    Banchan (complimentary)

Ordered: Pa-dak - Chicken with Scallion (~$28): crispy, crunchy boneless chicken topped with special sauce, sliced scallions, and onions Banchan (complimentary) Aya's take: Korean fried chicken is some of the best in the game and Mama Chicken has all the classic varieties you could ever want! The Pa-dak aka Chicken with Scallion was more than enough to share among 2 people. The boneless chicken was fried well yet never tasted greasy or heavy. I was obsessed with the sliced scallions and onions! They were crisp, refreshing, and somehow didn't have that intense and sharp taste that onions do. The special sauce was great but it could've used a lot more. There were some pieces without any sauce making those bites a bit dry. The Banchan was solid, mainly because they offered 2 of my favorite side dishes. Pickled daikon was a refreshing palate cleanser and the tteokbokki with fish tofu were super tasty, creamy, and umami. Definitely a cheat meal but very satisfying and will certainly hit the spot!

A spacious BYOB place for any occasion. The name is Mama Chicken but they have a variety of menu. We usually get the Rose chicken and creamy onion chicken but this time, with different people we ordered the traditional chicken - simply super crispy chicken, spicy sea snail (too spicy for me !!!!!), and their famous kimchi fried rice with cheese. The dishes were all good, tad bit salty chicken for my personal taste, but overall, very satisfactory.

I love their whole fried chicken. It's a classic Korean-style fried chicken--crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. I also really enjoyed their chicken gizzard. It was well-seasoned, tender, and full of flavor. Between the whole fried chicken and the gizzard, it made for a perfectly satisfying meal.

Loved all the food we tried here! We came here after a spa day at King Spa and so glad we did. We got the soy garlic wings and the sweet chili boneless chicken and both are super flavorful, crunchy and fresh. The cheese tteokbokki was amazing! One of my favorite tteokbokki I've tried in a while with amazing texture and flavor and generous portion. The decor is fun and service was fast. Would certainly come back again if we're in the area.

One of my new favorite places!! Me and my friends ordered a bunch of food and shared everything :-) the sweet and spicy boneless wings are my favorite!! Creamy onion chicken is a close second. Can't wait to come back!! It's also byob!

Another really yummy Korean fried chicken place in Palisades. Plenty of metered street parking. Can't believe I didn't find this place sooner! The chicken was perfectly crunchy outside and juicy inside. The cheesy corn was gooey and delicious, and the tteokbokki--ordered as its own dish (it comes as a side)--was richer and more flavorful. These portions were perfect for two!!

Eating here after a hike was such a great decision! My friends all love this spot and enthusiastically recommended it and I enjoyed it very much. Their fried chicken is phenomenal and you must get the onion cream chicken. The sauce was finger-licking delicious and paired so well with the chicken. The prices were perfectly reasonable too and they give you such large portions that you would probably have some leftovers. Our group ordered a whole bunch of food which was such a great way to explore the many flavors on the menu. The next time I am hiking in New Jersey, I know just where to eat after!

My favorite korean fried chicken place currently! The reason is because they have unique sauces that you don't normally see elsewhere. For example, my favorite is the pa dak chicken with very delicious yellow and red sauces. The rose sauce, which is marinara sauce with cream is amazing as well. However, for this one, I'd prefer if the sauce comes on the side so that the fries and chicken dont't get soggy. Just one portion is more than enough for 2 people, which is why I haven't had a chance to try other dishes that are not fried chicken from this place.

Another delicious meal from mama chicken! I ordered an 8 piece of crispy chicken wings and omg, absolutely loved it! It was delicious, juicy, crispy and the sweet and spicy sauce made it a 10/10 without a doubt. I think it's the best sauce for the chicken! Service is always nice and the place looked nice and clean as well when I stopped by.

Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 We didn't wait long for a table but food took longer than preferred (we were hungry so time may be a bit biased). Food was good, but the side dishes could be skipped.

The food was served pretty qyick considering I ordered korean fried chicken . The meal was served with decent banchan. The chicken tasted good although I have tried better ones. The staff were friendly and the place was clean.

