The Peak offers Thai fusion brunch plates in a spacious dining room in Alameda. One of their most popular and photogenic dishes was the Thai Tom Yum Reduction, made with a mound of rice, topped with a tornado egg and surrounded by a moat of maitake mushrooms, huge prawns, onions, and tomatoes in a creamy, tangy Tom Yum sauce. This was a creative take on the classic Thai soup--the dish reminded me of omurice, but with a creamy Thai sauce that paired perfectly with the rice! Next, the Fried Trout with Apple Salad came with a deep-fried fillet of trout paired with a salad made of shredded green apples tossed with shallots, cilantro, cashews, lime juice, sugar, and fish sauce; and the Smoked Duck Curry was a red curry with lychee and pineapple, topped with slices of lean smoked duck breast. But my favorite dish was the Khao Soi, made of egg noodles and grilled chicken in a delicious creamy coconut curry sauce, topped with pickled mustard greens, scallions, cilantro, shallots, lime, and crispy egg noodles for a deliciously crunchy texture! What a wonderful concept! It was our first time trying a Thai brunch spot in Alameda and it was a delight! It's nestled at the end of Webster street, it has a wonderful ambiance, bright spot, perfect for first dates. We ordered the following to try: Brioche Toast & Pandan Cream Smoked Duck Benedict Chicken Satay Salad Thai Ice Tea Lychee Iced Tea I would say that the Toast was the highlight with the Duck benedict coming in pretty close! The lychee i ed tea was floral and delicious. Finally, they gave us a free coconut ice cream for dessert. I think the quality and flavor fits the price and a good value considering the whole ambiance, it is a place to relax and savor the moment, enjoy conversations, social gatherings, and try new flavors. Got to visit this new business that just opened up about 6 months ago. We ordered the tom yum reduction omelette, the pandan toast,the fried chicken Benedict, the smoked duck Benedict, and the smoked duck curry. The smoked duck in both dishes was a bit overcooked and dry. The curry had a really great flavor that helped moisten up the duck. The tom yum reduction to me didn't have enough tom yum flavor but the omelette was cooked nicely and I'm always a sucker for mushrooms, though the mushrooms were a bit watery. The fried chicken Benedict was one of my favorite dishes! The chicken was really moist and flavorful. I had the hollandaise sauce on the side and I didn't even really need to put it on because the chicken was already so juicy. My favorite dish of the meal though was the pandan toast. The pandan sauce was delicious and creamy. It wasn't too sweet, and the brioche was soft and fluffy. The perfect vehicle for the sauce! The service was great and the staff were very kind. I love this spot! What a great new addition to Alameda. My partner and I shared the Pandan Brioche and Smoked Duck Benedict - both were delicious! The brioche was sweet but not too sweet, and toast had the perfect texture. I really liked the pesto sauce in the Benedict, the flavors came together really well. My husband thai coffee was also tasty, and I enjoyed my Bellini. I think the person who served us was also the cook/owner. Seated on high stools. All the other tables with back support seats were reserved. Made reservations an hour before arrival. The eggs were fine; added salt and pepper. The bacon was crunchy and salty like I like it. The waffle syrup was mild. Rainbow potatoes were fine. The waffle was good! The tea was good; doesn't taste like Pandan though. Saw another customer's Thai tea and it looked good! The brioche crème brûlée toast was THICK not overly sweet. Starter Bakery is one of their vendors; that's a plus. The peach Bellini was fine. This time I tried their thai boat noodle, fried rice with fried chicken, fried calamari, fried chicken wings, pandan toast, thai tea toast, and of course I had to order their iced thai tea (that i kept dreaming of). Thai Boat Noodle /10 This beefy, hearty, and herby noodle soup is hands down one of the best dishes here. The crust stayed nice and crunchy while the chicken was so tender and juicy! The fried rice complimented the dish so well. Fried calamari 9/10 They know how to fry their stuff. The calamari was so crunchy, it wasn't even soggy by the time we finished it at the end of our meal. I'm not sure what sauce they paired it with, but it went really nicely with the fried calamari. Fried Chicken Wings 10/10 These chicken wings are out of this world. It's coated in a sticky umami, slightly spicy, sweet, and tangy glaze. I put some of the extra sauce on the fried rice because this sauce was just too good to pass up. This is definitely going to be my go-to order here. Pandan Toast 10/10 All the flavors melted together so perfectly. It came with toast, pandan cream, and coconut ice cream. The toast was nice and soft, while the pandan cream was not too sweet and yet had a strong pandan flavor, and lastly the coconut ice cream was just the perfect amount of coconut taste to balance out everything else. Thai Tea Toast 9/10 This dessert came with the same toast from the pandan toast, condensed milk, and thai tea ice