I bought a bike here about seven months ago. People were very friendly and helpful and help me find a bike that fit me perfectly. I brought my bike in for service today. It's a little over the top with Covid. You have to wait to go in and they take your temperature which I've never had my temperature taken at a retail store. I have heard that I will be told that there is quite an extensive amount of repairs that will be needed during my tuneup so we shall see.

In a time when 24 size youth sized bikes were no where to be found this place recommended putting in an advance order and reported the bike would be in 10 days. They lived up to their promise. Nice bike for my 9 year old. I had to bring the bike back the next day to get a kickstand installed and all is well. Bike was incredibly lighter than his previous bike. Love Trek bikes

Will get harrast if your ASIAN.

Asians profiler alert. Owner came in hot and said don't touch anything if your not going to purchase. No signs of staff will take out bike if interested to buy.

Kickstands down, Newington Bike is the best bicycle shop around. Can you put a price on the freedom and enjoyment felt in cycling or on outstanding service this shop gives? Not if you could try. I have been searching endlessly, far and wide, for a three-wheel bike [or an adult trike]; I was fortunate to find the perfect one--as well as outstanding service and more--at Newington Bike. I called the shop one afternoon to inquire if they had such a bike, and was connected with Dave, one of the mechanics. (The owner of the shop is also named Dave; my contact was only through Dave who is a mechanic at the shop.) He said the shop does have something and went to check their inventory quickly to make sure. I was impressed when he did that for me!! He stated that even if that one sells before I come in to see it, the shop usually gets a shipment for one each week. Several days later, I stopped in to check out the bike and shop. I introduced myself to Dave and was able to see the trike in person. I fell in love with both the shop, its workers, and the trike. Less than a week from ordering my trike, it was shipped to the store and fully assembled. [The mechanic] Dave called to tell me it was ready and offered to drop it off at my home (as it would be harder to do with my smaller car and the trike's slightly larger width). Dave went out of his way for me and made sure I was happy with my trike, which I tremendously am!! He let me test drive it on my street and helped me make some final adjustments to make it perfect. It fits exactly to me. I very much appreciate all that he did for me. The prices may be on the higher side, but for the quality of products and the best customer service you receive, they are well worth it. I could not find a trike anywhere, only cruiser bikes that are low to the ground and are in a reclining position. It was a rare find, and Newington Bike has it!! They have a great selection of everything, from bikes to bike accessories to cycling clothing to swimming gear (for triathlons). Like Dave who helped me, the staff will look around for whatever you do need, too, if the shop does not have it immediately available. The staff is amazingly kind and helpful. Each person greets you and asks to help with whatever you need when you walk in. You will not want to go anywhere else for your cycling needs after you come here. There is nothing like the freedom and enjoyment you get cycling (in my case, tri-cycling), or the fantastic service at Newington Bike. Thanks to Dave and Newington Bike, I am able to finally feel that beautiful, refreshing breeze on my face as I peddle easily, exploring on my trike.

As you can see from my other reviews of other bike shops, I've not had the best of luck. From stores that only push certain brands to stores that treated me great til they got my money.... it's hard in today's day and age of the internet where to go and how you will be treated. Let me tell you the guys at Cutting Edge have been hands down WONDERFUL at every turn. Not only did they more than willingly go thru bikes with my husband but also with me. The fact that they were so thorough and knowledgeable about the bikes they have, including my current riding disciplines. They have a varied selection of all kinds of bikes and if there is something you're interested in but don't see, just ask. They also have a used section that is available to the public. So what makes these guys great? They all have their own personalities and talents, but they are so harmonious and that's rare and lends its self to a lack of competition against each other for sales and puts the customers needs and wants first!! An equal great point is they are able to point out things to me that helped my cycling and make suggestions without being overbearing or putting sales first. These guys know how to generate true repeat business by fostering real relationships with every customer that comes in. Which is why on the third visit there we felt more than comfortable to trade in my husbands bike and upgrade him to a full suspension bike! He ABSOLUTELY loves his new bike and they just turned my bike from a 2x10 drive train to a 1x10 drivetrain and for a more than reasonable price!!! Craig this is how you do it and other businesses could learn from you, but they just don't even fit in the same category as you and your store!!!! Please extend a HUGE THANK YOU TO YOUR STAFF as they totally earn it everyday!!!!

After seeing the need for a community bike shop in New Haven, Feiner used the last $600 in his bank account to open his own shop. It originally opened in a cramped old Wooster Square factory space at 433 Chapel Street. For his new shop, Feiner chose the name "The Devil's Gear" as a reference to the 1988 Paris-Nice stage race. The French press said that Irish cyclist Sean Kelly was riding "the devil's gear". In addition to selling bicycles, the shop also hosts bike tours, maintenance clinics and weekly training rides. The shop has made a number of moves over the years: first to 151 Orange Street, then down the street to 137 Orange, and finally to their current location at 845 Chapel Street. In 2018, longtime employees John Brehon and Greg Ledovsky came on board as co-owners of the shop. Feiner later stepped down due to medical reasons, but Brehon and Ledovsky continue to build on the foundation and legacy that he left behind. In 2021, Brehon and Ledovsky decided to start selling skateboards at the shop too. Local skateboarder J. Joseph came on board to handle the skateboard department. I've been doing business with the Devil's Gear for well over 10 years. When I first became interested in cycling, I went there to get all of my cycling accessories and helpful tips. I still ride a 2013 Jamis Satellite Sport road bike in a beautiful Tiger's Eye finish which I bought from the shop. I take it back to the shop every year for my annual tune-up. In addition to all of their great products and services, The Devil's Gear does a lot for the local cycling community. They have provided all of the technical support for Smilow Cancer Hospital's Closer to Free Ride for several years. I'm about to start training for my seventh consecutive CTF Ride. Whether you've been cycling for several years or you're just looking to get into cycling, you should definitely head down to The Devil's Gear!
