything was full price. Ok buddy, anything extra I was planning to tip is now gone. It clearly stated the total without the discount and I understand you should tip on the regular price, I've eaten out enough times. Major turn off and I'd imagine the restaurant owners wouldn't approve of him basically saying "make sure you tip me off of this amount." I decided to tip at 15% of the total before discount, but would have tipped 20% without that comment. I must say the person that was helping him (bringing bread, water, clearing plates) was awesome. Pazzo is a real classy place with upscale menu prices. 3 of us managed to get a $200 bill. That notwithstanding the meal was very good. We ordered mussels to start and they were delicious. Not frozen and mushy like I so often get especially this time of year (March). They were good and there were plenty of them. As an entrée I ordered the filet mignon (34.95). It was served with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The filet was excellent but it came out lukewarm and the potatoes were even cooler. I expect more for the price. Sausage and broccoli rabe orrecetta. I have never had other vegetables in this dish anywhere. It was orrecetta, sausage links cut up (not bulk sausage which is customary) chopped up broccoli rabe and a bunch of other vegetables really weird and watery. Wife's Branzino was okay. We had a table of eight on a Tuesday afternoon recently, and we had made reservations. Some of our adult family , tries to meet up every other month for lunch. We thought we would try this restaurant as it has good ratings and is located next to a parking garage, which is great in Red Bank. The restaurant was not that busy. The food was good, and the desserts were excellent, especially the tiramisu. The ambiance was very nice. The problem was the server. She simply did not want to be there. She gave us incorrect information about food preparation we had questions about, for instance, the sausage and pepper sandwhich. Was it in oil or marinara? She stated oil, and it had marinara on it when served. I did not say anything. It was good, but not what I was expecting. I asked for water 3 times and did not receive it. The expediter did bring the correct side dish after they brought the wrong one for one of the meals. The server disappeared for a lot of the meal, and she was not attentive at all. The other guests all agreed, she was not having a good day. We tipped 20% cash, as many of us have been in the restaurant industry. But she definitely did not make our experience a great one. Wow - time does fly by for sure, seven years since my last update for Pazzo and I'm happy to report that they are still on their game and Monday night is a great day to go as all pizza and pasta dishes are half price. Great happy hour selections and prices for food and drinks keep the bar tab down for sure. Sharing our food; caesar salad, baked clams oreganata, pappardelle bolognese and a nice bread service - everything delicious. All things considered, you would be hard pressed to find a better happy hour dining experience than the one provided here by Pazzo. The only thing that keeps them from a fifth star here is a little lack of polish on the part of their wait staff and bar tenders as some are great but most just so so. read more