cream. I thought that the thai ice cream was slightly lacking in flavor, but that didn't affect the taste of the dessert as a whole. The condensed milk complemented the toast extremely well and the ice cream was an added bonus! P.S. They made some changes to their menu, like adding a few more items and changing the names of 1-2 dishes. The staff here is likely overworked and underpaid. It didn't take much for us to understand that even if the food was good, the service would be poor. We walked out. It was a busy Saturday late morning, but my husband and I walked in and there were 2-3 open tables. We waited patiently to be seated as there was a sign on the podium that said to wait to be seated. After 5 minutes, not a single staff member acknowledged us or said hello, hi, or welcome, or we'll be with you soon. I thought she was grabbing menus because it's just us 2, and there are 2-3 open tables. We continue to wait. It's now 15+ minutes and she still doesn't seat us. My sisters and I were looking for a new brunch spot to explore on Yelp and we ended up at Peak. Located on Webster street, you'll be parking on the street. On a late Saturday morning, we easily found a metered spot a little farther down right outside of a plaza. I made a reservation on Yelp, though at the time we went, we probably would've been easily seated without one. Buuut since we did make one, we got a great table right by the window. They even had a little reserved sign on it, which made us feel a little more special. The restaurant has an interesting vibe/aesthetic. It has wood walls like it might been from the previous restaurant but the paintings and gallery walls were really nice. For food we ordered: Peak Gai Tod ($19): fried chicken with roti and yellow curry sauce to dip. Really good! The fried chicken was perfectly crispy. The roti was a little greasy but still good. For the portion size, it's a little pricey. Chicken Pad Thai ($18): probably the best thing we ordered. Loved the flavors and it was enough to feed the three of us and still take some home. The Peak ($25): you had me at signature dish. This is like a very hearty brunch toast. The wood smoked pork belly with maple syrup was a nice sweet/savory balance. I wish the pork belly was a little less fatty but it was still good. It was also a big dish so we had enough to share and take home. Chocolate Ferrero Rocher Pancake ($21): phewwww this isn't breakfast, this is dessert! It was fun to get to release l the flow of chocolate hazelnut sauce on top of the pancakes. The pancakes themselves were really fluffy too. This is enough to share so split this with a friend and get something savory too! Service was great here. Never needed to look for our servers, there was always someone around to help pretty quickly. There's a lot more on the menu that we wanted to try so we'll definitely be going back! read more

Ordered a Bloody Mary and it looked like a watermelon color and not red like a Bloody Mary should be. Egg rolls were a little mushy inside and were average as well. Ordered the pork bellies which were hard as a rock and no flavor at all. Ordered Pad Se Ew with chicken and it was dry and tasteless. We won't be back any time soon. My friend and I decided to try a new spot for brunch and I'm so glad we did! I find that in Alameda there are a lot of restaurants with just average food, so I didn't have high expectations. However, the food here was so delicious we started talking about when we would be back after just a few bites! I had the avocado smash with egg added and it was so flavorful. I'm still thinking about it days later. My friend got the smoked salmon toast and loved it. There were so many intriguing items on the menu, I look forward to trying something different next time. This place is soooooo good and amazing!!!!! I came here for brunch with my girls but we ended up doing a little bit of everything (brunch, thai, and dessert) and we were not disappointed at all. We ordered the calamari, crab fried rice, pad thai, and the Thai Toast - both the Pandan and Thai Tea. The owner also let us try the Ube Thai Toast and that was my absolute favorite of them all! I also had a black coffee to compliment the Thai Toast and the coffee was very quality! It did not taste like cheap, crappy coffee, which I much appreciated! The pad thai is one of the best I had in a very long time. It definitely competes with other top spots around the Bay Area. The crab fried rice was very perfectly seasoned and not overwhelmed with oils or soy sauce like other places. There was also a generous amount of crab throughout the dish. We were able to share this amont of food amongst 3 people (who love food) and we were very satisfied but not overly full, which speaks to the fact that they must not be using MSG in their food. It is such a cute and authentic spot! They just opened almost a month ago and they have definitely made a mark in such a saturated area for BOMB Thai, Asian food. The owner, Apple, is such a sweetheart! She came by our table and ensured we were doing okay, keeping our coffee and waters full. The complimentary Ube Thai Toast was the icing on the cake for such a great experience!