Got the rose chicken to share among our group. It's very unique with the marinara sauce, and the fries were quite good. I thought the chicken was ok, nothing special but not bad.

Ask the Community - Mama Chicken

Are they open for dine in?

Yes! They just re-opened for dine-in this past week (5/17/2021)

    Can you drink here?

It is a BYOB so you can bring your own drinks as you please

Do they provide vegetarian options as well? And is it a cheaper price then the meat version?

I don't know if it's like veggie burgers and stuff but they have things like spaghetti and such that don't have meat.

Everything was fantastic. The quality across the board was impressive, and nothing felt one note. For a multi course meal, each dish that hit the table felt intentional and well thought out, clearly designed to build on the overall experience. Service was also really good. When we visited it was not too busy, but I could imagine it gets packed on weekends given how popular it seems. My favorite dishes were the marinated meat, which arrived sizzling hot and was served over a candle to keep it warm, and the soy sauce shrimp, which was incredibly flavorful and perfectly executed. The truffle potato jeon was another standout and honestly the dish I would recommend most. The presentation throughout the meal was also beautiful and added a lot to the experience. They also offer a strong cocktail and drink program. Dessert, however, I would probably skip in favor of focusing on the savory courses. If you are looking for elevated Korean food with creative twists, I highly recommend this spot. Their kalbi jjim also seemed popular and is something I would try on a return visit. Overall, we spent around 200 dollars for two people and had plenty of leftovers. They also offer à la carte options if you do not want the full set menu. Parking is available in the lot on the side of the building.

Finally got to try this place I heard so much about on a Christmas day with wife because it was…read morefrigid and we wanted a warm bowl of Korean "tang"(soup). Finding parking is quite challenging given the location on a busy commercial street, so make sure you can come earlier than meal time to have better luck. They have waiting seats OUTSIDE so yeah I suppose it's quite popular at times. 1. ATMOSPHERE (3/5) - This location is small and it's pretty straightforward place. But I still found it cozy, with decent amount of seating (I think it can handle 15-20 max) and little details like wall with wood ledges and coat hangers were a nice touch. Seating was comfortable, though we tied our down parkas around our waist as another party had hung theirs on our side of coat hangers. 2. FOOD (4/5) - We dove right in to try their famous gejang (~Korean raw crab "ceviche") and ordered two of their namesake gookbap (rice with soup) to see how they are. Here's how it went down. - Gejang (App, $20, 2/5) - I had a hunch that on a holiday perhaps I should not order this, but my craving for succulent crab flesh be damned, I went for it and unfortunately, the meat was not well-marinated as I had feared. Gejang is a dish that has to sit in the complex soy-based pickling liquid for some time... and if restaurant is too busy churning them out or if it's slow season they won't do this properly. It not only wasn't fully marinated, I think the marinade was off because the spiciness was way out of balance and was overpowering. Perhaps knowing that it didn't have enough time to marinade the kitchen put extra diced jalapenos to compensate? Because that's exactly what it tasted like - you can't fool me. I tried to salvage the dish by asking a confused-looking girl server for some sugar, but yeah, can't un-do the overpowered marinade with sprinkling of sugar. This was really unfortunate as I was looking forward to a good bite. - Ahjae Gookbap (Main, $18, 5/5) - Thankfully, their namesake gookbap was spot-on to salvage our dining. Generous slabs of succulent beef on the bone and off the bone was swimming in a hearty beef/bone broth that tasted clean and focused. Portion was good, and can I say their banchan of fish cake moochim & unfermented kimchi & ggakdugi(radish kimchi) simply ROCKS? That was some serious deliciousness and dare I say value at $18 at a day and age where hamburger costs over $10! You win at life by ordering this! 3. SERVICE (4/5) - Our server girl was attentive and food came out early on though later it was a bit hard to get her attention promptly. We found ourselves putting hands in the air, and wavin' like we don't care... for a little while. They provide gloves & metal bin for gejang which was a nice touch for people to keep their fingers clean. One thing I'd like to mention: Plastic cup they served water in was all chipped on the rim so we instead went and got water from their hot & cold water dispenser which had metal cups (as many korean restaurants do). I'd suggest them to replace all these old plastic cups with metal ones for health reasons. Overall, we were satisfied with our meal. I'd chock up the gejang mishap to it being a holiday. I hope chef was just off with the marinade that day because I am a certified gejang pro(I catch and make my own) and that balance ain't it. But I will give it another try during warmer month and we'll definitely be back to try sooyook moochim, oyster jeon & other great soup offerings.

