Alameda has a lot of great food options but even with all those options, Bhan Mae Vane dominates the food list! Even outside of Alameda, it is one of the more popular Thai/Lao places for a reason. The service is good, most of the food came out relatively fast like 10-15 minutes. The Mok Pla took the longest, probably around 30 minutes but not sure if that is standard. Anyways, for the most part I really enjoyed the experience here. I think anyone who is a hardcore Thai/Laotian food fan would be satisfied coming here :)

I wanted to love this new restaurant in Alameda, but unfortunately, the experience fell short. The ambiance was lacking--it didn't feel inviting or well-thought-out. From the start, I wasn't confident our waitress understood our order, and that was confirmed when the chef came out to clarify what we wanted (a simple Benedict without meat). Our drink order wasn't taken until we asked, and when the coffee arrived, we had to request cream and sugar separately. The food service was disorganized--our plates came out one at a time with a noticeable delay. My chicken and waffles were disappointing. The chicken was a boneless patty that seemed frozen, and the waffle was hard and dry. To make matters worse, the dish was delivered to the table next to us first, returned by that guest, left sitting for a while, and then served to me lukewarm. The avocado toast with poached eggs, which came about 15 minutes later, was the one bright spot--it was fresh and enjoyable. They bring a great new dining experience to Alameda through their creative Thai-inspired brunch and dinner options. The flavors at Peak are both strong and fresh, with yellow curry and pandan toast standing out as my favorites. The staff provided friendly service while maintaining a modern and clean dining area. The price point at Peak is high since my eggs Benedict cost almost $30, but I plan to try additional menu items.
