UPDATE.... Started off awful but ended up being a nice experience Wow this use to be such a gem such a 5 star but the last few times they just give lazy. Unbothered we don't care vibes! Today I come in. After calling. I drive here before the kitchen closes. I walk in. All staff sitting down on their phones and lab tops (including the manager) so I stand there for mins hoping to be seated. Finally one of the guys sitting feels bad then come and ask if need a seat. Tf nah I'm here cuz I am bored lol I'm seated and I'm ignored for ten mins (mind u the kitchen closes soon!) after a while I literally call on my phone to chat with the manager who is 30ft away. I explain the situation and he apologizes and sends someone. I place my order FRIED SHRIMP AND GRITS .... I receive regular shrimp with grits it's like. Uh. Should I just take the hint and leave cuz clearly they just don't wish to listen to my little order. Lord this isn't working out as I intended. Literally scared to get the ordered switched. WTH happened here. Years ago this place was literally such an awesome vibe. I would bring family and friends from out of town just not it today or last two times :-( Update... before I left the manager can't and explained and apologies. Asked for my feedback and even comped the entire meal. This warmed my heart that they even care to read the reviews. My service did a good job and the manager even offered to give his info to receive any more feedback. Now that's the service I was use to here. I may have caught them on. Peaches was a cute place with good food and great service -- really loved our waiter! I'll be honest, I wasn't super hungry when I ate here so I didn't get what I wanted (fried chicken) but instead opted for something lighter -- shrimp and collard greens. The collard greens were sooo good (definitely in my top 5). The shrimp were also good, but I feel like it's hard to mess up fried shrimp. I'll come back! I was in the neighborhood after a doctors appointment with my girlfriend and decided to stop by for an early breakfast (Friday 11am) since she had never been. They were fairly busy for just being open for the day. It was a hot day outside and it was hot inside. None of the fans or AC were on. The service was slow. We ordered two mimosas and the chicken and sausage Gumbo to start, the gumbo came out before the mimosas. The gumbo was lukewarm; odd since they had just opened. The DRINKS were meh. Mimosas ($10) had way too much orange juice, so it just tasted sweet; you can tell by how dark they are. The 2nd round I went for the brownstone punch and my girlfriend had the miss Jackson, hers especially tasted like juice. Mine had some taste of alcohol. The FOOD was good. Although the gumbo was not hot (which had us wondering if it was leftovers from the night before that was warmed up), it was well seasoned. I had Jim Cade breakfast ($18) was a good portion. I substituted the grits for the brunch potatoes which were good and opted for the egg whites (+$1) scrambled with cheddar cheese (+$1). The French toast was good and the berries they served with it was really fresh! My girlfriend had the shrimp and grits and she said it tasted good but was a bit watery. I don't eat grits but I did have a few of her shrimps and those were good. Peaches has the best French toast in the world and I'm not arguing about it. Trust me please. I ordered the Jim Cade breakfast. The meal consists of eggs (I ordered mine scrambled with cheese) , French toast, bacon (I ordered Turkey bacon) and your choice of grits or potatoes. I went with the potatoes. The food is soooooooo good. And did I mention the French toast is the best in the world?!?! All that goodness for $16 which is an absolute win in NY. Peaches has multiple locations and I went to the one on Lewis Ave in Bedstuy. I'll tell you right now if you are the type that doesn't like to be bumped or tight spaces the seating may drive you crazy. Especially if you go for brunch. You're literally shoulder to shoulder with other patrons. But the food is so good and the service is so fast I just dealt with it. They play R&B music at just the right the volume and the energy is all around positive. It's also worth noting that there are two sides to Peaches with separate entrances. The door with the Peaches awning is not the main entrance. That's the overflow side. If you are facing this awning the doors where the host is located will be to your left a few feet down. It's a residential area so parking will be based on time of day, day of week etc. I went on a Sunday after church around noon and found park one easily around the corner. My GF and I am had recently ordered peaches through DoorDash and while the gumbo she ordered was absolutely sensational, the Chicken and toast was unfortunately not up to par. I had bitten into this chicken thinking I was going to get a juicy flavor blast as I usually do but I was unfortunately met with the ghost of what was once there. It was definitely a saddening experience but Other than that, the Toast and fruits that were apart of the dish were amazing. The portions were sized welL The pasta was actually A LOT and it looked really good on paper but felt like it was missing some seasoning. Some salt and pepper ddid the trick, the day after. Sweet potato fries were crisp and addicting. I'm not gonna lie, my friend did was for cheese on her burger and they charger her a dollar which idk I thought was a little extra. Nonetheless, my French toast SLAPPED! All day brunch at 9 pm on a weekday was so good! The perfect amount