Ordered three things: 1) marinated crabs, small size (5/5). Always a must-get here. 2) ddukbaegi bulgogi (4.5/5) - Thinly sliced prime marinated beef ribeye casserole with rice cake and glass noodle and mushroom served in a sizzling hot pot. Really flavorful and so good to have on a cold day. 3) ahjae ppyo jjim (4.5/5) - Braised prime beef meat bones in soy reduction with carrots, radish, dates, chestnut, rice cake and glass noodles. We got non-spicy. It came in a HUGE bowl. Definitely meant to be shared with a group. Took leftovers home and it was still yummy the next day mixed with knife-cut noodles I had at home.

Even the Kimchi Stew and Gyeran-jjim were more umami than the countless counterparts I've had elsewhere. This time around, it's a stronger 5 out of 5 because of our waiter was amazing. Ugh, I can't remember his name. He was on top of everything and making sure our food was grilled in a timely manner. He was quick to follow up with orders/requests that didn't come through when the kitchen didn't bring them out. Usually my gripe or disclaimer I give to people is that Wooga is great at everything except wrapping up things on the end. In the past, whenever I went, it would take forever (!!!!!) to get our check and pay. It was so frustrating but this time around, it was a bit faster. It's a win-win situation because we get to pay and leave and the restaurant has another table for customers. Though on the pricier side, Wooga does check off all the boxes of: -amazing meat quality -amazing & attentive service -they don't skimp on banchans (side dishes that I heard other restaurants are starting to limit) -several meat combo options -best Korean steamed egg in the North Jersey area We tried the thinly sliced oxtails, which were really good but pretty pricey for $38cash/$39.90card for 11oz of it. There are some things that are inconvenient (long waits, very small parking lot) but it's easy to overlook them once you have a meal at Wooga. Things to know before you go: -Their menu is updated on their website if you want to check that out before you go. -The earlier you go, the better your chance of being seated quickly. Weekends are definitely a longer wait, so plan ahead. -Their parking lot is small so it fills up super quickly, so you'll have to park across the street and play Frogger (maybe you might be too young to know this reference?) to cross the 4 lanes of Palisade Ave. -When you arrive, make sure to check in with the host/hostess so that you could get a pager to know when your table is ready. Your turn can come pretty fast sometimes depending on the timing.

We decided on this place because rating was pretty good and was open late. It's located in a plaza with Korean market, liquor store, cafe and such. Large parking area available in the plaza. Inside is small but clean and gives off traditional Korean restaurant vibe with of course Korean music. There were quite few Korean customers as well as staffs so i knew we were in the right place. They specialize in Korean beef soup. We ordered rice cake and dumplings and special beef rib soup. The fish came with purple rice and various kimchi and pickled veggies side dishes. They also serve korean hot tea along side the dishes. My special beef rib soup was very light and clear but full of beef flavor. Little touch with salt and pepper with pickled veggies and rice paired with very well. The meats were very tender and flavorful as well. Portion is quite large and i was not able to finish my bowl although i did help with another bowl of rice from my partner. My partner got the rice cake and dumplings beef soup. This one was a but lighter and needed more salt flavoring but also good. She liked her's better as she doesn't like heavier and fattier meat/broth. Salt and peppers are provided to adjust your seasoning as needed. Even though they could not finish the dishes i throughly enjoyed the food. What i like about Korean dishes is that even some are heavy and fatty they include lots of vegetables and healthy ingredients which makes it feel like you had a healthy meal and lots of nutrients despite eating out. Service was minimal but adequate. Overall it was very good authentic Korean restaurant that offers solid Korean beef soup.
