Bilingual review: English- I came here with my wife and a group of friends on a Friday night to grab a bite to eat. As a bonus, they had a free salsa dance class (they don't every Friday). The instructor was very entertaining and did a great job motivating people to get out on the dance floor. To my surprise, there were quite a few non-Latinos there, and everyone had a blast, dancing however they wanted. If you're looking for a fun, early night out on a Friday, definitely check this place out. The food and drinks are great, the staff is courteous, and the manager makes sure everyone is well taken care of. Update to my previous review. Re visited the diner this week and found they have made significant improvement. Still a ways to go before I'd consider this place a "good diner" but they are on the right path. Service is much improved and food coming out of the kitchen is looking like "real diner food". I'd been to this eatery before it was redone. It had standard diner fare and was decent. Newly remodeled, we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. The interior has been redesigned and has more of an open feeling. The staff was very friendly and helpful with any questions that we had. Their menu is vast with some unique Central American option like Mofongo. As it was early, I opted for the CentroAmerican Breakfast. It was delicious and reasonably priced. DON'T Listen to the bad reviews! You will miss out on great food. This is my fourth time coming here and every time we come we get great food and great service! This last time was exceptional. Our waiter Elvis was extremely attentive and accommodating. He made great recommendations that helped us all to order exactly what we wanted. We ordered things that weren't even on the menu (trifongo - Mofongo with plantains, Yucca and Maduros). When he heard that me and my friend were going to split the trifongo and the Cuban sandwich, he had the kitchen split our plates for us with no extra charge. The Peconic Bay Diner/Latin Bistro, depending on if you read the signage out front or the menu inside was ok. The new renovation is a little strange. One room is Diner meets sports bar and another room has a cocktail lounge vibe. Maybe that will pull in a new crowd that wants an all in one experience but all I need is a good diner. The food came out quickly and my order was correct but once I got my meal I had'nt had a visit until the check came and that was about 15 minutes after I was done eating. I really like a refill on my coffee in that type of restaurant but didn't get one. The pancakes & eggs were good but the bacon was definitely not made fresh and probably pull out of one of those stainless bins in the refrigerator. The price was fair especially compared to IHOP but it doesn't have the same cozy old school diner vibe as it did before. I probably won't be making another visit here unless I feel like giving them another chance down the road. read more

I have always gone to this diner after going to the Riverhead outlets. I was surprised to see the name had changed so I was skeptical about going in. I had the chipotle fried chicken sandwich and as you can see the chicken was 1. Not fried but a patty? Which was barely cooked and hard. I took 2 bites and physically could not eat the rest it was absolutely disgusting. 2. There was not even chipotle mayo on it. My boyfriend got the classic cheeseburger and took one bite and could not physically eat the rest because he said the meat didn't taste like beef. The french fries were cold but we were so hungry we ate them. The waitress never came to check on us after ordering so we could not tell her how awful the food was. She put us in a corner away from everyone even though it was not busy. I would not even give the leftover food to my dog. None the less we paid for our meal but we would never come back here. I am extremely disappointed. The restaurant was very clean and everyone was fairly nice but the food was horrendous. Nothing like the diner that was there beforehand. I was excited when the reopened. Formerly it specialized in Eastern European Food which was something Iooked foward to, I like trying new dishes. There was a language barrier. The first waitress asked what we wanted to drink. I was unable to make her understand I wanted a cocktail When the next server came I was able to get a drink and we made our order. despite my saying what I wanted and pointing to it on the menu, she did not understand I wanted a double burger. When it came it was a single. The burger was good and my wife's empanadas were good. The menu show two prices. Cash and credit. Cash was less and I said I was paying cash. The bill did not reflect the lower price. There was a sign at the register saying seniors get 10% off between 2 and 4. when I went to pay I asked for the lower price and the discount. I was met with a look that said she had no idea of what I was saying. For a burger and fries, empanada appetizer, two glasses of water and two cocktails the bill came to over $70 without a tip. Prices where nearly 50% higher than with the previous owner I doubt we will return. read more

I feel like I have to leave a review today. After reading the 2.5 star reviews, we entered the diner not knowing what to expect. Let me tell you this, my dad and I noticed that there was a recent remodel and the place was clean and well lit, with plenty of space and wait staff. We ordered breakfast and it arrived promptly just as we ordered. We never had to ask for anything, the staff was right on top to assist. i ordered dinner for myself and my 95 year old husband last night through Door Dash and was absolutely thrilled with our meals. The food was piping hot and arrived quickly. My husband had corned beef hash with eggs and potatoes. My Angus beef pasta with mushrooms in a creamy parmesan sauce was unbelievably delicious and there was a generous amount of juicy steak bits. We had enough for two nights, and to share with our little dog. it was so good that we will order it again next week as we watch our granddaughter's wedding on zoom, a celebratory meal! Food is excellent and reasonable. They have the usual diner choices. What makes it special is the Latin dishes.I tried a Dominican soup called Sancocho Dominican. Very large portion with nice treats in it from corn, potatoes, and various meats. The soup flavor was sublime, well balanced and favorable. This is the 2nd time visiting this diner. The problem is communication. The listening and understanding is key to being a waitress. I asked for blueberries in my pancakes and when I asked if they could put them inside, the waitress responded "yes" but not understanding what I said apparently. I received my pancakes with blueberries on top and she blamed the chef. It wasn't the chefs fault, it was her fault. The first time I came there was another communication issue. The bacon looked horrible and fake. However she took a dollar off my bill but still, you need to be able to listen and understand! So diner beware. Unfortunate because the owner is very nice and food is usually very good. I work nearby and stop for my lunch hour I get there at 1215 and have to be back office at 100p. Most times it's fine. On two separate occasions including today I had to walk out because never was served after waiting 45 minutes! I went back after the first time to give them a second chance. It has been going well I am one of their best customers and yet today same thing wasted 45 minutes waiting for my food which was a SALAD while the place was 1/4 full and servers were talking and joking to them selves. Finally stopped in to try the diner since it's new ownership. Ordered a coffee, Hamburger (rare) dinner and Diet Coke with the flounder sandwich. Coffee was good but the Coke came in a can with a glass with iv. 25 minutes later food arrived. Hamburger was well done and the flounder was cod. Needless to say the Hamburger was left with a bite and the cod sandwich was left with only a 1/4 of it eaten - over cooked.