of fluffiness and the granola crust added a yummy crunch. It comes with berries on the side and felt like a good sized portion. I will say they charged my friend $1 to get cheese on her impossible burger, which was a little extra IMO. I tried the Miss Jackson drink which was sweet and fruity as per our server's recommendation! Came to Peaches for some takeout on Monday and I ordered the salmon croquette and a side of fries. they no longer sell the crabcake sandwich I am so sad about that but Peaches is always a good VIBE It's with a heavy heart that i have to report that my take out order was the worst I've had the salmon croquettes before and this isn't the meal i had thought i was getting . Normally the croquettes come with a black bean salad that is so good and compliments the croquettes and then when you add the aioli it all just goes together so we'll !! Service needs serious work and food isn't that good. They don't take reservations (except for parties 10+) for brunch. Rather than be sensible and have a waitlist on arrival try just ask guests who was next. An hour wait later and we were seated. They gave completely done away with social distancing leaving about 3 inches between tables. Our waitress came to take our order fairly quickly the first time but after that it was near impossible to hail her down. She messed up my friend's order such that she had to add a side of grits later. Grits were a horrible puréed mess that we 100% should have done without and it was again too difficult to get the waitress's attention about this. Yes partially bc she was busy but also would hang at the front of house when she wasn't. I got the chicken and toast. Chicken was well seasoned but oddly had a lot of fat and extra skin. Toast was a bit dry but good and I liked the fresh berries. I tried my friends house potatoes and they was probably my favorite. I told our waitress early in the meal we were celebrating my friends birthday and we saw several other tables receive a happy birthday ding hug hers never came so we asked for the check and left. They completely fell off since Covid and I don't think there's any coming back. The food used to be so good that I would frequent the joint with my kids weekly. They knew us by name and order. Sad to say the food is awful now. The Jim Cade French toast is always stale, eggs are watery/runny and do not look like actual eggs. The bacon is undercooked and the grits that used to be slamming is now disgusting. I don't know what happened but I guess they switched cooks. Looks like Peaches is by far my favorite lunch spot in Bedstuy. I came for lunch with my daughter around 2pm even at that time on Thursday it was packed. We opted to sit at the bar since it was available. The bartender was really nice I wish I got his name smh. I ordered The Dusse Limonada which Im not a dark liquor fan but this mixture is on point and he added a lil extra Duss lol. My daughter opted for a Mimosa which she liked also. For our Apps I got the warm sweet cornbread and she got "The Lewus" which is Artichoke Salsa dip with nachos. Omg first off the cornbread thick and warm the butter melted perfectly. Now the dip was cheesy and a lil spicy but warm and definitely worthy of a pic. Our mains I got the shrimp po'boy with truffle fries, now this is a rich boy no po'boy at all lol . Huge perfectly fried shrimp on a toasted hero bread with spicy Mayo to add and a side of coleslaw. I only ate half and took the rest home. My daughter had the Steak Frites med rare which came on a skillet nice touch great presentation. The steak was tender inside a lil crisp outside with truffle fries and Balsamic vinaigrette steak sauce was a nice touch! Definitely different and worth sitting at the bar , music was on point also not too loud either. Did I mention the bartender?! Peaches was the perfect Sunday morning brunch spot for me and my family. The ambiance was so perfect on this hot July day, and I definitely suggest sitting outside if you don't mind a little heat. Our waitress Genesis made the experience everything!!! She was so kind, patient, and funny that we had to mention her. Truly would come back just for the absolutely exceptional service they provided. Everyone enjoyed their meals, but the appetizers of both the eggs and grits truly took the cake. They were so well seasoned and tasty that we kept thinking abt them throughout the meal. The drinks were also so good (and strong!) but we did notice that the second time around, the drinks came in a noticeable smaller Pitcher which was interesting. Overall, we had a great experience. What a disappoint, after being told we would have to wait 90 minutes and silly enough to wait because my son loves the brunch here, I was thoroughly disappointed, that in today's age of technology, this establishment expects you to keep coming into the restaurant to find out if your table is ready. I asked the host to kindly take my number and please call me when my table would be available, due to the fact there were no seats available anywhere and we had to wait approximately "a hour and a half" for a table. I explained to them that I would have to wait in my car and wouldn't be able to hear them since parking is also a nightmare at this location. I was told "we're not allowed to call customers, you can call us and keep checking". I honestly couldn't believe the foolery of it all, my family and I decided at that moment we would never come back, which is unfortunate since we've been going to peaches, from when they use to make the French toast fresh to order.
